iPhone Addiction is on the rise, says Joey Mongolianut, a therapist for electronic device addictions. If you fit into any of these warning signs, then you may need a little time away from your iPhone. Just put it down, remember there is a life outside the iPhone and don’t come back until you’ve gone outside and talked with some friends.

Here is the official definition of an iPhone Addict

Messaging People in the Room

Maybe FaceTime isn’t your thing. But how about this: have you ever sent an instant message to someone who is in the same room as you? Doing it as a joke is one thing, but it’s a problem if you seriously prefer to talk through an instant messenger rather than speaking.

Waterproof Cases and Excessive Protection

Getting a waterproof case and excessive protective accessories to keep your iPhone safe is one thing. Getting a waterproof case and protection to bring the iPhone along with you in ridiculous places (i.e., in the shower, to the pool, to the beach) is another. This is a surefire warning sign that you and your iPhone are spending way too much time together. Try leaving your phone at home sometime, it won’t kill you.

Overly Pimped Out

Basic accessories for protection aside, do you spend more money and effort pimping out your iPhone than on yourself? Or worse, does your bedroom and/or car look like a pigsty while your iPhone is bedazzled, bluetoothed, speaker-jacked, and has every customizable feature and iPhone accessory possible? Then you’re probably thinking too much about your iPhone and not enough about everything else in life that needs attention.

Turning Down Friends

Have you ever turned down going out with friends just to play games on your iPhone? This can be a major problem, because humans need social interaction. Next time your friends go out somewhere, be it a bar or restaurant, just put the iPhone down and go out with them. Even if you don’t like the place, it’s better to be with people and not machines.

Compulsive Unlocking

Do you ever pick up and unlock your iPhone for no other reason than to make sure it is OK? Some people do this when they first get the iPhone because it is a novelty. If you have had an iPhone for over a month and still find your heart racing just to unlock it for no reason, then you might have a problem.

Nightmares

Speaking about closing your eyes, have you had any nightmares about losing your iPhone? This is even worse if they are recurring nightmares and you wake up to clutch your iPhone in your hands. Definitely a sign of either an iPhone addiction, or some other psychological messiness you should look into. It’s terrible to lose an iPhone, but it’s not worth losing sleep over.

No Service

Some people hate losing service because they use their iPhone for work, and others lose their mind and start hyperventilating when they can’t check Twitter, Facebook and Foursquare. If you find yourself irrational when you don’t have service, then maybe a little iPhone divorce should be in the making.

Conclusion

These are the top 10 signs that you are addicted to your iPhone. If you experience any of these signs, or a combination of them, then it’s probably time to put the iPhone down and remind yourself that life exists outside the iOS. Talk with some friends, go out on a date or just have fun without staring at the little screen.

Constantly Checking Status
Are you checking your email and everyone’s online status as much as possible with your iPhone? Do you feel a cold sweat when you find someone updated their status and you didn’t know about it the second it happened? Also, do you have ringers and sounds set for every update imaginable?
People are interesting, but don’t let a bunch of updates on your iPhone make you into a nervous wreck.

FaceTime Replaces Talking

Seeing a spouse or child over FaceTime when you are away for any reason is a great way to stay connected with friends and family. But, if you prefer using FaceTime over actually talking with people, then you may have a slight case of iPhone addiction. Just put it down and talk to a real person. You’ll notice the difference.
The “Slide to Unlock” feature has been around since day one of the iPhone back in 2007. A cool make up of a “Fold to Unlock” design was found on Dribbble and we are hoping it makes it to at least a jailbreak feature for the iPhone. Apple needs to take note as this is a very cool feature and a possible makeover to a tired design.

Otterbox has just announced the release of their newest line of hard core cases for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The Armor Series is going to be dust proof,drop proof,waterproof, and crush proof.

The release date has officially been set to June 24, so head over to Otterbox.com and get on the list so they can inform you when its time to order, they even have a countdown clock so you can see just how long until it goes live.

The latest craze in waterproof cases has been the Lifeproof case which turned out to be a decent case and has really been successful at being totally waterproof. They do have some downsides that I hope Otterbox has an alternative for. One being the loss of sensitivity between the touchscreen and the integrated screen film, this was really the only “deal breaker” for me with this case. Another small flaw that I hope Otterbox can perfect with their Armor Series waterproof case is the low volume both in the external speakers and in the ear speaker.

As soon as I get my hands on one of the new Armor Series cases I will do a detailed review and let you know how it compares. Until then, watch the teaser video below.
Apple announced they have confirmed the schedule of the 2012 WWDC. It will be held on Monday June 11 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Apple has also issued media invitations for the event.

There are no definite details on what will be addressed at the keynote, but we can pretty much assure you that Apple CEO Tim Cook will be kicking the event off with a presentation showing off iOS 6, OS X Mountain Lion, The iPhone 5 or whatever they may call it, and introduce major updates to the company’s Mac products.

Apple has once again released a Free WWDC 2012 iOS app to help attendees keep organized during the event. The free app will include the conference schedule with the ability to “favorite” sessions of interest, it includes news updates, maps of the Moscone Center and also photos.

The newest jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 is Absinthe 2.0 which is now responsible for jail breaking over 1 million iOS 5.1.1 devices in just a few days. The Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak supports every iOS device including the iPhone 4S and The New iPad.

There are roughly 365 million iOS devices that have been sold to date according to Apple and the truth is, there is no way of knowing just how many devices are still actively in use.

We at The iPhone Addict conducted a poll and found out that 40% of the readers had already jail broke their device with Absinthe 2.0 and another 20% were planning on it as soon as they found out it did not cause any harm to the device. Another 10% of the readers said their device were already jailbroken from a previous version of jailbreak software and the other 30% of the readers polled said they were not interested in jailbreaking their device, they claim they like it just the way Apple intended it to be.

Were you one of the ones that jailbroke your iDevice, or are you thinking about it but still have cold feet? Sound off in the comments and maybe someone can help you decide.
Apple released an updated version of iOS 5.1.1, build 9B208 is strictly for the iPhone 4 GSM/AT&T. There is no information yet on why Apple released the new version of the firmware though it maybe because of a specific bug or glitch that was pointed out. It must have been pretty important for Apple to act so quickly on it and not just file it away for next time.

If you already updated to iOS 5.1.1 you won’t see the option to update to the new version, but if you haven’t already updated you will be offered the new version.

iOS 5.1.1 was originally released on Monday May 7 and by May 20, almost 80% of T.i.A. readers have already updated to iOS 5.1.1.

There are so many different aspects of lifestyle have already been covered by various paid and free iPhone applications so no wonder there exists such category of specific programs supporting iOS devices as the date-saviors. These are small tools capable to prevent a disaster the first date can become. Do not let your shyness ruin your potential chances to have a great relationship with a handsome man or a beautiful girl, benefit from these smart programs for your iPhone.

SmartDating – the successful start for finding a second half!
Offered for free in the AppStore

Before charming a date by means of iPhone applications you need to find a date. For this purpose there are a lot of programs are available in the AppStore. Personally I like SmartDating tool because it is a free and location-based program for finding hot singles with the common interests in your neighborhood. Pretty convenient, don’t you think? I used SmartDating few times and must say it works great for a free application. By means of this program you will be able to find, chat and build a new relationship sitting on your sofa.

Features of SmartDating application:

private chats and IM options;
use an advanced search system for finding singles;
get push notifications each time the app finds the match;
look through the review “Who checked you”;
send emails and virtual gifts to a hot single right via the app;
the application supports Facebook so you can find singles via this huge social network as well.
SmartDating is a must-have weapon in the arsenal of every dater.

Awesome Pickup Lines: to make your potential date interested in you!
Offered for free in the AppStore

Another option of finding a date is to meet someone in a bar or start a small talk at work or in a supermarket. But if you see the potential date and can’t imagine how to start chatting with her/him this program can actually serve as a savior for you since it has so many conversation starting lines to offer. I like this particular program because all pick-up lines it contains are divided into categories according to a location or situation when you can use them and this database is upgraded constantly because other users can add their successfully tested lines. If you are a shy person with a lack of imagination Awesome Pickup Lines is a must-have application for you.

Have a lack of super dating ideas? Nifty Date Ideas!
The price in the AppStore: $ 0.99

Ok, you’ve managed to find a date for the upcoming Friday night. My congratulations! However, the next important stage of the successful first date planning is where to ask out your date. To make the remarkable first impression you are to arrange a really unforgettable and not run-of-the-mill date. A cinema, a restaurant and a concert will suit the second date but not the first one. Appeal to Nifty Date Ideas if you don’t have any original idea where to have a date. Basing on your current location the application will give a lot of interesting ideas on where to spend the first date. All ideas will be categorized in outdoors, adventurous, romantic, cultural and the specific category “first date”. There is also a Video Scavenger Hunt and Spin the Bottle options to have fun with your half.

Conversation Starters: to keep your date interested in you!
The price in the AppStore: $1.99

To keep your potential second half interested in you I advise to take an advantage of this cool application – a half-encyclopedia and a half-counselor giving hints on how to start and keep conversation in order to entertain your date with small talk and to avoid awkward moments. In other words, if you feel a bit tongue-tied during the first date with a woman/man of your dreams there is a high time to use an assistance of this smart application to start an interesting conversation and look smarter than you are (a joke). To be serious, the app has a nice interface and can really be useful unlikely many similar applications because it gives tips on topics you would have never guessed on your own but they can actually spice up even the dullest talk between two total strangers.

Excuse Me – the great application for finishing a disastrous date!
The price in the AppStore: $1.99

All of us want to have the perfect first dates but, unfortunately, a person you actually liked online can turn into a total disappointment on a tete-a-tete meeting. To avoid being rude and at the same time finish the disastrous date with the dullest person in the world you can use this particular application. Excuse Me will imitate a phone call (there is a timer you can set), the typical for iPhone “slide-to-answer” screen and even a male/female voice so you can use this cover as an excuse to leave a date immediately. It is not cheating if you actually don’t like your date’s character and still want to look polite in his/her eyes.

Your Thoughts?

I think with these awesome dating iPhone applications at your fingertips you will never leave a date with a feeling of disappointment or at least will manage to have a great start of your future relationship. I am sure there are a lot of other great dating applications offered in the AppStore. If you know some of them then feel free to share with the rest of us here or simply feedback about the described in this post programs. Do you find them awesome or useless?

Apple is in the testing stages of the next generation iPhone, and we heard from our sources that is includes a brand new display.

The iPhone 4 design has been the most revolutionary to date with its sleek form factor and incredible 640×900 Retina Display. The screen size has always been 3.5 inches for the iPhone since its original device back in 2007.

Right now we know of a few next-generation iPhone candidates in testing. These prototype phones are floating around Apple HQ in thick, locked shells in order to disguise the exterior design to “undisclosed” employees. We know of two next-generation iPhones in testing with a larger display: the iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2. These phones are in the PreEVT stage of development and are codenamed N41AP (5,1) and N42AP (5,2). Because Apple reserves certain models for internal-only usage (such as the N96 phone we previously reported on), we’re not sure which of the two devices will make its way into the world later this year.

Apple will not increase the screen size and not increase the resolution to go along with it. they will actually add pixels to the display. The display of the new iPhone 5 will be the same 1.94 inches wide but will receive a growth spurt to 3.45 inches tall, making the next generation iPhone looking long and slender. The new resolution will be 16:9 ratio meaning that 16:9 videos can play full screen at their intended aspect ratio.

iOS 6 is in final stages as well and sports a newly designed home screen with a fifth row of icons and an extended application user interface that allows access to more content. Apple will accomplish this with Retina Display due to the use of more pixels in the new device.

The new iPhone 5 will indeed still include a home button and a smaller dock connector as rumored earlier in the year. Stay locked into the iPhone News Blog as we have tons of breaking iPhone news and rumors on the way.

Steve Jobs was heavily involved with the creation of the iPhone 5 prior to his death. He understood that the iPhone had evolved into such an amazing device that it was literally an extension of the body to millions of people in the world. Jobs knew he had to keep up with the flow of technology and a bigger screen was top on his list for the next generation iPhone.

Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has placed orders from suppliers in Asia for screens that are bigger than the 3.5- inch size now on the smartphone, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had worked closely on the redesigned phone before his death in October, one person said. [...]

Apple has been working on the new device since before the current iPhone 4S model was introduced last October, said one person with knowledge of the project. Jobs, who had gone on medical leave from Apple starting last January, played a key role in developing the phone, this person said.

There are numerous publications reporting from their sources about the larger screen and the October release date of the next generation iPhone.

Apple has made the analysts believe that they are slowing down the production of the current iPhone 4S model to prepare the retail shelves for the upcoming iPhone 5. This is the same plan of preparation that Apple did before the release of the iPhone 4S and since the iPhone 5 is expected to be released this October it comes as no surprise.
This big gap in-between iPhone launch’s must mean big things are in store for both the consumer and Apple. I am pretty confident there will be changes to the design of the iPhone, it will be look like a mini version of the iPad with the slightly rounded sides, a 4″ screen and the metal back. Time will tell all, and Fall can’t get here soon enough.
There are a bunch of iPhone 5 rumors floating around the internet lately. Despite what you have read or what you have been told, Apple has still not finalized the design of the new iPhone 5. No larger screen, no metal back and no 16:9 aspect ratio is to be expected as of right now, that does not mean Apple won’t change it on a whim.

There is currently a new smaller dock connector being tried out on the prototype but the screen size, the aspect ratio and the home button have remained the same. Apple has made it clear that if the screen size does happen to increase with the new iPhone 5, it will only be a minor increase, not exceeding 4 inches. Needless to say, as it seems right now, Apple simply loves the design of the iPhone 4/4S that they want to keep it at least through the next generation.

October 2012 is still the projected launch period for the iPhone 5 along with the new 7 inch iPad. This is going to get good so stay locked into The iPhone Addict for the late breaking iPhone and iPad news.
Apple is going forward with the 7-inch mini iPad with a projected October 2012 release, possibly on October 5th as that is the day Steve Jobs passed away. Apple will be leaving no space for the competition as they will be listing the new mini iPad at $200 to $250 price range.

There have been rumors that the new smaller version of the iPad will be identical to the current 9.7 inch iPad just a scaled down version. It will include a 2048×1536 resolution display also with a pixel density of around 326 ppi, the same as the iPhone 4S.

Steve Jobs did not like the idea of a scaled down iPad, calling them terrible and dead on arrival. He was noted for saying, no one will want to watch videos on an iPod, and that Apple was not at all interested in making a phone. Steve Jobs noted that competitors stretched out the smartphone apps instead of making quality apps that actually fit the screen.

Steve Jobs’ tag line for the original iPad was “…our most advanced technology in a magical and revolutionary device at an unbelievable price“.

We can only wait and see what type of magic Apple will pull in the next coming year, this could get real good.
