After weeks of preparations including the song "Anim Zmirot" as a warmup to the real thing, the young singer and composer Baryo Chakshur who composed Yaakov Shwekey's big hit song "Birshus", is now coming out with his first single as a prelude to his first album that will be launched bezras Hashem in the summer.
This new song called "Berachamim" is based on the pasuk in tehillim(6, 16) and combined with other words from various pesukim to form a unique special song that is projected to be a big hit. This somg was composed by Baryo Chakshur himself and his friend Eli Asraf.
Baryo Chakshur is a resident of Netanya, Israel and is currently learning in Yeshiva Torah Vadaas in Brooklyn, NY. In America, Baryo is becoming famous as a singer and composer who captures his audience's heart with his unique voice.
In addition to his first album, he's continuing to compose new songs. even before the release of his first album, Baryo has become a popular singer invited to sing at weddings and various concerts. Now Baryo will be able to sing songs from his own album. People that have booked Baryo include Avi Kalmersky in Israel, Yehuda Nass and Miami Boys Choir. My Picks For The Jewish Music Blogger Awards - 2009

This year, we had the privilege to be part of the Jewish Music Blogger Awards.

Here are my picks, which can also be viewed HERE:

Jewish Music 26

Best Album: Avodas Tzedaka – Shloime Kaufman. I think this was a nice addition to jewish music, and most of the songs on it are really nice. Looking forward for more to come!

Best Song: V’hi Sheamda – Yaakov Shwekey. Hands down! (Although Eshes Chayil by Yaakov Chesed was also another choice for me!) This was an inspiring song which I couldn’t stop listening to! I was hoping that it would make it to the list.

Best Debut Album: (This was a tough one) Shua Kessin – Lo Lihityaesh. I loved it. Besides sounding so well on CD, he sounded just as well in person!

Best Arrangement: No Vote. I have not yet listened to all of them so I can’t vote.

Boys Choir Album: Yeshiva Boys Choir – Shmoy. Eli Gerstner once again did a great job in this one! Shmoy was definitely a good choice for an intro!

Best English Song: Generations – Shua Kessin. The words of the song, and the story are beautiful!

Best Yiddish Song: Emes – Benny Friedman. Great song, and nice words!

Best Concert DVD: No Vote. I have not had time to watch all of them yet.

Hello Sid band was established in 2006 while the guys were touring Israel on Machach B’aretz. Since that time, the band has been writing and performing up and down the east coast with sell out performances at venues such as The Knitting Factory and Triad Theater.

Last year, YK of jmusicforum.blogspot.com organized a Jewish Music Bloggers Awards where he gave both his readers and several Jewish music bloggers an opportunity to vote for their favorites in a number of categories. It was an exciting process to be able to vote for your favorites, read the opinions of some of Jewish music’s best known bloggers and finally see the winners when they were announced. YK was hoping that the Jewish Music Bloggers Awards would become an annual event and has asked us to host this year’s awards. We are so honored to be a part of this exciting event!

We have come up with a list of categories and are giving you, the readers, until Sunday night to nominated your favorites in each category.

Once we have firmed up the list, we will post it on our website and you will have ten days to vote for your favorites. Tonight, Matzav.com will be presenting its Second Annual Live Motzoei Shabbos Music Webcast Featuring Shua Kessin in honor of the yahrtzeit of R’ Shlomo Carlebach z”l, whose music has touched the souls of countless people. This event follows the first-ever live Jewish music webcast last year, produced by Matzav.com, which drew tens of thousands of viewers.

Tonight’s webcast, which is being produced by Ozer Babad and hosted and powered by Matzav.com, is expected to again be watched by tens of thousands of people across the globe and will also be heard live on Radio Kol Berama, 107.9 FM in Lakewood, NJ.

Shua Kessin, who recently released his debut album, Lo Lehitya’eish, is a renowned singer who has performed at events across the globe and is a rising star in Jewish music. His immense range, ability to sing diverse styles, and extensive knowledge of Carlebach music have made him a sought-after performer. Shua has a number of high-profile musical events on his agenda over the next half-year and will bring his trademark hartz and creative talent to this weekend’s musical event as well.
