The investigation at Moonshine Bar & Grill continues as the team returns to one of Austin’s most storied locations. What began as fragments and impressions now deepens, as previous findings are tested, challenged, and expanded.

After documenting Moonshine through extensive interviews with owners, long-time staff, former employees, and contractors, clear patterns had emerged: unexplained footsteps near the upstairs offices, objects moving or breaking, sudden injuries, and presences tied to the patio, upstairs office, Kinfolk, and the Sunday House.

When the psychic investigation began, each medium was kept blind and separate. Despite that, overlapping impressions surfaced. An aggressive male presence yelling “get out.” A darker energy moving between the patio and the Sunday House loft. An intelligent, non-threatening man with glasses connected to Kinfolk. And a new, unexpected element—a chaotic teenage boy believed to be responsible for many of the accidents reported in recent years.

As the night unfolded, even more layers revealed themselves: a protective female presence near the office stairs, a shadowy figure watching from the Sunday House loft, and an Indigenous woman who appeared during a later session with imagery tied to protest, the Capitol, and a much more modern chapter of Austin’s history.

By the time the first night came to a close, the building was empty, the energy had shifted, and the most pressing questions remained unanswered. Were the psychics accurately tapping into the same experiences staff had described? Were they independently sensing the same presences? And was something still hiding, waiting to be understood?

And the house where it happened? It still stands — a modest white home in Villisca, Iowa, now known across the country for both its history and its hauntings. It’s a place you can visit… though some who do report leaving with no intention of returning.

Over the decades, the Villisca Axe Murder House has drawn in investigators, authors, and television crews, all hoping to uncover the truth — or connect with something beyond it.

In Part I, you’ll hear phone calls with individuals who have direct connections to the house: a current tour guide who walks visitors through the home regularly, a local Villisca resident rooted in the town’s legacy and history, and a man who unknowingly bought the house directly across the street — only to discover that Villisca may have called him there for reasons he couldn’t yet understand. A few months later, he would find himself entangled in a series of events that nearly tore his life apart — beginning when he was hired to manage the murder house property itself.

And that is only the beginning. In Part II, we’ll continue his story, hear from this man’s wife, and speak with both a longtime paranormal investigator as well as an an author who has written extensively on the home’s haunted legacy.

In tonight’s episode, the Night Owl team returns to Freddo ATX — a cozy café and bar tucked inside a stunning Victorian home at the corner of South Congress and Oltorf in Austin, Texas. In their previous visit, they gathered stories from the owners, staff, and a local ghost tour group that routinely stops at the property. The reports were unsettling: a heavy, foreboding presence on the first floor, strange thuds and disembodied voices, whispered names, phantom footsteps, and sightings of a woman — and even children — in the upstairs windows. The sightings were so frequent, someone once threatened to call CPS. Still, with Freddo only occupying the house since 2021, the staff aren’t quite sure what — or who — might be haunting the place. Some point, half-jokingly, to the home’s most famous former resident: Walter Tips — a rags-to-riches entrepreneur who rose to become one of Austin’s most successful merchants and eventually a Texas state senator. He lived — and died — in this home. But could he still be here? And if so, could there be others trying to make themselves known?

Over the past four episodes in this series, the Night Owl team has been immersed in a chilling investigation of the Sunset Strip Comedy Club, located on Austin's legendary 6th Street. From eerie disembodied voices and shadow figures to a haunting presence in the back stairwell, the team has uncovered a disturbing pattern of paranormal activity tied to the building's long and mysterious past. Early on, they uncovered the tragic story of John Waller Stephens Jr., whose alleged suicide by self-administered Lysol ingestion was thought to haunt the club, but the investigation has since revealed far more than they could have expected.

In Parts 2 and 3, psychic mediums Jeffery and Kate the Brave helped validate staff experiences, while introducing new and unexpected spirits. Jeffery even identified a spirit named "Hank" who had no connection to the original story of John’s death. And Kate brought to light that the negative energy in the building might not be tied to John at all—but to something darker lurking in the shadows. Then, in Part 4, a game-changing revelation completely shook their understanding of John’s death.

Nicole Riccardo, a trusted member of the paranormal community, revealed that she had investigated the speakeasy below the Sunset Strip, Eden, years earlier. Through extensive research, she uncovered startling contradictions in the narrative surrounding John Waller Stephens Jr.’s death. Newspaper articles described his death as the result of a car accident—no mention of Lysol or suicide. Even more puzzling was the strange police report showing that, after the accident, John was driven across town, past his house and two hospitals, directly to his workplace at Wilson Furniture Company—now the very building they had been investigating. This discovery raised more questions than ever about the true circumstances of his death.

Now, armed with new evidence and insights, including the help of Nicole and the team of psychics, the Night Owl team returns to the Sunset Strip Comedy Club determined to uncover the truth. Staff have long attributed the ominous energy in this area to the mysterious suicide of John Waller Stephens Jr. Reports of shadowy figures and an overwhelming sense of dread have made this spot a hotspot for eerie encounters. But during their last investigation, working with psychic mediums Jeffery and Kate the Brave, they made an intriguing discovery: the shadowy presence both mediums saw appeared to be a completely separate energy from John’s spirit, and it was likely the source of the darker activity reported. In this episode, the team returns to the Sunset Strip Comedy Club, located in the heart of Austin’s vibrant 6th Street, to continue their investigation into the strange and unsettling occurrences plaguing this historic building. After hearing chilling stories from both staff and patrons, and diving into the investigation back in September, they’re back now to uncover what might be haunting this space—and what truths are still lurking in the shadows.

In Part I, staff and patrons shared eerie experiences — voices calling their names, dimmer switches flickering on their own, and strange energy around the back office and stairwell. One employee even described shadowy figures rushing at him when he opened the café alone one morning. These unsettling accounts left the team with more questions than answers.

In Part II, the team, including psychic medium Jeffery, investigated the building. He validated some of the staff’s experiences, like the disembodied voices and names being called. But he also introduced a new spirit named "Hank," even though no one had reported this energy before. To their surprise, Jeffery didn’t pick up on the heavy, oppressive energy around the back stairwell, nor did any of the mystery of J. Waller Stephens Jr.’s rumored suicide by Lysol ingestion come to light.

In this episode, the Night Owl team returns to the Sunset Strip Comedy Club, nestled in the heart of Austin's iconic 6th Street, to continue their investigation into the unsettling paranormal activity at this historic building. Last time, the team uncovered chilling reports from staff and locals—disembodied voices calling their names, shadowy figures rushing them, mysterious foul odors that appear and disappear for no reason throughout the back of the building, and most commonly reported, an ominous presence felt in the back stairwell that may be tied to a mysterious death in the buildings past. But the mystery deepens today, as Stephen is joined by team members Alexis, Franklyn, and psychic medium Jeffery, who will dive in and explore the dark corners of this club with him.

Welcome back to the Night Owl team’s exploration of the Austin Antique Mall, a cherished landmark in the heart of Austin that has recently faced its final chapter. As they dive into Part II of their series, the team stands at the entrance of a sprawling 30,000-square-foot labyrinth, filled with echoes of the past and whispers of the supernatural.

In their initial phone interviews, they heard from staff and vendors who shared their personal encounters with the strange and unexplained. Kate recounted feeling an unsettling energy in various corners of the mall, particularly in the Southwest End, where she sensed a heavy presence. Vicki, a long-time vendor, confirmed the belief that some antiques hold onto the spirits of their former owners, especially after the sudden passing of their beloved colleague, Patrick. Renae shared her own eerie experiences, from a shaking chandelier during her pregnancy to a haunting encounter with a light fixture she believed still carried Patrick’s playful influence. Draven, who grew up in the mall, described shadowy figures and an intense feeling of being watched, reinforcing the notion that spirits can attach themselves to the memories embedded in these objects.

Today, the Night Owl team—Stephen, Alexis, and Franklyn—are joined by psychic mediums Jeffery and Kate the Brave for a challenging investigation. Haunted Hotel Havana - Part III

Tonight, the team will conclude their series of investigations at the haunted Hotel Havana in San Antonio, Texas. Previously, they gathered testimony from staff and met Kate the Brave, a resident psychic medium who works with the hotel. They learned about the reports of the burning man spirit in the basement, phantoms smells in the lobby, ghosts of children roaming the halls and rooms, shadow figures waking up guests, the spirit of a drag queen who may have resided in the hotel when it was said to be a safe-haven for that community, and most strongly felt by the psychic medium Kate was a weeping woman in the Penthouse suite on the third floor. In part two of this series, the team packed our bags and visited the hotel for a 2 night stay with their very own psychic friend, Jeffery, who was kept unaware of the location or its haunted reports. The Haunted Pompee House - Part III

In the previous two episodes, the team has been investigating the mysterious happenings at the Pompee house - a transplanted historic home now sitting atop a cliffside in far west Austin. Homeowners Kevin, Sherry and their six year old daughter Jolene have been having strange experiences since moving in in 2018. Through interviews the team learned that the family were having sightings of what they believed to the spirit of a little girl in white stockings, shadow figures in doorways and hallways, disembodied voices calling both Sherry and Jo throughout the house, and lastly the previous home owner who passed away while living in the home has been felt throughout the upstairs front room and parlor. Following the team’s interviews, they decided to bring in their psychic friend Jeffery to see if they could connect any dots between the sightings, the history and what he might pick up on his visit. Jeffery validated many experiences, including the previous homeowners presence. But he also brought to light a slightly more unsettling presence that seemed to like watching the homeowners daughter sleep. This led the family to open up to the team, for the first time, about Jolenes’ night terrors and her fear of sleeping alone. Then, at the end of this initial investigation, a psychic medium named Michelle with no connection to this case, the team or this family was pulled into this case in a unique way. Now, in this episode, the team continues their adventure at the Pompee house, this time with this unexpected new psychic medium joining us from north Texas.

A transplanted historic home, now sitting atop a cliffside in farwest Austin, has its residents questioning whether or not they are alone in their residence. Kevin, Sherry and their 6 year old daughter Jolene moved into the home in 2018 and each has been having both unique and shared experiences ever since. Kevin, a local musician, candidly shared with us in the previous episode all he’s experienced in this home. The Rental from Hell (Campfire)

The Williamson Museum is located in the gorgeous and historic downtown district of Georgetown, Texas. The museum is housed in a historic building whose lot and early foundations date back to the early 1800’s. It was in 1997 that the building was purchased by The Historical Commission and became home to the Williamson Museum, which has been collecting, preserving, and exhibiting the rich culture and heritage of Williamson County ever since. The Haunted House of Torment - Part III

In this concluding episode of this series, investigating a popular Haunted House attraction here in Austin TX, the Night Owl team brings in psychic friend Sara to explore the haunt and its corridors in hopes of gaining more clues to the mysterious happenings at this unique site. From previous episodes of interviews and exploration, they learned that the haunt has been experiencing paranormal activity since its early beginnings at their Highland Mall location, but continues to this day in their current Ridgepoint location. Aside from ominous feelings and unexplained footsteps or doors opening, the staff are also seeing a tall shadow figure, creatures scurrying through the hallways and up the walls, the spirit of a small girl, and there are places, especially Haunt 3, the Haunted Manor, that have staff almost too terrified to do their job. At the end of the previous episode, the team made an eerie discovery, a casket that was found in the vacant building when House of Torment moved in, that could potentially be a source for the activity they are experiencing in Haunt 3. Haunted House attractions have been around for over a century and here in Austin, The House of Torment has been evoking fear and eliciting screams from guests for over 20 years. However, in a place designed to scare attendees with props, sound effects, and professional actors, in this long standing haunt, the actors hiding behind hidden doors are experiencing strangeness that has them fearful to do their job. In the previous episode the team learned from some of the staff and founders that the haunt has been experiencing paranormal activity since its early beginnings at their Highland Mall location, and oddly enough, continues today in their current Ridgepoint location. Now, the team dives deeper into the more recent activity experienced here at Ridgepoint from new voices that not only reaffirm some of the experiences we’ve heard from the previous episode, but bring to light some newer experiences that include physical attacks and rumors of a young girl spirit. Haunted Vision - Part III

A boutique vision center, nestled in the Texas Hill Country has been experiencing a plethora of unusual phenomena. The staff experience eye frames falling off the racks, objects going missing then rediscovered in unusual places, loud recurring bangs on the interior walls, rubber balls seemingly appearing out of thin air, disembodied voices and sounds, shadow figures, and even two full-bodied apparition sightings of a female spirit in their Exam Room 2. After investigating these claims with the team and psychic Sara, some interesting theories were brought to light. The Demons That Haunt Us - Part III

A single mother, Luna, along with her teenage son Finn and young daughter Shiloh had to recently flee their home due to unsettling activity in their home. Unable to afford staying in a hotel for an extended amount of time, the family has since returned to their residence. However, they now live in fear that, whatever’s been tormenting them the past seven years, is going to strengthen its attacks against them. In part I of this series, in an interview with Luna, she recounted in detail the plethora of unusual phenomena the family were experiencing. Phantom putrid odors, knocking on the walls, shadow figures, full bodied apparitions,, and even physical attacks such as scratch marks and people being thrown. These attacks however seemed to be focused around Finn, Luna’s teenage son. Turning their attention to Finn, Stephen and Occult Specialist Alexis had a theory that he possibly possessed some level of psychic ability and could be a reason activity was ramping up in the home. In Part II of this series, through a more in depth interview with Finn, they not only got further validation of his mother’s experiences, but also learned of new activity in new areas of the home that was concerning. Most notably, voices that Finn and his sister Shiloh had heard and without knowing, both described the sound of the voices as “plotting”. Stephen and Alexis believed that the families action to demolish the hallway bathroom, what they believed to be a hot spot for the paranormal activity, may have just displaced whatever was there, and could potentially have aggravated it. The conversation with Finn regarding the incident in Shoal Creek where he witnessed a young boy's death and the spirit of Bryan who seemed to follow him after his event, further solidified their theory that Finn very likely possessed some level of psychic ability. After fleeing their home for a week, Luna and her two children now return to their home where unexplained activity has plagued them for the last 7 years. Disturbing sightings, unsettling sounds, foul odors, and more upsetting, physical attacks, are just a few of the paranormal experiences Luna, Finn and Shiloh have had to live with. After conducting the first phone interview with Luna, which you heard in the previous episode, it was revealed to Stephen that there were a lot of layers to this residential haunting. Layers he still wanted to uncover and shed light on before attempting an actual investigation of the home with his team. There were elements of this case that were red flags and warnings the team needed to heed. Being prepared for this particular case was crucial. Stephen decided he needed to hear from other members of the household before diving into a potentially dangerous investigation. Dangerous in that they have a family who is frightened to even be in their home. But they also have activity that’s pointing to a malevolent presence, perhaps even demonic (a term the team uses sparingly in their work). Haunted Gaslight Baker Theatre - Part II

Previously, in Episode 30, we began an investigation of a historic theater located in beautiful downtown Lockhart, Texas. We interviewed several people with first-hand accounts of experiences they’d had at the Gaslight Baker Theater. Through their testimony, we learned that they believed the theatre to be inhabited by several otherworldly inhabitants, including the original owner Colonel Baker, a woman or women who’s laughter is often heard coming from the lobby referred to as the laughing lady or ladies, and finally a darker more sinister spirit many have dubbed “the other guy”. Dear Night Owls, I know we don’t have an episode for you quite yet, but we wanted to take time to wish you all a happy holiday season and let our local Austinites know about our upcoming Holiday Spirits event on December 19th. Due to the challenging new times, ticket sales have been unexpectedly low, so we need to sell 40 more tickets to this event before this Sunday, December 6th to make the event possible. Being candid here, I’m struggling to keep the show going during this pandemic. I’ve pushed myself hard to maintain the show as best as I could, but investigating during these times is far more challenging with a lot more obstacles and to be quite honest, it’s been hard to figure out a quality way to record new investigative episodes during this time. Also, the mental and physical tax that this pandemic has had on me personally, outside of the show, is something I can’t simply keep ignoring. Haunted Gaslight Baker Theatre - Part I

Lockhart is a picturesque small Texas town, infamously dubbed the BBQ capital of Texas because of it’s long-standing establishments serving some of the best in the state. But Lockhart’s more than just a popular day-trip destination for many Texans looking for some good brisket. The history of the town dates back to the 1840’s and includes early Comanche raids, brave Texian settlers, and rowdy cowboys driving longhorns up the Chisholm trail. If the walls of the many still-standing buildings of downtown Lockhart could talk, we can only imagine the stories they’d tell. But in tonight’s episode, one such building appears to have a voice. Many voices actually. The Gaslight-Baker Theater is located in the heart of downtown Lockhart, and many in the community have had strange personal experiences in the building. It is believed that the theatre is haunted by numerous specters, and these paranormal residents have each been given their own unique name. The "Laughing Lady" whose laughter has been heard by man. "Colonel Baker", the original owner of the theatre, is believed by many to watch over the building and cause mischief ever so often. Spirits of Mattie's Restaurant - Part II

After receiving a random message on Facebook stating that a place called Mattie’s at Green Pastures had four resident ghosts, Stephen’s interest was piqued to look into this claim as a new potential case. Come to find out, Mattie’s is a recently renovated restaurant, bar and wedding venue, but more interestingly it was housed in a historic mansion with an enduring colorful history. Now deemed an Austin Historic Landmark, the home in which Matties resides dates back to 1895 was witness to many families living through landmark events including two world wars. Now, staff at Mattie’s are coming forward with unexplained experiences and it’s more than just dismissable occurrences like glasses falling off shelves or lights flickering. There have been two very significant full-bodied apparition sightings by two employees. More impressive is that what each reported seeing matched, almost to a T, and even more impressive - both employees hadn’t shared their experiences with one another. However, what really elevated this case to a level of interest was the story of the wandering psychic, Cindy, who appeared one day claiming that the spirits of the home had called her to Mattie’s. She was allowed to sit in the home and absorb all that she could. In the end, she produced a booklet of notes detailing five spirits that seemingly haunted this home, their histories, and their wishes. It was an incredible story, but Stephen wanted to know more. He wanted to investigate Mattie’s with his team, and see where this fascinating case might lead.

Restaurants and bars that are housed in buildings that are historic landmarks or perhaps built over historic land. In this episode, Stephen is contacted by a restaurant and wedding venue that he’s never heard of before. A place called Mattie’s at Green Pastures. And although the place has recently gone through some renovations, this location’s history is one of the most interesting he’s come across. Even more intriguing were the strange reports on the premises - activity mostly believed to be linked to the spirits of two young children. Phantom voices, laughter, touching, and more reputedly, children’s handprints forming on windows where no children are allowed. But above all this, the reports that had Stephen most excited to learn more about Mattie’s were two separate eyewitness accounts of seeing a full-bodied apparition of an adolescent girl. The Night Owl team will take on yet another hidden haunt, this one nestled in a quiet, eclectic Austin neighborhood, harboring a long standing history and spectres seemingly clinging to the past.

Haunted Origins - Part II

When host Stephen Belyeu was around the age of 11, he had an experience in his childhood bedroom that would haunt him for the rest of his life - a disturbing encounter with the spirit of a little girl who he discovered watching him in his sleep. Stephen had felt her presence before and continued to feel her in his room throughout his childhood. But as most tend to do with traumatizing experiences, Stephen pushed the memory of this girl away. As he grew up and moved out of the house, the thoughts of her only resurfaced when he returned to his parents house and had to face the old bedroom on occasion. Today, Stephen's parents still own the house where this happened. But to keep these dark memories at a safe distance, Stephen adopted the habit of not sleeping in this room ever since the incident. Even today, as an adult, he drags the mattress down the stairs and sleeps where he always slept growing up following the incident...on the living room floor. Stephen admits now that avoidance probably wasn’t the healthiest way to deal with what happened, but it was safe and a lot more comforting than the alternative - actually facing it. But in a field that’s led Stephen on a quest poking and prodding in the realm of paranormal, he should have known at some point in all his meddling, he might actually stir something up from his own haunted past. That this little girl who visited him in his room when he was eleven, might notice his meddlings, and once again come back to haunt him. But one thing Stephen never expected was a phone call he'd receive from clairvoyant friend Sara. A call where she informed Stephen of seeing the spirit of a small girl, matching the description of what he saw in his room as a kid, who she believes is still connected to Stephen somehow, and is desperately wanting to communicate with him. The two things that rattled Stephen after this call were one, he hadn't told Sara about his childhood experience and her description of the child spirit was spot on, and two, this girl he thought he'd put behind him could possibly have been with him his entire life, looking for an opening to connect with once again. After opening up about this pivotal paranormal experience, and the shocking call from his friend Sara, Stephen will now embark on his very first personal quest to validate the terrifying experience he had years ago. In this special extended episode, Stephen digs through old audio files recorded nearly two years ago, goes on a new investigation of his old childhood home with Sara and Alexis, tracks down and interviews friends old and new, and dives into the dark corners of his own memory in hope of finding some shred of validation of the spirit who visited him and made him terrified of his own room - the spirit he calls the girl from his room.

Host Stephen and fellow paranormal investigator Alexis met while attending A&M University in Corpus Christi. They were both studying film and quickly realized they had similar tastes in cinema - horror. They soon became friends and began watching scary movies and discussing cinema together. But it didn’t take long for them to discover they had another common interest - ghosts. Their nights of watching horror movies shifted to nightly road trips to desolate south Texas towns with haunted graveyards and hanging trees. Their ameteur days of paranoral investigating started out so innocently, yet was so illegal. They trespassed onto private property so many times they're surprised someone didn’t wind up shot or dead. But as you can tell now, they've both come a long way. And although their individual paths have veered slightly down this road, their paths remained within the same realm, the realm of the supernatural. So now at the beginning of this new season, Stephen and Alexis have been reflecting on their past and came to appreciate their early beginnings. Those private, personal experiences they had as kids, long before they knew one another, and were surprised at how much of their lives has been guided down similar tacks. Murder House - Part III

In this episode, the Night Owl team pack their bags once more, this time with clairvoyant friend Sara in tow, as they travel back to the Murder House, the home from their previous episode that was the recent site of an unsolved double homicide. The victims: a male and female discovered murdered in cold blood in the male victims home. Now, a few years following the tragedy, the current tenants, Martin, his girlfriend Veronica, and their children, believe that one or more spirits may be haunting the residence. Objects get misplaced, they have feelings of being watched, and they all seem to be losing lots of sleep. But out of everyone in the home, one person seems to be the most targeted....Martin. He’s lost the most sleep, feels disoriented most of the time, has seen shadows and smokey figures out of the corner of his eye, and more recently was physically pulled and shoved by the unseen force. Martin is also the only member of the household to have witnessed the full bodied apparition of a man standing in the entryway between the living room and kitchen who he later deciphered, through online research, was the male victim of the homicide. To Martin, he clearly felt a difference between the male victims apparition he saw and the other presence seemingly threatening him in his new home. The team knew this case was going to be a challenging one, but they had no idea what was about to unfold on this first night bringing Sara to this house.

School Spirit: Haunted Metz Elementary (Campfire)

Metz Elementary is one of Austin ISD’s oldest schools, established in 1916 on Willow Street in East Austin. At that time, this area was considered to be on the outskirts of East Austin. The School Board that year decided that Spanish-speaking students in that area should attend a separate school where their needs could be better met. In an unprecedented move, many of the Mexican-American parents protested this decision and appealed to the school board to change their decision. The other school was several miles away making transportation extremely difficult and the parents felt that if segregated, their children would not have the same opportunities as the English-speaking students. The School Board quietly dropped the issue and Spanish- speaking students were allowed to attend Metz Elementary School.Metz Elementary continued to serve students in the community for the next 7 and a half decades. Just imagine, this school was educating our youth during the First World War, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. This school was witness to 14 different Presidents during that span of time.In 1989 the school was deemed to be too small and too dilapidated to fit he needs of the community. The old school was demolished in September 1990 and a new school was built in its place and opened in 1992.Today, Metz is rumored to be the most haunted school in Austin. So much so that when you search Metz Elementary on the internet, some of the first things you’ll see pop up are the articles detailing it’s long-standing haunted history. Ghosts of Pioneer Farms - Part III

In this episode, the Night Owl team will conclude their investigation of Pioneer Farms, the living history museum nestled on a historic site on the banks of Walnut Creek in Austin, Texas. Being the largest site they've ever tackled, the team will have to revisit the farm several additional days with Sara and allow her time to focus on spirits she’s drawn to and further investigate strange phenomena she’s witnessed on the property. Stephen also begins an extensive search through history records pertaining to the farm, the land, and the various buildings that were relocated to the farm. Just when the case feels to have hit a dead end, Stephen makes a discovery that propels this story in an entirely new direction. One that involves bringing Sara back to the farm one last time, to explore its grounds with someone who might possess a gift similar to her, but who has a slight advantage over everyone, because she grew up on the farm and has talked to these spirits for most of her life. Ghosts of Pioneer Farms - Part I

In this episode, Stephen and the team are kicking off a new investigative series at Pioneer Farms, a living history museum and historic site situated along the banks of Walnut Creek in North Austin. The property was once home to an actual pioneer homestead dating back as far as 1844, and prior to that, archeological evidence revealed that a Tonkawa tribe inhabited the area that runs along the creek as well. Now, the many volunteers reenacting the daily pioneer activities on this 90 plus acre farm are wondering if maybe they aren’t the only ones reliving the past on this property. Unlike any of their other cases, Pioneer Farms will prove to be one of the most challenging cases for the Night Owl team, as not only does the site have approximately ten historic buildings and sites on it, but it also sits on nearly one hundred acres of land that once a Tonkawa Native American encampment, and even had part of the famous Chisholm Trail cutting through the property. Ghost in Grandma's Basement (Campfire)

Grandma's Basement:When they were just 13 and 8 years old, siblings Yessica and Genesis had a lot on their plate for just two kids trying to have a relaxing summer. Their parents had just divorced, they’d packed up and moved from California to Arkansas with their mother, and their Grandmother on their father’s side had moved recently as well, to Kansas where the girl’s father relocated. And it was this particular summer that the girls would be making a long 8 hour road trip to spend the break with their grandmother in her new home in Kansas. The days were uncomfortably warm due to their grandmother’s AC not working. There was a predictable tension budding between teenage Yessica and her pestering younger sister Genesis. And as usual, the girls had to navigate the strong and overbearing nature of their grandmother. But to make matters worse, there was more stirring within the walls of this house than sibling rivalry and a broken air condition. The girl’s could sense it when they first walked in the door. “Doppelgänger”The word Doppelgänger was first introduced by German author Jean Paul in 1796, in a book he wrote wherein the protagonist exchanges identities with a lookalike. The word Doppelgänger’s literal translation is “Double Walker” or “Double Goer”. However the myth of doubles dates as far back as ancient Egypt, where in mythology, a “ka” was regarded as a tangible “spirit double” that could possess the same memories and feelings as their counterpart. However, Doppelgangers aren’t just bound to legends and stories, they’ve been documented in several real-life accounts throughout history. In this particular campfire episode, we’ll hear from Linda, who grew up in a town near Lubbock, with religious parents who taught her it was best to never meddle with the dark side. But against her best judgment and with a little peer pressure from her best friend, Linda’s first session with a Ouija board as a teenager may have been the catalyst for a series of strange events and eventually a sighting of her very own Doppelgänger.“Malice”As kids, we can all recall being afraid of the dark and imagining that there were monsters hiding in the closet or under our bed. We relied on our parents to come in and make it all better. Tell us that the shadows were just from a tree limb outside our window, that the noise we heard was just the house shifting and that there was no actual monster under our bed - just a smelly old pair of socks we’d lost under there. But in one specific ase, our worst nightmare as kids, came true for one young girl named Alisar. In 1997, her and her family moved from California to Texas, and immediately upon settling into their new home, began noticing something dark lurking in the shadows. Her cats would notice and react strangely to this dark presence as well. Like all children, Alisar was no different in screaming out for her mom when the presence began to expand its territory and into her room at night. But in this story, Alisar’s mom couldn’t easily tell her daughter that the monster under he bed wasn’t real. Because secretly, she knew, this one was.Alisar is now an author still living in Austin, TX. And her experiences with this particular entity inspired her to write a trilogy called The Soulfire Series. In the final episode of season one, we travel back to where this incredible journey all began – at an unassuming tattoo shop on the Spider House grounds in Austin, Texas. In Episode 1, “ Ink, Coffee & Spirits”, Stephen and Sara investigated the story of Ray and the many unexplained experiences surrounding the Royal Legion Tattoo Shop. Sara shed some light on the spirit who haunted their shop, but what was not revealed was that Sara encountered several other Spirits that very same night on the grounds of the Spider House Café. These Spirits wanted to be seen but their stories were hazy and unclear at the time.
