Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together egg, milk, vegetable oil, vanilla and bananas. </p> <p>2. In fact, I have a whole other <a href="http://www.smoothieblends.com" target="_blank">blog dedicated to smoothie recipes</a>. We generally have at least 1 smoothie a day. I usually use fresh/frozen fruits & a bit of juice or milk. The kids love it and it is a great way to add in extra fruits into their diet (and of course milk, as they don’t drink milk plain). </p> <p>At any rate, at Sam’s Club tonight I bought a huge container or organic spinach! And guess where that is going? Yup, straight into their smoothies…. We’re going to try green smoothies! Think they will drink it? </p> <p>For green smoothies, you take a couple cups of greens such as spinach or kale, add some fruit, water & ice (if desired) & blend. I’m thinking frozen strawberries & spinach for tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes!</p> <p>Have you tried green smoothies with your kids? Spruce up your party with some icky, but yummy party food. Here are some fun food ideas to get you started: </p> <p><strong>Snot C</strong><strong>ubes</strong> <br />Refrigerate yellow and green Jello in ice cube trays. Serve chilled. </p> <p><strong>Worms in Snot <br /></strong>Make snot cubes, as directed above, out of Jello. Insert gummy worms in each cube of Jello then refrigerate. Serve chilled. </p> <p><strong>Bad Apples <br /></strong>Using a small, sharp knife cut a small, round hole in one side of the top of an apple. Insert a gummy worm inside the hole. Create display of “bad apples” in a wooden bucket. </p> <p><strong>Monster Mash <br /></strong>In a large bowl, combine the following ingredients: <br />* 10 cups popcorn <br />* 1 pound plain M&M’s <br />* 1-14 oz. jar dry roasted peanuts <br />* 1 cup raisins (optional) <br />* 1 cup Reece’s pieces (found in baking isle by chocolate chips) </p> <p><strong>Bowl of Brains -</strong> (Great for Breakfast after a Sleepover!) <br />Scramble several eggs. To get the gray brain color, mix in green, red, and blue food coloring as you beat the eggs before cooking them. </p> <p><strong>Buggy Ice Cubes <br /></strong>Insert gummy worms or raisins (for bugs) in ice trays with water and freeze. I love spending time outside this time of year if we get a chance. We just went to a football game, a corn maze / hayride place, as well as decorated pumpkins and attended Trunk O’ treat at church this past weekend. It was a bit chilly, but I figure we only have a limited amount of time before we are stuck inside for good for MONTHS… so we better take advantage of our opportunities while we can! Here are just a few ideas to keep you busy both indoors and out.</p> <p><b>Visit A Local Pumpkin Patch.</b> During the month of October, pumpkin farms usually have attractions like live music, hayrides, and crafts, not to mention the opportunity to hand select your very own pumpkin right off the vine.</p> <p><b>Write A Halloween Story Together</b>. This is a great activity to make an annual family tradition. The entire family gets to choose the characters, sometimes making inanimate objects like pumpkins and candy corn come alive. Once you create the characters, the setting and the story line, you’ll be surprised how much each family member wants to contribute to the story.</p> <p>Save each year’s story in a scrapbook and read the stories from past seasons. It’s a great memory maker.</p> <p><b>Watch Halloween Movies Together.</b> Share an annual movie night together by renting “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” “Bednobs & Broomsticks,” or “Monsters Inc.,”. Make some popcorn with orange popcorn salt. Serve it with an orange drink. You could even put orange or black light bulbs in the lamps just for the special occasion.</p> <p><b>Go On A Nature Walk.</b> Take a walk together through a hiking trail or park.
