When you have young kids, you always seem to buy their toys from a few trusted names. I know for me, and I am sure for you, one of those trusted names is Little Tikes. Little Tikes is a household name for children that makes truly durable, great, and exciting toys. Pretty much anytime I have to purchase a gift for one of Hayley or Zane’s friends, I turn to Little Tikes. I know they would not steer me wrong as we have a ton of their toys currently in our household, and I have only had the greatest compliments on their products.

When we recently had the chance to test the new Little Tikes Pillow Racer, I was so excited. Originally, I thought Zane would be the one using the toy, as the ages are 18 months- 3 years. However, when the UPS delivered the Little Tikes box, and my husband opened it, Hayley instantly claimed the Little Tikes pillow racer hers! While she is above the upper end of the age limit, I can assure you that even a 4 or 5 year old would have fun on this ride-on toy. The weight limit goes up to an outstanding 50 pounds so if you have a smaller 3, 4, or 5 year old- they will thoroughly enjoy this toy!

So, you must asking what exactly is a Little Tikes Pillow Racer? It is basically a ride-on toy, stuffed animal, and a comfortable pillow all wrapped in one excellent product! One can easily ride on it, sit on it or lay on it of fun. These pillow racers are available in the Turtle, Dino, and Lady Bug characters. When we first received our turtle pillow racer, assembly was a real cinch. All we needed to do was attach the wheels and secure the handlebar and we were all set to go. It took all of five minutes to get it attached. While we can alternatively remove the wheels, and use it as a pillow, in my household, this has not been done yet. Once we put on the wheels on, Hayley was zooming all around the house. She had no interest to take off the wheels, however, I did try and it was very easy to do. I didn’t need any help from my husband to do this and as most of you know, I am not a handy girl! He helps with installation of everything in my household. With the pillow racer, I can take off and put on the wheels solo. I love toys like this!

This soft character toy is perfect for racing around! The pillow racer has four caster wheels that readily allows the character to turn in any which direction and the easy to grip handlebars make little ones readily hang on for an exciting ride. This new ride-on toy is sure to be a great time had by all in your household. Best of all- if anything happens and it gets dirty, you can easily throw it in the washing machine and it will be brand new.

Some additional features about the Little Tike Pillow Racer:

• No hardware required for assembly!
 • Soft, cushion body
• Turtle cover easily removes from the base for cuddling or washing
• Caster wheels allow for easy, quick turns
• Easy grip handle
• Maximum number of kids: 1
• Maximum weight limit up to 50lbs.
• Pillow is hand wash only
I have nothing but great compliments about this Little Tikes Pillow Racer. The kids had a blast using it and I love the fact that they could get exercise at the same time! I can assure you, that you can not go wrong by purchasing the Little Tikes Pillow Racer. It is truly a great invention! My only small suggestion is to start your kids out on a carpeted area first. Hayley is older so she had no problems controlling the speed, however, if your kids are younger, they might not have the coordination to control the speed. This ride-on does go fast on hardwood floors, so I would probably advice to practice on carpet first. Once they get the hang of it, they will excel on the hardwood floors.

Buy it: Little Tikes products can be bought at Amazon, Babies R’ Us, Toys R’ Us, Target, and many fine retailers across the country. You can also buy the Little Tikes Pillow Racer directly from Little Tikes for $39.99

Pediped Kids Shoes Review-Giveaway! - The Mommyhood Chronicles - Product Reviews, Giveaways and Everything Mommy!

I LOVE adorable kids shoes! There is nothing cuter than seeing a little boy/girl learning to take his/her first steps in some adorable kicks. When Hayley was young, I was first introduced to the Pediped shoe line and owned several pairs of walking shoes. As she is getting bigger, her foot sizing is changing more and more, and we still resort to going shoe shopping at Pediped. When Zane was a baby, he did not own one pair of shoes that stayed on his feet! Every shoe he owned, he ripped off his feet and then they ended up as a teething toy in his mouth. I am sure you can relate. Since I did not know that Pediped made boy shoes, I did not resort to them. Well, I recently found out, I was so wrong- Pediped sells both boy and girl shows from toddler through school aged kids (up to 8 years old). I was so excited to find this out!

Pediped footwear was created in 2004 by Angela and Brian Edgeworth who wanted their kids to have shoes that were healthy for their feet. They wanted to create the next best thing to bare feet since doctors recommend barefoot walking or soft leather soft swoles shoes. With the choices being so limited, they ventured to do just that – create the best thing next to bare feet As so became the story of Pediped!

Pediped has become one of the fastest growing childrens footwear brands in the US and offers more than 120 designs spanning EU sizes 17-22. Their footwear line includes the Originals (soft soled shoes for children ages birth to 2), Grip n’ Go (soft rubber soled shoes for children 9 months to 3 years) and Flex (rubber soled shoes for children 1-8 years). Pediped is now sold worldwide!

When we had the chance to review Zane’s real first shoe from Pediped- I was amazed! He kept the shoe on all day. He tried to take the shoe off but it just wasn’t working out for him, which excited me so much! No more losing shoes in the restaurants or Target. I can go out knowing that we still will return with two shoes! Not only are these shoes so hard to take off, but they are extrememly comfortable. My daughter still wears various Flex Pedipeds and always tells me how she loves these shoes. I can’t say the same about other shoe brands she has worn; only to be told how uncomfortable they were. Pediped uses only the highest quality leather which is second to none. They are also one of the first children’s shoe companies that the American Podiatric Medical Association awarded their Seal of Acceptance for promoting healthy foot development.

In addition to the comfort factor, the designs of the shoes are truly incredible. I always search through their shoeline to find out the hippest and latest trends. For the girl line, they have the cutest pinks, purples, browns, and whites. You can get them in plain colors or add on adorable polka dots or flowers to make your girls’ little feet really stand out. For boys, they have all blacks, blues, browns and some rugged, as well as classic designs.

For Zane, we reviewed the Original which is the truly one of the best first shoes for those learning to walk. They have been incredible for us, as he is journeying now towards “running” in a few short weeks. He will then transition to the grip n’ go which is the perfect shoe for the active toddler transitioning from walking to a confident stride. Lastly, we will head towards the Flex line, which is the ultimate shoe for confident walkers who have developed a solid, natural stride. Hayley is now in the Flex line and I am 100 % happy with the line!

For the second part, we took the Norwegian Pride of America cruise through the Hawaiian Islands. We started out from Honolulu and went onwards to Kona, Hilo, Maui, and Kaui. My favorite is Kaui- such a beautiful green island. I will be writing a review on CruiseCritic for those that are interested. I did add my review from last week to the Aulani Disney resort if you want to go back and see more. I hope you like my pictures this week from beautiful Hawaii!

Dealing with Drug Representatives for medicine/dental! - The Mommyhood Chronicles - Product Reviews, Giveaways and Everything Mommy!

Being a dentist, I have been exposed to so many wonderful drug representatives over the years. When I was in Dental School, drug representatives started meeting with us to go over future medicines for the dental field. It was new and exciting when they told us about all the new drugs that have been coming on the market and being researched daily. I had a basis about the pharmacology, and knew some of the terminology such as, Particle Characterization and Suspensions, but I really did not know just how much research was done to assure that we medical professionals receive the very best drugs to do our patients right. When it comes down to it, we put our full trust in our dental representatives, who work hand in hand with the very best drug manufacturers.

Drug manufactures create the best drugs for our future. When we get sick, the most sought after remedy is drugs. If we did not have drug manufacturers, none of the new medicines would ever get put on the market. The end result would be catastrophic. However, most people do not know about drug development services. Drug Development Services such as Particle Sciences, provide the backbone to help drug manufactures get their information and support for future drug developments. They provide a full spectrum of drug development services which are aimed at minimizing the time and risks of drug development. They are the true necessities to drug manufactures as they bring expertise in providing efficient formulation, preformulation, analytic, and manufacturing services. They help provide the solution to help drug manufacturers minimize the time and aid in the transition of drugs going from the discover phase into the hand of clinicians.

I really had no idea about drug development services till I did some research on bing. It amazed me how little the normal consumer, let alone a medical professional knows, about what goes on to bring the most efficient medicines to the market. It really intrigued me to find out that the drug manufacturers I work with on an everyday basis, have decades of experience and highly quality services right at their tip of their fingers. Next time, you are looking at the new medicine you are taking, think about how much goes into making that medicine. It really is truly fascinating and I am glad I now know more!

I am a Huggies Ambassador! - The Mommyhood Chronicles - Product Reviews, Giveaways and Everything Mommy!

I am so proud and honored to be a Huggies Ambassador. Over the next few months, I will be bringing my readers new Huggies product recommendations, including the Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers and Huggies improved wipes. I was so honored to be selected but even more honored to be representing a diaper company that I truly think is the best. When Hayley was just a small baby, we had the option of purchasing so many diapers on the market. It truly was overwhelming. On the recommendation of some of my mom friends, we decided to go with the Huggies brand. Now a mom of 3.5 year-old Hayley and 13 month-old Zane, I still am a faithful Huggies user! I started out with this brand and will end our diaper days (no time soon) with Huggies. I will admit I have used other brands here and there to just test out, and none lived up to the Huggies brand. Huggies is a truly parent-trusted brand name that I love!

We recently tried out the new and improved Huggies Snug and Dry Diapers. Huggies went out of their way to make improvements to the Snug and Dry Diapers, to assure that both mom and baby were happy. The end result is excellent. The new and improved Huggies Snug and Dry Diapers stands up to the true test of staying dry.

Zane is a big wetter- he pees a million times a day and when I tried another brand, he was having tremendous accidents. He was peeing through his clothes and having some major blowouts. You have all been there – you know the huge blowouts that us moms love so much! When I switched him to the Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, I hardly saw any blowouts. And guess what – he was actually able to wear the diaper more than two or three hours at a time. I was going through at least 8 diapers a day prior to our switch to the Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. That is a whole lot of diapers and a whole lot of unneeded expenses. With the new and improved Huggies diapers, I only need to do a diaper change several times a day and we have not had one pee accident. That’s right- I actually haven’t had to switch his outfit from an unnecessary accident.

I am actually able to enjoy him being dry. Why you might ask? Well, I am a big baby wearer and he has been known to fall asleep in my Ergo when we take long walks. I ended up feeling him pee through his diapers in his sleep and I ended up getting soaked- NOT FUN! When I switched to the new Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, I haven’t had any problems with wet anymore. I am in love with these diapers!

Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers now feature improved Leak Lock to pull wetness in and lock it away, protecting both parents and babies from leaks. Combine that with the SnugFit waistband and the grin tabs for a secure fit, and you have a truly excellent diaper with long-lasting protection through the days. When we put this diaper on Zane for the first time, I noticed how excellent it fit him. I love the elastic fit that made it easy to secure my little guy in. He seemed very happy with it and Mom/Dad are even more happy with the ease of putting the diaper on. Dad also doesn’t mind changing diapers now that Zane’s bowel movements stay inside the diaper and Dad doesn’t have to deal with a poop/pee-pee explosion!

Have you tried the new and improved Huggies Snug & Dry diapers? If not, what are you waiting for? You will be so happy you did! You can learn all about their fabulous products on their Huggies website and on their Huggies Facebook page/twitter page.

Along with clothes, you can shop for toys and decor. Rattles, markers, fingerpaints, puzzles- you name it, and they have it! You can even go shopping for a full bedding set on Small Concept!

What I particularly love about this site, aside from the gorgeous clothes, is the ability to shop by price. Sometimes, I want to purchase a gift and I don’t want to go above a certain price range. At Small Concept, I can easily do this. One can also shop by color! How awesome is that!

For the review, I choose the Little Mass Summer dress for Hayley and the Wes and Willy Patriot Navy Swim Trunks.

We loved the Little Mass dress. It was so comfortable and made Hayley feel like a princess twirling in it! You can use the dress for regular wear or for a fancier occasion. I love the diversity of the dress! It is a heavy crochet lined dress that is simply beautiful. The Wes and Willy Patriot Navy Swim trunks also made a great fashion statement for summer time wear! Zane looks so adorable in his new swimming trunks and I can’t wait to have him wear it once summer starts! It has an elastic waist with draw-string for additional comfort!

Tommee Tippee Explorer Sippy Cups Review-Giveaway! - The Mommyhood Chronicles - Product Reviews, Giveaways and Everything Mommy!

We are so close to being done with bottles! Zane has now officially transitioned to only one morning and one evening bottle. This is a huge improvement over the seven bottles he was taking a little over three weeks ago. When I was beginning to start the transformation process, I went to Babies R’ Us and was looking around for the best sippy cups. As you can imagine, with a three year old as well, I went through tons of sippy cups. However, all of the ones we have tucked away in our cupboard leak, and leak bad! I needed to search for the perfect sippy cup that would not make a mess when a 13 month-old starts drinking out of it, as well as for my three year-old, who is no where near ready for a big girl cup. Where do I start?

It could have not come at a more convenient time, when Mom Central invited me to participate in the Tommee Tippee Explorer Sippy Cup review program. I heard about the Tommee Tippee brand before but never purchased their products before, so I was intrigued! My friends swear by their bottle and sippy cups, so I had to find out for myself. I had two excellent reviewers to do the job- Zane and Hayley! When we first got the package, the packaging said the sippy cups were truly spill-proof drinking cups. How could this be possible? I never witnessed a truly spill-proof cup in the three years since I had Hayley. Could it really be spill-proof?

(Hayley- Please let me have your Tommee Tippee Sippy Cup! Thanks Sis!)

Well, the answer is an outstanding YES!!! While Hayley is older and could probably control the leakage in cups, my little guy Zane is not as coordinated. I was hesitant to start him with this sippy cup because it says 24 months and up, but he excelled in using it! After we received the first package to review, I went out and bought four more sippy cups. Why you might ask? Well, the answer is there is no more mess when the kids drink. You have to try these yourselves- there is absolutely no leakage when your kids drink from them! They contain a super sensitive active sensor valve that is truly non-spill yet allows liquid to flow on demand!

The Tommee Tippee Sippy Cups have a unique drinking spout for kids on the go and advanced flo-technology for easy drinking. The magic is in the liquid flow, ensuring the domes are inserted into the retainer which makes drinking very simple. They are also insulated so it will keep your kids’ drinks cooler even in the hotter climate temperatures. Of course, being a mom, I make sure any products that go near my kids mouthes are BPA free and these cups adhere to this. Lastly, they support natural oral development- which is huge, because as most of you know, I am also a kids dentist! I need to recommend products that support dental growth in little ones!

We currently used the toss and throw sippy cups before switching to the Tommee Tippee Sippy Cups. There really is no comparison. The toss and throw are good to throw in your diaper bag, but with the Tommee, I really had no problem fitting them in my diaper bag. While I talked about how I love that these don’t leak, I also love the fact that they have the screw on lids over the traditional pop on/off lids. This adds to Zane or Hayley not making a mess, because you know young kids can be known to figure out how to take off the pop on/off lids and make a huge mess! The Tommee Tippee Sippy Cups have a unique form that makes gripping easy and extremely functional as well! And an added plus- everything is dishwasher safe!

Hayley and Zane are both loving their sippy cups.

They cups are so easy for them to drink out of and I don’t need to hover over them making sure they don’t make a mess all over my floor! I used to follow the kids around everytime they drank from a sippy and it was a big pain. With the Tommee Tippee Sippy Cups, I don’t need to do that anyone! The kids love having the independence at mealtimes which is important to child development. Zane really transitioned fantastically to the Tommee Tippee. It is so easy for him to drink from and I love the fact that it has a super soft sippy spout, just in case he decided to take a fall while he is drinking.

Tommee Tippee gets an A + from me! If you are looking for a brand of sippy cups, look no further than Tommee Tippee.

Buy it: Tommee Tippee Explorer Sippy Cups are sold at Target Stores Nationwide and on Target.com.

I didn’t either… - The Mommyhood Chronicles - Product Reviews, Giveaways and Everything Mommy!

The other day I received a phone call that left me bewildered. It was a sales call and the caller had asked me if I was interested in SIP services offered by a local provider. I politely declined and told the caller this was something I would have to discuss with my husband. Not wanting to seem rude I asked him to call back at a later date. The truth is I had no idea whatsoever what he was talking about. What is SIP and what did he mean when he referred to SIP trunking?! Honestly I felt like he had just called me up and spoken a different language. The whole thing about asking my husband was a ruse, and one I use often with sales calls. How could anyone ask me to make such an important decision without me first consulting my husband after all? The truth is, I needed to find out what this guy was talking about before I could even find out what he was offering me. Of course I went straight to my computer and jumped on Google to find out more.

It turns out that National SIP Trunking or Session Initiation Protocol, is a service referred as unified voice data and consists of services that bundle your voice, data and Internet services through an Internet Protocol connection, usually referred to as the IP connection. Used mostly by small companies, this consolidation can save monthly fees on each utility while boosting the capacity of your network. If you have never hear of VoIP before it is the abbreviation for Voice over Internet Protocol), and you are not alone. I had never been exposed to terms like SIP and VoIP until I received that phone call, and I am grateful he called not only because we just may end up saving money by combining our services in this way, but because also because it exposed me to new technology I would have otherwise not known about. I certainly feel the shift from typical landline telephone services to wireless such as mobile phones as the primary phone or via the Internet, which is what the SIP, services are all about. In any case when he calls back, as I asked him to do, I will be able to make a much more educated decision about the specific product that he is offering. Then I can consult with my husband about it.

The Gund version of Boo is 8 inches tall, huggly soft, and totally CUTE!! When we first got Boo, my daughter instantly went around telling everyone that Boo was her new friend and she slept with him every night. We decided to give Boo to her grandma for Mom’s Day but since she loved Boo so much, I told her, I would purchase another Boo for her. We love dogs here and the toy Gund company Boo made the plushed animal look exactly like the real Boo. It is truly uncanny!

When Hayley first started asking for it a few months back, I was like, “What do you want to watch?” I heard of the Nick Jr. shows such as Dora, Diego, YGG, but Peppa Pig- that was new to me. I then went to do some research on it and learned that it is a truly awesome kids show for those aged 2-6. I then told her that she can go along and watch Peppa Pig, and that was 5 months ago. Today, she watches at least 5 episodes of Peppa a week.

About a month ago, Peppa Pig was playing at our local Kidtoons movie theatre. I packed up Zane and Hayley, and off we went to see Peppa on the big screen. The kids loved it so much that we had to return the next day to watch Peppa again. They even got to receive some Peppa books to take home. It was truly a fantastic day.

We were elated when we had a chance to review the new Peppa Pig: Muddy Puddles and other stories DVD. This DVD was a blogger preview of show, Peppa Pig, that airs on Nick Jr. If you are not familiar with Peppa, she is a lovable, cheeky little piggy who lives with her younger brother George (although Hayley pronounces the name GORGE), Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig. Peppa loves plain games, dressing up, visiting places and making new friends, but her absolutely favorite thing is jumping up and down in muddy puddles. This DVD is broken up into 10 episodes including Muddy Puddles, Mr. Dinosaur is Lost, Polly Parrot, Best Friend, Hide and Seek, The Playgroup, Mummy Pig at Work, Camping, Gardening, and Bicycles. It also includes 2 Bonus Episodes including The New Car Show and Snow.

The run time of Peppa Pig is 60 minutes which means each episode is 5 minutes long. I love this because if I am taking a quick shower and want to just put on one episode, I can do this quite easily. Usually she throws a fit because she wants to watch the next one as well, but I can definitely limit how many episodes she can watch in a day. All of the stories are also very easy to understand. My daughter, who is 3.5, has no problem following along! The stories revolve around occurrences that happen to a family in their everyday lives. I love the fact that the episodes revolve around love, family, friendship, and fun! I have no problem with her watching Peppa Pig because it really does bring out the best in my daughter and I love the morals taught! It is also fun to see the different themes to each show such as going to the playground, playing in puddles, having playdates, and riding bikes.

Peppa Pig airs on Nick Jr from 12-12:20 pm Monday-Friday and 2-2:30 on Saturday and Sunday.
