The Dead Island trailer music is an integral of the video game trailer that has every drooling. Call it what you may – this is the best trailer any of us have laid eyes on in the recent past.

When Techland finally decided to release the now-viral trailer to their almost-obscure open-world zombie gore fest they really couldn’t have expected it to defeat the very purpose every media release is always preceded by a trailer – to build positive hype and interest.

For those who know enough about video games would know that there are three very important factors that determine the fate of a game before its release:

The build quality if of course the most important factor to consider here.
With the worry of drowning in the frenzy of moving images and music, promotion can make even a bad game a moderate success. Unlike the twisted movie audience, gamers aren’t very forgiving.
The place of a title within the game industry also plays a major role in determining its success. Uncharted 3 is a guaranteed critical and commercial success, whereas the third chapter in the very deep Deus Ex franchise might very well go sideways and bury our ideas of kissing Denton a passionate goodbye.

Just in case you’re interested to know more about the company that patched up this little masterpiece, the name of outfit is Axis Animation.

Axis is an independent group hired by developers and publishers to create jaw-dropping and seriously insane trailers and in-game content.

They have worked on a handful of games including Spiderman: Shattered Dimension, Microsoft Flight and Sigularity just to name a few.

Remember, Axis is in no way connected to the good folks over at Techland who we all didn’t care much about till they dumped the idea of a Dead Rising clone through a seriously touching trailer. Kudos!

At the time of writing the IGN-uploaded trailer already had over 3.5 million views. Yeah, that’s what you get by making every father with a daughter and broadband access cry his heart out.

Batman 3 Movie Update – Tom Hardy Role

Every cinema enthusiast is awaiting the still-distant release of the Batman 3 movie. With Christopher Nolan already scouting for locations, and no news on the role Tom Hardy will be playing, Batman fans have much to debate, debase, and deliberate over.

A Batman fan site had some information to share with us about The Dark Knight Rises. While they don’t claim to know who Hardy will be playing in the final chapter in Nolan’s Batman trilogy, they do believe that he will not be essaying the role of the villainous Professor Hugo Strange, as many have speculated.

Coincidence, or not, the good professor is also the featured baddie in the video game sequel, Batman: Arkham City. Check out the latest trailer for the 2011 release video game.

Now that the cat is out of the closet, many caped crusader fanatics now believe that the buzz surrounding Strange, arises from his sudden exposure to the mainstream, courtesy of the video game follow-up, and a few characteristically cryptic references by the Nolan himself.

The rumor mill recently claimed that the film will be based on the “Prey” storyline, that appears in the the comic book Legends of The Dark Knight issues #11-15.

“Prey” was written by Doug Moench, and features Batman locking horns with Hugo Strange, who is a psychiatrist tasted by the major to a task force dedicated to hunting and taking down caped crusader.

The task force is headed by a very reluctant Jim Gordan. Catwoman also features in this story, which given where the last movie left off, would be a perfect fit for the final chapter of the Inception-director’s superhero trilogy.

Also included in this story is a detective-turned-vigilante by the name of Max Cort, who gets hypnotized by Hugo Strange to do some nasty deeds.

Should Christopher choose the “Prey” storyline, it’s safe to bet that the Tom Hardy role we have all been obsessing over is in fact that of crazed-detective Max Cort.

Of course, after seeing movies like Memento, we can’t be really confident about our own speculation about the Batman 3 movie. What about you? Do you think our logic is sound, or can Hardy, much to our horror, be playing Catwoman?!

Deadpool Movie Update – Where Art Thou Ryan Reynolds

With the release of the first official, and not too impressive Green Lanter trailer, most comic book fans can’t help but wish that Ryan Reynolds had taken the plunge with Deadpool.

As with most superhero movies that hit screen these days, talk of greenlighting the second Green Lantern movie had already begun even while post production hadn’t even started yet. The reason for use of past tense is because most of use have now seen the trailer, and we couldn’t be more bummed about it.

MTV recently got together with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, who was one of the only source of updates while most of us were salivating aimlessly over the very mediocre X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Of course now that we mentioned the movie that introduced the character to mainstream glory, a moment of sighing is long overdue given the blink-and-miss treatment of our beloved character, whose actor is apparently the “Sexiest Man in the World”.

We still wish Reynolds had signed on to portray Wade Wilson in a dedicated Deadpool movie. But it all hope dead? Well, let’s take a look at what Liefeld had to say about the current status of the Deadpool movie we all want to see happen…

“With the “Deadpool” film, it really boils down to to this: all the ingredients are there. What’s the wait? I watch everything just like you do.

You cover this business, and so do I as an interested party and a fan and somebody who has other films going.

You look at development slates and what’s going forward. You know how many people would kill to have Ryan Reynolds star in their movie?”

From the creator’s comments, it’s obvious that FOX is a tad bit nervous about greenlighting a project with a protagonist that isn’t “mainstream” enough.

“I go to the conventions and travel the country every year and I’m deluged with people dressed as Deadpool — people who are dying for this.

These people have created such a phenomenon that Marvel has five or six “Deadpool” books a month. I want to say, “Hey Fox, last I counted, that’s more than Spiderman!”

It’s not like I don’t live in southern California and have management and agents in this town. It’s not like I don’t hear things around town. If it’s an issue of Fox being cheap, what’s that about?

Open up the pocketbooks. Between a smaller budget and a bigger budget, they might want to go bigger budget — history will tell you that. They should spend what they need to get a director and lock down the star.

They have Ryan Reynolds and Reese and Wernick, who if you haven’t noticed, are tearing up the town. There’s a reason everybody wants them. Fox has the script that everybody thinks is their best piece of work.”

Ok Rob, we get it, you’re seriously pissed brother! *pat pat*

The artist’s frustration is apparent, especially since he had first attached himself to Deadpool, but then Warner Bros. gave picking, and scooped him up for the Green Lantern movie, which was shuttled to completion.

Twentieth Century Fox on the other hand doesn’t want to stray from the “X-Factor”, and are preoccupied with attempting a relaunch of every X, including X-Men: First Class, and The Wolverine.

“I know the producers are awesome — the Donner people are great people. They have assembled a perfect storm, so let’s go!

Ryan Reynolds is amazingly bankable. Women love him, men love him. … He has the Will Smith / Tom Cruise bankability, and you don’t even need to ask him to star in the movie — he’s already committed! He’s a producer!”

Comic book fans can rejoice for one thing – Reynolds, Liefeld, and the producers - all want this movie to happen. Of course, judging my its current state of affairs, we wouldn’t recommend holding your breath, unless you’re just doing it for the heck of it!

Given the fact that the script has been reviewed to be all kinds of unbelievable awesome, it’s time for us to move on from a cute lonely Wolverine, and move on to some old-school slashing. Dark Knight meets Kill Bill – yeah, that’s what the good folks over at Cinema Blend had to say.

Reynolds, as most of you would remember, had voiced his idea of the best director for the Deadpool movie – *wait for it…* Quentin Tarantino. Of course when you can’t get Tarantino, you look around for the next best fellow to slash up some serious meat, and viola, say hello to Robert Rodriguez, who for the record is awesome.

“So while the Deadpool movie continues to come together, I’ve compiled 5 candidates that would be perfect to bring the outstanding script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to screen.

Whoever the director is needs to have a pedigree for action as there are several gritty set pieces throughout the course of the film. A penchant for humor is also necessary.

Given that guys like Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez prefer to shoot films that they have a significant ownership stake in, guys like them are off the list.”

Oprah Winfrey Lesbian Rumor – Oprah On Gayle King

The Oprah Winfrey lesbian rumors have been around for years now. The talk show host, and businesswoman, even went ahead and acknowledged them recently with a firm “I’m not a lesbian”.

In an interview with Barbara Walter, the 56-year-old talk show queen flatly denies any homosexual tendencies. Here’s what she said in the upcoming ABC interview:

“I’m not even kind of a lesbian. And the reason why [the rumor] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two … why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

Most of the rumors surrounding Oprah’s supposed lesbian orientation have much to do with the public relationship she shares with friend Gayle King. Winfrey took note of her closeness with King, and made the below mentioned remarks:

“She is … the mother I never had. She is … the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person. I don’t know a better person.”

“It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about … how much … I probably have never told her that. Tissue, please. I now need tissue. I’ve never told her that.”

The interview is special because is marks the scheduled May-end of her syndicated show, and the beginning of her own cable network, aptly named OWN – The Oprah Winfrey Network.

On the subject of starting her own network, the icon admits that the project of kickstarting her own network is her most daunting project yet.

According to her, she’s “very scared” about the thought of ending her long-running show to start from scratch all over again.

“I would wake up in the middle of the night literally like clutching my chest, like, ‘What have I done? What have I done?’ “

Google eBooks – Welcome The Cloud Google Bookstore

The online bookstore we have all been waiting for is finally here – welcome the cloud-based Google eBooks bookstore! So what is the latest cloud bookstore from Google all about.

The Internet giant released Books to much fanfare, mostly since it launched the service with all guns blazing, duly noted with the company releasing apps for all popular devices on day one itself.

With the launch of the eBooks service, Google has opened up a new market for book publishers, who have seen demand deteriorate steadily over the years. Avenues like that provided by Amazon’s ebook store, are more than welcome by the desperate publishers.

The capital G’s move into the book service has been rumored for over a year and a half now. It is especially relevant given the dissatisfaction expressed by publishers over Amazon’s autocratic ways.

While the age of the hardcover continues to fade, eBooks is without a doubt the first cloud based book reading solution to be deployed on a grand scale. Over 3 million titles from around 4000 publishers are already available on the store at this very moment.

For the time being, the service is only available for users in the United States. Even the offline edition is available only to US users, who have already loaded their book(s) of choice. Those travelling outside the US would need to pre-load the titles on their device.

The Android application is available for download right here. Those who use continue to love the Apple, you can download the iOS app here.

Titles from this store can be read on all popular eBook readers which have ePub format compatibility. Google’s web browser edition provides a neat interface, which aims to replicate the format of a real book.

The pages flip easily and quickly, with or without the full screen mode switched on. With the release of the Google eBooks bookstore, the company continues its surge into diversifying itself into new online and offline sectors.

PS3 Jailbreak Firmware – The Firmware To Quash Backups

In a bid to terminate any chances of the now-famous PS3 jailbreak firmware from catching on, Sony, in an aggresive move, have released a firmware version 3.55 which is described by the console manufacturer as “a minor update that adds a security patch”.

The jailbreak in question surfaced earlier this year in August, and is the only successful jailbreak available for PS3 enthusiasts.

Sony began its onslaught against the modding community in September this year, when it filed a lawsuit against an online retailer, who was selling the PSJailbreak mod.

Post filing the lawsuit, Sony was quick a release a security patch, which in turn triggered the creators of the original jailbreak to hit back with a downgrade in October.

The downgrade allowed users to roll back the changes made by the patch, thereby enabling users to once again continue their free-for-all ways.

With version 3.35, Sony is displaying it’s intention to continue the this cat-and-mouse game over the much-desired PS3 Jailbreak firmware.

Michael Douglas Cancer – The Family Behind The Man

The latest news in our continuing coverage of the Michael Douglas cancer subject has the veteran actor come out and commend his star wife and two children for how well they have managed to adjust and cope with the news of his throat cancer.

Douglas has said that his young children have been very supportive of his fight against the dreaded disease. The 66-year-old actor just recently successfully completed his radiotherapy and chemotherapy some eight weeks ago.

He expressed his amazement at how well both his kids, Dylan (10) and Carys (7), and his stunning wife Catherine Zeta-Jones coped with his illness.

The actor had the following to say to People magazine:

“Dylan and Carys have been so amazing and supportive throughout all of this.

A close friend of Catherine was quoted saying:

“Catherine is a strong woman and very practical. There’s no two ways about it – that’s the Welsh in her. Neither one of them are people who would wallow; they just deal with what has to be done.”

Douglas recently voiced his take on how he believes his father’s (Kirt) devotion to his work resulted in the strained relationship that they shared.

Being quite candid, the actor also admitted that there’s a good chance that he made the same mistake with his 31-year-old son Cameron, who he had with ex-wife Diandra, and who is currently jailed on drug charges.

Here’s what the star had to say on the subject of Cameron’s arrest:

“In those key years, when Kirk was doing five movies a year, if we saw him it was only out of his guilt. I’m sure it’s not easy, either, being a third generation. Kirk was all-consumed, was overworked. Probably like myself at a certain time in my life.”

Here’s a subject every teenage girl has been obsessing over for quite some time – who is the new Justin Bieber girlfriend? While recently mentor Usher may have advised Bieber to stay away from dating his fans, there’s no stopping Justin from publicly kissing her.

Everybody knows about Justin’s previous fling with Caitlin Beadles. Since their breaking up, the prospect of the young star being available has been more than most of fans can handle.

The numerous rumors and speculation are ample proof of how much interest the singer’s love life can generate. While the star himself isn’t very open on the subject, one does get to read and hear about the new female friends that he makes quite often.

The latest in the long list of girls to carry the “Bieber Girlfriend” tag is Jasmine Villegas. Wondering just how do we know about the relationship?

Jasmine was born on December 7, 1993, and is of Filipino and Mexican descent. Apart from appearances in numerous television shows, she is known to be a close friend of Paige Hurd. She is also the opening act for the “My World” tour.

She’s currently signed on with Sony Music, and has also been part of a rather ridiculous American all-girl group School Gyrls, which should probably be awarded something for the many kinds of horrible contained in the name alone.

Celebrities With Cancer

There are a number of famous celebrities with cancer in the entertainment industry. Some of them have managed to fight off the deadly disease through early detection, while others have had to ensure pain and chemotherapy to emerge on the other side.

It goes without saying that celebrities too have succumbed to cancer, much like us normal moderately well-liked and loved folk.

Here are some of the popular faces who have been afflicted with this disease in one form or another:

Michael C. Hall

First on this list of celebrities is our friendly neighborhood serial-killer from the popular Showtime show Dexter, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2010.

Not only did he manage to draw new blood on the show’s 5th season, he did so cancer-free. The man lost his hair, went in for chemotherapy, but continues to be as cuddly a monster we have ever loved.

Christina Applegate

It was on August 3, 2008, when People magazine outed the news, that we discovered the early form of breast cancer infesting its way through our beloved Samantha.

That being said, Applegate showed resilience and fought off the cancer. She did however loose her breasts due to a necessary double mastectomy.

You wouldn’t find her complaining much though; instead one can’t help but swell up with pride watching a very-pregnant Christina bring a much-needed natural glow to the red carpet.

Patrick Swayze

Swayze had a long and tough fight against this disease, which began in late January 2008 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer.

The veteran actor underwent chemotherapy and opted for treatment with an experimental drug called Vatalanib. While the celebrity fought bravely, the disease could only eventually end in one outcome.

Patrick died on September 14, 2009 at the age of 57, with his family and loved ones by his bedside. Patrick’s death is among the most saddening, yet human, fights against this condition on this collection of celebrities with cancer.

Sheryl Crow

The singer battled breast cancer in 2006, just after her separation from championship-winning cyclist Lance Armstrong.

Not only did Sheryl manage to beat the life-threatening condition, she proved to be a major source of inspiration for women worldwide – a role that she plays with empathy.

The singer recently opened the Sheryl Crow Imaging Center, which is a state-of-the-art facility for early detection in Los Angeles.

Lance Edward Armstrong

Armstrong, while a celebrated cyclist, is also most the bravest faces given to this disease worldwide. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 25.

During his very first visit to Austin, Texas, he was coughing up blood due to a large, painful testicular tumor. An immediate surgery and chemotherapy quickly followed, post which, an orchiectomy was performed to remove his diseased testicle.

While the cancerous cells may have eventually made its way to his brain and lungs, it really didn’t have a chance against the determination of the then 25-year-old athlete.

He beat the tumor, but also went on to win the Tour de France an amazing seven time consecutively. He also founded the LiveStrong Foundation.

Martina Navratilova

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova recently revealed to People magazine that she broke out crying when she found out about her breast diagnosis in February, 2010.

Martina, who is 54 years old, had the following to say about being told about her diagnosis:

“It knocked me on my ass, really. I feel so in control of my life and my body, and then this comes and it’s completely out of my hands.”

Aside from being a cancer survivor, Navratilova is also openly gay, and is seen as a gay-rights icon.

Sharon Osbourne

Next on our list of celebrities with cancer is the wife and pillar to one of the biggest hard rock icons ever – Mrs Osbourne.

It was in July 2002 when everybody found out that Sharon was suffering from colon cancer. The disease eventually spread to her lymph nodes, and proved to be more serious than doctors believed earlier.

The wife of Ozzy Osbourne managed to ward off and survive despite the 33% survival prognosis determined by her doctors.

Sharon’s situation and subsequent fight took a massive toll on her family, with Ozzy admitting that he “fell apart”, and an alleged suicide attempt by son Jack.

Michael Douglas

The Oscar-winning actor revealed that he had stage IV throat cancer in August 2010 on the Late Show with David Letterman.

He did so with a brave face, especially laudable given his recent completion of the first eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.

The 65 year-old star, who confidently told People magazine “I’ll beat it”, has been recently spotted having a good time with his wife and kids.

The actor continues to fight off the life-threatening disease, and is said to be making steady recovery, and is an inspirational icon for all normal folk, and celebrities with cancer.

Andy Whitfield

Whitfield is the lead star on the Starz Original series “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”. He was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Doctors made the discovery during a routine checkup a little before the 38-year-old British actor was preparing to begin shooting for the second season of the action-adventure series heavily inspired from the movie 300.

Last we heard, he is undergoing treatment successfully, given the “very treatable” nature of his particular condition.

Dennis Hopper

The Easy Rider star was diagnosed with prostate cancer, for which he underwent treatment through a special program at the University of Southern California.

While those near and dead to Dennis were hoping for the best, the actor died due to it on 29 May, 2010 at the age of 74. All veteran celebrities turned out in large numbers to honor the veteran actor’s work, life and accomplishments.

Kim Kardashian Dead

So why exactly are a whole lot of us scampering in search of Kim Kardashian dead ads? First things first, this isn’t some voyeuristic tale of fetishes, rather has everything to with AIDS awareness.

Big celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga all came out in full force to support the campaign ”Social Media for Charity”.

Now given the inclusion of the term “social media” included, it’s obvious for us to wonder what we should be looking for on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Well, the answer is, much to our horror, nothing!

On Wednesday, December 1st, these celebrities will begin an exercise many of us would deem inhumane, and downright insufferable – they will be taking *drumroll* the Digital Sacrifice Challenge until they achieve their target of of $1 million for Alicia’s charity foundation Keep A Child Alive.

This unique campaign will see this celebrities off any and all forms of online social networking to raise money and awareness for Keys’ charity and Aids respectively.

The woman calling the shots, Alicia Keys herself, observed that…

“…this is such a direct and instantly emotional way and a little sarcastic, you know, of a way to get people to pay attention,”

Other stars also participating in the campaign include Usher, Ryan Seacrest, Serena Williams and Jennifer Hudson, who have all filmed their Last tweet and testaments to encourage people to cough up some of their holiday shopping budget for those in need.
