Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Wanderlust’ Tanks At The Box Office

It wasn’t a good weekend for Jennifer Aniston. Jen’s latest movie, Wanderlust, which has her and her hubby, played by Paul Rudd, moving from New York City to a hippie commune, had a less than stellar debut at the box office, our sister site Deadline.com reports. The flick grossed just $6.6 million — good enough for only eighth place!

Despite heavy marketing, Wanderlust‘s opening weekend haul was far below studio expectations. What’s more, word of mouth has been poor, so don’t expect the raunchy R-rated comedy to rebound next weekend!

At least Jen got one good thing out of Wanderlust — her beau of nearly one year, Justin Theroux! They’ve been absolutely inseparable lately, with Justin stepping out to support his lady love as she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Feb. 22.

Bringing the long-awaited R-rated caper to the big screen, the sure to be fan favorite film "Wanderlust" was released into theaters. Directed by David Wain, the movie hosts the hilarious duo of Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd while telling the story of "an urban couple who branches out to live a more counter-culture lifestyle."

"Wanderlust" also stars Malin Akerman, Ray Liotta and Alan Alda, as well as Miss Aniston's beau, Justin Theroux. During a recent press blitz, Jen dished about shooting the flick in a small Georgia town, telling GQ mag, “I have to say that I felt a real connection doing this movie because, in a kind of parallel universe, I was escaping. We shot in this little town called Clarkesville, Ga.”

Wednesday was a day of milestones for Jennifer Aniston. In an emotional ceremony, the actress, 43, received her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame as friends, family and fans looked on. To celebrate the moment, she gave beau Justin Theroux a kiss on the lips.

Although she and her sexy Wanderlust costar, 40, went public with their romance almost a year ago, it's the first time they've been photographed in a lip lock. During the ceremony -- with speeches by Adam Sandler and her Wanderlust costars Malin Ackerman and Kathryn Hahn -- Theroux proudly looked on, sitting next to his would-be father-in-law, Days of Our Lives star John Aniston. "I cannot explain to you how surreal this moment is!" Aniston gushed at the podium. "This is crazy! I mean, literally. I've walked the streets of Hollywood Boulevard," she said before catching the double entendre. "Well, no no no, oh please. I didn't mean like that. You know. I think we're about to get on all fours too, so this could get really interesting!"

Tearfully, she added, "I am a California girl through and through, and this has always been in the back of my mind. It was one of my wildest dreams . . .I am utterly humbled and grateful. . . and to all of the fans who have come out today and supported me throughout my career, my family, my papa, and my dear friends. . . Jennifer Aniston wore a sweet printed dress for her handprint ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this afternoon. She had the two main men in her life on hand, her dad John Aniston and boyfriend Justin Theroux. Jen also got support from her Wanderlust costar Malin Akerman and Just Go With It buddy Adam Sandler, who went casual in a t-shirt and khakis.

She kneeled down to put prints on a star that's located outside the W Hollywood Hotel, at the corners of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Justin was also present last Summer at Jen's Hand and Footprint Ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Just like in July, Jen made sure to pay attention to Justin — today, she was pictured giving her break-dancing boyfriend Justin a big kiss.

After reportedly asking producers to alter her topless scene in "Wanderlust", Jennifer Aniston weighed in on the swirling rumors that she has filmed some nude scenes in the upcoming raunchy comedy. The former "Friends" star finally confessed that there are "a lot" of skin-baring scenes in her new film.

"Yeah, there was a lot of [nudity]," the 43-year-old actress told ET Canada of her forthcoming R-rated flick. "Bottomless, topless. Yeah, there is. It's happening." She then described her naked scenes as fitting with "the spirit of the movie", which follows a New York couple who encounters an idyllic community during their getaway.

The "Horrible Bosses" actress went on saying, " 'Liberating' is a good word to use." Asked how she dealt with other cast members who took off their clothes on set, she jokingly explained that she just "figured out how to throw on a pair of sunglasses."

In another interview with The Sun, Aniston claimed that she had no problem filming some naked scenes in "Wanderlust". She said, "I wouldn't go topless for a cause, going to such an extreme to make a difference. But we've been among these people in this environment for almost two months. The topless scene was nothing compared to what happened in the two months prior."

Over the weekend, The Wrap stated that Aniston made a last-minute decision to pull her breasts-baring scene from "Wanderlust". She has reportedly demanded the producers to replace her topless scene with a "tamer version" due to her blossoming relationship with Justin Theroux, whom she met while filming the romantic comedy.

Regarding the report, a spokeswoman for Universal Pictures weighed in, "The scene was shot a bunch of different ways, and we have the best possible version." Meanwhile, Aniston's publicist Stephen Huvane denied the rumor by saying that "the scene is how it was always supposed to be."

In "Wanderlust", Aniston and Paul Rudd star as Linda and George, an overextended, stressed-out Manhattan couple. After George is downsized out of his job, the two decide to move in with George's brother in Atlanta. Along the way, they stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things.

After being premiered in Hollywood on Thursday evening, February 16, the David Wain-directed film, which is also supported by Malin Akerman, Lauren Ambrose and Ray Liotta, will open wide in the U.S. theaters on February 24.

Hold your horses and or Sarah Jessica Parker's, because we are getting some unfortunate news from our sneak peekers at early Wanderlustpremieres -- no Jennifer Aniston topless shots. Yep, this could be yet another Jennifer Aniston misdirection on the topless movie action moment. There really ought to be a law against this, though I suppose this is just the buyer beware element to modern media content.

Nevertheless, Jennifer did look quite nice, though wearing a top, at last night's movie premiere for Wanderlust. There's no doubt she's holding up with age. Now, if she'd only starting letting those tops fall for real, we wouldn't have to wait until some stagehand started sneaking out test shots of her topless (cause you know that's out there somewhere too).

Aniston, 43, said by the time she had to do her naked scenes on Wanderlust she had seen so much nudity on set that she didn't give a thought. "You do get nervous when there's a day where it's oops, I'm naked," Aniston, who met her real-life boyfriend, Justin Theroux, 40, on set. The pair got together in May last year after filming was complete.

"I wouldn't go topless for a cause, going to such an extreme to make a difference. "But we've been among these people in this environment for almost two months. "There was an actor naked the whole time getting his touch-ups and everybody else just having a normal conversation."

Wanderlust - about a a Manhattan couple who decide to experiment with living on a rural hippy commune where free love rules - was filmed in Clarkesville, Georgia. "There was a real community feeling," Aniston said. "We were in the middle of nowhere and we were all a hop, skip and a jump from each other peppered around this lake. "The farthest people were 20 minutes away. After work we had dinner together and we spent the weekends together."Jennifer plays Manhattan girl Linda who, along with her husband George (Paul Rudd), ditches their city life.

"If there's anything that appeals to me about the hippy lifestyle it's the carefreeness, the free love, the open doors - the no doors," Aniston said. "The free love thing wasn't happening on set, though."It's the latest big-screen outing for Jennifer who, since the last episode of Friends in 2004, has starred in several romantic comedies, including The Break-Up, He's Just Not That Into You and The Switch. Jennifer denies she's been type-cast and reveals she's happy to be Hollywood's rom-com queen — and isn't put off by crass toilet humour as seen in the recent comedy smash, Bridesmaids. Jennifer says: "When choosing my roles I look for if I laugh, if I enjoy myself, if I don't get bored. "If I see that there's something emotional that I can connect to and if I can imagine myself having fun at work, it sort of evolves.

"I really love comedy. I've loved it my whole life. I love making people laugh and I love laughing. "I also love the comedies that are emotional and have a reality base in there. Wanderlust has this. "I couldn't be in films like the rude eighties classic Porky's. They're great but I just wouldn't do well in them.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are not quite ready to make their red carpet debut as a couple. According to The Daily Mail, on Thursday, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Paul Rudd, and the rest of the Wanderlust cast hit the red carpet for the film’s big premiere. Theroux and Aniston decided to not flaunt their relationship and avoided posing for pictures together. Instead, the couple mingled with their friends and co-stars including Paul Rudd and Malin Akerman. Jennifer Aniston, 43, was all smiles and goofing around.

Jennifer and Justin did acknowledge their relationship, in a way, on the red carpet. The couple donned matching gold rings that bared their names. According to Celebuzz, after the duties on the red carpet, Jennifer and Justin met up with one another to view their film together. Theroux had his arm around her.

Jennifer and Justin began dating after meeting on the set of Wanderlust. Unlike the high profile relationship she had with Brad Pitt, Aniston is much more private when it comes to her relationship with Justin Theroux. Aniston, other than complementing his style, hasn’t opened up too much about her new man. She recently revealed, though, that age has taught her what she truly loves in a man.

“Having experienced everything you don’t want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down to what you actually do want,” she told InStyle. “As I get older I realize what qualities are important in love and what suits me. And what I won’t settle for.”40-year-old Theroux is equally guarded.

Wanderlust, Universal’s comedy about a married New York couple who end up living on a hippie commune, is packed with hilarious moments, due in part to the talented work of stars Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston.

Rudd and Aniston star as George and Linda in David Wain’s latest comedy, due to hit theaters on February 24. After George loses his job in New York, the stressed out couple ends up on a commune, learning to live off the land sans cell phones and plus drugs, nudists and a little free love.

While some of the film’s most memorable laugh-out-loud moments involved sex, drugs or a whole bunch of nudists, Aniston said that it was all in fun while it was being made. “If anything, there was a lot of laughter,” Aniston told The Hollywood Reporter of the experience. Rudd, who also starred in Wain’s Role Models, and Aniston reunite seven years after working on Friends together, and more than a dozen years after working on The Object of My Affection. “I love him. He is a dear friend,” Aniston said of working with Rudd. “We just have a true affection for each other and I just feel honored any time I get to work with him.”

Aniston’s current real-life beau, Justin Theroux, also stars in the film as one of the hippies living on the commune. “Everybody has a little quirk. Certain people had a hard time learning lines. Or learned their lines, and then would flub off when they were off camera, and then some people had an issue with cracking up,” Aniston said of her castmates.

“Paul Rudd is a notorious breaker. So am I. I may as well out myself while I’m at it,” she added while talking to reporters on the red carpet at the premiere for the film. “It was just so fun to watch everybody work.”Wanderlust is produced by Judd Apatow, and co-written by Ken Marino and Wain.
