"it’s possible to install linux on gmail. richard jones wrote some python that allows you to mount linux within gmail. you can use all kinds of unix commands to communicate with gmail like ls, rm, grep, cp, etc. it’s an ongoing project in development but it’s very cool and allows you basically a 2gb virtual drive of sorts. you’ll need to have libgmail and FUSE at hand to make it work properly. libgmail communicates with gmail while FUSE provides the filesystem. I believe this is quite possibly one of the greatest works of mankind. I absolutely am entranced by every bit of it. It is Greek Orthodox chants set to a more classical vibe thanks to Rachmaninoff. Classical music is not my forte, but I cannot help but share this with readers of this. It is sheer bliss and the sublime. You just have to hear it.

One of my favorite things to do with this is have it play over my speakers while I read a thought provoking books (such as some philosophy). Of course, it can be enjoyed in itself without anything else. Give it a listen and let me know what you think. It's in a zip file with all the MP3 information in there to download from MegaUpload. You'll have to wait a minute to download it, but it is free hosting and worth it. Enjoy!

Not liking IE or (heaven forbid) Firefox? Then you should try Opera. It is touted as the fasted windows browser and I would say this is probably accurate. I use Firefox most of the time, but for those quick things, I'll use Opera. It has some really nice features such as password management and built in google search in the location bar. Check it out!

So this program is really cool. You can click on an image to bring up a flash (i think) animation overlaying the page. Meaning, the picture is enlarged in a popup while making the rest of the of the page is transluscent. You can check it out at the website to really understand what I mean. You can also have lots of images from one pop up by clicking to scroll through in a album type fashion. yeah, definitely easier to see than explain. It could add spice to your site.

Foobar2000 is my absolute favorite audio player. There's no visualizations, no crap, just pure audio. It supports huge playlists easily and is extremely efficient, using very very little ram. It's the best I've ever come across. Granted, some people may not like that it's not flashy, but hey, it's what I prefer and gets the job done better than any other player out there. Not to mention its OPEN SOURCE, meaning it's FREE!

If you haven't heard of Pandora yet, you should have. It's a "music genome project". It basically searches for over 400 elements of each song and categorizes them. Once you type in a song or band you like, then it will search that song and find similar ones like it so that you get only music you enjoy. Sweet.
