The memory game runs from 6th to 24th May 2013 and during the 3 weeks of contesting, listeners will have to guess the correct memory combination in order to win. You know the memory game card you used to play, where you have to choose 2 cards and flip them to see whether the pictures match? Well this is like that, except you cannot see the card, you have to listen! More challenging, eh? But you can download this template from Capital FM’s website to help you with the game.

Each numbered box actually represents different amount of cash and various aspirational prizes, and each caller gets to choose 2 numbered boxes and see whether they are a match. If the caller successfully match the two tiles, he/she wins whatever prize that is in the box – it could be an all-paid weekend getaway, spa packages, beauty products, cash of up to RM20,000 and many more. This games runs 6 times a day – twice on ‘Talk of the Town with Joanne and Xandria’, once on Capital Wave, twice on ‘The Jam Break with Debs and Non’, and once on ‘Groove Down with Priscilia’.

I arrived at the studio at around 9 am, where Joanne and Xandria were having their ‘Talk of The Town’ segment. I was quite surprised to see another person inside the studio. It was Naz, the TV presenter! Turned out, they have invited guests for the ‘Talk of the Town’ segment where they talked a wide range of topics with their guests, besides interviews and fun contests.

 I sat quietly at a corner, listening to all 3 of them talking. Naz was giving an advice to a caller who is a divorcee and a mother of 3 about her relationship with a foreigner.

So happening and lively la, these women.

Then it was the memory game contest. The first caller of the day called and chose the 2 numbers from the boxes…. and guess what? SHE WON! Lucky woman!

Xandria excitedly said, “OMG you just won yourself RM750 cash!!!” (or something like that. Hehe)

All these whiles, I only listen to the DJs and songs on the radio but that day, I got to see with my very own eyes how they managed the cue to call and everything. I was like, “Ooo…macam tu rupanya”, all the time I was there. It was quite an experience!

Her most favorite accessories would be necklaces. I usually buy her necklaces from Cotton On Kids, Pumpkin Patch and Diva for kids. Then recently, she wanted to make her own necklace using beads (I think she saw it on YouTube). I thought it would make a great craft project so I went to the nearest Toys R Us to look for children’s DIY necklace kit.

I think I spent more than half an hour trying to choose which kit to get for my girls. There were at least 10 different jewelry kits and they all looked really fun and interesting! There’s one that has like a zillion plastic beads in different shapes and colors, another one comes with its own bead organizer, there’s charm jewelry sets, floral necklace kits, feather jewelry kits, slap bracelets kits, jewelry braiding kits and there’s even beads that can change color when come in contact with water. Man, why didn’t they make these things when I was little?!

After what seemed like ages, I finally chose something. I decided to get these basic wooden bead kits from Totally Me for my girls. I think it’s great for first-timers and preschoolers because they won’t be overwhelmed by so many beads!

Each kit contains 64 wooden beads in various shapes, a pendant and a string (that’s long enough to make about 3 necklaces)

I measured the string around my girl’s head and left a few inches at the end of it to tie it up since this is a basic necklace (doesn’t comes with any clasp and whatnot). Then I tied a knot a few inches from the end of the string so that the beads won’t fall, and let my girl work on her necklace.

Ayra really enjoyed making her own necklace, deciding which bead color and size to choose to make a color pattern. She kept on saying, “This is so fun!” while stringing the beads. Not only it’s fun, but I also read that stringing beads can actually develop fine motor skills and improve hand-eye coordination in preschoolers. Good to know, right?

And we made 2 necklaces! There are a few beads left which I think is enough to make a bracelet

Haha so I actually made the purple and black necklace for Raina. There’s a reason why this kit is for kids ages 5+… because my 2++ year old girl kept on putting the beads inside her mouth thinking they were candies! Maybe she’ll just stick to puzzles for now.

This was later that night. My girls refused to take off their handmade necklaces even at bedtime. They sure love their new necklaces!

1) As usual, click ‘Add to cart’ on any items that you wish to purchase. The added items will be shown on the right section of the page under ‘My Cart’. Once you are done, click ‘Checkout’.

2) On the Checkout page, fill in your shipping and billing information. Tick on the ‘I accept the terms & conditions’ and click ‘Place Order’.

3) Then, you will get to the payment page. See that yellow Maybank2u Pay icon? If you’re a Maybank2u user, click on that. (If you’re not, that’s ok. I’ve also provided details for other payment method).

4) Once you’ve clicked on the Maybank2u Pay icon, a Maybank2u page will appear in a new pop-up window. Login as usual.

5) In the Maybank2u window, fill in your email, the total amount of your order (including shipping) and the description of transaction (you can put your order number as provided). Click ‘Continue’.

6) Click ‘Request a TAC number’ then fill in the TAC number and click ‘Confirm’.

That’s pretty much it!

I hope you had a good sleep last night. I know today is gonna be a busy and long day for you, so I made yummy breakfast to kick off your day. How does pancakes sound like? Perfect? Good.

This is not the usual pancake recipe that I always make tho. I made it slightly different. I tweaked the recipe a bit… and added Milo. I made Milo oatmeal pancakes!

You do love Milo, don’t you? Yeah, I thought so. We all love Milo.

Oh, and I also added some sliced banana, toasted pecans and maple syrup, just the way you like it.

If I were to go somewhere alone and leave early in the morning, that would probably be the kind of note and breakfast I would give to my husband.

But… I don’t have to go anywhere and leave early, so there was no note. There was still the pancakes tho.

My husband and my girls are huge fans of Milo and they have Milo drink almost every day so I thought, why not try something different and add Milo in pancakes? I made them for my family the other weekend and they were a hit!

Milo Oatmeal Pancakes:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup Milo powder
3 tbsp oats
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Whisk the dry ingredients together (flour, Milo, sugar, baking powder and salt) in a large bowl. In a measuring jug (or another bowl), beat the eggs, milk and melted butter.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold them together. Be careful not to overmix the batter because that will make your pancakes tough and rubbery.

Brush your pan lightly with oil and heat it over medium heat. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the pan and cook about 2 minutes on each side. This recipe makes about 12 pancakes.

Serve with sliced banana, toasted chopped pecans, drizzled with pure maple syrup. You can dust some Milo powder too. Or eat it with ice-cream. Whatever you like!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I remember back then when my siblings and I were younger, my mum will make sure that we all have our breakfast before going to school. Toasts, cereal, bihun goreng, nasi goreng, sandwiches. Or at least a cup of hot Milo if we were running late. We rarely went to school with an empty stomach because my mum said, “Bila perut kosong, otak susah nak beri tumpuan”. She is so right!

Apparently, breakfast is more important for kids because their growing bodies and developing brains require regular intake of food and skipping breakfast would create physical, intellectual and behavioral problems for them. So make sure you feed your kids every morning!

I love to start my day with a good breakfast and sometimes on weekends, I would indulge myself and my family with yummy breakfast (like pancakes). If I don’t start my day right by skipping breakfast or even have late breakfast, I would get major headache or stomachache and that would ruin the rest of my day. Breakfast is really a must for me. I hope it is for you too.

The gala dinner was held at Grand Hyatt KL, on a rainy weekday night so imagine the traffic jam. I had a little drama earlier at home while getting ready and was so kelam-kabut (nothing new there) that I forgot to wear mascara. Makeup is never complete without mascara! I only realized it in the car, in the middle of traffic jam. Well, too late. Thank God my sister, Wani, attended the event too and as usual she brought everything with her.

She had a crisis of her own too (nothing new either) but seriously, she was just exaggerating it! When she said her tudung looked like tudung saji, I was picturing something like this:

I couldn’t wait to see her. Haha. But when I arrived, she had nothing like tudung saji on her. Sheesh. Lawa betul tudung saji ha.

I thought she looked like an Arab princess or something.

And then we went to the restroom to do some girly things like touching up our makeup, taking photos, complaining about our fatness, gelak-gelak… You know, the usual stuff.

The dress code was ‘Scarlet & Black Elegance’ by the way.

When we entered the ballroom, the event had already started and everyone was enjoying their meal. I looked at the menu and damn, we missed the first course! We couldn’t have spent that long in the restroom, could we?

And I managed to take a photo with her. How old is she again? Coz she doesn’t look that much older than me.

Each guest was given this FTE look-alike bottle and a time capsule where we could write what we hope our skin would be like after using SK-II. We also got a mystery gift each, besides the (real) FTE inside our goodie bag.

Overall, it was a fun night and I especially love the SK-II products that I got (I think we all did). Happy 15th anniversary, SK-II Malaysia!

My husband and I had been loyal Apple users for the past few years and I was so sure that I would replace my current iPhone with iPhone 5. But that was then. Now I’m starting to have second thoughts. I mean, I still love Apple products *hugs our iMacs and MacBooks*…. but have you seen Samsung Galaxy S4?? Nice, right! It doesn’t help that my husband is giving “green light” if I want to get that phone (he wanted to give Galaxy Note II for my birthday but I asked for a camera instead).

Previously he was like, “Tak payah la. iPhone lagi best blablabla *starts to defend Apple*”, when I suggested different brands of phones. I don’t know what happened. Haha.

I’ve used my husband’s iPhone 5 and I like it. The camera is fast, takes sharp and clear photos. But I’ve heard great things about S4 too. And the screen is bigger!

For someone who is an Instagram-holic and uses her phone mainly for the camera and internet, which one would you recommend? I really can’t make up my mind! A little help would be much appreciated (especially those who have experienced using both phones). Thank you.

Welcome cookies. So crunchy and macadamia-nutty, I like!

We actually booked a king bed deluxe room, thinking that there would be a bathtub because my girls want to have their bubble bath. There isn’t. There’s only a walk-in shower rain. And then we thought, oh well never mind, they can go for a swim at the pool. We didn’t know the children’s pool was closed because it was under construction! Haiyaaa. We told that to the girls… and Ayra, with her sad innocent face said, “But I want to swim”. Her dad melted and immediately called the receptionist requesting to upgrade to a suite. A suite! Such a daddy’s girl. Sheesh.

Ok la, I was secretly happy too because obviously the room is bigger and nicer, and we get complimentary breakfast and evening cocktail.

Which pillow would you like to order, sir? Hehe

And of course there’s the bathtub!

Ok la, there are some that are cute. Like this one, for example. And also the kids’ version (kids are always cute anyways). But I still don’t get why 1 plus 1 equals gwiyomi, 2 plus 2 equals gwiyomi and so on (gwiyomi means cutie by the way. Yes, I looked up the lyrics). Can somebody explain that to me??

Anyway. I only watched about 3-4 Gwiyomi videos and little did I know that during those times, si kenit Raina picked up a few words (or rather one word) from that song! She kept on singing “Mikko! Mikko!” on repeat for the past few days. I didn’t know she was actually singing Gwiyomi song. I thought it was a song from My Little Pony or something until someone commented on my Keek just recently. I suppose Raina’s “mikko” is actually “naekkeo”! LOL.

That vid was recorded last weekend during our short getaway at DoubleTree Hilton by the way (will blog soon). I had been trying to upload it on Keek but internet collection was so freaking slow at the hotel, so now back at home only I can upload.
