Are you up for a trip to the spectacular city otherwise known as Las Vegas? Trust me, there's no place like Sin City and there's no show like PubCon. Vegas will be hosting the 2008 edition of PubCon, the conference for SEO and Search Marketing professionals and I will be there representing Voxant and Commission Videos. I'll also be speaking on a panel at the conference about a subject everyone who uses the Voxant Newsroom should be familiar with: Making money! The panel is called Video and Multimedia Advertising - Show Me the Money! and below is a more detailed description of the panel.

We're proud of the strong network we've built at Voxant -- we have over 35,000 distributors -- and we happily sent out payments to our distributors for August today. But guess what? We were only able to pay about 10 percent of the people who were eligible for payment! Why? Because people didn't have their tax forms and PayPal ids in! Make sure you've got your papers right, people!

Here are the three simple steps on how to get paid:

1) Generate $50 worth of revenue in order to be eligible for a payout

2) Get your tax form (Either a W8 or W9, depending on if you're a US citizen or not) in by mail or fax

Mail to:
Voxant, Inc.
Distributor Payment Forms
520 Herndon Parkway, Suite H
Herndon, VA 20170

Fax to: 1-703-707-9407

3) Enter your PayPal id in myRevenue

That's it. No stress, no drama. So please make sure you're not missing out on money you've earned because of paperwork. We want to pay you. Help us, help you.

If you have any other problems or questions about getting paid, reach out to customer support and they should be able to assist you.

Something old, something new

You might have noticed something different when you embedded your latest video from the Voxant Newsroom. Surprise! We launched a new player! Our new player launched a few weeks ago and now that it's been running in our network for a good amount of time, we wanted to formally announce its launch and get your feedback.

The top three features of the new player are:

1) Slicker look and feel. Our new player is bringing sexy back. We've put the video first, rather than having just the thumbnail and the description first, we now display the headline as overlay of the video. Our play buttons are now a light shade of blue and they've been tweaked to look sexier. Like our new play button?

2) Performance improvement. Loading times have been improved with the new player. It should now load faster than before. In fact, there has been a 20 percent decrease in load time, assuming broadband connection. (Is anyone still on dial-up?) This is because Voxant's player is lighter than other players.

3) Got Menu? Our player now has a menu button with a few different features. You can now view your video in full screen mode, you can view the description of the view and you can grab the embed code through the menu instead of the embed button. Of course, the embed button still works as it did before.

Our product manager, Aastha Verma, takes a lot of pride in the new player and the work that our engineering team has accomplished with the release of our new player.

"We took everything we learned from our users and turned out a tight, efficient product," says Verma. She describes the player as robust and flexible, which allows for more features to be implemented in the player down the road.

Check it out for yourself:

So now that the new player has been released and you've had a chance to play around with it, tell us what you think.

Voxant, the new media network, has recently brought both Better TV and Parents TV into our syndication network, providing Voxant with even more robust parenting and family content.

Better TV is all about tips for making every aspect of your life better. From your home to your family, from your health to your cooking, Better TV can give you tips to improve on anything. Think of your life as a fixer-upper and Better TV as a tool to fine tune those things you've always been interested in tackling.

For example, have you ever thought about picking up fencing? Did you know that fencing is actually a great workout? Better TV shows you:

Parents TV is all about tackling the crazy, scary and sometimes overwhelming world of parenting. They talk to real parents and child experts about a wide range of issues from baby shoes to vaccinations, from daycares to post-partum depression. The interviews and reports will open your eyes to what other parents do and how to best navigate your child as he or she grows and still maintain some sanity. I kid, but raising kids brings up lots of questions and Parents TV has lots of answers.

For example, how do you deal with your toddler's disruptive temper tantrums? Parents TV weighs in:

The Olympics are over, but you can still relive the glory

The Olympics ended with a spectacular closing ceremony on Sunday evening, as London was officially passed the Olympic torch. Leona Lewis came out looking like a plant thing, Jimmy Page played the guitar and David Beckham posed for the cameras and kicked a soccer ball. The things one does for one's country, eh?

Even though all of the excitement is over in Beijing, you can still relive the highlights of all the great Olympic moments and weigh on who your favorite athletes were or what events blew you away.

Last week, we covered the top 5 most viewed Olympic videos from 8/8/08-8/18/08, this week, we'll look at the most viewed Olympics videos from 8/18/08-8/26/08.

1)

Track and Field are easily one of the biggest draws at the Summer Games, and you guys apparently in step with that trend. The story of Tyson Gay loomed large over the Olympics, he was heavily favored to do great things for Team USA, alas, it wasn't meant to be. He underperformed and didn't even qualify to the finals in one of his events. Usain Bolt on the other hand had the best Olympics ever.

2)

You love, Michael Phelps. You really, really love him. Michael Phelps was THE star of the Olympic games and everybody and their mother wanted to watch him swim like a fish. Flipper ain't got jack on Michael Phelps in the water. And Phelps Phans (Ha!) from Baltimore are loyal and proud of the Olympian.

3)

Wrap up time! I guess a few of you missed the closing ceremony and watched this video in lieu of the actual spectacle? I don't blame you. While they had some impressive stunts and performances in the closing ceremony, it paled in comparison to the jaw-dropping opening ceremony. Plus, by the end I think we're just all Olympic-ed out.

4)

Jeremy Wariner was poised to break Michael Johnson's record time in the 400m sprint and he was confident he would win the gold. But alas, he didn't quite make it there; Wariner finished in second. Hey, at least he wasn't disqualified like the men and women in the relay race.

5)

The world is Michael's, we just live in it. And Phelpsmania took the world by storm after Phelps secured the last of 8 gold medals. Everyone was eager to find out: What will he do next? Will Michael be on the cover of Wheaties or Cocoa Puffs? Will Michael's victory boost the profile of swimming in the US? Is Michael dating? Boxers or briefs? Inquiring minds need to know.

We pulled the numbers and these are the Top 5 Olympic videos from 8/8/08-8/18/08

The opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games drew lots of attention, and as usual some criticism. The pomp and circumstance of the ceremonies which featured hundreds of performers, dancers, children and Olympians was a spectacle few could resist. Who says China doesn't know how to throw a party?

The womens' gymnastics team has won the hearts and minds of the viewing audience, as usual. Every four years, Americans get interested in floor routines, balance beams and uneven bars. The ladies who went to Beijing representing the USA were some of the best and the brightest in the gymnastics world, rivaled closely by the Chinese.

The Williams sisters are always a popular duo and the Olympics proved to be no exception. Many watched with anticipation and hope as the Williams arrived in Beijing. Unfortunately, in the end neither sister went home with a medal in the singles competition. But they did secure gold in the doubles competition. Proving that two heads are better than one.

They're baaaackk. The U.S. Men's Basketball team may have fallen asleep in 2004 at the Athens games, but this time around the U.S. has dominated, leaving no stone unturned. Angola didn't stand a chance against the American juggernaut and expectedly crumbled in its path. The U.S. team then went on to stamp out the reigning world champion, Spain. Kobe, Dwayne and LeBron, oh my!

Don't miss out on all of the amazing feats and nail-biting events from the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Just last night, Michael Phelps, Cullen Jones, Jason Lezak and Garret Weber-Gale snatched victory right out of the jaws of the trash-talking French in the 4-x-100 relay. It was one of those moments that only the Olympics can provide, full of apprehension, excitement and victory. Not to mention overwhelming sense of pride and accomplishment that swept over the young American team, and the viewing audience. Monumental seems to be the best word to describe it.

The Voxant Newsroom has the Olympics covered, monumental moments and all. We've got images from strong photo groups such as Newscom, SIPA Press, European PressPhoto Agency and Getty Images. We've got Olympic video from Reuters, the Associated Press, the BBC, CBS and other local outlets. Of course, due to certain licensing restrictions we don't have footage from the actual events, but our content providers get exclusives in their own way, telling the stories that you don't see on TV.

Like the story of the South African canoe team comprised of a white man and a black man, a historic first for a country still struggling with the effects of its painful apartheid past.

You can find Olympic content in the Newsroom by searching for single videos, or you can grab our Olympic feeds from our special Olympic splash page. The games are on for only two weeks so take it in while you can.

many of you have spoken out with questions, suggestions, and concerns. We’ve
listened.

As a result, we’re running a special promotion for the month of July… we’ll
be offering a $7 CPM for non-autoplay video. We’ll be assessing the success
of this promotion at the end of July – impression numbers for the month will
help us determine how successful we can be at this higher CPM and influence our
decision for how to move forward with future rate cards. For now, we’re
thrilled to make you all this offer and hope it reaps great rewards for you!

July CPM rates are below (no changes have been made other than the addition of
the July promotion):

Text and Image - $0.10
Referral Text and Image - $0
Autoplay video $0.50
Referral autoplay video $0.10
Non-autoplay video $7 – ONE MONTH SPECIAL PROMOTION
Referral non-autoplay video $1.00
