Support The Red Cross in Villa Rica

This summer, numerous charities are in and around Villa Rica raising money to benefit disease research, homelessness, poverty, and more. Every day of the year, companies and charities raise awareness about helping your fellow man. This month, May 29, The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at the Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica.

Donating blood is important to hospitals and blood banks. There are shortages of certain blood types all over the United States. Just a few pints can save numerous lives of people in dire need of transfusions, surgeries, and disaster relief. The blood drive will be from 2pm to 6pm. Dress comfortably. Juice will be available after you give blood to help with any short slight side effects.

Talk to your children and other residents of The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments about the importance of giving blood. Do you have an older child who is interested in giving blood? Bring them with you! The Red Cross appreciates the residents of Villa Rica for donating the source of life.

Cycle Around Villa Rica For Bike Month

May is National Bike Month and Villa Rica is a great city to cycle around! Though residents here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments may not be able to bike to work for National Bike to Work Day, on May 18, they can cycle to shops, restaurants and other great locales in Villa Rica.

Perpetual Motion Bicycles, Inc., in Carrolton, is only a half hour drive to get the bicycle of your dreams, or service the one that you already own. Their technicians have over 25 years of experience. Help your children learn to ride a bicycle this month! Save gas by running to the grocery store or other places you need to go, on your bicycle. Save on car repairs, too! Head to a nearby trail and cycle through the woods on a sunny day. If you are shopping in Downtown Villa Rica, try wearing a backpack to help you carry all of your things. Don’t forget multiple water bottles, too!

Play Backyard Games in Villa Rica This Summer

May 18th through Memorial Day is the 15th Annual National Backyard Game Week! At The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments, we encourage our residents to enjoy our outdoor amenities that include outdoor activity areas and BBQ stations. Get some fresh air with friends and family by eating outdoors and playing a game or two! Research little known outdoor games for your family members to learn and play.

Cornhole, horseshoes, croquet, and other games are perfect to play in our community! Even though it isn’t fall, a friendly game of flag or touch football would be great summer fun, too!socialize with your neighbors by inviting them to play on your teams. Children love playing outdoors too and our resort style pool isn’t the only way to have fun in our Villa Rica community. Gathering people for outdoor games over Memorial Day weekend is a great way to make new friends here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake!

I am as cute as a button with all the wonderful Maine Coon qualities – ear and toe tufts, leather-colored nose, bushy tail with long britches, big size, great head-butts and a ‘Redhead’ as my foster mom calls me, and my gold eyes match my silky long coat. I am a great bug-catcher and can spot a bug a mile away and catch it, just so you know what I am doing under that carpet! And, you better not leave feather toys out as I will catch and tear them apart, feather by feather. I love watching TV – especially dog agility as I think it’s funny seeing those dogs following everything a human tells them to do – how funny is that?? My motor is loud if you give me some pets, especially along with some tasty chicken! I am still a young adult of 3 years. I would like to be with my brother Arby or would make a good companion for another kitty. I am listed as ‘special’ because I will need a quiet home and patient person to give me adjustment time after my traumatic start in life. Once I’ve adjusted, I will bond very closely with ‘my’ person and would love a lap to myself. There’s also something in his face that looks like he has some Dachshund in his ancestry. But his legs are not short and his body is not long and low to the ground. He seems to be about 3 years old.

The dog adoption fee is $115. This covers the spay/neuter surgery, a 1-year rabies shot, a da2ppv shot (canine distemper/parvo vaccine), heartworm test, deworming, microchip, and 30-day pet health insurance.

Use Home Remedies to Beat Back Allergies in Villa Rica

It’s April, meaning sniffling, sneezing, watery eyes, and itchy throats have come to Villa Rica and the residents of The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments. Summer can’t come soon enough and allergy medicines have been flying off of the shelves. Did you know that there are home remedies that can help you in your battle against allergies? Stave off symptoms and relieve current sufferings with the following home remedies. Save some money!

Use a saline solution to wash out your sinuses from allergens. It also relieves irritation.
Take a shower every night. Being outside for long periods means pollen on you and your clothing. Do you really want to track that into your bed?
Keep your windows closed. Though a nice spring breeze is nice, it blows pollen into your home.
Peppermint tea helps to unclog sinuses by acting as a natural decongestant.
Breathing in steam eases sinus irritation and unclogs mucous. Use a towel over your head to help keep the steam in.
