Johnsons is having their mucho coveted baby contest. Yay. A contest that usually can turn ugly after the short listed kiddies and winners are announced on their Facebook page with each mothers whining and wondering how come their little princess/prince didn’t get a chance. I still remember some of the comments that was directed on the page last year. But I hope this year mothers will refrain from being so sore coz surely the world wouldn’t come to an end just because ‘your cutest baby in the whole wide world’ didn’t get shortlisted or win. Asking J&J WHY your kid wasn’t selected is like asking WHY is the sky blue.

Just because.

Life goes on, que sera sera.

So anyways, I saw their posting on Facebook about the return of their baby contest. Didn’t really think much of it and when I read somewhere they were going to have a booth set up in Mid Valley at the Exhibition Hall on Saturday and my first impression was, CRAP – i hope MV doesn’t get congested with no car park coz we were headed there for the Sofia premiere (see post below).

Anyhos, after the movie, we walked to Jusco coz there was a sale that was going on and the husband needed shoes. As usual, I went to the baby section to look see when loo and behold a special small booth by J&J had been set up esp for me for those who’d like to join the contest.

What, no queue ar?…was my first thought. Then the lady quickly ran up to me to ask if I wanted to sign my child up. SCORE.  I scurried to buy RM10 worth of J&J products just so I Sairah could enter the contest. To which I finally realized that I’m sure parents were probably busy lining up at the Exhibition Hall to get the photos taken, hehehe, suckers!

It’s quite straight forward la, just buy RM10 worth of J&J products, get your baby’s photo taken at the J&J photo-booth OR you could scan your receipt and upload a baby photo of your choice (last year they said no head gears/accessories were allowed but ended up choosing kids with it anyways –  and boy there was an uproar so I hope J&J make their rulings clear this time) onto their Facebook app page.

Getting Sairah to pose came fairly easy since she was in a jolly good mood from watching Sofia The Princes. So I gave her minimal ‘directing’ and this was the outcome.

After about 5 shots or so, we reviewed the photo we wanted to submit and wala, the lady proceeded to print 2 copies on the spot….one for us to keep, and one for them to upload to their page. THE END. Fairly simply right? But I”m sure if we had a long line here, some moronic parent would probably complicate everything by being super kiasu and take their own sweet time. We were done in less than 5 minutes.

So while her daddy was busy filling up the forms and waiting for the copy of her photo, I took these photos, just for fun.

Hey that’s me. Yup nothing like seeing a photo of yourself in PRINT! Such a treat since I keep most of her photos in digital form. I miss hard copies of photos sometimes.

With that, we were lucky to be invited to preview the Premiere of Sofia The First at GSC Signature in Gardens on Saturday morning. It’s been a while since we went to GSC Signature so that was truly a royal treat. But of course, all in line with their Princess treatment I say

Is the Aunty done? Let’s get this movie started!

All smiles the minute the movie started. It was close to only 45 minutes but that was enough to get this kid HOOKED! When everything ended and as we made our way to the exit, she kept saying ‘I want sumoreeee’ but I told her to catch it on TV soon at Grandma’s house. I”m only lucky she didn’t pull a full blown tantrum for wanting more. She’s been watching bits and pieces of this series on Youtube and that seems to keep her happy. For now.

SEE, told you she’s already obsessed with the cartoon. I really do think this series will take appeal to lots of kids (esp the girls) and moms too. As an adult, I was certainly entertained as well and it was refreshing to see a new twist of how Disney tackles having a step brother and step sister in a positive light and being nice to everyone around you. Kudos to that. I’m 110% convinced Sairah and kiddies her age will learn a things or two, just like she does with her Pocoyo show.

Her Royal Princess going ghetto on her food, lol. Maybe there will be an episode of how to dine like a princess in the future on that show, heh.

And these were the generous goodies given. I have to say I am thinking of flicking it all for myself, hehe.

Maybe using the same chain Sofia wears, I’ll coax her to do more good things so she gets good merits

I came to know about Number76 after reading Cheesie’s blog. I’ve always been fascinated how her hair is able to stay top notch despite all that coloring. And of course I’ve always loved the vibrancy of her hair color and now I”m convinced that no one does hair colorant products like the Japs

After booking an appointment with BabySis off we both went on Saturday to get prettified

Our stylist was Victor (he’s Malaysian)  a new staff to Number76, Bangsar. My Sis and I liked him the minute we met him.  Not in that way but in the sense that he’s one of those stylist who listens to what you want and then gives his expert opinion. Very calmly and does it with a smile! He doesn’t push you to do what you don’t want/need and I think this is what makes a good salon experience pleasant.  I can’t tell you the amount of times I”ve had stylist recommending me products to buy and expensive treatments to do. I don’t mind their recommendation per say but it becomes personal when they show face if you choose not to go further with it.  Or keep pestering you to do it. And somehow they always want to recommend the MOST expensive treatment they have. Hmpf.

But that’s not the case with Victor. Such a patient guy. And skillful!

Okay la enough of Victor, don’t want to sound like I”m a huge obsessed fan, hehe. My Sis is though.

My Sis took most of the time asking Victor a thousand and one questions which he answered very enthusiastically and ended up with their digital perm. I on the other hand wanted highlights so we settled for partial highlights mainly because I”m not the type to tie my hair up so a full highlights would really go to waste on me. Unless it’s sponsored of course

Victor then suggested to change the base color of my hair so that there’s a better 3D effect to it and that the color contrast wouldn’t be so obvious. I was rather skeptical at first because I”ve always had black hair my whole life and I was afraid the color would be too bright. So I told Victor to keep it as natural as possible.

So there I sat getting my hair a layered cut (which I oh so love!), highlighted, base hair color followed by the Tansan Treatment which I highly recommend as it removes the dirt and excessive oil from your scalp & the silicon on your hair.

And then after 3 hours….wala!

Back view. I like how the back hair is still dark-ish but you can see brown under the sun.

The front is a bit more brighter esp with the highlights which does make my front portion of my hair look thicker.

The next day after blowing drying my hair myself. Doesn’t it look super natural? Like as though I was born with it hmmm?!

I LOVE the layered cut he gave me as well, I feel like it’s faster to blow dry my hair now since there’s less hair at the back, heh. Yet it still adds volume to the hair. Amazing.

What do you think? Is this a good change? I certainly do love it (so if you say you hate it it wouldn’t make a difference :p) because it’s exactly what I wanted. My husband suggested I add in a few more even brighter highlights in the front but I told him in order for me to have a rich Tai Tai look he has to be super rich first Guess he can’t complain over finding white strands anymore too, heh.

Safe to say I’m a Number76 convert and more importantly, I’m happy with Victor’s professionalism and skills in helping me attain natural brown hair with highlights! I’ve already booked a session for their highly raved treatment which I will blog later on.  While I”d love to rebond my hair too, my only woe right now is I’m unable to do so in the next 2 months unless I”m okay with the color fading a bit. Hmmm….woe woe.

So how much did I pay for it? As you know, I’m not a fan of paying retail so its a valid question to ask sometimes Plus I know that’s always a burning question because changing hair color and getting highlights is a costly affair.

Some of you pretty ladies asked me what other boxes I’m subscribed to at the moment and it’s been a while since I wrote about WonderBox Malaysia coz they’ve yet to send me any complimentary box for review. I”ve been their faithful subscriber since their birth in November.  It’s been a smooth sailing journey with them.

But in March, for the first time, Wonderbox received complains over their box since many subscribers were sick and tired of seeing Murad make an appearance. I personally felt the box wasn’t too shabby since we did get a Wild Ferns hand cream & a FULL SIZE Elianto blush which I’m using to work everyday. But seeing three other Murad products in the box was good enough to send some woman in a hysteria, lol. So as they say, over social media like Facebook, sometimes people tend to forget their manners so what followed after that wasn’t a pretty sight with women writing long essays on their page telling them what they want and don’t want.

And so you could say that was how their Mission & Promise came about. They are also the first beauty box to also discontinue membership of some coz they felt they weren’t on the same wave length as the company. A bold move but one that I applaud them for doing. It’s absurd to pay a mere RM39.90 and demand for full size products in every box….coz it sort of defeats the purpose of sampling.

2 vouchers this time around.

Perhaps to make a big comeback, their April box was indeed favorable to everyone, well except for those who couldn’t get to buy it – now how’s that for teasing

This has to be my favorite items in the box. L’oreal Professional Liss Ultime Shampoo (100 ml) followed by the Masque (60ml). These babies will calm and smooth out rebellious, frizzy hair with its Olive and Argan oils. Argan oil just seems to be the craze lately so I can’t wait to try these for nice smooth hair.

Next another star-y item – a FULL SIZE Ronasutra Mineral cheek color which retails for RM38. I love how they chose Cool Pink for me which I think suits tanned skin.

I was pleasantly pleased to see Esmeria’s travel kit for their Alpine Willowherb variant for oily and acne prone skin.

I should add this how the box looked when I opened it, stacked up and delightful to see *hugs box*

I”ve read countless reviews of Esmeria on beauty blogs so it was truly a treat to see this. The Alpine Willowherb keeps sebum secretions normal while soothing sore and inflamed skin. The Tatorol extract found in this fights acne causing bacteria, preventing uncomfortable breakouts.

And last but not least, something I”ve received in every box – the Timeless Truth (TT) Tea Tree Phenol Smoothing Mask, Gonna put this on the husband over the weekend

So what you think of the box? A delightful one don’t you think? I admit, the times her father takes her out for her evening walks on weekends around the apartment, I usually don’t follow. Mainly because I’m afraid of the heat/humidity/sun and besides, the onions and things needed for dinner will not cut itself up. I wish though….I wish. I absolutely enjoyed the times we were in parks in Australia (see my face, happy or not?!), and of course the cool weather had a huge role in it so to say I’m not an outdoor-sy person would be wrong, lol (I”m only not an outdoorsy person when the weather stinks). Perhaps with decent cool weather I will make more efforts to go out and play with the little one and we hope to make an effort to take her out to big parks as well.

But the other day Sairah for the first time ‘invited’ her mother by saying  ’mom, come, let’s go’ and that is when I decided to tag along.  Naturally took it as an opportunity to photograph the little one in her happy element.

Her little water gun is always her companion during her walks. Not sure how many people she terrorizing while she’s out It’s usually the flowers/grass that gets drenched wet with extra water.

But of course, her no 1 victim is always the father

What can I say except – Bliss!

Hey, at least I’m being honest okie. Would have been the same case if he saw me then.

But if there’s one thing I do believe in is change. That’s why I’ve always loved the Ugly Duckling story because I think alot of us can relate to it. Someone once told me people tend to look their best in their early 20s or as they call it the peak of your years because that sort of prepares you to find a partner and get that sucker hitched to you for life before everything else goes downhill, physically lol.  Of course no denying everything does go down hill indeed after you hit 30, lol – cannot tell you how many issues we have to deal with sometimes! I dare not even imagine what’s in store for the 40s *shudder* or when 50s approach *gasp*

He started off being a cute baby for sure. As you can see as well, that was the start of that ‘blur’ look which he still has till today. I thank God every day Sairah did not inherit that.

Drooly baby is drooly. Apparently he used to be dressed in pink as well because he resembled a girl with those long fluttery eyelashes (the only one thing I’m glad got passed down to Sairah, heh), haha.

Then throughout the years he ended up wearing glasses (and braces) and I’m not talking about those ultra sleek looking ones but more like those big dorky glasses so popular in the 80s and that must have at least scared most girls in Ipoh away I asked him if he ever went on dates back in his school days and the answer was no. Actually I was curious when I asked him that question coz I was genuinely interested in knowing where the heck do people who live in Ipoh go on dates.

So I guess my question still is unanswered

He claims he was fat as well but from the photos I got to see, he wasn’t all that fat. Infact he was stick thin which definitely earned him the dork title with his greasy hair, hehe. He was actually super studious as well but I guess in some ways that has paid off.

Yup, that was him back then.  WOULD YOU HAVE DATED HIM THEN?!

I rest my case.

Then his ‘transformation’ began when he went to the US. I always believe there will always be a country/place/and time for someone to change for the better. And the US was where he had that ultimate freedom to change for the better.  He started wearing contacts, started working out to pass time, started polishing his skills with the opposite sex too as well and by the time he came back from US….

Wala, a new hunk was born!

There you go – who you calling a dork now doc?! Infact this was one of the photos that enticed me to meet him when I saw it on his Friendster page.

What can I say, am a sucker for muscles compared to bones. And by the time I got to know him, there were a few other girls also interested in him but he obviously only had his eyes someone better, heh.

For one to become a butterfly, one must first be a caterpillar that gets ignored in school and college  :lol:

But one thing’s for sure, despite the physical change for the better, deep down he’s still the same old dorky guy who might be blur most of the time but is grounded where everything else is concerned. And if you ask me, that’s the type of man who makes a good husband Ok la, don’t want to say more lovey dovey stuff that might make others puke. I’m getting nausea myself.

Right now he’s bent on sitting for an exam which will hopefully make our lives better in the future and have been studying religiously for the past month so fingers crossed! See, nerds rock, lol.

Excuse the mask on the face,  it was late last night and I was bored so I thought I’d make him take a breather and relax a bit by slapping on a TT Mask on his face so he can look pretty for his class today Things I do as a wife and the things he does to accommodate this crazy wife

I for once will NOT part with my god damn desserts. Nuh uh!

Sairah is no exception; there were times we had to teach and drill into her the concept of sharing because she would be rather clingy over her toys. Over time it got better. But then a month ago, she became possessive over other people’s items, if that even makes sense. Like if I”d take my mom’s p hone to check something, she’ll go ‘heyyy that’s grandma’s phone!!!’ and the other day, I wore the father’s t-shirt and she actually told me off by saying ‘heyyy, that’s daddy’s shirt, why you wearing his shirt’!!!

Honestly, I was first fore mostly impressed how too observant she has become to the point of recognizing that ugly shirt as her father’s (but of course la, coz it’s ugly and tattered!) and secondly, I never knew you could help be possessive over someone else’s things, hahaha.

But on Wednesday, she took a huge milestone leap which made me and her father very proud. We were in Bangsar when we saw a booth set up for spastic children… I didn’t really catch the proper name of the center coz we had just stepped into the bank to withdraw money and wanted to get into BV as fast as we could. Stinky weather you see. We decided to donate for 2 children which entitled Sairah to choose two balloons representing each child.

And best of all, the balloons were angry bird ones!

We almost took just one but I wanted to take two so she can give one to a random child. So that suddenly became our mission on Labour Day – to spread some random happiness to an unsuspecting child.

But before that, wanna share the photos of the little one having her Northern Indian food lunch @ Chutney Mary!

We figured there would be some kids in Kizsports (where we were headed) but loo and behold, it was actually closed, being a public holiday and all. So we told her we’ll look for some ‘baby’ to give the balloon away. At first I wasn’t sure it this would be a possible feat mainly because she loves her angry bird and yes that child is obsessed with balloons too! So to ask her point blank to give one up (and this does not even constitute sharing, it’s giving one up!) would be going to uncharted territories. I can only imagine it’s the same thing as asking me to give up one of my bags to a random woman….the mother of all horrors.

Look Ma, ALL MINE!

First things first, we explained how she was holding 2 balloons and that she only needed one. I asked her which color she wanted to keep and in seconds she said ‘pink’…..like I didn’t have figured that one out already

We heard some baby crying so I asked her if she wanted to go look for that baby to pass the balloon to cheer him up, but alas, we couldn’t find that child. So off we went to Borders and a boy younger to her actually ran up to grab the balloon from Sairah, lol.  That was her cue right there to actually do a noble act but NOPEEEE, she held on to that balloon like her life depended on it!! I felt bad for the poor kid coz the mother just said ‘no no you already have this at home’ but you know what, I”m sure it’s a lie, that’s what all mothers say to their kid when they can’t get what they want.

She must have sensed my disappointment coz I asked her why didn’t she give the balloon to the child as promised and she just stood there with a repented face (I was also lecturing her of course, heh) and then finally she said ‘I wanna give the balloon to the baby now’ but unfortunately for her, that poor kid had already left the bookstore.

So of course, the next best thing to do was to find another lucky child! We went to Pumpkin Patch to look see when we spotted a little girl. And without a single ounce of hesitation, Sairah went up to her and extended her little hand out with the red angry bird balloon.

There was no prying needed, infact that other little kid must have been in some shock that she was too shy to take the balloon from Sairah. After the mom coaxed her, she finally took it together with a very surprised mom as well, heh. But the smile said it all…..the smile from both kids, one happy to receive something unexpectedly and the other one who was more than willing to part with it (with mommy’s previous nagging of course, small steps small steps people). Unknowing to us, some of the girl’s relatives were standing outside watching what was going on and when Sairah came out of the store, they just kept saying how pretty and thoughtful she is, ….awesome moment!

Cannot tell you how proud she makes me!

And naturally a good first time act shouldn’t be left unnoticed.  I know it is imperative from an early age to establish why we should give without expecting nothing in return. But for this one act, I just had to give her a little treat to celebrate

And naturally over the past few years I”ve learned to share treats as well and am always happy to give up anything of mine for my baby girl.

On Saturday, The Butterfly Project (Beauty Bloggers) hosted an event to unveil Bag Of Love’s April edition at Delectable by Su in Paradigm Mall. I was invited for this but couldn’t make it unfortunately. So the next best thing I could do was drool at the amount of cakes (should have gone for the cakes damnit!), products and the fun the girls had after seeing the photos on their facebook page.

I was sent a complimentary bag to unbag/unveil the contents to you ladies. This month’s theme was Earth Month / Green Bag whereby the products are of natural origins or at least contributes to it one way or another (I’m gonna get you get you get you get you).

Even the bag screams earthy as it’s made of bleach free canvas. It may look delicate but it’s strong enough to hold all your makeup items. I tested it

To the left is the Decleor Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution moisturizing cream which smells divine I should add. The white tube is the Nuxe  Brightening BB Cream with SPF 30 that unifies,diminishes the appearance of dark spots, beautifies and moisturizes. Both  are 15ml tubes.

This goes on the face, like this! Except I keep telling her she will never ever need any form of makeup coz she’s pretty like that.  Mom on the other hand….needs all the makeup in the world. Even then…

I was thrilled to see Burt’s Bee Richly Replenishing Cocoa & Cupuacu Butters Body Lotion for dry skin in the bag. Although it’s a small sample weighing at 6.5g I think it’s enough to take this along with you on a short weekend break. This franchise was brought in by a family friend’s SIL so go support and spend your money there ok

If Burt’s Bee wasn’t enough to get you excited, I was beyond stocked to see Phyto shampoo (I got for dry hair variant – how befitting), as I know this is expensive stuff that works! I’d had issues with my hair in college where I felt it was falling esp the crown area and my dermatologist actually put me on Phyto hair serum (not before laughing and saying my hair was still like a mop – you can afford to shed hair he said!) and it worked 110%! Look at my hair now *flicks thick mane*

And back by popular demand is the Definite Contour Brush, full size which is valued at RM88. I don’t know how to contour my fat face (there  would be TOO much contouring to do) but I shall use it as a blush brush. Sue me.

This was a good refreshing change to see a non skincare/makeup items which is The Body Shop Quiet Night Dreamy Pillow & Body Mist. The 100ml retails for RM59. This is the 60ml which is good enough for a month’s usage. The husband was the first one to jump on it and spritz his pillow. He claims he slept well so he looked at me, and then the bottle and said ’so this is mine ah?’ with a big grin. I told him to keep it coz he’s been studying like CRAZY for his exams so I think a lil good night’s sleep is something he deserves For the sake of a better future.

Hmm my nose is catching on Camomile Oil fragrance, yes, there has to be camomile in this.

And YES I approve of the scent too, mmmm….glorious glorious glorious smell of a good night’s rest. Good to see my QC master is doing her work well, lol.

Coincidentally it was the mist that was the culprit that had some spill and caused some discoloration to the canvas bag (you can see some bits of purple to it but I do think it adds some character to it, heh). I’m not one to fuss around with such things, but I”m not sure how the other subscribers would react. But Mi Mi has been super awesome with everyone’s comments that she’s actually replacing items that did spill, how’s that for dedication? Coz of that it’s really hard not to like Bag Of Love
