The Taco Bell Loaded Nacho Fries of the Month for September is the Diablo Ranch Steak Nacho Fries, which follows August’s Chicken Enchilada Nacho Fries, July’s Pepper Jack Steak Nacho Fries, June’s Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries…oh, you want me to stop? Well, I have to, because there wasn’t one in May.

Is Loaded Nacho Fries of the Month a thing? No. Taco Bell isn’t calling it that. It’s just releasing new varieties every month since the Nacho Fries became a permanent menu item.

This month’s Taco Bell Loaded Nacho Fries of the Month (come on, TB, let’s make it a thing!) puts grilled seasoned steak, a three-cheese blend, nacho cheese sauce, pico de gallo, and Hidden Valley Diablo Ranch Sauce on top of a pillow of Nacho Fries.

The sauce isn’t new to the Bell, having debuted earlier this year alongside the chain’s chicken nuggets. If you’re not familiar with the sauce, it’s basically a marriage between Taco Bell’s Diablo sauce and Hidden Valley Ranch, and it works well whether on nuggets or fries. But now it’s been freed from the constraints of a dipping container and can be pew-pewed directly onto Nacho Fries.

The Diablo Ranch Steak Nacho Fries are a perfectly adequate menu item. The ranch-ness of the sauce doesn’t come through as much, since the nacho cheese sauce wrestles with its flavor, though the Diablo sauce’s smokiness and pepperiness are still there. The heat is there too, though it’s somewhat subdued by the ranch and nacho cheese. There’s still some kick, along with some citrusy notes. Also, let me show some pico de gallo appreciation by mentioning the tomatoes and their welcome burst of acidity that cuts through the saltiness, which at times was a bit too much. Yeah, water is wet, fast food is salty, and rainbows are uncatchable.

The toppings on Taco Bell’s Diablo Ranch Steak Nacho Fries go well with the chain’s seasoned fries and steak, but if you’re a Taco Bell regular, this will taste familiar to you. If you want to skip it, go ahead. Nothing about it should cause any FOMO. Besides, there’ll probably be a Taco Bell Loaded Nacho Fries of the Month in mid to late October.

This fall, Dunkin’ is offering up plenty of drinks you’d expect for the season; it’s also stepping out of the pumpkin patch and into the…trattoria? The seasonal menu features four drinks inspired by an Italian dessert that I don’t typically associate with Autumn but do associate with coffee: tiramisu! The simplest of these beverages, the Tiramisu Shakin’ Espresso, combines espresso shots, oat milk, and tiramisu flavor swirl, shaken and served over ice. I just learned that tiramisu means “pick me up,” which I think is a delightful name for a coffee-spiked dessert. So will this Dunkin’ offering lift you up?

From the looks of it, nothing particularly exciting is happening here. It looks like your standard cup of milky iced coffee, and if you’re lucky, the Dunkin’ employee who made it will have properly jostled the ingredients to produce a nice froth on top. I was not so lucky with my first order, but my second try of the drink did have a noticeable bubbly layer.

Upon tasting this, I can’t in good faith tell you I would have any idea I was drinking something specifically tiramisu-flavored; instead, my first thought was “This is like coffee-flavored coffee,” which sounds silly but it’s true. It doesn’t feature anything obviously reminiscent of mascarpone cheese, and there’s no essence of ladyfingers.

What there is, though, is an amplified coffee flavor that’s pleasantly bittersweet. Since I know it’s supposed to taste like tiramisu, I could attribute some of the bitterness to the possible inclusion of cocoa powder in the swirl, but more so, I think this just really leans into tasting like a well-balanced coffee. Its sweetness isn’t over the top; the concentrated coffee flavors truly shine, and the oatmilk brings some creaminess to round it all out.

At times I almost thought there were some almond-esque notes, but this might just be a hint of nuttiness from the oatmilk. The overall flavor profile is rich, roasty coffee, and while it isn’t going to blow your mind, it did lift my spirits. It’s smooth and easily drinkable in a way that I’d happily order it as an everyday coffee. To some degree, this is the drink’s problem. I really enjoy it, but is it anything to write home about? Shouldn’t my coffee always taste like coffee?

In theory, I could probably get something like this anywhere, anytime, but because this flavor is seasonal, I suppose if I want this experience from Dunkin’ I’ll have to get it before the pumpkins collapse on themselves and the peppermint gets rolled out. It may not transport you to the dessert course at your favorite Italian joint, but the Tiramisu Shakin’ Espresso is a welcome pick-me-up if you like your coffee to taste like coffee and don’t mind being shaken down about six dollars for it.

No ingredient encapsulates the fall season more than cinnamon. It’s reddish-brown like fall leaves; its warming sensation is welcoming during the cool autumn months; its flavor shows up in every pumpkin spice and pie-flavored product that hits shelves this time of year, and Nestle Toll House says so with its new Limited Edition Fall Cinnamon Cookie Dough.

With the description “cinnamon cookie dough with sprinkles & cinnamon sugar flakes,” it’s easy to know exactly what this cookie will taste and smell like. There are no surprises here. Well, the only surprise is this message about what will happen after I open the package.

The fall leaf sprinkles on my block of unbaked cookie dough look as if someone started using a leaf blower to push them to one side, but abandoned the job because the leaf blower’s battery needed recharging. But that uneven distribution is fine because the sprinkles don’t really matter. They’re just there for decoration and don’t provide any flavor or much crunch.

What provides all the cinnamon is the dough and those cinnamon sugar flakes. I thought those latter would’ve added a cinnamon kick on top of the dough, but they don’t, and they don’t offer any textural contrast. I had hoped they might add a sugary crunch, but they don’t. When baked, the cookies are soft in the middle with a slight crunch at the edges. It’s a simple cinnamon cookie with a simple, pleasant cinnamon flavor that also tastes similar to other cinnamon baked goods.

But if you want to spruce this up, I’d recommend cream cheese frosting to give it a cinnamon roll vibe. Oh, speaking of which, baking the dough made my kitchen smell like a Cinnabon, though not as intense as standing in one.

Nestle Toll House’s Limited Edition Fall Cinnamon Cookie Dough isn’t an exciting cookie, but it’s good and safe enough that I imagine it will make an annual appearance for years to come.

Blood orange is a superior citrus fruit. Cara cara oranges? Pfffft. I prefer my pigmentation with anthocyanins over carotenoids. Amirite? High five, anthocyaniners! Boom!

Although blood oranges are a top-tier citrus fruit, the big prebiotic soda brands haven’t made a blood orange flavor yet. Thankfully, Cove dove into this Halloween season with a limited edition blood orange flavor, with the can declaring it “scary good.”

What makes a blood orange one of the best fruits in the Citrus × sinensis species is how sweet it is, plus the gorgeous red flesh that gives it its name. There’s also supposedly a hint of raspberry-like flavor that distinguishes it from other oranges, though I haven’t really picked that up in the fruits I’ve eaten or in the soda. But the soda’s more sweet-than-sour profile screams blood orange.

I’m not sure I’d personally call it “scary good,” though. I’d describe it as “fangtastic” instead, since there’s no reason to be afraid of this flavor and fangtastic is just the more fitting word. Feel free to use that, Cove, for next year’s can. You’re welcome.

The only thing that scares me is that this is a Halloween limited edition. Once it’s gone, it might never return. Although that thought isn’t as scary as stepping on Lego pieces, durian air fresheners, and four-legged pets with two different eye colors.

If you’re into blood oranges and sodas that help your digestive system, Cove’s Limited Edition Blood Orange Prebiotic Soda will surely satisfy your citrus-sinking fangs. Again, it’s fangtastic. Boom!

I’m going to create a little commotion about my pint of Favorite Day Caramel Commotion Ice Cream, which is made up of salty caramel ice cream, caramel swirls, and caramel-filled cups.

Oh, I’m sorry. Did I type “caramel-filled cups”? I meant to write “caramel-filled cup,” because my entire pint had ONE measly caramel cup.

That’s pretty amazing, so I can’t be entirely mad about it. What are the odds? One in a million? One in five million? Unless quality control at the ice cream plant is horrendous and there are pints across the country with just one caramel cup each. In that case, I’d be upset for thinking mine was special.

I’m also not that upset because the cups really only add texture, and the one spoonful that had my lone piece of candy didn’t dramatically change the ice cream’s overall caramel-ness. I don’t even remember the chocolatey coating being noticeable. Even without the cups, the pint still delivers a heavy dose of flavor. The easy-to-scoop ice cream base has a strong, buttery, sweet caramel flavor on its own, and the swirls add a gooey texture, but don’t amp up the caramel any further.

Favorite Day’s Caramel Commotion Ice Cream is all a bit one-note flavor-wise, but I did finish the pint quickly. Although, that was partly because it was good, and partly because I was hoping to find another caramel cup.

So if you love caramel as much as I love watching quirky Korean lawyer dramas, you’ll probably enjoy this. And if you pick it up, let me know how many candy pieces you got in your pint.

Here’s what the can says about the flavor: “Don’t let it fool you… This limited-edition Sour Apple soda might be sweet, but it defff has a bite. Deliciously tart with a sour kick, it’s the twist your taste buds didn’t see coming.”

Um, my taste buds didn’t see that twist coming because they lack eyes. But my eyes saw it coming because the “zing” and “sour” splattered on the can, which gave me flashbacks to episodes of the 1960s “Batman” TV show. Holy retro, Batman!

The soda looks like apple juice watered down to criminal levels. Thankfully, its aroma and flavor aren’t diluted. It has that familiar delicious sweet-and-tart scent and taste found in various green apple-flavored products. It’s a smell I wouldn’t mind wafting through my car or house. Its “sour kick” is a bit milder than I expected, but it ended up being the right amount. No sour face here.

However, at the end of the sip there’s a bit of a beer-ish aftertaste that I found to be a little odd. Also, the apple cider vinegar, a staple ingredient in Poppi sodas, is a bit more noticeable in this one.

Within the Poppi universe, this is a nice flavor. It’s not Wild Berry delicious (my favorite, if you didn’t know), but it’s still a good drink. It has also made me wonder what other fruity flavors could use a bit more sourness. Wild Berry Sour, perhaps?

I understand Taco Bell needs money to pay employees and erase the chain’s history of being the go-to place for cheap eats by tearing down its classic locations heavy on arches and replacing them with modern, straight-lined buildings designed to look like a fashionable fast food chain with prices to match, but… ugh. I could complain about how the price and size of Taco Bell’s Gordita Crunch Duos have the stank of shrinkflation, but I’ve done that before, and my six-year-old didn’t appreciate listening to it.

So let’s start again.

Apple isn’t the only company that recently introduced a product with the word “Duo” in its name. Taco Bell’s Gordita Crunch Duos is the latest mini menu item that comes in pairs, following the same snack-size blueprint as the Street Chalupas (meh) and Dipping Burritos (better than meh) from last year.

Both varieties come with a warm flatbread hugging a crispy white corn taco shell filled with lettuce, pico de gallo, Taco Bell’s usual three-cheese blend that we can all name off the top of our heads, creamy chipotle sauce, and your choice of grilled marinated steak or slow-roasted chicken. I picked up both protein choices, which cost me over $12 ($6.19 for steak, $5.99 for chicken).

While I’m not a fan of Taco Bell’s Street Chalupas, I enjoyed these Gordita Crunch Duos more.

My issue with the Street Chalupas was that they were too bready, which kept the other ingredients from shining. That’s not the case here. The flatbread and taco shell strike a better balance between all the components. With every bite, the meatiness, cheesiness, chipotle-ness, and pico de gallo-ness all come through clearly. The white corn shell adds a nice crispiness and a flavor that strays from the usual yellow corn shell. It’s not better, just different. And that crispiness is definitely needed, since everything else doesn’t give my teeth much resistance. Heck, the steak is nearly as tender as the flatbread.

As a fan of Taco Bell’s creamy chipotle sauce, I’m glad I could actually taste it here, and the pico de gallo brings a nice acidic kick. While I liked the flavors of the Gordita Crunch Duos, they’re very familiar, since there aren’t any new sauces or ingredients here. They have standard Taco Bell ingredients in a mix that’s probably been done before, but in smaller packages.

Despite being snack-sized, I found two of them almost enough to fill me up, likely thanks to the flatbread. Still, their size feels engineered to nudge you into ordering one more thing to make it seem like a full meal. Though, they looked huge in my six-year-old’s hands.

I liked these Gordita Crunch Duos enough that I might buy them again, even if it helps Taco Bell pay for destroying its beloved classic locations.

Full disclosure: I’ve never stepped into a Buffalo Wild Wings or tried one of its sauces. I have, however, eaten at Hooters. I bring up my dining and poor date-location history to let you know I have no idea whether this new Pringles series accurately imitates the flavors of BMW…I mean, BWW.

The line has three flavors — Medium Buffalo, Parmesan Garlic, and Asian Zing. I tried to get all three, but ended up only purchasing the Medium Buffalo and Parmesan Garlic. The cans feature sauce bottle designs, which may or may not be related to the Buffalo Wild Wings dining experience. Again, I’ve never been to a BBB…I mean, BWW, so I don’t know how its business is run, what the decor is like, if there are sauce bottles on the tables, or if a giant winged buffalo is hanging from the ceiling.

Parmesan Garlic has a bold, cheesy Parmesan flavor with an equally strong garlic punch. Also, I swear the combination creates a flavor that my taste buds think is not only savory, but also slightly fruity. Weird, right? Someone, please tell me they’ve tasted that too. But with the savoriness and hint of sweetness, what also came to mind as I ate this was how it tastes like it’s a few ingredients short of being Pizza-flavored Pringles, which I do adore. After eating three or four of them, there’s a faint kick that builds up, but it’s like half a point on my personal heat scale. I don’t know if the BBC version of the sauce… I mean, the BWW version broadcasts any actual heat.

The more enjoyable Medium Buffalo has a nice buttery, vinegary, peppery flavor. But something about it hits differently than other Buffalo-flavored snacks I’ve munched on, even previous Buffalo Pringles varieties. I can’t quite put my finger on why. It’s noticeably more picante than the Parmesan Garlic, but not as spicy as other Buffalo-flavored snacks I’ve tried. And compared to previous Buffalo Pringles, it might be a bit more restrained in both heat and flavor. I’m not sure how hot the Medium Buffalo sauce actually is at BFF…I mean, BWW, but from what I’ve read, it’s a friendly option for people who don’t want their taste buds overwhelmed or their mouths on fire.

With all that said, both of these BCC…I mean, BWW Pringles flavors are tasty, even Parmesan Garlic with its fruitiness that my tongue perceives. Though again, I can’t compare them to what you’d get with the actual Buffalo Wild Wings experience, since I’m completely blind to it.
