Kate Nash has been quiet recently – one Record Store Day release aside – but work is afoot on her third LP and this summer she’ll be going to the Boileroom in Guildford to preview this new material. Tickets for her show on the 29th June will go onsale this Friday at 9am and are priced at £15. I wouldn’t be surprised if this sells out quickly so act fast is my word of advice.

Kate Bush – Foundations:

One of 2010′s underrated gems was Forget by Twin Shadow. The good news those for the fellow listeners that enjoyed his debut is that a follow-up called Confess is out on the 9th July. Five Seconds is the first taste of that new album and it remains just as funky as his early work but with a few tweaks in the instrumentation such as acoustic guitar.

What to say about Jack White‘s solo album? Well, it’s definitely the best thing he’s done in any project since the 2005 White Stripes effort Get Behind Me Satan. This is the sound of someone who seems to have recaptured the magic that he lost slightly when playing in The Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. It also has some of the big and energetic qualities of The White Stripes, who remain a highly important band when it comes to my musical upbringing. What We Saw From The Cheap Seats already has had a couple of songs previewed and now you can Small Town Moon to that list. Those who took a while to like All The Rowboats this will feel like more familiar and accessible territory but still has enough interesting things in it to make this feel a bit more than run-of-the-mill Regina Spektor.

It’s just under a month now until that new Sigur Rós album and yesterday morning saw the first play of their new single from it on 6music. Varúð has some of the familiar hallmarks of their work. There are some gorgeous strings and a choir and, unlike the other two new songs we’ve heard thus far, packs a real punch at the end.
