Good question Bill, well a Lumberjack’s job is manly for several reasons the most important fundamental reason will be due to the fact it takes real strength to fell the trees. Olden days were the heyday for this noble craft with axes not used primarily for cutting or scaring people but for logging down some of nature’s greatest trees.
In the modern times unfortunately many Lumberjacks have fallen victim to “chainsaws” and other modern tools that have mostly made the Axe obsolete.

How much can they earn?
Depends, some sources claim a Lumberjack can earn anywhere between $500 a day up to $6,000 a day. Luckily most Lumberjacks can build a nice house or lodge out of any trees they’ve felled so cut down on mortgage repayments etc aswell as making a nice buck.

How dangerous is the job?
On average around 5-10 Lumberjackers will die each year and for a occupation that has seen a substantial decline over the last 100 years that’s quite a number. It’s a very dangerous job if your inexperienced or generally unlucky..

Are you kidding, entering a burning building to save maybe 3-4 people, carry them on your back through a wall of black smoke. If this isn’t a manly job, I’ve no idea what is. I think the manliness of this job was demonstration with amazing effect on 11th September 2001. Where many firefighters lost their lives saving those around the twin towers. We always knew just how good firefighters were, but that day it took on a whole different meaning..

$40,000 starting wage obviously gets more, the further you progress

How dangerous is the job?
According to last years stats around 120 firefighters died on duty in America alone. With the amount of danger involved, any call to a burning building could result in a potential death. Terrorism acts etc also lead to most firefighters being the first response in the area after the incident and look to secure any collapsing buildings etc.

Being a Pirate is a manly tradition back in the good old days of big warships and crazy long bearded outlaws.
