If you have kids and they like to watch their own television shows geared totally for them, you really need not look farther than Netflix. Back in my college days, before I had kids, I was an avid Netflix fan and still to this day, remain one! I am pretty sure I am going on my 10th year of being a Netflix subscriber. Now that I have Hayley and Zane though, Netflix has taken a little turn for me, because most of the utilizing of Netflix is done by them! They have access to some of their all time favorite kids shows that they could watch whenever and/or wherever they want!

Seriously, just about everyone of my kids favorite shows are available in the ‘Just for Kids’ section including Sesame Street, Jake and The Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Little Pony, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, Angelina Ballerina, Curious George, and more! Whenever they put one of their shows on using Netflix, they are beyond estatic.

I have relied on Netflix in more instances than I can count on my hand. Most of the times when I am cooking and cleaning up dinner, I allow Hayley and Zane to pick our two of their favorite kids shows on Netflix, to watch for an hour or so. At the end, I join them so we have family cuddle times with all our favorite shows playing.

One of my favorite aspects of Netflix is the fact that my kids can watch all of their favorite TV shows and movies anytime they want and it is available on hundreds of devices. For instance, Hayley and Zane can watch the Netflix shows streaming through the computer or they can also watch via the Netflix app on my iPhone or iPad. This is a huge plus for me because sometimes I just want some piece and quiet to myself. All I have to do is give Hayley and Zane, my iPhone or iPad, and they can go to town watching all of their favorite shows!

Streaming the shows for them is so easy! All I had to do was download the free app on iPad  (I also have it on my iPhone), click on the Netflix app on any gaming device and I am all set to go! If I want to stream it live right through Netflix.com for them to watch, this is available too and extrememly easy to do!

I also love that all content on Netflix is selected with the help from Common Sense Media so I can see all the ratings, reviews, and information before we start to watch our favorite show. All of the kids section is completely family appropriate for children 2-12 , so I never have to worry about any show they pick from the ‘Just for Kid’s section. Watching Netflix makes for happy kids, which in turn makes for a happy mommy/daddy!

If you have not tried Netflix yet and you have not seen the vast array of fantastic kids shows, I highly suggest you do! Netflix is much cheaper than having home cable and the choices are virtually endless. Also, your kids never have to worry about commercials stopping them from watching, nor do you have to worry about them seeing something on TV, that might be inappropriate for them!

I am completely envious with green when I see a status on facebook that their cleaning lady or man comes to clean the house once a week. We do have a cleaning person, but they come once a month, which is hardly enough! I need someone who will come on a regular basis, but it is very expensive.

Most of the cleaning is done by my husband and I right now. We split up duties on cleaning our house. I am usually in charge of buying the cleaning products and antiseptic, and he is in charge of buying the towels and such, through his office. He buys most of the bulk supplies such as paper towels through his office or through Walmart, depending on the better deal he finds through the week.

As for the  actual cleaning, I take care of mostly the dishes and laundry, and he takes care of the  physical cleaning such as mopping the floors, dusting, and mirror cleaning. He hates doing dishes and I hate mopping, so it is a very good trade-off. We usually allot one morning on the weekend for a few hours before the kids get up, to do our cleaning. It seems to work out well and we have a nice schedule going for us.

However, I am still dreaming of the time when we could get a cleaning lady on a regular basis. Someone who will come and make sure the whole house is tidy, neat, and clean weekly. It is on my wish list to be able to do this, but for now, my husband and I will compromise and clean the house together. We do have fun though doing this chore together- we crank the music and start cleaning!

In three days, we will embark on our annual Memorial Day road trip to visit my parents in New Jersey. As much as I love to visit them, taking two kids that are 4 and under on a car ride that is around 5 hours long is HARD! We can be stuck in traffic for hours and there is really nothing we could do. I always bring along activities such as videos for them to play with and I make sure to bring along LOTS OF SNACKS! I know if I am prepared, my kids will look like this during the 5 hour trip instead of crying the whole time:

For most of my food shopping, as well as buying most of the snacks and drinks for our Memorial Day road trip, I turn to Stop & Shop. I have two Stop & Shop stores within a seven mile radius, and I always find the best deals on all of their products compared to other supermarkets in my area. I tend to visit Stop & Shop at least biweekly. Another HUGE advantage of shopping there is they have a truly remarkable gas rewards program.

With the gas rewards program, you basically earn one point for every dollar you spend with your Stop & Shop card. When you earn 100 points, you will save $.10 cents per gallon. Each extra 100 points earned, will allow you to accumulate more money off each gallon of gas. For example- 200 points will save you $.20 cents per gallon, 300 points will save you you $.30 cents per gallon, and 400 points will save you $.40 cents at participating Shell stations. With gas being at its all time high, it is a huge benefit to be able to save money simply by shopping my regular groceries at Stop & Shop.

Since Hayley is the older one of my two and she likes to pick out her own snacks for our big road trip coming up for Memorial Day weekend, she naturally was my shopping partner in crime when we went to Stop & Shop. Before I went though, I researched via their circular the upcoming sales so I had some idea what to buy.

When we got there, I immediately noticed that they had some great savings on so many snacks that would make excellent choices for our road trip. For instance in the front of Stop & Shop they had end caps for Stop & Shop Thin Mints. Thin Mints are one of the only cookies Zane can eat because he has food allergies, so we stocked up on a couple of boxes in our cart. They were on sale for 2 for $5, and I knew this would be an easy snack to give both of them in the car.

Our next snack we picked up was Goldfish. They had a great deal for 10 individual boxes of Goldfish for only $10! I loved that they can each have their own container and not have to make a mess trying to get their hands in the mega container we have at home. These would make great snacks for the car and they are portable, which is a huge plus.

When I went through the circular before I went, I noticed that they had a great deal where if you purchase 7 items off of their promotion list, you would receive 300 GAS POINTS!! Most of the 7 items were for great snack choices that I could bring with me on the upcoming road trip. I headed down the aisles and picked up 2 packs of Fiber One Bars (Mom needs snack too), 3 packs of the Squeeze’ems Applesauce pouches (which are great since they don’t need to be refrigerated), and 2 packs of the Chex Mix. For these 7 items purchased, I will instantly score 300 gas points, which means $.30 cents off of each gallon of gas. I need all the savings I could for the travel to New Jersey.

We also picked up Hayley and Zane’s favorite graham crackers, Honey Maid, which were on sale for 3 for $5 and some Juicy-Juices, which were also reduced in price. Finally, I picked up some Gatorade for myself since they were only $1 for the big bottle.

I was then ready to check out! I was excited because I got so many wonderful snacks that will keep my kids happy for hours in the car. Believe me, snacks are the way to go when you go on a road trip. As I like to say, “Never leave home without snacks.”

When the cashier rang me up using my Stop & Shop card, he told me I accumulated close to 400 points for this shopping trip alone, which can be used for reductions for my gas. I usually use my points right away since I have to fill up my car every week, but you can accumulate your points if you like (if you have only 100, 200, or 300) until you reach 200 points.

Since our road trip for Memorial day is coming up, I headed to our nearby Shell station, which is the primary gas station associated with the Stop & Shop Gas Rewards Program. To redeem your points, simply put in the Stop & Shop card (or you can manually type in your card number too). You will then be shown how many cents off each gallon you will receive. I had 400 points, so I earned $.40 cents off each gallon! Yes, I did the happy dance pumping my gas!

We definitely are all ready for our road trip thanks to Stop & Shop and their wonderful gas program! You can not beat their variety of snack choices, as well as the great prices, promotions, and deals you will find each time you visit Stop & Shop.

Can I just tell you how excited I am for Beauty and the Beast? I saw it twice before and it is magical! However, nothing will be as magical as watching my four year old enjoy it right before her own eyes! This is a true Broadway production aimed in every sense of the word, for young and old alike!

The original creators of the Broadway production have reunited for this new touring production! The play is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West, with Costume Design by Ann Hould-Ward (Tony Award® winner for her work on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast), Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Scenic Design by Stanley A. Meyer, Sound Design by John Petrafesa Jr., and Music Supervision by Michael Kosarin.

Director Rob Roth says, “It has been wonderful to bring the entire original design team back together to work on this new production of Beauty and the Beast. As a director, it is rare to have the opportunity to revisit your work fifteen years later. Hopefully I’ve grown and developed as an artist, along with my collaborators, and we can bring 15 years of experience to this new production. We have remained very close as a team over the years of producing the show around the world, and it has been so much fun getting together to re-explore and re-invent the show for this new NETworks tour.  The theme of ‘Beauty’ is about seeing past the exterior into the heart of someone, and this is reflected in the design for the show, which is about transparency and layers, seeing past one thing and into another.”

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress.  If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has become an international sensation that has played to over 35 million people worldwide in 21 countries.

The performance schedule in Providence for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is Friday, May 31 at 7:30P; Saturday, June 1 at 2P & 8P; and Sunday, June 2 at 1P & 6:30P.

Last week. we went up to Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Allergy Clinic for Zane’s two year appointment. When we got there, I was terrified because Zane is not one to sit still, let alone sit still for blood and skin testings. Add to that, he did not nap at all that day,  and I knew it was going to be a very long day.

While Zane was very restless, he did very good! At the completion of the skin testing, we got some great news- he is no longer allergic to eggs. While this might not seem like a big deal to some, to a parent who has kids with severe food allergies, this was simply amazing. He can now eat eggs of any types and in all baked goods. YAH!!

Unfortunately, he still has a severe peanut allergy and an allergy to tree nuts. This allergy can be very tricky because so many food items can’t be guaranteed, that they are not made in a peanut factory. I have to check each and every label before I give it to him. While it is a lot of work, I am definitely getting used to it after a year of doing it. Also, I am grateful that besides his food allergies, he is a very happy (yet rambunctious) and healthy 2 year old.

I am glad we got some great news at the allergist! They do not think his peanut allergies will ever go away, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Barney and Friends are back with the all new DVD: Play With Barney.  In this DVD, they demonstrate all the benefits of play with their signature style of imagination, music, and laughs!  Baby Bop, BJ, and Riff get practice being leaders and trying new sports like baseball and basketball.  Everyone also learns that taking turns is important, along with following the rules, practicing, and cleaning up. It also shows it is more fun to do all of this as a team!

Zane is a HUGE Barney fan and this DVD did not fail to disappoint. It included 4 episodes titled Let’s Play Games, Playing Games, Riff to the Rescue, and For the Fun of It. It also had some great bonus features including the Mary had a little lamb karaoke music video which was Zane’s favorite.

The DVD was adorable and teaches kids important lessons about sharing and cleaning up! I love when a DVD is not only fun to watch but also educational. It also has the adorable Clean Up song which Zane now knows by heart! I highly recommend Play With Barney for all those Barney fans!
