International bloggers have immediately got stuck into the ad, with ‘Copyranter’ labeling it the "most overtly blow-jobby ad I’ve ever seen" and ‘Gawker’ writing that the "only thing this ad is missing is the disclaimer that you’ll actually get fewer blowjobs if you eat these sandwiches, but perhaps that’s the ‘genius’ of advertising that we simpletons on the outside just don’t get."

American bloggers were quick to heap the blame on Crispin Porter and Bogusky, Burger King Corporation’s US agency of record, though news quickly emerged that the advertisement is only running to support a limited promotion in the Singapore market and was produced by Singapore agency Religion.

So what happens when your employee is caught doing a threesome with his niece, or one of your wards just happened to be sodomized by his cellmates, or maybe the nice garyng1974 just posted one of his famous vids featuring ….. ‘drumroll’ …. your new intern!

Adapted, here’s how you might wanna handle things.

• Bide your time patiently: Even though their scandals are not being actively written up at the moment, they’re both still recent enough that any bit of new information could revive them in a second. Do not raise your head from the bunker too soon, lest you catch a sniper’s bullet; nay, you must wait quietly, calmly, silently, until bigger and more sensational events have pushed your small problems to the bottom of the list of interesting occurrences. Make yourself small and boring. When Michael killed, he’s shipped off to Sicily - if it worked for the Corleones, it’ll work for you. (don’t forget to go for confession though)
• Exact your revenge: Did you know that revenge is best served cold? It is. You have taken the measure of your enemies, stayed quiet, and let public interest in your scandal die out. You should have also had time to figure out who sold you out. Now, months or years later, you may start plotting how to get them back. If you are a wise person, you may choose to simply cut them out of your life, accepting the whole mess as a valuable life lesson. But if you are, at heart, a petty and vindictive person—you will search for some elaborate revenge designed to inflict twice as much pain upon the snitch as they inflicted upon you. This will often generate a new scandal of its own. See step one.

And finally, you have me - the Crotch. I’m the Nether-region, the place where the sun don’t shine. I write about stuff as they are, without fear or censorship - I’ll write about taboo stuff; stuff that might interest you; stuff that might offend you - I don’t give a shit.

I hope to write articles that can be likened to that itch in the balls. It affects a very important area; you really don’t wanna talk about it but wish it’ll go away; but it comes back again and again.

New York Times social media editor Jen Preston has stop tweeting for one month and questions are being raised if the absence is setting a good example for future Social Media Editors.

Is Jen sick or has she taken a leave of absence? Apparently not and that raised more questions.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not some Twitter-Nazi who thinks that everyone should tweet at all, let alone on a daily basis. But Twitter has been at the very core of various social media-related movements and occurrences, and a social media editor for a large media publication, with over 9000 Twitter followers, is expected to actually use the social media tools at her disposal.

Live by the Tweet, die by the Tweet.

Blogs and social networks do one thing very well - they give the blogger a potentially powerful voice, to a potentially humongous number of people who might listen to that voice - that is if their attention has been captured in the first place.

One can capture attention by writing things that matter to a large group - maybe the latest gadgets,  the newest crap just out from the catwalks of Milan - or you could just look really good, and show some skin.

This girl has begun to capture attention. And just look at what she’s done to get it and with it - an established DOTA gamer, a spokeswoman for gaming outfit, comperes for an online vid show, gets onto magazine spreads, TV shows etc.  No matter what people comment about blatant opportunism etc etc - this girl knows she looks good, and uses it to capture her audiences. But what next? Apart from nice skimpy pictures, there’s little substance to her blog. She has shown some business sense in her endorsements and such, and in her little fashion startup that is promoted ever so often unabashedly on her blog. But what next? I’ve spoken to this blogger - she’s smart and tenacious, but a denise keller she’s not.

And that’s where I think the professional media community (whether advertising, PR, broadcast, journalism) can come in and perhaps help develop the careers of these budding, blogging, whatchamacallits.

Take producer Gillian Tan and her studio for example. My better half hates what she does and the shows she produces (Eye for a Guy, S Factor etc). But IMHO, she’s found a niche for herself that no other local production house can do better - she packages sexual desire/tension for the tube, and guys love it.And because guys love it, they watch it. And because they watch it, the advertisers love it.

But no how you want to view it, no other producer has done more than Gillian in taking up the sensational in the blogging community and putting them into mainstream TV . No matter how hated by the estrogen community her shows are, it is this TV exposure that has and will continue to propel the careers of the more prolific bloggers. Going one step further, her online platform clicknetwork.tv is a great start in this apparent crossover although how it’s ever going to be a commercial concern is beyond me.

Gill and XSS, let’s have more people like you in the community to jazz things up. It’s getting boring in the media scene.

According to Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, a preview of Silversea on Amber Road held by the Far East Organisation last weekend drew a tepid response. Merrill attributed the less than 20% sold of the launched units to pricing. At $1,300 psf without a sea view, and $1,600 psf with a sea view, buyers just weren’t interested. Merrill’s report also states that CapitaLand re-launched its 127-unit Latitude project in River Valley on Thursday. “Prices ranged between $1,600-1,900psf and by Sunday afternoon, less than 20 units have been sold,” the report stated.
