It's over - A journey through site-specific theatre

So, it's all over now. The Vancouver Fringe Festival is done and the Onsite Program disbanded. Now that was an amazingly insane ride. We here at Psyche Theatre sure learnt a lot in the past 4 months, maybe more than we've learnt in the past 4/5 years at post-secondary. We mean, there is nothing like actually putting techniques and ideas into practice.

Rehearsal Process

After running through the performance for my director on site, this week I'm rehearsing twice a day at my studio. That will be thirteen full run throughs by Saturday.

The entire process started by selecting stories from my childhood. I chose an order, timed them all separately, then added up the times to make sure they'd all fit into my show's 30 minute time slot. Then I ran through them as an entire unit out loud a bunch of times.

Lost in Twine: Producing theatre is like running stairs and other Vancouver Fringe lessons

More specifically, producing theatre is like running stairs in a heat wave while wearing a snowsuit.

You might wonder how I came to this realization, but there are a few things you need to know about me first.
