Nail-Venturous Floam!!! I’d pretty much all but given up on ever owning a Nail-Venturous polish. It feels like any time an Etsy or BigCartel store opens up, I can never quite catch it. Luckily, my friend had an extra and generously gave one to me. Something about working or schooling and having responsibilities makes for a sad, sad indie collection.

Floam is a matte glitter consisting of blue and neon-y green glitter. Pictured above is two coats. I had a bit of a tough time with application for this one. It was thick, but would run at the same time. The glitter wasn’t really a fan of moving. And my brush was way wonky. I left this without clean up to kind of show what a mess it made.

But despite that, I would wear this all over again. I don’t remember if I played with Floam as a wee lass, but my boyfriend does and he likes this color. Also manly men who work with sea lions and fix things at sea lion facilities like this too. SO THIS IS A REALLY COOL COLOR.

For more information on Nail-Venturous colors, check Amy’s Facebook or blog! :)

Priti NYC 369 Magic Man is a vampy, vampy red jelly. It applies streaky on the first coat, but evens out with the next two coats. Pictured above is three coats.

I feel like I’ve seen this before. It’s not amazing, but not bad either. Just meh.

Priti NYC is available for $12.50 a bottle from Spirit Beauty Lounge.

I layered on Red Carpet Lacquer Thief to get a less meh feeling about the polish. I don’t know why, but I’m not really feeling this combo.

Thief, however, is a super fun glitter topper which officially kills my need for Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow. It contains bar glitter, large hex glitters, hex glitters, all gold! Shiny, shiny, like something a thief would love to snatch off your fingers.

I will need to play around with this more because it is awesome. Just not over Priti NYC 359 Magic Man.

Red Carpet Lacquer is an indie brand available on Etsy. Her polishes retail for $8. It looks like there are 8 left. Once these are gone, they are gone forever!

Hand Cream Quest (HCQ) is a journey on which I embark to find the perfect hand cream… not too thick, not too light, not too greasy, not too dry, not too fragranced, and most importantly, incredibly moisturizing! I will judge based on price, packaging, texture, absorbance, scent, the Zoo Factor (a combination of all the above + staying power + working at a zoo), and Acetone Addict (does it moisturize after acetone usage?).

If you feel that a product should be considered for my HCQ, please send me an email at paulina@thegoreprincess.com and I will add it to my to try/to buy list! To view other hand creams on my quest, click here!

Price: Shepherdess All-in-One Natural Balm comes in a 2 oz. jar for $4.95 + $2.95 shipping. It is available through her Etsy shop!

Packaging: This balm is packaged in a wide, flat jar which makes it easy to retrieve product from the bottom of the jar.

Texture & absorbance: This balm is soft and malleable, even in super cold weather. You can rub off tiny amount just for your cuticles, or wherever you have dry skin, or you can scoop out a small chunk for larger areas that need attention. It absorbs quickly but leaves some shiny on your skin. The shiny doesn’t transfer to your electronics or screens though.

Scent: The scent that I have is orange vanilla cream. It is a light and pleasant scent. Not overwhelming over overpowering. Other available scents are home grown honey, fresh picked raspberries, banana cream pie, vanilla swirl & unscented.

Zoo Factor: This balm doesn’t stand up to hand washing and working with water very well, so reapplication is fairly often. If you work in less watery or marine environments, this is a great, long lasting balm for your hands or your cuticles.

Acetone Addict: This works amazingly when you’re polishing your nails and taking off crazy glitters. I love using this balm for my cuticles since it keeps them nice and soft, even when it comes in contact with acetone.

Buy it again? Yes! This is a great balm, even if I have to reapply a lot. It is such a treat for my cuticles. They just drink this stuff in and look soft and pretty instead of raggedy and fugly. The product is all natural and vegan; no preservatives or parabens! In addition, all proceeds from Shepherdess’ bath and beauty products go towards her rescue animals (cats, dogs, sheep, goats, chickens & more) for care and a happy life.

Shepherdess Cuticle Treatment is an amazing, non-sticky, non-greasy cuticle oil that comes in a roller ball.

I really like it! It’s lightweight and doesn’t require rubbing in. I love how it’s not greasy so I don’t leave smear marks all over my electronics after I use it. The roller ball makes it easy to control how much you apply to your cuticles.

I usually apply it before I take off my nail polish and after I finish my manicure. This sinks in quickly leaving my cuticles not scraggly and moisturized.

I’m not sure how much this retails for, as I don’t see it on her website or her Etsy page, but Jackie is very nice! If you message her, she could probably give you more information about it. I also messaged her asking if she will be re-listing it in the future, so I will update this post when I receive a response.

Maybelline ColorShow 350 Blue Freeze is a gorgeous navy shimmer with bits of blue and purple. Not the most unique shade in the world though. There are many iterations of this for cheaper. Pictured above is two coats.

I found this at Walgreens. It comes in a .23 fl. oz (7 mL) bottle for $5.99.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam I Believe in Fairies!!!! Ahhhhhh!!!! I am usually really bad at posting polishes right away, but I thought this was too gorgeous not to post. This is beautiful!!!! It has a bunch of iridescent rainbow bits of hex and microglitter and stars. The glitter is fairly well suspended in this. I didn’t need to shake it to get the stars on my nails. It has been sitting on my mantle for a month or so and none of the glitter settled. Win! This is one coat over Maybelline ColorShow 350 Blue Freeze. Really pretty.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam is an indie brand made by Pam! I have only placed one order with her so far, but she was lovely to deal with and she shipped very quickly. Her way of purchasing is a little quirky though. She asks you to email her your order, and she will send you an order total. You have to PayPal her yourself. Her bottles retail for $10 each. For more information, check her Facebook! (And while you’re on Facebook, “like” my page too!)

Disclaimer: this polish is really sheer and shows my naked & stained nails. Do not look if you don’t want to see it… As much as I hate it, I feel like I’d be doing people a disservice if I didn’t show just how much this polish doesn’t hide.

Revlon Sheer Seafoam… yeah. Talk about sheer. Hello, stained nails (courtesy of Booty Babe Mossy Bossy). Generally when polishes name their colors sheer something, it’s not that bad. This time, Revlon wasn’t kidding around. Sheer Seafoam is sheer. Which is lame. Look at that bottle color! It looks like such a pretty, squishy jelly. I think achieving that color is an impossible task. Pictured above is 5 or 6 coats. I can’t even remember which ’cause it was that many…

If you like sheer polishes, this is for you! If you don’t like sheer polishes, avoid at all costs!

SoFlaJo Enchantment is a duochrome topcoat from her Year of the Dragon collection. The colors in the topcoat vary with base color used. In this I used Sally Hansen Night Flight, which is a black creme. The predominant colors in Enchantment over a black creme are green/blue with little bits of holographic sparkle. Super pretty!

Pictured above is one coat. It applied evenly and smoothly, with no problems whatsoever!

SoFlaJo polishes are available from her website. Each full sized bottle retails for $10. Minis are $5.

Red Carpet Lacquer Colonel Mustard is a mustard yellow jelly with bits of copper and black glitter. I absolutely love this. It’s such an unusual and unique color. The jelly base is fairly opaque as well. I achieved a suitable opacity with two coats, which are shown above. The second coat really changed what the first coat looked like and I wish I had taken a photo of what it looked like. The second coat “muddied” a lot of the glitter bits you see above, so if you don’t like how many of the glitters look hidden in the yellow base, you could wear this on top of OPI The “IT” Color.

All in all though, I am very, very pleased with this funky and unique color. It has great opacity. It dries quickly. It’s not very gritty, nor is it a top coat eater.

Colonel Mustard is from Red Carpet Lacquer’s new collection, the Clue collection, inspired by the Clue game and movie. It has been ages since I’ve played the game, and I’ve never seen the movie, but this color really nails the mustard part.

This collection will be available on Friday, May 4th! Each color will retail for $8. “Like” Red Carpet Lacquer on Facebook for updates on when the collection will be live, and keep on checking her Etsy page.

Price: Zombie Momz Vicious Vanilla Cream retails for $6.25 including shipping on their Etsy page. Each jar contains 2 oz.

Packaging: This hand cream is packaged in a narrow jar. I’m not a fan of jars and hand cream because I always get it stuck under my nails and that’s kind of annoying. But that’s just me.

Texture & absorbance: This lotion is light and absorbs quickly.

Scent: The scent is very, very, very vanilla-y, almost to the point where it is overwhelming and overpowering.

Zoo Factor & Acetone Addict: Okay, so based on the name, I was so excited to try this. Zombies have dry, flaky skin. Mom[z] can have dry, flaky skin from doing mom things with their kids. The combination of the two should have equaled the best hand cream ever, right? Right? WRONG. I don’t know how, but this hand cream managed to make my hands drier than they were before I applied it.

Buy it again? No way, Jose. My hands are dry enough without needing to put hand cream on to make them drier.
