First of all, you can look for rentals on travel agency websites. There are several well- known travel agencies that you can try. They will help you determine which auto rental company offers the best price. Some of the travel agencies allow you to request coupons during searching, so that you will find the ones with a lower price. If you already are a regular customer of a big car rental provider, you can request a direct upgrade, as many companies provide a very good deal for their loyal customers by using coupons. Another way of finding the best rental car coupons is by joining a car fan club or travel forum on the Internet. Forum members often know which rental companies have the best deals, and of course, the best coupon offers. A travel forum will be even more beneficial to you as the participants have had the same experience as you, going to other cities or countries and renting cars using coupons. Some might have had a good experience with certain car firms or some might have a bad experience with others. You can make a note which car rental company seems best from those experiences.

Another important thing you can do is investigate and compare the actual car rental firms. This is also a useful step, as car rental companies differ from one to another. For instance, one may allow you to rent a car for a one-way trip, whereas others may require that you return the car to the same location where you got it. If you decide to rent the car from Enterprise car rental, they normally offer better deals. They normally offer to pick you up at your location and then drop you off once you finish renting the car. Companies other than Enterprise do not offer you this service, making Enterprises a good selection. But ultimately, you must decide which rental company deal best suits your needs.

One way of getting a good deal from car rental services is to go online. Looking through different travel websites will give you an idea of the rates available in a particular area, as well as customer reviews that tell you which companies give better service. Next is to visit the websites of the different car rental companies and see if they have any ongoing promotions. You may find printable coupons or if you plan to book online, you may have to enter a coupon code. You just have to do an internet search to find the codes you need to get the discounted rates. Calling their customer service hotline can also give you information on how to get discounts when you rent a car from them.

Check the Programs
There are also other ways to get discounts when renting a car. Most car rental companies usually have loyalty programs. If you intend to rent a car every time you travel, this may give you a big advantage in terms of discounts. This also gives you a lot of other perks that other customers do not get. Also, check if they have an affiliation with any frequent flyer or credit card companies that you belong to. This may not just get you lower rates, but you may also get more points or miles every time you use your card on rentals.

When searching for an airport car service keep in mind that flights can be delayed or missed due to many natural and human causes. Therefore, your car service should be capable enough of handling such emergencies as well as any last-minute change of plans. Also, it is always better to ask at the time of booking if the company is flexible enough to adapt to such changes and to last-minute cancellations.

Booking procedures have been made increasingly easier and simple keeping in mind the fast paced life of the modern world. You can now book a vehicle on the internet to pick you at the airport. You can email your flight schedule to the car company as well to help them prepare. Bookings can also be made over the phone in advance as well as in person once you arrive at the airport since many car services have their offices located near airports. While making a booking it always helps to ask if the company is offering any packages, deals and discounts.

Airport transportation is often criticized for being expensive. However, there is a huge difference between ordinary public transport and well-known, popular car services when it comes down to cost and value. Public transport might knock a couple of bucks off but do not provide standards of quality that serious transportation businesses do. Your car service would be responsible for providing a quality ride. Your vehicle would be well-maintained and the journey would be made comfortable with the smooth ride as well as polite and well-mannered drivers and chauffeurs. Your car service would make it worth every penny of your money. There are also numerous choices when it comes to picking a means of transportation. You can treat yourself and hire a luxury limousine and make your journey in style and comfort. You can also use town cars, sedans or taxi cabs. Shuttle services are also available. It all depends on what you require and need.

Tip #1. – Assess your needs. The most important thing to consider before shopping around for a bus or coaching service is to think about what accommodations you actually need. How many people are you trying to transport? Is it a basketball team or a small group of students going on a field trip? Line up your needs before going a single step further.

Tip #2. – Figure out your budget. Knowing how much you are willing to spend on a bus hired service will dramatically narrow down your options. You can get a very modest bus lined up for your transportation needs or can splurge for something more luxurious and comfortable if it’s a long trip or a well funded sports team or celebrity. Find out what you are comfortable spending before you look into who can accommodate your needs (regardless of how modest or exorbitant they may be).

Tip #3. – Check online reviews. The best way to find a good bus hired service is to see what others have had to say about it first hand. This is much like word of mouth but you’ll have the opportunity to quickly and efficiently compare coaching services right online with a few clicks and a few moments of your time-no calling up friends to get their opinions required.

Once you have done the suitable research and assessment of your needs, you are all set to compare and pick the perfect choice. If you find you still have too many options it is a great idea to simply pick what characteristics are most important to you and choose based on that. For example would you rather go with a higher rated service or save a few bucks on the transportation service? Let these factors be the final end all decision maker if you find you are on the fence after doing your research and comparing.

Establishing Your Needs
Because there are usually a lot of car hire companies to choose from, first you need to know your needs. Consider the type of car you want to rent, your budget and most importantly, your age. Many car rental companies do not allow rental to people under 21 years old. As for the type of car, you have to know whether the company has an available SUV in case you are travelling with your family, an economy car if you are on a budget, or a luxury car if you need one.

Evaluating the Fees and Policies
If you do not want to end up paying for more than you expected, you need to ask everything you want to know about the fees and policies of the company. For instance, will they charge you extra if you exceed the allowed number of miles? Do they charge more for younger or older drivers? Do they have insurances available in case the car meets an accident and it is in your possession? Do they need to perform any credit check before you are allowed to rent? Do they allow refund? How much do they charge in case you return the car beyond the specified time? If you have other questions in mind, you need to ask the company before proceeding with the rental.

Comparing Prices
Of course, you need to compare the prices offered by different car rental companies in order for you to choose the one that offers the best deal. There are those that offer less compared to others for them to stay competitive in the market. You can contact these companies by phone or through their websites. However, prices posted online may be different from the actual price because some websites are not updated. It is best to call the company’s customer service through phone to find out the actual price and the latest promotions available.

Even if you weren’t able to book a car for rent in advance, there are cars that will be waiting for you at the airport. Most companies have offices at the airport so that it is easier for tourists to rent cars. If you have no idea which company to choose, you can easily compare the services by inquiring and asking the officers-in-charge about the price and promotions that come with the cars for rent. If you have internet access, go ahead and go to relevant forums to get recommendations. At the airport, you may find some people who may be able to tell you which car rental company offers the best deal. You may feel overwhelmed with the number of options, but you need to narrow your search by including only those providers who give the best deals. The rule of thumb is that it is usually more expensive to hire a car at the airport, so you may want to take a cab to the office at the center of the city, and then rent a car from there. If you do not want the hassle of having to find a company in the city, then you may just rent a car directly from the airport.

Knowing the Rules
It is important that you understand the rules of the car rental company before paying for it and taking the car. This is to avoid paying more in the end in case you violate any rules. Make sure that the mileage requirement is sufficient for you. Inquire if the rental company has a specific age requirement and ask the exact date and time when you need to return the car.

Paying for the Rental
Most car rental companies accept cash and credit card payments. If you are paying by card, make sure that you are using the widely accepted Visa, Mastercard or Amex. If you are using another credit card apart from these, you should ask whether the company accepts it or not.

1. Keep windows open as long as is possible
Most camping sites are located in hot sunny environments. In this case, remember to keep the tent’s windows open to create the best ventilation possible. If your tent is portable, remember to always store it in a cool and dry area; or in your backpack if you’re on the move a lot.

2. Shade – your friend
It is a wise idea to pitch your tent under a shade to maintain coolness. For instance, find shady acacia trees and set camp under. A location with good shading means will also ensure you have no trouble sleeping.

3. Wind – your best friend
If you’re camping in a windy environment, then by all means, use it to your advantage. Pitch your tent such that the breeze will blow directly through the window. This will provide and maintain fresh air inside the tent.

4. Buy a fan
Available in any travel shop are conveniently portable battery-powered or solar rechargeable fans. You can always use them. They will build up a consistent flow of air in the tent, ensuring you stay cool and relaxed.

5. The sleeping bag sheet – a bonus
Another tip for camping in hot weather is to use sleeping bag sheets. Most sleeping bags are equipped with soft woolen sheet consisting of loosened-up stitches which guarantees proper aeration when you sleep on it. At night when it gets hot, switch from the sleeping bag to this sheet. They are available in many shops catering for camping or travel equipment.

6. Take good care of your tent
A damaged tent could cause it to tear beyond repair. Taking good care of your tent will avoid damage that could cause you to having cold sleepless nights, or getting scorched by a typical unforgiving midday sun. Here’ how to take care of your tent:
* Wash and dry the tent fully. Do not pack a wet tent. Fungus will grow on your tent if you do the contrary.
* Use soft detergents to wash tents, or use warm water without any artificial soap. Have a sponge with you to wipe it slowly and thoroughly.
* Never use a washing machine to clean your tent.
* Keep candles, splints, burning torches far away from your tent.

Yosemite National Park – Yosemite National Park in California has a total of thirteen campgrounds from which to choose, all within the boundaries of the national park. Of those thirteen campgrounds, usually seven of those campsites can be reserved, and the rest are first-come, first-serve. Yosemite National Park offers many other activities than just camping, including hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, fishing, birdwatching, and biking.

2. Grand Canyon National Park – You can choose between “developed” campgrounds or camping within the canyon outside of established campsites. It all depends on your preferences. The Grand Canyon is one of those places that everyone should see in life, especially those who live in the United States, as it is as close as it’s going to get. Just outside of the Grand Canyon, you can experience the Hualapai Reservation and skywalk, the Kaibab National Forest, and even the Havasupai Waterfalls.

3. Fontainebleau State Park – Found in Mandeville, Louisiana, the Fontainebleau State Park is the perfect camping spot for beach lovers who would love to also have the opportunity to experience the bayou. Camping in or around the Fontainebleau State Park will offer campers beautiful scenery and incredible history. Surrounding camping destinations include the Bayou Segnette State Park, the Pearl River Wildlife Park, and the St. Bernard State Park.

4. Guadalupe River State Park – If you like canoeing, whitewater rafting, and other adventurous outdoor activities, it might be time to head over to the great state of Texas. Other outdoor activities can include hiking, tubing, swimming, mountain biking, fishing, and the study and enjoyment of the surrounding nature. One of the many beautiful aspects of the Guadalupe River State Park is that the river is lined with elegant cypress trees. It’s as unique as it is beautiful.

1. Not researching where you are going
Camping is meant to be relaxed and fun but it will not be that way if you are not prepared for where you are going. You (and your children) could feel that the 6 hour car trip to your campsite could have been avoided if you had heard that the roads had been washed away (simple call to the Park Ranger office would have given that information). Read up on where you are going, conditions, weather and facilities (water, toilets, campsites). Spontaneity is all well and good when camping, but a lot of effort can go into getting you from A to B, so take the time to ensure that you give yourselves the best chance of having a good time.

2. Not trying your equipment out before you leave home
Put your tent up at least once in your backyard. Try that new light. Work out how the stove operates. Nothing worse than getting to a campsite, and finding out that whilst it looked to be a basic piece of equipment, you actually need to be a Rhodes Scholar to operate it. Or worse, it doesn’t work at all, and that piece of equipment was crucial to your cooking!!

3. Relying on a campfire
Campfires can take a while to build up sufficiently for cooking. To put a Camp Oven in the coals, those coals need to be very hot and that takes time. Great when you can do it, but if you are pressed for time and don’t have the commitment to getting that fire set well in advance of dinner, consider having a back up plan.

4. Buying cheap goods instead of quality
When we started camping, we chose cheaper items because that is what we could afford at the time. But we have since had to upgrade much of that equipment because it wasn’t really suitable for camping more than once a year. Or, just when we really needed this piece of equipment, it fell apart or didn’t do what it was meant too. If you can, try and buy a quality name brand with good guarantees and after sales service. That extra money at time of purchase could save you a lot more down the track. See next point.

5. Buying up big on camping equipment when you are new
Hopefully you will heed Point 4 above, and choose quality items. But in saying that, don’t go crazy and spend a lot of money on all sorts of equipment in the beginning. Firstly, you have to find out if everyone loves camping and want to continue to go (otherwise you have a garage full of expensive unused items). Secondly, it takes a few trips to work out what you do need and don’t. Take your time and purchase quality necessities not luxuries. Our Porta Pottie was a luxury item, but in my view, also a necessity!

6. Shivering in your tents.
See “equipment we didn’t like” at our website (details below) or our experiences with wrong bedding at wrong time of year. Suffice to say, that get your bedding wrong, you may not have a comfortable night ahead.

7. Arriving late at campsite
Turning up late at a campground, looking for an unoccupied space and then when and if you do find a place, having to set up and feed everyone. It is stressful for all. The children may be hungry or they just run off into the dark unknown, thrilled to be released from the confines of the car. Or you have no idea where the toilets are (if they even have any – once more, hope you have done your research as listed in Point 1).

8. Underestimating the importance of lighting
We started out camping adventures with headlamps and hand held torches, because, we were going to have the moon and the campfire to shed light!! That illusion was shattered fairly early on, when it was time to prepare a meal and we had weak headlamps and as for torches, how do you use one of them plus do all the meal prep? We looked around at other campers, with their sites lit up like the sun and had experienced for the first time……..lighting envy. That was it – next trip we had our Coleman lantern (more of that in “Equipment we didn’t like” section of our website ), and have progressed from there to quality LED Lenser headlamps, LED lighting (doesn’t shed a wide light but a powerful directed light) and fluoro lighting (charged via our battery). It sure beats stumbling around in the dark, tripping over hazards, and the children all have their own headlamps too. Don’t underestimate its importance!!

9. Leaving food and garbage out
Come nightfall, and a quiet campsite, and you will get nocturnal visitors that you had not thought about in your camping adventures (and didn’t read about in the brochures). Foxes and possums and kangaroos are all ones we have encountered attacking garbage. We have woken to find the contents of the day’s garbage, strewn across the site. We quickly learned from that, and now lock up the garbage and sometimes put it on our roof rack. Hanging it high from a tree did not deter a fox at Deep Creek Conservation Park (South Australia), from jumping up and pulling it down. If they don’t get to the garbage, they will try for your other food, so put it ALL away, and in lock up plastic tubs. In the USA we knew that bears would come looking for food, but we forgot about our own Australian animals and their love of food!

10. Forgetting that its meant to be enjoyable
Final point and the most important point about camping – it’s meant to be fun for all. Know that it won’t be like home (that is the reason you are doing it surely?), and that some creature comforts may not be available, the kids are going to get dirty in the first 10 minutes of arrival, and sleeping in close quarters with family members may be challenging(!!). But apart from those trivialities, remember that you are there to enjoy the yourself, spend time with your family and experience life away from suburbia. So laugh at the mistakes (and learn from them), and don’t get disillusioned if your early camping experience is not perfection in the early days. The main thing is that you are out enjoying the great outdoors.

Tip 1: Campsite Selection. Tent care starts when you are selecting your campsite. You should try to find an established campsite on a flat and even spot with no vegetation. The ideal campsite is sheltered from the wind and far enough away from other campers to afford you some privacy. You should pay particular attention to the type of ground, hard rocky ground or loose sandy areas can be very tough to place tent pegs into.

Prior to pitching your tent, you should clear any rocks, sticks or any other foreign objects from the area. This will not only make your sleeping place more comfortable, it will also help protect your tent by ensuring you don’t step on a sharp rock and puncture the floor.

Tip 2: Use a footprint. If possible you should always use a “footprint” which is a cut to size ground sheet that goes underneath your tent and provides extra protection from any roots or rocks which you may have missed when clearing your site. Many tent manufacturers offer footprints to match their tents, or you may use a cheap tarpaulin folded and cut to the size of your tent. A footprint will also keep your tent clean and dry which will make packing up easier and quicker.

Tip 3: Pitch it Taut. When pitching your tent you should ensure all lines are tight and the rainfly is covering the entire tent. This will avoid any saggy areas that would allow water to stand, in turn weakening the tent and making a wet night more likely.

Tip 4: Remove your shoes. When entering and exiting your tent you should always remove your shoes first. This keeps sand and mud away from your bedding, and also reduces wear on the tent floor. Tents with good sized vestibules allow you to leave your shoes outside while protecting them from the rain. This is ideal if you or your partner has smelly feet!

Tip 5: Clean and Dry Storage. The most important rule to getting a long life out of your camping equipment is to ensure it is clean and dry when placed in storage. If there is any moisture in your tent this will cause mildew to form over time which not only smells bad, it also weakens your tent fabrics considerably.
