Last week, I got to do a sweet, SWEET promo-slash-portfolio shoot with local photographer Hannah Lane. She played “bride” for me, and I was able to get a few dream photos out of my system (you know, for my new website, coming sooner than I’m ready for!). Hannah was a dream to photograph – I had a hard time choosing images. She takes my breath away!

She was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, walking into the first party of their junior year. He kicked himself internally – there was no way they’d have anything in common. But when he met her, he discovered they had everything in common. On Mother’s Day, he brought Rebecca – and his mother’s diamond – to Charleston, and treated her to a spa day, a private carriage ride, and a walk in Waterfront Park that ended with a proposal and an engagement session. We hoped for sun, planned for rain, and shot in the gray, but in spite of everything, their sweet love carried the day.

Two weeks ago, I got to spend an evening with a beautiful friend who let me bring my camera along for the fun. Her images came out so pretty I needed to share a few for your enjoyment, even though she’s not engaged or getting married – YET.

Emily has inspired a new collection for me – OH, and speaking of that, did you know we’re going to be launching a new website soon? I don’t know if I’ll make a big deal out of it, but I really cannot wait… And speaking of THAT…

I’m willing to steeply discount an evening beach session for another pretty girl sometime next week. There are a couple of shots that I’m dying to get for my portfolio and I’m short a model to make them happen. If you’re interested, please just drop me an email or message me on Facebook.

She’s eighteen years old, getting ready to attend the College of William and Mary, and this senior session of her dreams saw her stepping early into the acting career she hopes to pursue. Holly’s mom asked a friend to bring a surprise along to the gorgeous Airlie Center for her shoot – a 1950′s Chevrolet Bel Air that fit perfectly with Holly’s already-eclectic modern vintage style. (I am so hiring Holly’s mom to do my session styling for me…)

The results: A real-life editorial made in creative heaven. Happy sigh.

Evan & Anne | Savannah Georgia Wedding | Featured at Style Me Pretty

“‘We could be a holiday, we could be a celebration, we could be a whole parade.’” She quoted Sandol Stoddard Warburg’s children’s book in her vows. “I am so ready to be all of those things together.”

I could see Anne at five years of age, at eight, at twelve, a little girl imagining her wedding day, making a holiday out of it. On one perfect spring day in Savannah, she was living everything she’d envisioned, from the pink to the lace to the sweet love between her and the man of her dreams.

All of her life bubbled up and over as she invited everyone into her beautiful, and as I watched them, I knew why Evan and Anne fit together. She made him laugh; he made her fall in love – it’s exactly the way a love story should be written, and exactly the way it played out for this couple whose wedding was only the beginning of the most lovely tomorrows.

Anne, Evan, thank you for inviting me to witness your “whole parade” – it was worth every second, and I’m not just saying that. Your wedding will be one I keep in my heart for a long time.

Allie | A [Little] Girl in the White Dress

She is four years old, and one of the sweetest little girls I’ve ever met. Her Lincoln, Virginia session made me homesick for my own little girl in the white dress – even though I was only two days away from home. Notwithstanding the homesickness, Allie’s session was special for me, because I had photographed her parents’ wedding in April, 2007. Believe it or not, I wore a white dress to the wedding, being five months pregnant with Piper. Sarah graciously allowed me to break with all tradition and wear what fit. Allie’s dress for this session looked an awful lot like the one I wore that day.

If there is one thing that all of my brides have in common, it is their childlike approach to life. They are not afraid to smile, or to embrace the world around them with the same innocence they held as little girls. Allie inherited her mom’s sweet spirit, and I felt like I was just playing along with her as she explored.
