Star Trek Premieres in Hollywood; Goes Wide This Weekend (photos!)

Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk in the new "Star Trek Into Darkness," led cast members for the film's premiere in Hollywood premiere at the Dolby theater earlier this week. The film goes nationwide this weekend and advance buzz is strongly positive. Pine was joined by Zachary Quinto who plays Spock, and the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy, who looked fit and posed with his wife, Susan. Nimoy reprises his role as Spock. Karl Urban, who plays Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, Zoe Saldana, who plays Uhura and actor John Cho, who plays Sulu, also walked a white carpet along with crew and even a few stars from "Star Trek’s" past.

Star Trek Star-Studded Hollywood Premiere

“Star Trek Into Darkness" co-writer and producer Alex Kurtzman was joined by Alice Eve, who plays Dr. Carol Marcus, Peter Weller, who plays Admiral Marcus and Bruce Greenwood, who plays Adm. Christopher Pike. Star Trek veterans from previous film and television adaptations included Jennifer Morrison, who played Kirk’s mother in the 2009 “Star Trek” movie walked the red carpet along with LeVar Burton, who played Geordi La Forge in the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” television series and movies. Fetching actress Kate Beckinsale, who has her own hit sci-fi movie series, and Lea Thompson were also spotted on the red carpet. In the latest film Kirk and the starship Enterprise go on a galaxy jumping manhunt for the leader of a terrorist attack on StarFleet. Kirk's skill as a captain are tested as the pursuit leads time into a world at war. “I think a lot of maturing happens in this film for Kirk, for a man who thinks he knows everything and leads with his gut and leads with his heart, and is all kind of passion and heart,” Pine said during a recent interview. “He’s a man that has to learn to censor himself." English musician Sting and wife Trudie Styler were the guests of honor at The We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) gala at Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom in New York City. Sting performed along with Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Sam Moore and Russell Peters. Sting, real name Gordon Sumner, and Styler received the organization's Humanitarian Award for their efforts to "improve the human condition throughout the world."

"There is another equally essential basic human need if we are to survive, and that is love. Mahatma Gandhi said, ‘Where there is love, there is life.’ Well perhaps tonight we can change that to say ‘Where there is love, there is family.’” Previous recipients include musical legends Jackson Browne, Peter Gabriel, Sir Elton John and television and radio host Larry King. Rogers founded the the not-for-profit organization, which is headed by President Nancy Hunt, Africa Rising Foundation Co-Founder & Co-Chairman Ndaba Mandela, filmmaker Slater Jewell-Kemker and U.S. Fund for UNICEF President & CEO Caryl Stern. Spotted on the red carpet were "The Face" winner Devyn Abdullah, "Guiding Light" actor Grant Aleksander, Producer Jean Doumanian, Real New York Housewife Aviva Drescher, philanthropist Eva Haller and blues musician Keb' Mo. Rodgers welcomed the guest and explaind WAFF's mission to help youths through such programs as Three Dot Dash. The group's signature program identifies, supports and mentors Global Teen Leaders. He also introduced Slater Jewell-Kemker was the group's 2012 Global Teen Leader . Slater Jewell-Kemker is a young filmmaker with a passion for the environment. Her forthcoming film, “An Inconvenient Youth,” is a documentary featuring kids living on the front lines of climate change who are creating a green and sustainable future. After sharing the trailer for her documentary with the audience, Jewell-Kemker spoke about how activists like Sting and Trudie are involved. Mandela spoke about Sting's and Trudie’s Rainforest Fund, an organization devoted to protecting rain forests and their indigenous peoples. To date they have raised more than $30 million for the cause and have expanded to a network of interconnected organizations in more than 20 countries. Mandela also recounted an exciting moment from his youth, when Sting made a personal stop on his tour to hold a concert in honor of his grandfather, Nelson Mandela. Sting’s support for human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Live Aid mirrors his art in its universal outreach. “We each have the capacity to work together, and in doing so, to make a more connected world,” Mandela said. Stern spoke about Styler’s accomplishments in the fight for human rights. She has raised funds and awareness for the UNICEF End Child Exploitation and United Against AIDS campaigns and visited tsunami-devastated Sri Lanka. Stern was then joined on stage by Rodgers, Hunt, Jewell-Kemker and Mandela, who together presented Sting and Trudie with the Humanitarian Award. Legendary Soul Man™ Sam Moore kicked off the concert portion of the evening with his timeless hits, “Soul Man” and “Something is Wrong with My Baby.” Sting sang “Englishman in New York,” “Brand New Day” and an acoustic version of “Fields of Gold,” before inviting Moore back on stage for “Every Breath You Take.” Sting and Moore closed their performance with their own rendition of Bill Withers’ classic, “Just the Two of Us,” and were joined on stage by their wives, Trudie Styler and Joyce Moore. Nile Rodgers & CHIC brought the crowd once again to their feet, with hit songs “Le Freak” and “Good Times,” before inviting all of the evening’s performers and speakers to the stage to close the evening with a show-stopping performance of “We Are Family.” The evening’s sponsors included Gibson Foundation and We-Care.com. Ramona Pinot Grigio provided the wine.

Kicking off Oscar week in Hollywood, Brooklyn Decker, Ali Larder and Olivia Munn where among celebrities who graced the annual Vanity Fair and Juicy Couture Vanities Calendar celebration at the Chateau Marmont. Decker, 25, has put her modeling career on hiatus to pursue acting full-time and no doubt was out to see and be seen at the party. The wife of tennis great Andy Roddick, wore a Preen top and skirt, with a Pucci clutch, Prabal Gurung for Casadei shoes and Ebel watch.

Juicy Couture, Vanity Fair Calendar Party

Jaime King, 33, who stars in "Hart of Dixie" was spotted with Ellie Kemper, who stars in "The Office." They ventured inside and met up with Kemper's co-star B.J. Novak. Fashion conscious King, a former model, was a regular at New York Fashion Week and jetted back for the event. She wore a McQueen Pre AW13 kaleidoscope dress, with a short skirt and bright print pattern. Munn wore a Juicy Couture ensemble. “It’s like the week before Christmas," Munn told USA Today about Oscar week. "Everyone’s happy and ready to hang out and party. At the same time it’s not that really intense pressure of Oscar weekend.” She also talked about the innumerable fittings for each event she'll be attending this week, and revealed she still hasn't picked out her Oscars dress. Also spotted in the crowd were Carly Craig, Minka Kelly, "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria and Max Minghella. Michelle Williams Panties Upstages ‘Oz Great & Powerful’ Premiere

Mila Kunis was upstaged by Michelle Williams' panties at the premiere of "Oz The Great and Powerful" last night (Feb. 13) at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. In fact, her panties upstaged just about everyone, including Michelle. The actress's daring dress, which included a split seam from floor-to-waist, was the talk of the tabloids. The cream-colored shirt-style Prada gown covered up the star with its high neckline and ankle-length hemline. But the right side was open to her waist, flashing a slice of her black panties.

Oz The Great and Powerful Premiere

Williams plays the Good Witch Glinda in the production, which is a prequel to L. Frank Baum's classic "The Wizard Of Oz." It focuses on how a Kansas con man played by James Franco is whisked over the rainbow and becomes the Emerald City's Wizard. Franco made the biggest entrance. He arrived from above in a hot air balloon. It hovered over a yellow brick road, which substituted as a red carpet. Kunis, 29, wore a cream lace Dolce & Gabbana prom dress and Christian Louboutin heels. In the movie, she plays Theodora, the wicked witch of the West. Rachel Weisz, who plays Evanora the Wicked Witch of the East, also walked down the yellow brick road. She was was almost upstaged by Michelle's panties, as well. But she held her own in a stunning orange Victoria Beckham gown with spaghetti straps and low-cut sides. It was a solid choice bold color complimented her dark eyes and hair and fair skin. “I didn’t want to wear green because I wanted to look different from my character in the film," she explained. "I just chose a dress I thought was pretty." The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Zach Braff, who plays the Wizard's trusted monkey assistant, said he and Franco tried to take some lessons from the film veteran. "Both James and I are filmmakers ourselves, and Sam was like the best mentor in the world, teaching us how a movie of this scale is made," Braff said. "In my new film that I'm directing, I have some much smaller-scale little effects people, but I wouldn't have put those in if I hadn't had six months of grad school with Sam Raimi," Braff said. Kunis's boyfriend Ashton Kutcher laid low at the premiere, but was spotted at the after-party hunkered down with the actress. Williams was also without boyfriend Jason Segal. She spent most of the evening with Weisz, who also attended without husband Daniel Craig. "Oz: The Great and Powerful" is set to hit theaters on March 8.

Winter turns 15 on Monday, celebrated on the set of "Modern Family." The cast and crew surprised her with a cake after filming wrapped for the week. "LOVE everyone I work with so much. Best people ever! I was about to cry. :) happy birthday to me!! (It's on Monday!)" she wrote on Instagram. Winter has had some rough sailing recently. She's battled her mother over abuse claims. A judge sided with her and allowed her to live with her sister. Among the celebrities also attending the event where Cat Deeley, Christa Allen, best known for her role as Charlotte Grayson on the ABC drama "Revenge," Ellie Kemper, who played Erin Hannon in NBC's "The Office" and Willa Holland, who appeared as Kaitlin Cooper on "The O.C." Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams and Carmen Electra were among the celebrities who turned out for another night of pre-Golden Globes partying at the W magazine and Dom Perignon champagne fete at the famed Chateau Marmont. It was the second big party this week ahead of the Golden Globe Awards ceremony on Sunday (Jan. 13). Both Lawrence and Adams have been nominated for awards.

Lawrence is up for best actress in a comedy or musical for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook" and Adams is up for best supporting actress for her role in "The Master." Bold primary colors seem to be in vogue for Spring 2013. Supermodel Miranda Kerr was spotted in Dolce & Gabbana. Hayden Panettiere, nominated for a television globe for her role in the hit drama "Nashville," illustrated another Spring 2013 trend, bright neon colors. She wore a green jacket over a bright purple dress. Electra wore a stunning red dress that complemented her dark features, while Lana Del Rey surprised in an understated Izmaylova ensemble. Also spotted in the crow was nominee Marion Cotillard and Olga Kurylenko. Marion is up for a best actress in a drama award for her role in "Rust and Bone." Kate Bosworth led a procession of Hollywood celebrities who attended Audi’s 2013 Golden Globes Kick Off Party Sunday night in Los Angeles. Connie Britton, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber also highlighted the evening honoring the award nominees. Bosworth, 30, arrived with fiance Michael Polish, who directed Kate in the movie "Big Sur." The film is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's 1962 autobiography. Kate wore all black in an Emilio Pucci Spring 2013 dress, It sheer overlays over sexy cutouts. She accessorized with a python clutch and black pumps with a pin heel. Also spotted at the event, at Cecconi’s Restaurant, were Jaime Chung, Julia Bowen, Katie Cassidy and Dawn Olivieri. The 70th Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Jan. 13. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host the event, hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Reese Witherspoon was the guest of honor at the 2012 Children’s Defense Fund Beat the Odds Awards in Beverly Hills. She was joined by Michelle Monaghan, Miranda Cosgrove and other celebrities for the dinner and ceremonies. The event at the Beverly Hills Hotel honored five incredible Los Angeles-area high school students Each had a story to tell of strength and triumph that were genuinely inspiring. The students honored were Yahydia C. Iñiguez, Richard V. Kent, Roneisha C. Pugh, Jade E. Woods and Jalen W. Woods.

Children's Defense Fund, Beat the Odds

Co-chairing the event this year were Katie McGrath and J.J. Abrams, Jurnee Smollett and Josiah Bell, Carol and Frank Biondi, Ruth-Ann Huvane and Kevin Huvane, Stacey and Charles King, Liza and Conan O’Brien, Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth and Laura and Casey Wasserman. Other celebrities attending included "New Girl‘s" Hannah Simone,"Teen Wolf" stars Colton Haynes and Holland Roden and Alex Bidel. Reese wore an Elie Saab dress and Christian Louboutin heels to the event. The Children’s Defense Fund – New York will hold its annual Beat the Odds® event on Tuesday, (Dec 11) at the New York Athletic Club at 180 Central Park South in New York City. CDF’s New York Office will also honor five area high school seniors who have overcome tremendous adversity, demonstrated academic excellence and have given back to their communities.

Ashley Greene, Cast Turn Out for Breaking Dawn, Pt 2, NY Premiere (photos!)

"Twilight" hottie Ashley Greene joined other cast members for the New York City premiere of "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" at the Landmark Sunshine Theater. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, however, were busy promoting the film in Europe. That left Greene, who places Alice Cullen in the movie, as one of the ranking stars to headline the event. She was joined by newcomer Mackenzie Foy, who plays Edwards' and Bella's child Renesmee, and coven vampires Maggie Grace, Lisa Howard, and Casey LaBow.

Cast stalwarts Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli and Elizabeth Reaser also made the screening. Greene walked the red carpet in a strapless, Donna Karan Atelier gown. Earlier in the day, she also hit NBC to film a "Today Show" segment. She explained how she maintained her sexy body. "My body holds muscle really easily, and I tend to bulk up [if I'm always lifting] weights. I did side planks for my obliques, which are one of my trouble areas. And traditional planks tone your back so you don’t have that little bit of fat hanging over your bra. Ugh!" "A lot of people like to be super tiny, but I don’t want a child’s body; I want a woman’s body that is extremely fit. It’s so much sexier.” The movie opens in theaters across North America today (Nov. 16). It's the final installment of the "Twilight" saga.
