(The Hosting News) – SpamTitan Technologies, a division of Copperfasten Technologies, today announced the launch of WebTitan, a powerful web filtering solution. WebTitan is designed to be the most comprehensive filtering solution for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), requiring a powerful, easy-to-manage and cost-effective solution that ensures online employee activity is protected from threats and adheres to corporate internet policies.

WebTitan allows businesses to tightly control which websites can be accessed at work and when. WebTitan also adds value by reducing cost, increasing productivity, improving network security and reducing bandwidth demands along with flexible reporting and tight firewall integration.

The product is available in two formats: as a software image suite with its own complete operating system for self-build (WebTitan ISO); and as a virtual appliance (WebTitan for VMWare). Real-time content filtering of images and text and strict application controls help WebTitan to block access to inappropriate content. Another key feature is WebTitan’s ability to reinforce company defences by providing URL filtering of up to 53 customisable categories including tens’ of millions of URL’s. The product uses a cloud-based database and real-time classification system to provide an unmatched combination of accurate and scalable coverage.

”Organisations need to adopt a multi-layered web defence strategy that can protect their users and networks from increasingly sophisticated threats,’ said Ronan Kavanagh, CEO of SpamTitan Technologies. “We were one of the first vendors to offer a virtualised anti-spam appliance for SMBs and now we are one of the first to offer virtualised content filtering. Advantages such as ease of deployment, streamlined redundancy and backup, and the key benefits of scalability and mobility, have made virtual appliances increasingly popular with customers.”

“This virtual aspect in conjunction with extensive functionality, in-depth reporting and unmatched accuracy sets WebTitan apart from all other web filtering solutions,” he added.

The product is available for free download from the WebTitan website at http://www.webtitan.com. WebTitan offers organisations protection for their data from malware and other internet threats such as viruses, spyware and phishing as well as providing user policy browsing tools to ensure corporate internet policy is adhered to.

WebTitan will be holding a series of web seminars for customers to demonstrate the features and benefits of the WebTitan web filtering solution. To access the seminars, visit the WebTitan website at http://www.webtitan.com.

Pricing & Availability
Available immediately, WebTitan ISO and WebTitan for VMware costs from $850. WebTitan licences are banded offering greater flexibility and based on the number of IP addresses accessing the internet concurrently.

(The Hosting News) – AIT, Inc. announced free search engine advertising to web hosting and domain registration customers. For over fourteen years Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT, Inc. http://www.AIT.com) provided a global market with rich featured web hosting and domain name registration. The company was among the first to develop virtual private server technology allowing it to build a massive reseller base of webmasters and developers. AIT began as a web hosting reseller in a garage then grew to its current facility, a 93,000 square foot state of art Data Center and services customers in over 107 countries globally. AITs Founder and CEO Clarence Briggs, a former Infantry Officer in the United States Army, is a testament to risk and taking chances. Briggs is a two time combat veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. The business battlefield is riddled with products and services all trying to convince prospects that their offering is superior. That said, free search engine advertisement for our customers fills a valuable need in such a competitive climate and economic recession,” Said Briggs.

AIT is the parent company of tyBit (http://www.tyBit.com) a unified search platform created to directly compete within the search industries pay per click advertising model. Advertising is only expensive when it doesnt work and tyBit receives about 70 million searches per month with thousands of advertisers benefiting from the key word searches,” continued Briggs. Given that tyBit offers interactive advertising alternatives including not only PPC but PPP or unlimited clicks to its advertisements for a flat fee based on time is a promising alternative to the current advertising models offered by the traditional search engines.

Briggs believes the tyBit PPP model will make interactive advertising a mainstream phenomenon like the automobile, personal PC and cellular phone. “If we can create value for subscribers, partners, and advertisers in a cost-effective manner using a virtual conveyor belt and assembly line, we will take the secret out of secret sauce and achieve mass market penetration,” said Briggs. “Publishers and Affiliate Resellers get their share of online advertising dollars,” said Briggs. “Subscribers want accelerated search, better relevancy, personalized results and privacy. Advertisers want fairness, customization, accountability, and transparency. “tyBit delivers,” said Briggs.

AITs offering of free search engine advertisement for its customers includes up to $1000.00 in credits on select hosting plans. tyBit which in October processed over 100 million search queries has over 8000 direct advertisers which includes many top brands and fortune 500 companies. tyBits affiliate and partner network span the globe And not only provide quality traffic to advertisers but offer substantial revenue sharing in an all inclusive dashboard which reports earnings.

(The Hosting News) – In October, Sidekick users experienced the acute distress of losing their data files—apparently forever. If corporate networks lose information, their pain is magnified. The number and size of the files lost may be thousands or millions times greater. The loss may even kill the patient, shutting down a business permanently. Comodo Backup 2.1 protects against data loss crises by taking real-time backups of user data, with more flexibility and control than ever, and still for free.

New features in Comodo Backup include step-by-step wizards to guide even novice users through the entire backup, restore and scheduling procedures, and real-time backups. The synchronization feature creates real-time backups by copying files over as soon as they are modified.

Granular scheduling options enable administrators to take automatic backups to suit demanding schedules.

Comodo Backup 2.1 also includes resource management options that allow the user to run backups when the computer is idle or at a certain interval after startup – meaning the program will not contribute to the usual process jam that occurs immediately after a user logs on.

To be sure that the information once backed up is inaccessible to unauthorized personnel, powerful encryption options protect data.

Live system data is always at risk, mostly from power outages and user error. Should the backed-up data be needed, Comodo Backup’s built in integrity checker verifies the integrity of backup files before committing to a restore, and Comodo Backup allows the user to search within the image file for a particular file name.

Comodo Backup quickly backs up entire network and virtual drives or individual files or folders to local computers, network drives or FTP server, according to the administrator’s preset configuration. Backup preset instructions include mail folders, Windows registries, messenger archives, and master boot records.

The new release also includes support for scripting and command line operation.

PEER 1 the global online business hosting provider, today announces it has signed more than 100 customers, including GreenProfs, BullionVault and ElasticHosts, in its first three months of UK operations following its May 2009 launch.
PEER 1 Signs 100 Business Hosting Customers in Three Months is a post from: Hosting News and Reseller Web Hosting information.

(The Hosting News) – Dominic Monkhouse, UK MD at PEER 1 commented: “Our business has performed well in our first three months of operations. Customers are responding to the quality of our service and our network and those who have started working with us are already showing very positive satisfaction feedback, which is exactly how PEER 1 wants to operate.

“Our plan is simple: keep working with customers to give them what they need, without any of the things they don’t, and this will continue to build our foundations in Europe,” Monkhouse added.

Greenprofs was one of PEER 1 UK’s first customers. It runs an online news site focusing on environmental news, events and jobs. Initially Greenprofs was launched as a group on LinkedIn, but it grew so quickly it needed scalable dedicated server bandwidth to support its 46,000 strong subscriber community.

John Horsley, founder of Greenprofs, comments: “Greenprofs has experienced tremendous growth since we launched in 2008. The increased traffic to the website has meant that in order to keep up with postings and uploads, we needed a hosting provider that could guarantee continued uptime. Since moving to PEER 1’s dedicated hosting arm, ServerBeach, we have been able to improve the speed of the site, cut down time as well as improve our Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).”

BullionVault.com is another recent customer to join PEER 1. It provides online gold trading services and needed global reach for its hosting with local points-of-presence to enable trades to transact immediately without latency that could affect the
trading price.

Kris Jenkins, CTO at BullionVault.com commented, “We looked at a number of web hosting companies but none could offer the customised service ServerBeach is providing us with. Although we have a relatively low headcount, we have global customer reach. We wanted to bypass the hassle of having different hosting providers in each country, without paying the earth for global presence.”

ElasticHosts recently became the first partner for PEER 1’s UK CloudXcelerator programme. As the only Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider to offer two independent data centres in Europe, ElasticHosts uses PEER 1’s 10 Gbps SuperNetwork™ to provide robust hosting support and scalability for business critical cloud services.

Richard Davies, ElasticHosts CEO, said, “Being part of the CloudXcelerator programme gives us quick, secure access to managed hardware and network. As we look to grow our business, working with PEER 1 will help us stay ahead of the market. With PEER 1 continuing to expand across Europe, we will be able to take full advantage as we develop – and continue to reap the benefits we’re already seeing.”

(The Hosting News) – 1&1 has chosen the Across Language Server for translating and publishing its hosting and e-commerce solutions into various languages. By using the centralized translation management software platform from Across Systems, 1&1 has already shortened the turn-around time of extensive projects, with 80,000 or more words, by up to 75 percent.

1&1’s subsidiary, GMX, has also recently started to implement the Across Language Server. To facilitate efficient localization of Website content and text, the Across Language Server is connected to its Web Content Management System, as well as to additional editing and Content Management Systems that are used for document creation.

“We chose Across because they provide optimum support for the localization of software products,” explains Sebastian Zientek, Director of Technical Documentation, Web hosting product development at 1&1. “Across offers ideal solutions for the localization of software user interfaces, the buttons and menu items, as well as online help tools and technical documentation.”

Due to 1&1’s large global market presence, daily business operations require multiple documents to be promptly and efficiently translated into various languages. For the Web hosting and e-shop solutions, this means that the software user interfaces, online assistance, FAQs, product documentation, and user manuals, as well as the control center, need to be localized and translated into the language of the respective target market. The Across Language Server serves these translation needs for 1&1.

The Across Language Server includes a translation memory and a terminology system for centralized management and maintenance of language data, as well as powerful workflow components for controlling and processing internal and external translation jobs. In this way, all parties involved in the localization process can be seamlessly integrated. “External colleagues and language service providers are just as immediately involved in the translation processes as our internal translators who sit in the office next door,” explains Sebastian Zientek.

Data handling is also of central importance for 1&1. “Due to the direct connection of our Content Management System to the Across Language Server, we can fully utilize the single source publishing for our multilingual content. We can now use one and the same multilingual content for different target media, for online as well as print publications,” explains Sebastian Zientek. “The potential savings are tremendous and they are leading to extraordinary efficiency gains within my team.”

(The Hosting News) – Internetters, one of the leading providers of domain names, web hosting and email services in the UK, has this week announced significant enhancements to its range of shared hosting solutions

Of the main enhancements to the Internetters web hosting range, perhaps the most significant is the move to unlimited bandwidth, bringing that particular element back in line with many competitors on the market. With varying degrees of bandwidth usage previously available depending on hosting package, customers buying any of the four web hosting packages will now receive unlimited bandwidth usage.

In addition, the management of MySQL databases has been improved, with easier upgrade channels, faster provisioning and reduced pricing making it easier for customers to expand their database driven websites.

“The fact that we’ve been making some significant improvements to our service is no secret after recent announcements in relation to our domain names, our VPS partnership and the general makeover of the website.” Comments Errol Vanderhorst, Managing Director at Internetters.

“It was the turn of web hosting this time and the inclusion of unlimited bandwidth and upgrades to MySQL management are just the start of a process that will see several new features and upgrades introduced in the coming months”

Internetters is an established UK based web service provider offering domain names, web hosting and email services to suit the requirements of both consumers and businesses throughout the UK and beyond. A variety of recent service updates has seen a positive reaction from its global customer base and the company continues to put together plans for further improvement to cement its position as one of the leading providers in the UK.

Errol continued, “The web hosting and domain names markets are incredibly competitive in the UK and beyond, and our changes are focused on making sure the brand continually stays competitive, both in terms of generating new custom and in making sure our current customer base is happy.”

(The Hosting News) – Helicon Tech has released an update to its Apache emulator for Microsoft IIS, Ape, 3.0, which implements Apache’s runtime environment with all most demanded modules and direct .htaccess support, inside IIS. Now it can be used free of charge on up to three websites on a server. Packed in a single IIS add-on, the emulator implements Apache configuration model (with httpd.conf and .htaccess configuration files) and over 30 most demanded Apache modules, enabling users to transfer their websites from Apache to IIS without modifications, configure Perl, PHP and other Unix-oriented web applications for IIS with the same ease as if they were to run in their native Apache environment. Apache-compatible URL rewriting, flexible user permissions control, forward and reverse proxy functionality, compression and cache functions, comprehensive protection from malicious activities – these are the benefits available to users running IIS with Ape.

“This looks like a very cool module for those who want to ‘emulate’ Apache’s runtime environment, including more than a dozen modules, as well as direct .htaccess support, inside IIS! It takes full advantage of the integrated pipeline of IIS7, by providing a managed code module that extends IIS7’s core processing pipeline and provides semantic emulation of some very popular Apache features!” says Bill Staples, General Manager of the Web Platform and Tools engineering team at Microsoft.

Ape works transparently to the server and client and can be installed even on a shared hosting account without the administrative access. System Requirements: Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7 with IIS installed.

About Helicon Tech Corporation Being on the market since February 2002, Helicon Tech is devoted to developing, licensing and supporting solutions for search engine optimization (LinkFreeze), bandwidth leeching protection (HotlinkBlocker), HTTP compression and cache (Helicon Jet), and ISAPI_Rewrite – Apache mod_rewrite and mod_proxy emulator for IIS users. Ape is now the company’s flagship product which includes the functionality of all mentioned above.

(The Hosting News) – Dell and Perot Systems have entered a definitive agreement for Dell to acquire Perot Systems in a transaction valued at approximately $3.9 billion. Terms of the agreement were approved yesterday by the boards of directors of both companies.

The acquisition will result in a compelling combination of two iconic information-technology brands. The expanded Dell will be even better positioned for immediate and long-term growth and efficiency driven by:

Providing a broader range of IT services and solutions and optimizing how they’re delivered;
Extending the reach of Perot Systems’ capabilities, including in the most dynamic customer segments, around the world; and,
Supplying leading Dell computer systems to even more Perot Systems customers.

Complementary Capabilities
Dell and Perot Systems share several key characteristics and our products, services and structures are overwhelmingly complementary. They have similarly strong, relationship-based business cultures. People in both organizations are recognized for helping customers thrive by using IT for greater effectiveness and productivity. The combination also provides some compelling opportunities for improved efficiency, which will benefit our customers even further.

Dell’s global commercial customer base spans large corporations, government agencies, health-care providers, educational institutions, and small and medium enterprises (SME). The company’s large existing services business includes breakthroughs in the concept and delivery of modular services, as well as expertise in infrastructure consulting and software-as-a-service. Dell is a leader in computer systems, including standards-based network servers, and in the fast-growing segment of data-storage hardware.

Perot Systems provides world-class services, including in applications, technology, infrastructure, business processes and consulting. The company is a leading provider to clients in health-care, government and other commercial segments, from SMEs to the largest global institutions. Perot Systems has a large and growing base of customers and service-delivery capabilities in North America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Asia.

Over the past four quarters Dell and Perot Systems had a combined $16 billion in enterprise-hardware and IT-services revenue, with about $8 billion from enhanced services and support.

Tender Offer, Closing and Initial Integration

Under the terms of the agreement, Dell will commence a tender offer to acquire all of the outstanding Class A common stock of Perot Systems for $30 per share in cash. The transaction is not subject to a financing condition. The transaction, which is subject to customary government approvals and the satisfaction of other customary conditions, is expected to close in Dell’s November-January fiscal quarter.

Once the acquisition is complete, Perot Systems will become Dell’s services unit and be led from Plano by Peter Altabef, the current Perot Systems chief executive officer. At the same time, Dell directors are expected to consider Ross Perot Jr., Perot Systems’ chairman of the board, for appointment to the Dell board. Based on current estimates, the transaction is expected to be accretive to Dell’s GAAP earnings in its fiscal 2012.

To hear a related analysts call with Dell and Perot Systems executives (“live” at 8:30 A.M. EDT today, then later via replay), go to www.dell.com/investor.

Quotes:
Michael Dell, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Dell: “ We consider Perot Systems to be a premium asset with great people that enhances our opportunities for immediate and long-term growth. This significantly expands Dell’s enterprise-solutions capabilities and makes Perot Systems’ strengths available to even more customers around the world. There will be efficiencies from combining the companies, but the acquisition makes such great sense because of the obvious ways our businesses complement each other.”

Ross Perot Jr., Chairman of the Board, Perot Systems: “This transaction represents a great opportunity for our company and our associates. Today’s announcement is the next step in formalizing a relationship that has flourished for some time. When my father founded Perot Systems he envisioned a global information-technology leader. The new, larger Dell builds on that promise and its own successes by taking Perot Systems’ expertise to more customers than ever.”

(The Hosting News) – Parallels has announced the availability of the fastest, most seamless Windows-on-Mac solution ever: Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac. This is the latest version of the number 1 Mac system utility, currently enabling more than 2 million users to run Windows, Linux and other operating systems side-by-side with Mac OS X. According to performance research conducted by Crimson Consulting Group, Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac performs 22% faster than the nearest Windows-on-Mac competitor in standard productivity testing of Windows 7 64-bit on a MacBook Pro. In addition, version 5 is up to 300% faster for virtual machine operations than the previous version. For 3D and graphics performance, tested under the industry standard 3Dmark 2006 Professional test suite the new version performs up to 7 times better. Users can test this for themselves with a free trial from www.parallels.com/desktop.

“As the OS battles rage between Microsoft, Apple and Linux, we provide a completely customizable solution that enables people to use the applications they need with the fastest performance available, regardless of the operating system,” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. “Parallels continues to build on its proven track record of innovation, responding to our customers by providing the fastest, smartest and most powerful Windows-on-Mac experience available.”

There are more than 70 new features in Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac, many of which give users the flexibility to work in the way they want. Users can choose how much or little Windows they want to see, from running Windows in Full Screen mode where Windows completely covers the Mac user interface to the new Crystal view mode which makes Windows completely disappear. Users can even get a Mac-like experience in their Windows applications, using the intuitive Apple Trackpad Gestures technology to pinch, swipe, and rotate as they do in Mac applications.

“Ideally PC emulation should be transparent and invisible, and Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac goes a very long way towards this,” said beta tester and executive in the mining industry Nic Clift. “The thing that strikes me most about Parallels Desktop for Mac is that it is trouble-free, consistent with what I expect of Mac software, and has proved to be a remarkably convenient and easy way for me to maintain as much access to the world of Windows as I want. Parallels works as neatly with Boot Camp as it does when running seamlessly in the background, along with my everyday Mac software. If anything, version 5 has made Windows emulation even more transparent and trouble-free and unless one wants to get involved with the details of set-up it is easy to forget that it is even running.”

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac introduces more than 70 new features and enhancements, offering a computing experience that is:

Faster…

- Virtual machine size automatically optimized for best performance with Parallels Compressor

- Improved performance for Linux guest OS from KVM paravirtualization

“The excellent 3D graphics performance of Parallels Desktop for Mac makes it Autodesk’s preferred Mac virtualization software for customers who choose to run AutoCAD or our other design and engineering software on the Mac,” said Andrew Mackles, Director of AutoCAD Product Management at Autodesk. “We are excited about the further graphics enhancements in Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac and the potential to improve the customer experiences.”

Smarter…

- A more Mac-like experience in their Windows applications through Apple Trackpad Gestures technology (pinch, swipe, rotate and more), horizontal scrolling and the application of Full Screen active corners and curl page effect

- Copy & Paste fidelity for formatted text and complete layouts including images, even between Windows and Linux guest OSs

- Freedom and flexibility to run Windows and Mac applications across multiple monitors

More Powerful…
