The pink skort is so very pretty, but the waist is too wide for me. I have it pinned up in the photos above. Unpinned, it falls very low on my hips and I prefer wearing it higher up at my waist. Ego Closet is very descriptive when it comes to model and product measurements, so I was already expecting this poor fit on me. The skort was super tempting for me, so I decided that to get it and have it altered.

The skort isn't too thin or thick and is very great quality. It features a side zipper and has subtle pleats at the front of the skirt. Dinner with the Bloggers

I guess these "Licious" dinners will soon become tradition among the Torontonian bloggers. If you're from the Toronto area as well, feel free to join in for our summer one! : ) I've met up with these ladies a few times before (the last time was also with Jean from Extra Petite). Here is the Winterlicious menu for Pan on the Danforth, the restaurant we dined at this time.

Appetizer: Kolokithokeftedes (vegetarian): Zucchini croquettes with feta, kefalograviera cheese and Fresh herbs, served with tzatziki. - Honestly the best thing ever. Best part of my meal.
Main: Aegean Pasta (vegetarian): Shrimps, scallops, steamed mussels, onions in a rose ouzo broth - typical seafood pasta dish. Nothing much to say about it. Pretty yum.
Dessert: Galaktoboureko: Custard wrapped with a thin layer of phyllo pastry - Blechhhh! Way too sweet for my liking. Only took a bite.

I don't frequent Club Monaco very often, but their Spring 2012 lookbook is making me eager to visit their store. There seems to be something for everyone and every piece looks versatile and easy to wear.

I love the layering done in these outfits.

Soft, neutral colours are big this year.

Leather Collar and Sequin Skirt

I gave up the hunt for a sequin skirt at major retailers and decided to look for one on eBay instead. My criteria were black, mini, a tiny bit flared, and of course...sparkly. I found the perfect skirt (and more!) at Lookbook Store where they have literally hundreds of fashionable & trendy items for sale at reasonable prices.

This is just a quick shot of the two pieces together. Sorry for the HORRIBLE editing of the background... moving along!

The blouse, which comes in black & pink, was noticeably wrinkly out of the package, but nothing a steamer can't fix! The measurements in the store's descriptions are pretty accurate, which is how I determine if an item fits me or not. The shirt is a great "oversized" fit on me and it's long enough to cover the bum (great for wearing with leggings). I purchased this blouse for two reasons: 1) I love the leather accents; 2) I love contrast blouses.

The skirt, which comes in silver & black, is tiny and wouldn't fit anyone who wears above an XXS/XS. It would also look extremely short on anyone taller than me (5'1"). The skirt features a stretchy elastic waistband and super sparkly sequins. It was just what I was looking for!

Overall, I love both of these items and the customer service at Lookbook Store. I already have a few more items on my "Watch List" and will be going back to them for future clothing purchases.

Pink Blouse and Leather Details

My blog has received thousands of hits from Google searches of "Canada Goose Montebello". As a result, I've received a number of emails and anonymous inquiries on Tumblr regarding my jacket and the fit of it. I'm gonna try answering the questions in one post.

My CG Montebello is newish (2010), but I haven't worn it much this winter due to mild temperatures. (Not that I'm complaining...) Strangers keep giving me compliments on it, which I thought was weird because everyoneeee (not exaggerating...(okay, maybe slightly)) owns a CG jacket. I think it's the style & colour that attracts people to mine because most CG owners I see have a Chilliwack. In the past two years, I've only seen one other girl wearing my exact jacket. (Not saying that I'm original, but y'know...) :D

The fur on the Montebello is removable, which is a great option to have. It comes in a variety of colours, such as military green, yellow, pink, etc. Kinda wishing I bought the CG55 in black instead, but I love my grey (among other colours). My biggest outerwear regret was returning my NY Jacket ($621 after tax) because I LOVED it. Can't find it anywhere now... sighhh!

Before this jacket, I would cringe at the thought of spending $600 on something that I'll only wear a couple of months a year, but I justified this purchase with the fact that...

it's Canadian
it's wearable for years
it's actually warm (and I get cold easily)
it's on high demand & can still be resold (I won't lose much after factoring in cost per wear.)
CG offers size XXS, whereas other brands only go down to an XS. And Canada Goose kids' Small fits me too. (North Face XS was too big on me, North Face kids' sleeves were too short on me, Arcteryx XS was too big on me.)

The fit of this jacket on little (92lb) me is only a tad too big, but the waist is adjustable so it's nothing to complain about. The length just covers my bum, but it doesn't make me look any shorter. If I had to be picky about something, it would be the arms. My arms are thin, so they have a lot of space to move around in the sleeves. There is a fitted fleece part at the end of the sleeves prevents wind from seeping in though. If the kids' line carried the Montebello, I would've purchased the size Small immediately! (Or if they carried 3XS...) I recommend sizing down with this jacket. My boyfriend, who is a typical size S, wears an XS Chilliwack.

Those of you who live in the city would notice a LOT of people in Canada Goose jackets. Other popular brands include, but are not limited to:

CMFR (Canadian) - haven't seen that many around. Huge elbow patches.
Nobis (Canadian) - for those who want to be a little more original.
Mackage (Canadian) - I don't see it as much as I'd like. The fur on the hood is kinda cool.
Moncler (French)- for the super ballers.
Moose Knuckle (yes, male camel toe) (Canadian) - I used to think these were from Stitches because of the shiny symbol and pompoms... but they're actually a few hundred dollars. Whoops!
Parajumper (Italian) - I categorize these people as "clubbers". Maybe I'm wrong.
TNA (for females) (Canadian) - high school chicks/entry-level jacket into the world of expensive jackets (for girls). They will "upgrade"... ; )

These jackets can range anywhere from $300 to over $1000, yet SO many people (90% Asian kids lol!) own them. What is your opinion on seeing the same brands over and over again? I'm only bothered by those who purchase for the name and not the quality. And I'm a little bugged at those who don't know how to pronounce the designer they're wearing.

Side note: I find it annoying when people say, "I wore [insert brand name] WAYYY before it became popular". They're the same annoying people who say, "I heard of this artist/song before they got 'big'." Oh, I'm sorry. You're too cool for me then.

Trendy Tuesday: Sheer

Try showing skin in a subtle way with sheer garments. We've been seeing it on every fashion blog and runway, and this trend doesn't seem to be slowing down. Sheer blouses are my fave, but with sheer tops comes the need for the proper undergarments. Some choose to hide it all with a nude camisole underneath, while others like showing off a good bra. When done right, sheer pieces can look classy and mature. Do you agree?

My leather gloves are new and fit SO tight that I had to size up! I can get my hands into a size XS, but can't make a fist. Even with a size S on, I find it hard to make a fist, but I know that the leather will stretch out. Taking a size S meant that I had to sacrifice the finger length, but the extra bit of material doesn't bother me too much. I love these gloves! :D

I LOVE Gap "Favourite Scoopneck T & this Soft Pocket T I'm wearing. They feel amazing and have just the right amount of drape. Besides Gap, I like going to T by Alexander Wang for soft, comfortable tees. Some may disagree, but I think it's important to invest in a comfortable t-shirt because it's something you wear all the time. You can dress it up with a high-waist skirt and/or blazer and of course, you can always dress it down. A t-shirt is the starting point for many outfits. Do you agree? I used to go to Old Navy for their affordable tees, but absolutely hated the thick cotton used to manufacture them. I used to cringe at the thought of spending over $15 on a t-shirt, but after buying Gap and Alexander Wang ones, I'm never going back to the cheap kind. Do you have a go-to brand for t-shirts?

The wedges are a new purchase (from December) and I only bought them because I love their simplicity and the price at the time. Looking back, I sort of regret it because over a year ago, I told myself I'd stop shopping at Spring & Aldo (they're sister companies). The quality of their shoes are horrible - most of the shoes I owned from them deteriorate within a couple of months! Their service is only semi-decent most of the time, so I've told myself that THIS pair will be my OFFICIAL last pair. I mean...they already had a small stain on them when I picked them up and they gave me ankle blisters (I know, right?) after a few hours of wear. I quit Aldo & Spring. (This statement is official now that it's published! tehe)

A great way of sprucing up your outfit would be to wear animal-print pants. You don't have to be daring to pull off this trend, as you can easily find a pair with the pattern & colour combo of your choice.

Elbow Patch Sweater

A representative from Beknown asked me to write a few tips on how to dress for work or an interview. Beknown, Monster.com's latest online networking tool, helps young professionals connect the world of networking to their Facebook pages. Those who use it can see who among their existing contacts is connected to a company or job opportunity they are interested in.

I kept my outfits simple because I want to direct this post to those who are beginning to enter the professional world. It's important to start building a collection of basics that you can wear separately in different outfits. Those entering creative industries can add more fun to their outfits with more colour and accessories.

Blazer & Necklace: H&M | Blouse: Gap | Skirt: Costa Blanca | Heels: Expression | Watch: Michael Kors

A full black suit is the easiest way to start your work wardrobe because the blazer and skirt can be worn separately. You can wear a blouse of your choice inside, but make sure the neckline isn't too low and there aren't too many patterns going on. If the sleeves on your blouse are too long, fold them over the blazer sleeves like I did. Footwear should be neutral in black or nude. Once you get the hang of it, you can start mixing and matching your skirts & blazers for more unique ensembles.

I tied my hair back for a cleaner look in this black and white outfit. The contrasting stripe on the blouse adds a little interest to the rather simple look. As you can see, I created a different mood to the outfit only by changing up my hair and blouse.

Although I haven't entered the world where I have to dress "professionally" yet, I am interning for a fashion/styling company where I learned tips & tricks on how to dress in a professional setting. (See what I wore to that interview.) It would be better if the skirt I'm wearing above was 1-2 inches longer, but I can only work with what I have. Sorry!

I purchased this pair of sequin shorts a while ago, but only got around to posting it now. Sorry! If you follow me on Twitter, you would've seen this purchase right away. Here's a Twitpic of it on. The shorts are short and I would label it as "mid-rise". There's a hidden side zipper on the left to help you pull it on. The shorts are fully lined so there is no uncomfortable itch. I purchased these for fun, but am still on the hunt for the perfect gold pair. Please let me know if you see a reasonably priced one! : )

I've been looking for a pleated skirt for the longest time, but wasn't sure what colour. Black is always the safest option, but I wanted to be a little more spontaneous than that. ; ) I saw these kids' ones and decided to give "Sunnyside" a try (the other two are a little girly for me). Now that I have the colour in hand, I'm not sure if yellow is for me. (see below) The skirt is fully lined with an elastic waistband. The skirt flares out a tiny bit and I want one that is straight. The waist is a little too wide on me and I may need to size down, but I wonder if the length will go down too? I'm not sure what to do about this... I need your help. : )

Let me summarize the two issues I have:
1. Should I keep the colour? I'm not sure yellow suits me... And not sure if I can style yellow in that many ways..
2. After reading above, what do you think I should do about the size (if I keep the skirt)?

Petite Fashion Challenge 12: From Night to Day

PFC 12 is hosted by Khatu this month. The theme is "From Night to Day", where we have to restyle a fancy outfit that we'd typically wear at night into a daytime casual look. Bonus points if you can restyle it for work!

First off, I'd like to apologize for the poor photos. With the holidays and all, I never really had the time to focus on this challenge so it's sort of last minute. *blushes*

Night Look - I'll be honest. I'd probably end up dressing fancier (hair, makeup, accessories) if I was actually going out with this outfit. Again, I didn't have the time or good lighting to put more effort into this look. Sorry! :(

Work Look - For this outfit, I kept everything from my night look and only added the blouse, belt, and glasses. Since my base was the LBD, I couldn't tuck in a blouse. What I did was wear a skinny belt around my waist and tucked the blouse from under the belt. I added a leopard belt on top to make it look like I tucked the blouse into the "pencil skirt".

The annual Christmas celebration with my friends was at Dave & Buster's this year. This place is all over the US and there are only two locations in Canada (one in Vaughan and one at Niagara Falls). For those who aren't familiar with D&B, it's a restaurant, bar, and arcade for adults. You win tickets at the arcade to redeem prizes.

Review: Old Navy Jeggings and H&M Sequin Skirt

I've been on the hunt for the "perfect" pair of white jeans. "Perfect" being well fitted. I find that most of my white apparel (jeans, tees, etc.) run a size bigger than other colours of the same piece. I used to own two Old Navy tees, one black & one white. The white tee was definitely more loose than the black one. The same goes for white vs. black jeans that I've owned in the past. Weird, isn't it?

When I got a 30% off "Friends & Family" coupon from Old Navy, I went to the store and immediately saw these jeggings in an assortment of colours & washes. They were on sale from $44.50 CAD to $25 + 30% off. (The grey pair was $23.99.)

I was hesitant about them at first 'cause size 0 rarely fits me. I tend to always need a size 00/23, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw that these fit like a glove. The website does recommend sizing up, which is understandable since the jeggings are stretchy.

Size 0 Regular; Waist ~11.5"; Inseam ~29.5"

The Old Navy site states that "regular" inseams are 32", but they are both definitely 29.5". I kinda figured as I realized that neither pair needed hemming. These will clearly NOT fit those taller than me (5'1 1/2"). I don't like the solid grey that much and already returned it. I prefer the pair of faded grey Levi's (below) I have even though they're not as fitted as I'd like them to be. Be warned: When you look at the white pair alone, you'd think it's white, but when compared with another white object, you'll notice that this is more of an off-white. The colour is called "Marshmallow White" on the website.

This is a pull-on style skirt. There are no zippers or buttons. I am returning the skirt because it is too big for me at the waist. The sequins didn't really impress me either as they were a bit dull. I am still on the hunt for a more sparkly sequin skirt in black.

Trendy Tuesday: Burgundy, Wine, Maroon, etc.

I've been lovingggg burgundy/wine/maroon lately. I think we've all been seeing it on various blogs and at retail stores this season! I'm a fan of dark colours, so I embraced this colour trend immediately. I've picked out a few burgundy clothing items below, but if you're not into a giant block of colour, try out some burgundy accessories to update your wardrobe!

As usual, I try to pick out things that are under $100.

Black, White, & Gold

Sigh. I actually don't like winter that much.. it's "beautiful" and all, but I'd rather not have to wear a ton of layers, a thick jacket, scarves, mittens, hats, boots, etc. etc. :( I live in Canada, so I'm gonna have to suck it up. I don't have any plans to move to a warmer area at any point in my life (love Toronto<3)...but why am I STILL not used to the cold after living here all my life? I'm a winter baby (February) too. Not only does winter suck in terms of layering, but it also sucks for commuters & drivers alike. Slippery roads, blocked driveways, blizzards that make you blind... How will you be embracing the cold this year (if you experience cold winters)? Bundling up for the outdoors or sitting in front of the fireplace at home? : )

Trendy Tuesday: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo x H&M

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for H&M collection will hit stores tomorrow (the 14th). Who's excited? The pieces are by the costume designer (Trish Summerville) of the popular book turned movie. The 30 piece collection features a lot of edgy, punkish looks that certainly won't appeal to everyone. Below are a few of my favourite pieces.

I'm a fan of leather pants, but probably won't wear those because of the exposed zipper. I'd totally wear the hooded scarf & the ripped tee though.

The leather jacket was the only coloured piece of the collection. I loveeee burgundy so this is def. on my list. The tribal earrings are cool and of course, an edgy collection isn't complete without a pair of ripped jeans.
