At the heart of Novelas+ is one thing: unforgettable storytelling. From dangerous secrets and complicated romances to inspiring comebacks and long-awaited revenge, its lineup offers something for every telenovela lover.

Here are four shows that will give you a reason to fall in love with Novelas+

1. Sins and Roses: For the Love That Rises from Betrayal | Weekdays at 3 pm

Dark, emotional and addictive, Sins and Roses pulls you into a world where secrets destroy lives and love grows in unexpected places. When Serhat’s seemingly perfect life crumbles after a devastating revelation and tragedy strikes, Zeynep enters his world, bringing passion, mystery and a connection neither of them can ignore. This is a story where trust is fragile, desire is dangerous and nothing is ever quite what it seems.

2. Doménica Montero: For the Strength to Rise Again | Weekdays at 4 pm

If you love powerful female leads and compelling redemption stories, this one is for you. Doménica Montero follows a woman who is humiliated, betrayed and abandoned at the altar, only to retreat, rebuild and rediscover her strength. Just as she opens her heart again, the past returns to test her. Expect intense emotions, complicated love and a heroine who refuses to stay broken.

3. Be My Sunshine: For the Love That Changes Everything | Weekdays at 5 pm

Lighter in tone but just as emotional, Be My Sunshine delivers a beautiful, slow-burning romance set against a dreamy island backdrop. Haziran arrives with ambition and a plan, but meeting Poyraz changes everything. When her actions threaten his world, love becomes complicated, forcing them both to grow, forgive and fight for a shared future. It is a story about second chances, personal transformation and a love worth rebuilding.

4. Avenida Brasil: For the Revenge You’ll Never Forget | Weekdays at 6 pm

No telenovela lineup is complete without an unforgettable revenge story, and Avenida Brasil delivers exactly that. After being betrayed and abandoned as a child, Nina returns years later with one goal: to make those responsible pay. But in a world filled with secrets, shifting loyalties and hidden identities, her carefully constructed plan soon becomes more complicated than she imagined.

With four stories and four unforgettable emotional journeys, Novelas+ brings romance, betrayal, resilience and revenge together in one destination. Whether you are looking for a new obsession or simply want a story that keeps you coming back every weekday, this lineup has you covered.

Catch Sins and Roses at 3 pm, Doménica Montero at 4 pm, Be My Sunshine at 5 pm and Avenida Brasil at 6 pm, every weekday on Novelas+, DStv Channel 133 and GOtv Channel 34. You can also watch live wherever you are on the DStv Stream app.

The MTN Foundation has opened applications for the 2026 MUSON Music Scholars Programme as its partnership with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) marks 20 years.

Since 2006, the partnership has enabled more than 500 talented young Nigerians to access professional music education at the MUSON School of Music. Through fully funded scholarships, the programme has helped remove financial barriers to professional training while nurturing musicians and contributing to the development of Nigeria’s creative industry. The scholarship programme provides successful applicants with support covering tuition, books, and approved course-related expenses for the duration of their studies. Young Nigerians who meet the admission requirements of the MUSON School of Music and demonstrate a passion and aptitude for music are invited to apply.

Reflecting on the 20-year partnership, Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, said the milestone demonstrates the value of sustained investment in developing Nigeria’s creative talent.

“Twenty years is more than a milestone for us. It is evidence of what sustained investment in talent can achieve. When MTN Foundation and MUSON began this partnership in 2006, our ambition was to help ensure that talented young Nigerians were not prevented from pursuing professional music education because they lacked access or financial support.

“More than 500 young Nigerians have since benefited from the programme, receiving the training and opportunities to develop their talent and pursue careers in music. As we mark 20 years of this partnership, our focus is also on the future and the next generation of musicians who will shape Nigeria’s creative landscape. We remain committed to creating opportunities for them to learn, grow, and realise their potential.”

Over the past two decades, the MTN Foundation MUSON Music Scholars Programme has remained an important part of the Foundation’s investment in education and youth development. Beyond providing access to professional music education, the programme equips scholars with the technical skills, discipline, and training required to pursue sustainable careers in the music industry.

The 20-year milestone also reflects the longevity of the partnership between MTN Foundation and MUSON and their shared commitment to developing Nigeria’s music ecosystem through sustained investment in talent. As Nigeria’s creative industry continues to gain global recognition, professional training remains critical to building the pipeline of musicians and other professionals required to sustain its growth.

Applicants are encouraged to review the eligibility and admission requirements carefully and submit all required documents before the application deadline.Interested applicants can apply by visiting https://www.mtn.ng/foundation/muson-2026/.
What Network, the Free-to-Air broadcast platform of What Media Group (WMG), today confirmed a major expansion of its media rights, extending its footprint across Sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa. The move puts live coverage of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow directly into the hands of audiences across the region, streaming free on What.tv.

The expansion marks one of the most significant rights moves by an African-owned broadcaster this year, positioning What Network as the go-to destination for fans who have historically had to rely on international broadcasters, delayed re-airs, or paid satellite packages to follow major global sporting events.

What.tv, accessible via web, will carry live coverage of the Commonwealth Games throughout the event, with no subscription required. The platform’s expansion comes as What Media Group continues to scale its broadcast infrastructure across multiple African markets, building on its existing status as the Official Free-to-Air Broadcaster for the Commonwealth Games 2026.

“Africa deserves a front-row seat to global sports,” said ChiChi Nwoko, CEO of What Media Group. “This expansion means millions more Africans can watch the Commonwealth Games live, on a platform built by us, for us.”

The rights expansion does not stand alone. It arrives alongside a growing slate of original programming from What Network, including the family entertainment format Kids Say The Darndest Things and the upcoming pan-African fashion competition Project Runway Africa, both signaling the platform’s ambition to be more than a sports broadcaster, but a full-spectrum home for African audiences.

Streaming is available now at What.tv.

BTS has announced that it will not submit its music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards, set to take place on Feb. 7, 2027, marking a surprising decision from one of the world’s most celebrated music acts.

On Wednesday, all seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook—shared an identical statement across their individual Instagram accounts, explaining the group’s choice.

“We have decided not to submit for Grammy consideration this year. We hope our music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language. We thank ARMY and everyone who has always stood by us.”

The announcement comes just over a month after the Recording Academy introduced a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. According to the Academy, the award recognizes “artistic excellence in Asian pop music performances originating from or widely recognized within Asian markets, including but not limited to K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, with meaningful use of one or more Asian languages.”

The Recording Academy has not yet commented on BTS’ decision.

BTS has received 5 Grammy nominations throughout its career, including nods for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video, but the group has yet to secure its first Grammy win. Since 2019, all seven members have also served as voting members of the Recording Academy.

Expectations had been high that 2027 could finally deliver the group’s long-awaited Grammy victory. Earlier this year, BTS returned with its fifth studio album, “Arirang,” released in March following the completion of all members’ mandatory military service. The album became a global success, topping Billboard’s albums and singles charts while earning widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike.

The group is also in the midst of its highly successful “World Tour Arirang.” After wrapping up the European leg with a series of performances in Paris, BTS made history by appearing at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final Halftime Show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Sharing the stage with Madonna, Shakira and Justin Bieber, the septet delivered an electrifying performance of their hit single “Dynamite” during the 11-minute spectacle—the first halftime show ever staged during a FIFA World Cup final in the tournament’s 96-year history.

Dressed in custom red tour outfits featuring each member’s name and the number seven, BTS received one of the night’s loudest ovations. The group is now preparing to resume the North American leg of the tour on Aug. 1, returning to MetLife Stadium as fans eagerly await the next chapter in their record-breaking comeback.

The song is a perfect match for the movie because its message reflects the story. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives follows Baba Segi, a man with four wives whose secrets slowly turn his life upside down. The famous line, “Na Woman Finish My Papa,” jokingly suggests that a woman caused a man’s downfall. In the film, Baba Segi’s wives are at the centre of the drama, making the song perfectly fitting for the story as it helps tell the story better.

The song will also be part of the film’s soundtrack, and that is an important part of any movie. A good soundtrack helps audiences connect with the story, creates emotion and makes memorable scenes even more powerful. Some songs become so closely linked to a film that people remember the music just as much as the movie itself. The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives could do the same for “Na Woman Finish My Papa,” introducing the song to a whole new generation.

The decision is also important for Nigerian pop culture. “Na Woman Finish My Papa” resonates with many listeners because of its humorous yet relatable take on the challenges of relationships. Its memorable lyrics and playful storytelling capture everyday experiences in a way that continues to connect with audiences and spark conversations. By featuring the song in a major Nollywood film, audiences can experience the familiar sound alongside a compelling Nigerian story that reflects the themes and emotions at the heart of the movie.

Music and film have always gone hand in hand. When a song is used in a movie, it often finds a new audience and takes on a new meaning. That’s exactly what is happening here. “Na Woman Finish My Papa” is no longer just a popular song; it is now part of the story of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives.

The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives is based on Lola Shoneyin’s acclaimed 2010 novel. Directed by Daniel Oriahi and produced by Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Films, the movie explores love, family, tradition and the secrets hidden within a polygamous home. It is set to open in cinemas nationwide on December 4, 2026.

A Los Angeles judge has ruled that American musician D4vd will stand trial over the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after prosecutors presented evidence during a five-day preliminary hearing.

The singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawfully mutilating human remains.

Judge Charlaine Olmedo said prosecutors had presented enough evidence for the case to move forward. Burke is due to be formally arraigned on August 31, and his trial is expected to begin within 90 days.

Prosecutors allege Burke stabbed Hernandez after she arrived at his Hollywood home on April 23, 2025. They claim he later dismembered her body and that her remains were found last September inside a Tesla registered to his address.

According to prosecutors, Burke killed the teenager because she had threatened to expose their alleged relationship and ruin his fast-growing music career. During the hearing, prosecutors read text messages Hernandez allegedly sent the day before her death. In the messages, she threatened to tell people about Burke and damage both his career and his life after an argument.

Court records showed that Burke later sent an Uber to pick Hernandez up and take her to his home. Detective Corey Farrell of the Los Angeles Police Department told the court that text messages suggested Burke and Hernandez had attended church with her family. Under questioning from the defense, Farrell also said Hernandez had told Burke she was older than she really was, claiming at different times to be 16 and 18 years old.

Burke’s lawyers argued there is not enough evidence to prove he committed the crime. They said Hernandez’s parents knew about the relationship and had even given written permission for her to travel to London with Burke for a week.

The defense also pointed to text messages showing Burke initially tried to stop Hernandez from coming to his home before eventually agreeing to send her an Uber. His lawyer, Marilyn Bednarski, said Burke continued to express love and care for Hernandez after they broke up.

The defense argued that the medical examiner could not argued this weakened the prosecution’s case. Investigators also said they have not found a third 10-inch Makita chainsaw that prosecutors believe Burke ordered after Hernandez say exactly how two wounds found on Hernandez’s body were caused. They also said there was no surveillance footage proving Burke was at home on the night she died.

During the hearing, prosecutors showed graphic images of Hernandez’s dismembered body. A homicide detective testified that Burke allegedly ordered a body bag, chainsaws, an inflatable pool and a shovel online in the days after her death. Prosecutors believe the items were used to dispose of her body.

However, forensic criminalist Lauren Wallace testified that chainsaws found in Burke’s garage tested negative for blood and were not later tested for DNA. The defense argued this weakened the prosecution’s case. Investigators also said they have not found a third 10-inch Makita chainsaw that prosecutors believe Burke ordered after Hernandez’s death.

After the hearing, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said prosecutors had presented only part of the evidence they plan to use at trial. He also said a decision has not yet been made on whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty if Burke is convicted.

Burke remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Marvel Studios has officially announced that British actor David Jonsson will be the next Black Panther in the upcoming Black Panther 3.

The announcement was made during Marvel Studios’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, where director Ryan Coogler introduced Jonsson as the actor who will play T’Challa II, the son of the late King T’Challa. With Black Panther 3, David Jonsson is taking on one of Marvel’s most iconic roles. Rather than replacing Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, Marvel is continuing the story through his son, giving fans a new hero while honoring the legacy of the original Black Panther.

This is the biggest role of Jonsson’s career and marks a new chapter for the Black Panther franchise.

The last Black Panther movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), honored the late Chadwick Boseman, who played King T’Challa in Black Panther (2018) and several other Marvel movies. Boseman died in 2020 after a private battle with colon cancer.

Instead of replacing Boseman’s character, Marvel continued the story by focusing on Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, who became the new Black Panther after her brother’s death.

At the end of the movie, Nakia revealed that she and T’Challa had a young son named Toussaint, whose Wakandan name is T’Challa II. David Jonsson will now play the adult version of that character in Black Panther 3. Marvel has confirmed that Black Panther 3 will be released in theaters on December 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler is returning as director, and the story is expected to follow T’Challa II as he steps into his father’s legacy and becomes Wakanda’s newest protector.

Before landing this major Marvel role, David Jonsson built a strong career with impressive performances in both movies and television.

By the time viewers see the BBNaija house on launch night, months of planning, engineering, and construction have culminated in a purpose-built environment designed to support a multi-week show. This season’s process began in November 2025, nearly nine months before its July 26th 2026 premiere.

To understand the BBNaija house, you have to look past the finished set and into the timeline behind it. The process begins with concept development and design, followed by months of procurement, sourcing, and planning before construction crews move in. From bare structure to camera-ready set, the physical transformation takes just two months.

The result is a custom BBNaija house in Lagos equipped with 52 robotic pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, seven handheld cameras, 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades and 19 speakers, all working together to capture every conversation and movement around the clock. Constructed adjacent to the live television studio, which houses seven hand-held cameras, the space is flexible enough to accommodate over 20 housemates for the period while seamlessly morphing to capture every moment of the show.

What’s easy to miss watching BBNaija from home is how much the house itself changes year to year. The house that we have now is fundamentally different from the house that we’ve had in the last three years. A major turning point came in 2024, when the production team moved the staircase to the centre of the living room and relocated the bedrooms upstairs, reshaping how housemates move through and are seen within the space.

It’s a level of design ambition that goes well beyond aesthetics. Every reconfiguration is built around camera coverage, sightlines, and how housemates naturally gather and interact, the architectural equivalent of a director blocking a scene, except the “actors” never leave the set.

Perhaps most remarkable is that the entire project is delivered locally. From civil engineering and electrical works to interior decoration and finishing, every aspect of the house is executed in Nigeria using local expertise. That commitment supports more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs each season, spanning carpenters, electricians, decorators, civil engineers and a wide range of specialist trades.

The impact extends well beyond construction. Once the house is handed over, hundreds more professionals take over—from production crews and camera operators to the ninjas who facilitate tasks, master control room (MCR) teams, housekeeping staff, caterers and technical support personnel who keep the production running around the clock.

For a franchise often defined by its drama, rivalries and ratings, the Big Brother Naija house tells another story entirely. Before the cameras start rolling each season, a full-scale, homegrown production ecosystem dismantles, redesigns and rebuilds the house from the ground up, ready for a new cast of housemates to make it their own.

BBNaija returns for its highly anticipated Season 11 tonight, 26 July 2026. The launch show airs from 7:00 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family, with the 24-hour live show available on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 49. Fans can also catch all the action live via DStv Stream and GOtv Stream.

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a 2023 nightclub altercation in London, avoiding a trial on more serious charges. The 37-year-old singer entered the guilty plea on Friday at Southwark Crown Court after the charge was read to him, simply responding, “Guilty,” while appearing in court dressed in a beige suit and dark brown tie. As part of the plea, prosecutors confirmed that charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon involving a bottle, which Brown had previously denied, will be formally dropped at a later date.

The case stems from an incident at Tape, an exclusive private members’ club in London’s Hanover Square, on February 19, 2023, during Brown’s UK tour. Prosecutors alleged that a man was struck with a bottle before being chased and assaulted during the confrontation. The alleged victim, who was also charged in connection with the incident, pleaded guilty to affray and is expected to be sentenced alongside Brown. The singer, who was arrested in May 2025 after arriving in the UK by private jet and spent nearly a week in custody before securing £5 million ($6.7 million) bail, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 26.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Judge Tony Baumgartner allowed Brown to continue his scheduled world tour, which kicked off in Amsterdam in June. Rising to international fame with chart-topping hits such as “Run It!”, “Forever,” “With You,” “No Air“ with Jordin Sparks, “Loyal,” and “Under the Influence,” Brown remains one of R&B’s biggest stars. Over the years, however, his successful music career has frequently been overshadowed by legal troubles, including his widely publicized 2009 assault case involving singer Rihanna and other run-ins with the law.
