Apparently, nobody knew what Greenpeace was or that there was such a thing as «climate change» or «global warming» before this guy joined Green Peace three years ago.

i can't help but feel really pumped about all of the ripple effects of our action last week. i've gotten texts, emails and fb messages from friends that have seen us on the news, including the NYT article cited above. pretty damn sweet when no one knew what greenpeace was when i started working here almost 3 years ago.

oh how things can change! 3 years ago, bush was still in power, the public thought that global warming was just another thing that could be swept under the rug, and the phrase «climate legislation» was found in enviornmentalist's pipe dreams... oh wait. that one is still a pipe dream. )

I'm thinking he should do a bit more reading, research, learn some history, and learn grammer and punctuation. But he's pretty proud of their brave vandalism and defacing of Mount Rushmore.

Oh, and he wants me and everybody else to live like people did hundreds of years ago.

all i really want is a car that i dont need gas for... a house that runs on 100% renewables... a garden where i can compost... and clean water. i want that for myself, my neighbors, my fellow americans and the world. i think thats what most environmentalists want - a cleaner, greener future. actually, i think that it is what most people want for themselves and their loved ones. if that is the case, what's stopping it from happening?

Maybe, after thousands and thousands of years of trying, we can finally get wind and solar to solve all our problems.

As Main Street Blog has already reported, here and here, General Motors, aka Government Motors, has petitioned the bankruptcy court to «terminate outright the Stillwater Palladium and Rhodium Supply Agreement» they have with Stillwater Mining Company.

Here's an American company bailed our by American tax dollars dropping the only American miner of palladium. Especially during this time of economic difficulties.

I applaud Gov. Schweitzer for his quick action in sending a letter off to Geithner and Summers, Co-Chairs Auto Task Force, Department of the Treasury. I challenge Rehberg, Baucus and Tester to do the same and am disappointed they haven't done so already.

Gov. Schweitzer said it well: (Here's a link to his letter in my Microsoft Live account Skydrive Public Folder. I don't know if it will work.)

«What offends me the most, however, is that while attempting to cease entirely its business with Stillwater, the United States' sole mine producer of palladium, and simultaneously accepting billions of dollars in taxpayers' money, General Motors intends to continue to honor palladium supply contracts with suppliers from outside of the United States.»

I also have a copy of the letter Stillwater CEO Frank McAllister sent to his employees. Here's a great quote from him:

«We certainly recognize that the current economic downturn has decimated the automotive industry, forcing GM and others to make some difficult choices. At the same time it seems disingenuous to me, during a period when preserving American jobs is such a high domestic priority, that GM, while receiving immense financial support from the U.S. government, would elect, as I understand it, to continue its supply agreements with foreign palladium suppliers while seeking to terminate an agreement with the sole U.S. miner of palladium.»

The British Paper The Sun reports that the Jackson funeral was a «Memorial like a macabre circus». I knew it would be, just like his entire life.

This wasn't a memorial for a pop icon or the greatest entertainer the world has ever seen.

It was a reminder of why MICHAEL JACKSON became a deeply unhappy, lonely man living an utterly bizarre existence.

It was a macabre circus.

Taking children to a funeral is one of the most difficult decisions a parent will ever have to make.

But the King of Pop's young daughter speaking as the climax of the memorial just wasn't right.

Paris didn't look comfortable and more importantly, capable, of doing it.

As the family gathered on stage I was surprised to see the children being paraded in front of a gold coffin holding the remains of their beloved father.

Since it was the only thing on last night over and over and over again, I ended up watching most of it. I agree with the author at The Sun - no wonder MJ was a freak. Watching the memorial was bizarre. He was surrounded by strange and bizarre people.

And what the hell was up with all the sunglasses? Isn't the Staples Center indoors?

Ever since Micheal Michael Jackson died there has been this non stop news coverage about his life all the way through how he died. I don't watch much TV any more but when I do flip it on to catch up on the news, it's all about MJ. Even my favorite network, Fox, seems to be fixated on the freak.

I am disappointed in the amount of coverage and adulation this freak is getting. He «slept» with children and paid off their families. He lived in an amusement park called Neverland. He hired people to conceive and bear his children. Those kids have no MJ DNA in them, have you seen them? He altered his appearance so much through plastic surgery and bleaching he looked like a freakish monster. In fact, my kids were surprised to learn he was black! There's more but you get the point.

Sure he was talented and yes, I own the Thriller album. What child of the 80s doesn't? But, bottom line, the guy was a freak and to give him this much adulation is a sad, sad commentary on our pop culture.
