Denver, Colorado - (The Hosting News) - July 2, 2009 - Managed hosting and colocation solutions provider, Hosting.com, is expanding by opening a 30,000 square foot datacenter and 13,000 square foot corporate complex in the Denver metro area in late August.

Joel Daly, COO of Hosting.com remarked, ''By operating five datacenters from coast to coast, we provide our clients with unparalleled solution and service options. Our business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) enhancements will provide clients with cost-effective means to achieve and test true disaster recovery and fault tolerance.''

Company owners Art Zeile and Joel Daly have operated three successful high-tech firms, all headquartered in Denver, including InFlow, Inc., sold to Sungard in 2005.

The demand for secure, reliable colocation space in Denver continues to outpace availability. Art Zeile, Hosting.com CEO, commented, ''We are excited to serve a very large need in Denver with this new datacenter. Colocation space with our high level of service and support is absent from downtown. We will grow aggressively over the next 24 months through a national platform of managed and secure services; we are excited that Denver is at the center of our growth.''

Hosting.com will occupy a historic Ford Model T factory retrofitted to their specifications for the expansion. The location takes advantage of a strong network topology, multiple power grids, and close proximity to fully redundant fiber feeds from Tier 1 providers. The datacenter will incorporate Hosting.com Smart Design Standards and provide up to 10 Gb/sec of redundant connectivity for bandwidth routing optimization as well as 200 watts/sq ft of power and cooling. It will be the only datacenter of its kind in downtown Denver.

In addition to hosting and colocation services, the new facility will support Hosting.com's new cloud hosting platforms, Cloud Enterprise and Cloud Private. Hosting.com currently operates SAS 70 Type II certified datacenters in Irvine, CA; Louisville, KY; Newark, DE; and San Francisco, CA. Hosting.com's cloud and virtualization solutions coupled with a geographically dispersed datacenter network allows their clients to take full advantage of their services for redundancy, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery solutions for their web enabled businesses and technology infrastructure.

Hosting.com provides enterprise colocation, cloud computing, dedicated hosting, managed hosting, disaster recovery, and business continuance services to a global customer base demanding a high level of security, reliability, and responsiveness. Hosting.com monitors, manages, and enhances the Web-based platforms of Web 2.0 companies, software as a service (SaaS) providers, content distribution networks (CDN), and medium to large enterprises whose Web presence is crucial and high availability mandatory.

Santa Clara, California - (The Hosting News) - July 2, 2009 - The NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE) 6.7 has been released by web hosting provider, Sun Microsystems, Inc. and the NetBeans developer community.

The new version of NetBeans features tight integration with Project Kenai, Sun's collaborative hosting site for free and open source projects. Developers can download the free, full-featured NetBeans IDE 6.7 at www.netbeans.org.

Jim Parkinson, vice president of Developer Products and Programs at Sun remarked, ''The advances in the latest version of NetBeans will have a huge impact in the productivity of developers. The integration between NetBeans and Kenai allows developers to stay in their IDE and quickly navigate between Kenai.com, local code, bug reports, IM chats and project wikis. Instead of interruptions, interactions with code, or looking for project information, team members become a natural part of the developers' workflow.''

The tight integration of the new NetBeans IDE will enable millions of developers to discuss, edit, debug and commit code through one easy-to-use interface. Other key features of NetBeans IDE 6.7 include:

Support for Maven, a community   software project management and comprehension tool;

New Team menu provides access to projects on Kenai.com;

Automated continuous integration system with Hudson, an extensible Java-based   solution to which makes it easier for developers to integrate changes to their   project, and makes it easier for users to obtain a fresh build;

Improved PHP support allowing developers to connect with each other and the   latest technologies;

Support for Zembly, a single registry and repository of popular Web APIs. The Zembly Client Library NetBeans plug-in enables developers to discover popular APIs and with a simple Drag and Drop functionality, create the necessary code to consume the APIs from Java and JavaFX applications.

The integration with Kenai.com will allow developers to stay in the IDE to create projects in the cloud, get sources from Kenai projects, query, open and edit issues for them using Bugzilla. NetBeans IDE users can also quickly navigate between Kenai.com hosted projects and local sources while developers can easily stay connected with other team members with an integrated chat, Kenai's user profiles, wikis, and mailing lists. Learn more about Project Kenai at www.kenai.com.

Other highlights of the NetBeans IDE 6.7 release includes improved PHP and GlassFish software support. The NetBeans IDE provides a rich set of features for Ruby, Groovy, and JavaScript and other technologies. Support for JavaFX 1.2 technology is currently available for NetBeans IDE 6.5.1 and will soon be available for NetBeans IDE 6.7. Learn more at www.netbeans.org/features.

Sun also offers a tiered set of developer support services for its software offerings, ranging from single incident to comprehensive developer plans. In addition, with a broad portfolio of training and certification offerings, developers can enhance their skill sets to take advantage of cutting-edge technologies.

Mountain View, California - (The Hosting News) - July 2, 2009 - The next version of Gear6 Web Cache, specifically targeting the needs of cloud providers, has been released by provider of scalable Memcached solutions, Gear6.

Joaquin Ruiz, Executive Vice President of Products noted, ''As more applications move to the cloud, hosting providers are challenged to simultaneously augment their infrastructure, differentiate their services, provide data security and scale economically. Today, Memcached is already a fundamental pillar in horizontally scaling web applications within all top origin sites. Gear6 Web Cache 2.3 delivers the integration, security, performance and scalability that cloud providers require in order to easily and effectively deliver advanced Memcached functionality to all their hosted customers, enabling those customers to virtually scale like the big guys.''

Gear6 Web Cache version 2.3 includes multi-tenancy capabilities with secured Memcached zones that enable managed hosting (MHP) and cloud service providers to deliver Memcached as a service to their customers. With Gear6 Web Cache, hosted web sites can scale out more effectively for improved performance and continuous data availability.

Released in April and already deployed in a number of top 500 websites, Gear6 Web Cache helps fast growing media, social networking, content aggregation, and other dynamic websites to cost effectively scale their Memcached infrastructure. The results are improved site performance, increased visibility into application and infrastructure tiers, and more than a 60% reduction in typical capital and operational expenses.

The new multi-tenancy support in Gear6 Web Cache 2.3 includes IP address sharing, higher levels of security with IP-based access control list and filtering, and rich programmatic access of Gear6 Web Cache. Managed hosting and cloud providers can easily offload Memcached workloads onto Gear6 Web Cache and federate the service to many customers.

Other key new features in Gear6 Web Cache 2.3 include: -- A web services interface for programmatic management of the Gear6 platform. This makes it easier to integrate with interfaces used by managed hosting and cloud providers. -- Reporting of Memcached statistics via SNMP, which lets customers plug into their existing alerting and reporting infrastructure. -- New advanced reporter providing in-depth detail on cache usage, cache health, items, storage, clients and keys; and a new mobile version of the advanced reporter that enables users to view cache statistics on mobile devices. -- Support for up to 384GB of Memcached memory space per rack unit of data center space.

Gear6 Web Cache 2.3: Availability and Early Access for Cloud Providers

This new version of Gear6 Web Cache will be available as part of an early access program for MHP and cloud providers by 30 July 2009. Gear6 is currently accepting applications from MHP and cloud providers interested in evaluating Gear6 Web Cache 2.3.

Gear6 is the first and leading provider of scalable Memcached solutions, enabling high-growth media, social networking and content aggregation web sites to deliver and scale dynamic applications and content. By focusing on the emerging need for a dedicated web caching tier, Gear6 solutions dramatically improve the scalability of web applications and databases, improving quality of service and reducing infrastructure cost. Gear6's flagship offering is Gear6 Web Cache, a Memcached protocol-compliant solution that enables web site developers and operators to scale web services and applications, to save money, rack space, power and time, to protect users and sites from failures and traffic spikes, and to manage all aspects of caching operations. Gear6 corporate headquarters are in Mountain View, California.

Herndon, Virginia - (<A href="http://www.thehostingnews.com/"target=_blank>The Hosting News) - July 1, 2009 - Web hosting provider, domain name registration and services firm, Network Solutions, recently announced, in celebration of Independence Day, that it will offer .US names at a discounted price.

Sean Kaine of Network Solutions remarked, ''The World Wide Web is moving beyond .com. As new top level domains are being added, the .US domain name extension remains a popular alternative for domain name registrations.''

After the original .com, .net and .org domain name extensions, .US is one of the most popular among United States individuals. The .US domain name is useful in signifying that a business is American owned and operated, as well as for companies for whom the business name .com domain name extension is taken by another organization.

Surrounding the July 4th celebration of Independence Day in the US, Network Solutions will have a banner on their Web site storefront offering access to the $9.99 .US domain name promotion.

Mr. Kaine added, ''Registering a .US domain is just as easy as before. But this discount offers added incentive.''

Network Solutions is a provider of web solutions and domain name registration services, offers a full range of web-related services, including web hosting, web design, e-commerce software, search engine marketing, SSL certificates, e-mail services and domain name registration.

Ann Arbor, Michigan - (The Hosting News) - July 1, 2009 - Web hosting service provider and Magento hosting solutions company, NEXCESS.NET has indicated that since the launch of its new Magento SIP hosting plans, which debuted in May, they have become their fastest-selling hosting plan.

Chris Wells, CEO of Nexcess remarked, ''We've been really gratified with the feedback. We were sure we'd put together a winning package geared specifically towards clients who were interested in running Magento-based online stores and were happy to see that we'd hit the mark. The popularity of the plans has necessitated adding new SIP servers faster than anticipated. We actually had to scramble a bit at first to keep up with the demand - but we keep plenty of extra hardware at our data center both for SIPs and all our other hosting plans, so there were no fulfillment problems.''

Mr. Wells added, ''Magento is a complex piece of software, and we've put a lot of effort into figuring out how to make it run optimally. A lot of our competitors try to run Magento as if it were just another piece of web software. It clearly needs a specialized environment to provide the performance level e-commerce sites require. Customers can really tell a difference when they move to a SIP from a generic one-size-fits-all solution.''

The Magento SIP (Secure Isolated Platform) plans consist of carefully chosen software and hardware which have been extensively tested and optimized to run the Magento e-commerce software as securely and efficiently as possible. The plans have proved popular because they include everything needed to get a Magento web store up and running smoothly, according to Wells.

Nexcess will be expanding their Magento SIP plans in the near future to include the recently released Enterprise edition of the Magento software, and will also offer SIP plans that use load-balanced clusters for very high traffic hosting scenarios.

Mr. Wells concluded, ''We were the first Magento Enterprise hosting partner, and can offer customized hosting packages using the Enterprise software. We'll be updating our offerings to include Magento Enterprise Edition SIPs very soon.''

NEXCESS.NET is an Ann Arbor, Mich. based company specializing in web hosting solutions, offering a range of services from shared hosting to complex multi-server configurations. NEXCESS.NET provides custom hosting solutions for traffic heavy and high profile websites of all genres. NEXCESS.NET owns and operates its private data center in Dearborn, Michigan and currently services thousands of clients worldwide.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - (The Hosting News) - June 30, 2009 - Carrier-neutral data center in Amsterdam that operates fully CO2-neutral, EvoSwitch, has entered into a contract operator and owner of Wikipedia, with The Wikimedia Foundation.

As part of the contract, Evoswitch is providing over 300,000 euros of in-kind support in the form of bandwidth and hosting services. Wikimedia will use the Amsterdam site as its HUB for Europe.

Brion Vibber, Chief Technology Officer for the Foundation explained, ''We're very pleased with EvoSwitch's professional and well secured data center environment, which includes a highly cost-efficient infrastructure in a location that is of great strategic importance to us. We will be using the Amsterdam site for caching in particular, aiming to reduce the response time of our project websites in Europe. EvoSwitch will also be a good location for backing up content that is stored at our Florida data center. Finally, we will be relocating European publishing projects to EvoSwitch, such as Toolserver.org - a project of the German Wikimedia chapter.''

The Wikimedia Foundation manages eight distinct, open, wiki based publishing projects, including the free online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Wikipedia is consistently ranked one of the top five most visited websites in the world by comScore MediaMetrix, serving billions of page views every month. All Wikimedia's publishing projects are hosted on a central data infrastructure based in Florida, USA. The complementary part of the infrastructure will now be based in Amsterdam at the EvoSwitch data center.

Mr. Vibber considers the environmentally friendly nature of EvoSwitch another advantage. Mr. Vibber added, ''As operators of one of the most heavily accessed web property on the web, we are aware of the impact that the Internet and its energy consumption have on the environment. EvoSwitch's energy-saving measures, combined with their use of green energy and CO2 compensation are very attractive to us.''

The Wikimedia Foundation's hosting infrastructure in Florida encompasses over 300 servers. The Foundation will install about 50 servers at the EvoSwitch site in Amsterdam.

According to Mr. Vibber, ''The Amsterdam servers will both retrieve the content from the servers in Florida, as well as store it. Web pages can then be displayed to Internet users directly from Amsterdam, which will improve the speed and accessibility of the web pages in Europe significantly. I expect that we will further increase our capacity at EvoSwitch in the near future due to the required storage capacity and new European publishing projects.''

The Wikimedia Foundation is a nonprofit organization with idealistic objectives that are in line with EvoSwitch's corporate objectives. &

Eric Boonstra, Commercial Director at EvoSwitch remarked, ''We are strong supporters of Wikimedia and their Wikipedia publishing project in particular, confirms The Foundation's operations coincide with the objectives of our own organization, to keep the Internet 'open' and stimulate freedom of expression and the transmission of knowledge via the Internet. This partnership is all the more special to us because of Wikimedia's faith in EvoSwitch.''

The Wikimedia Foundation is the non-profit organization which operates Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. According to comScore Media Metrix, Wikipedia and the other projects operated by the Wikimedia Foundation receive more than 300 million unique visitors per month, making them the 4th most popular web property world-wide. Available in more than 265 languages, Wikipedia contains more than 12 million articles contributed by a global volunteer community of more than 100,000 people. Based in San Francisco, California, the Wikimedia Foundation is an audited, 501(c)(3) charity that is funded primarily through donations and grants.

The new tutorials are divided into 5 separate series as follows:
Joomla New Setup series (20 demos)
Joomla New Admin series (17 demos)
Joomla New CMS series (17 demos)

Joomla is a very popular, open source content management system for publishing content on the internet. It is widely offered by web hosting companies, and very easy to use. The five new Joomla series offered by DemoWolf allow web hosts to easily offer support to their customers who use Joomla.
Rob Moore, president of DemoWolf explained, ''When web hosts purchase tutorials from DemoWolf, we customize them for the host by placing their company logo in the first and last frame of every tutorial. By making support tutorials available to customers, hosting companies are saving up to 80% on their support tickets or more, because instead of calling your support department, customers will watch the tutorials, and get the help they need themselves.''
