Chanel beauty is always one of my favorite parts of the French fashion house’s collections.  Under the direction of Peter Philips, who season after season create must have colors, we get all shades of blue for the spring/summer haute couture show.  I am really digging the deep navy liner, which softens up the look more than a solid black liner would do.  Below are the products used on the models.  Be on the lookout for the light blue nail polish called Sky Line Blue.

Get ready to swoon ladies! Come fall, your shoe closet is going to get a lot more crowded when Rachel Roy’s new shoe collection launches.  Inspired by the great footwear masters like Manolo Blahnik, Rachel Roy’s shoes will make strong statements with bold fabrics Napa and box leather, kid skin suede, calf, snake, pony hair and glitter.

The shoes will range in price from $200 to $600 and include about 30 styles. Expect to pay $195 to $250 for flats, $225 to $325 for pumps, $325 to $425 for booties and $450 to $600 for boots.

I can’t believe it’s been seven years since Edun launched.  With a mission to support local farming communities and factories in Africa, while providing work for people there, the brand has become extremely popular among consumers.  I’ve bought several dresses and t-shirts during their Gilt Groupe flash sales. The clothing brand just announced that it will be unveiling its first ever advertising campaign this spring.

The Edun Spring 2012 campaign, shot by Ryan McGinley, features six exotic butterflies indigenous to Africa.  “We really wanted to capture the essence of Edun, and of what inspires the brand, which is duality and transformation,” said Ali Hewson, who co-founded the company with her husband, U2 front man Bono.

The campaign will start running in March in Italian, French and U.S. Vogue; Vanity Fair; Dazed & Confused; AnOther; T The New York Times Magazine, and the Sunday Times of London. Short “blink videos” will appear on Edun.com and via social media outlets.

According to WWD, Edun will “open a pop-up shop in Harvey Nichols on Wednesday. It will open a pop-up shop at Le Bon Marché in Paris at the end of March, and for spring it will begin being carried at Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.”

Lane Crawford will be unveiling its spring campaign this Wednesday in Hong Kong but we’ve got a sneak peak at the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott lensed campaign.  Titled ‘The Pinacle of Style,” the campaign features Li Bingbing, “It” girl Chen Ran and model Sui He in a collage style spread, wearing high end designers like Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent, Celine and Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.

If you didn’t get the memo about the floral trend that’s coming this spring, you do now, thanks to Stella McCartney.  Feast your eyes on the bountiful blooms enveloping the models in her spring 2012 advertising campaign.  It just makes my heart sing, seeing flowers everywhere.  This is one trend everyone can try, whether its by wearing bold prints or accessorizing with flowers. If you take one thing away with you about spring trends, it’s that paisley and bold florals are a must have.  Happy shopping!

The New York Junior League, on Friday evening, hosted its annual winter party, themed Apres Ski, for its members and their guests.  Held inside the historic Junior League house on the Upper East Side, the fete was one not to be missed.  Ladies dressed in their themed ski gear and cold weather garb danced the night away on multiple floors. Guests were given some cool shades courtesy of Knockaround Sunglasses, which they rocked throughout the after party.

Wine was flowing, Bourbon and gin kept the gents happy, while a majority of the guests murdered the dance floor to a top 40 DJ.  My friends Whitney Kuhn and Hallie Watson and I mingled and danced to some oldies but goodies but took the opportunity to tour the house, which was decorated impeccably to feel like a winter resort.

The New York Junior League really knows how to throw a party.  The house was full until the very end when party goers headed to Brother Jimmy’s for a late night party.  If you’re wondering whether there were a lot of guys there, the answer is ABSOLUTELY! I was very impressed by the amount of testosterone in the room, giving the ladies dance partners for the night.

A NOTE TO SELF FOR NEXT YEAR: A majority of party attendees go out all to dress for the theme.  If you do plan on going out to another place afterwards, I suggest a sweater dress and boots.

It’s also wise to buy tickets in advance instead of trying your luck at the door.

As a dark skinned woman, I sometimes hate drawing attention to my face with bright colors.  I have never really been comfortable wearing bright lipsticks or loud colors on my eyes.  For the past two seasons however, I have gradually embraced the color and cease every opportunity to elegantly wear them without my face looking clownish.  This past weekend, two of my favorite bloggers and I headed to the Duane Reade on Wall Street to check out their beauty selection (separate post to come).  This mega Duane Reade had aisles and aisles of makeup from a lot of unexpected brands.  There was Talika, Iman, Becca Cosmetics, Gosh Cosmetics, butter London, OPI, Essie and so much more.

I was drawn to the butter LONDON nail polish department, where a bright pink color (Primerose Hill Picnic) caught my eye.  I’m embarrassed to say this but I actually gave myself a quick color change at the store (with the sample bottle, of course).  I loved the color so much that on our next beauty stop to Sephora, I got brave enough to try a bright pink lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent.   The pink lipstick was Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture-7: Le Fuchsia, a $30 tube that made me feel so pretty and doll like that I ended up wearing it all night.  The color is rich and moisturizing with staying power.  Even after several martinis and and shots, the pink color stayed put.  I washed it off the next day by exfoliating with a toothbrush.  So dare to go bright, especially if you have a darker complexion. You won’t regret it.

The Kardashian Klan is growing and as the older ones’ popularity wanes, the new generation of the franchise is being brought to the spotlight.  Kim’s little sisters, Kylie and Kendall, just landed their very first Teen Vogue cover and uber colorful editorial shoot that the tweens are sure to love.

Thanks to momager, Kris Jenner, these two girls are nabbing covers, modeling campaigns and fashion deals galore.  I’ve to to hand it to the two girls for looking absolutely gorgeous with their long flowy raven locks. Kudos to Teen Vogue for keeping them looking like teens for the shoot.

If you missed tonight’s episode of Gossip Girl, I suggest you head over to Hulu in the morning and catch up on the epic royal wedding, who wore what and the drama that ensued. The wedding didn’t happen and as much as we all hoped it would be Chuck who would stop the wedding, plans changed with Gossip Girl adding a splash of her diabolical and vile antics to the mix. We also find out at the end of the episode, the identity of the Upper East Side’s gossip queen, Georgina. Yes! Jaw dropping to the floor ladies.

As for the royal wedding of Prince Louis to Queen B, there was fanfare, drama, lots of fascinators (wouldn’t be a royal wedding without it) and gorgeous dresses galore.  Blair wore a dazzling lace wedding gown that took a while to make by hand, as explained by Vera Wang in the video above.  The scene stealer was Serena, who pulled a Pippa Middleton in her handpainted one shoulder dusty pink gown. Footwear designer Christian Louboutin, today, will be at Bergdorf Goodman to meet fans and clientele who can’t get enough of his sexy, vertiginous footwear.  For the special occasion, David Hoey and Linda Fargo, in charge of designing and conceptualizing the department store’s window displays, have created a series of out of this world displays showcasing the wonderful world of Louboutin.

In the evening, the windows seductively lure you to what’s inside them, gorgeous Louboutin pumps from the current season.  The windows alone are worth a trip to Bergdorf Goodman but what a treat to have the designer there as well.  Christian will be on the second floor from 3pm – 6pm.  Get there early.
