Just 2 days ago, I finished a book written Hector Garcia who is the owner of www.kirainet.com. He have been staying in Japan for the last 7 years since he was 23. According to his background he’s a software engineer who is currently working with the Japan Internet industry which I find similar to of another star of the Otaku/Japan blogosphere: Danny Choo.

I like his style of writing with colorful photos put together and explaining basic concepts to understand the Japanese better. The book “A Geek in Japan” will try to give you an idea of how the Japanese evolve back from the days until now. He presented every part of them nicely and managed to make me addicted.

At first my thought was to think that this 160 page book won’t be containing much contents that I know of but I was outright wrong after unwrapping the book and started reading. It was jammed packed with meaty content that I have a good time with. A good investment!

If you are a Japanophile then there’s probably nothing that you already know of which I’m not.. yet. This will be a nice collection to the books I’ve been collecting over the years about it’s awesome cultures and traditions. Sometimes, I found myself wondering why don’t I like my Chinese cultures and traditions more? Maybe, it’s the blending of everything nice that the Japanese have that draw me in.

In my last paragraph, I must say thanks Hector for giving me a bigger picture of the Japan and helped me discover the part of Japan that I never knew of. For that, I found a renew love in the Japanese cultures.

I thought I was in to watch a good JDrama ಠ_ಠ but as it turn out the whole series is devoid of any serious development nor have any storyline. I managed to watch until episode 4 but then on after that I keep skipping episode through episode to see is there anything worthy of my attention. In the end, I found nothing. However, I did spotted a few girls from the AKB48 group whom I like.

To put it bluntly, you are watching cat fights of Japanese girls who are popular idols + a lots of ideal time making constipated faces to look tough in front of others. To me, it was crap but I started wondering myself “Who would watch such show?” then “Does it even have a market?”.

Then, it hit me and it a no brainer too. Japan have a big market because within that sector you can slowly see sales for the type of customers who the producer are targeting. For instance, single males, hikkikomori, otaku and etc. You see the picture yet? Oh, if you are part of the demographic there is a season 2 if you are interested.

In short, I was disappointed but found two cute girly that caught my interest. The first was Mariko Shinoda who play vice boss of Rappapa then Tomomi Kasai who is the head of the Kabuki Sisters.

Although I’m a Malaysian of ethnic Chinese, I’m rarely excite about its festive season like stocking up new year foods, visiting relatives, watching new year drama or hanging up Chinese decorations around the house. It’s Christmas but in Chinese version.

To me, I think the stats I have gathered is a bit embarrassing while comparing to giant blogs out there. Total visits from the January to December of 2011 I managed to gathered a total of 180, 000 + visitors which average about 15,000 visits per month.

Other than that, you can see recommendation of anime rather high up then weirdly enough cosplay posts doesn’t rank that high (゜-゜).

I must laugh at this one because the homepage have the highest count compare to other pages. I believe, in the analytic world of eager bloggers worried about their stats this would means that I have high bounce rates. Which is a very bad thing if you trying to selling something on a site or a blog.

From my point of view, this is fairly acceptable since I not trying much to sell anything here but to write out my thoughts (I may need help on this section since I have either an online stage fright or need a better place to separate my thoughts ಠ_ಠ) or post up some pretty cosplay galleries.

Those who have not watch UN-GO yet, I would like to recommend you do so now when it’s still fresh  It’s a pretty good detective story with a twist.

So, in my defiance I will waste my time on finding awesome anime music videos to watch and since I’m doing it and collecting them in a playlist I might as well share it on my blog.

We have some good Japanese animation this season. For instance, Guilty Crown, Un-Go and Mirai Nikki are among some of my favorite of them all. However, some other titles which I initially thought that I would get around to watch but didn’t. Could it be that I’m growing out of this zone of watching anime altogether? No. It’s merely a shift in taste as I go through the years.

Come to think of it, I have dropped a tons of anime that contains genres such as harem, ecchi and slice of life is getting boring too. Moving on, we have chart that is meticulously prepared in each season by Moetron.
