Bosworth was born January 2, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. At the age of six, Bosworth’s family relocated California to various parts of the country due to her father’s job. She was raised mainly on the East Coast, spending the rest of her youth in Massachusetts and Connecticut. …Alright enough about that and on to the fun stuff!

Besides acting and singing, Kate’s life passion has always been horse racing – so much that she even wanted to become a professional horse racer. She grew up riding horses, and was a champion equestrian at the age of 14. Her first film role came after an open casting call in New York for the supporting part of Judith in the 1998 film, The Horse Whisperer. The film’s producers needed someone who was already an experienced horse rider, leading to Bosworth’s successful audition for the role. The film received positive reception from film critics and got her the recognition to make a career as an actress.

In a 2004 interview with ESPN she explained her first experiences with horses, “I started riding horses when I was 6. The first time I got on a horse I got kicked off so badly that I probably should have broken every bone in my body. It was so bad. It was on a hard dirt trail. I was with my aunt and she was leading the horse and it just kicked me off and I went plop. That was my first experience and I think if you have an experience like that you either go ‘OK, wait a minute, I’m getting back on and I’m mastering this because this is something I want to do,’ or you fear it the rest of your life. And for me, it was wanting to get back on. And from then on, I used to live on the West Coast when I was young and rode western. When I moved to Connecticut I rode English and started jumping.” – Interview with ESPN.com

Nowadays she’s a busy actress, model, and singer, so her riding time is limited. When asked about it she said, “My dream is to one day have a farm somewhere and have my horses and to be able to go there when I want. My aunt has two horses here in L.A. and we’ll go trail riding. But I miss jumping. I dream about it. Really, I dream about riding horses almost every week.”

Now we’ve seen it all! On June 1st, a delicate and adorable deer takes on the track at Keeneland Racecourse in Lexington, Kentucky. She “gallops” smoothly across the finish line after a horse who was training. This deer might be ready for the big leagues soon! What do you think?

Ann Romney, wife of former presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, made an appearance on CBS Thursday morning by herself for the first time since the election.

Several questions were directed to Ann Romney regarding her husband’s campaign and whether she would have changed anything or if she had any bitter feelings. Yet Romney remained positive, explaining that the presidential campaign was something she and her husband had decided to do because they felt like it could be a service to the country.

After answering some tough questions about the 8 year campaign and Mitt Romney’s image towards the end, she was able to relax and explain what her life is like now.

“He’s been the most extraordinary husband this winter for me because I’ve been able to do something that I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time, which is ride (horses) a lot, and compete a lot ,and showing a lot, and Mitt’s been right there supporting me, and coming with me, and watching me and helping me,” Romney said.

The Romneys will return to Utah next week, June 5-8, for an event Mitt Romney will host for business leaders and politicians, the “Experts and Enthusiasts” summit held in Park City.

Ann Romney also was announced as one of the presenters at “Time Out for Women.” The event will take place on Nov. 22-23 in Salt Lake City.

Being a horse person, I was a little was a little irked by the thought of a horse in a zoo… but apparently this isn’t just any horse. It’s a Przewalski horse and “[It’s] considered the only remaining truly wild horse in the world,” the zoo said. It is believed there are more than 300 Przewalski’s horses in the wild, and the Denver Zoo has just a small herd of them.

The breed is also known as Mongalian wild horse or Asiastic wild horse. The zoo records this type of horse actually went extinct in its homeland of Europe and Asia before a reintroduction program brought it back in the 1990’s. They can do this?!

Alright, enough about the bizarre history. In the picture above you’ll see Mother Yisun and her new baby she gave birth to on May 31st. The zoo explains, “The foal is active under the watchful eye of first-time father Bataar, but zookeepers have yet to determine its gender. It’s the first Przewalski’s foal since 1991”.

I’m not entirely sure why they can’t tell the baby horse’s gender? Shouldn’t that be pretty obvious??!! Then again, this is not your traditional horse breed….
