I need to know are there any tips/tricks/pointers that anyone has to offer as I am actually scared!

Please Help!!!!!

If anyone has tips on how to study history, biology or study in general better let me know and anyone who is doing Music in collge now tell me your experiences with the course and where you do it. Thanks.

Okay so i am new to this and i decided to join to help and give support. I know good notes and A1′s are hard to come by. I guessed this to be an extra help as well as something to share and pass my time.(no i am not a waster)

I am here to help with whatever knowledge i have, and  to take you through my experience of the leaving cert. I am aiming for medicine and no matter what i believe with a good head on your shoulders you can achieve anything.

Looking at papers is very daunting and the range of topics to cover, but it is best to find you own time to blog, work, relax or even sleep, just to get in the mood to do something productive.

Does anyone have a problem with retaining information? and also does anyone have help to give like French notes?

Mock exam mock exams are underway… the only day I’m dreading is next Tuesday because I’ve got German and Chemistry on the same day… fun fun fun 0_0

I finished English (HL)  Paper 1 + 2 with an hour to spare on each of them… same with both math (OL) papers… Had Irish paper 1 today and I had time to rewrite my four page essay… so… I’m just a really fast writer? I get worried in an exam now if I dont finish at least forty minutes before the time is up.. well c’est la vie.
Studying now for Gaeilge p.2 and Art history tomorrow – god help me!

I’ve started German grinds, with three other girls from my German class (you can tell how good our German teacher is)
Been really working on four part harmony and music theory and things totally irrelevant to the Leaving Cert Music Exam because that is how I roll…

I actually really like exams.

As a father of a son preparing for his leaving cert I can certainly relate to the ‘stress’ and pressure in preparing for the Leaving Cert. I guess I wanted to come on to offer support and encouragement to the students who use this site. In my son I see he is doing his very best, at times wants to ‘scream’ and finds it is all about ‘pushing himself harder’….when in his heart he is saying ‘I’m doing my best here!!’…..sometimes I need to remind him to breathe, try relax and that no matter what he is still my number 1!!

From that place I want to encourage you in a similar way… there is so much choice and things that you could become and for many want to become…and you can! My advice, and it is just advice…. would be to remember that your leaving cert is just one small (at the moment it might seem like the biggest!!) battle of your life…. You will come through it and you will survive!!….there are many battles in life…and for some of you this might seem like a war…. its not…. its one battle and there will be many more! So what would I say… 1.STOP…as in actually stop…2.BREATHE, try relax….(do what helps you relax!!) …put where you are at in to context… 3. PLAN…work out a plan…..(no solider going into ‘war’ goes in unprepared!!)…. 4. stick to it…requires discipline (making good choices of where you are going!!)….5. GO FOR IT!!

In reading a blog on cao choices can I throw this at you!!

1. Firstly you can do it! Believe in your the ability you have.
2. Think about your passions, what do you love to do? Draw up a ‘My strengths’ list on yourself….be honest with yourself…e.g…I am good at…., I love to….., People say I am really good at…., … In deciding what it is you want to do there are already abilities, skills and talents within you… tap into what your heart tells you!! And remember it is okay to change your mind later!
3. Listen to the good advice of those who know you and love you. Believe it or not your parents, teachers and coaches are for you. They want the very best for you!! remember also too that they are ‘opinions’.. at the end of the day you will have to make that final decision….and again….You can do it!!
4. I would like to encourage you to listen to what the other students are saying on this site! They have been there so they know what it is like!!
5. Finally…GO FOR IT!! and all the very best wishes to each and everyone of you!!

The mocks. Useful exam tool, or cruel, sadistic tool used to frighten students? I have yet to decide. Normally, I’m not one to panic but as my mocks start Wednesday, I’m having a minor meltdown. Is it just me, or does too much happen at the one time. Mocks, CAO, and HPAT all happen so close to each other. It’s so hard to keep up with everything. As I’m sitting here writing this sham of a blog post, I am also re-installing my iTunes. It has picked a fabulous moment to stop working.

As I’m sitting the HPAT on the 25th of February, I’m looking for a bit of advice. Are the prep courses worth it? I have one in mind but I’m still not sure.

Anyway, I must get back to my iTunes account. I may very well throw the computer out the window.

!!I did the Leaving Cert last year (2011) and I’m currently on a gap year. I got the elusive 600 points and I thought I’d join this site to offer my advice to those taking on the LC this year.

I got inspired to do so watching those dudes on the Late Late talkin about how they got really high points! I’m also thinkin about sellin my LC notes, where should I sell them??

The subjects I got A1s in were Irish, Biology, Chemistry, Music, French and Ag science. I also got an A2 (Honours) in English, (I did OL Maths so I’m not really much help in that department.:P).

The first piece of advice I’d give is to get a study diary! Every day when you get home from school write in all the study you intend to do for that day. It’s the only way to always keep on top of what study you’ve done and what study you intend to do. If you don’t get around to doing something mark it in for the next day, that way you never leave out any crucial work that needs to be done cause you have a record of it right in front of you! Also, having a list of work that needs to be completed in front of you really gets you focused and motivated!

I’m open to any other questions from everyone anyone who wants advice.

Then when I looked at the entry requirements again I noticed it had said that a C2 in higher level maths was necessary. Ya I got a D2! For F sake! Now I dunno If I would get it or not?

So the mocks are next week and iv been doing 3hours evening study.. that’s homework included,

I am having regular meetings with my home.ec teacher and geography and its helping a lot considering my home ec teacher should not be teaching and i didnt do geograpthy last year,

You never feel like you have enough revision done and chapters not learned off by heart but im making it my goal to wake up every morning and picture me studying my dream course in Trinity Dublin. I think its working and slowly but surely i feeling more and more confident about each subject, positive thinking is the key..
