Pets are considered just as much a part of a family as siblings, children, and cousins. Our residents here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments love their pets and make sure that they are properly cared for. Though many here in Villa Rica take their pets in to the veterinarian for regular check ups, many may not realize that their pet’s oral health is just as important.

Be sure your pet's mouth is nice and healthy!

February is devoted to your pet’s oral health in order to bring awareness of the dangers that come with neglecting to spot symptoms. Bad breath isn’t the norm when it comes to cats and dogs. If you notice your pet’s breath getting really bad, take them in for a check up. Bad breath could be a symptom of something serious.

To prevent tooth decay, learn to brush your pet’s teeth weekly and ask your vet about treats and toys that promote tooth and gum health.

It may be a drive to the city from The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments but the Atlanta art scene is a worthwhile reason to take some time away from Villa Rica. There are art galleries all over the area but one certainly stands out from the rest.

The Center for Puppetry Arts is a delight for children and adults alike. See great exhibits like the Jim Henson exhibit or see The Ghastly Dreadfuls. Call them to see what is on display this winter! Enjoy the rich history of puppets in entertainment.

Doing your laundry doesn't have to be a tough chore!

There’s nothing that apartment dwellers hate more than doing laundry….well, ok, those noisy neighbors are up there too. Here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments we want to help in any way we can to make the lives of our residents easier. There is so much to do in and around Villa Rica, why spend hours on a load of laundry that destroys your clothes and your wallet?

Friends and neighbors all have tips regarding laundry that they swear by, but which are good for you? Below are some great ways to conserve water, money, and lengthen the life of your garments!

Use the least amount of soap possible. The machine will work overtime trying to wash all the suds away. Keep in mind to use enough for your load. Not enough soap means dingy whites!
Wash your clothes inside out to protect them. Remember to zip up pants and jackets! they can get snagged
Try line or rack drying your clothes. this will save money! Also, keep your lint trap clean so the machine doesn’t work overtime!

If you’re like others here at The Preserve of Mirror Lake Apartments, you’re tired of the torrential downpours we’ve been having these past few days. Rest assured that the sun will be coming out in Villa Rica for the remainder of the week. Though temperatures will be a bit colder, the sun will be shining! Grab your friends and your four legged family members for some time outdoors.

There are many dog parks and other outdoor menus to romp in and soak up some vitamin D. Take a drive to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and walk amid the trees and along the river!

Celebrate wealth this Chinese New Year and welcome the Year of the Dragon!

Chinese New Year will be on January 23, so read up on what is expected to come out of 2012, the Year of the Dragon! Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, typically takes place in the early months of the year. The Chinese celebrate longevity, prosperity, and wealth for the coming year. Here in Villa Rica, set your hopes and goals for the year high and celebrate the Year of the Dragon here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments by eating Chinese food that week and wishing family and friends wellness and happiness.

The Year of the Dragon is marked with excitement, unpredictability, and intensity. People born under the Dragon (which happens every twelve years) are marked as brave, self-assured, and passionate. They are generous with their resources but sometimes, this may get them into trouble.

Make Your Resolution Be to De-Clutter in 2012

Everyone at least thinks about making a New Years Resolution. If you find yourself thinking about it often, why not promise yourself to de-clutter your place here at The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments? Let the beginning of 2012 be more organized so you can enjoy the extra space afforded to you. De-cluttering is hard because it rarely sticks. Achieve your goal here in Villa Rica by following some of these helpful de-cluttering tips!

Live simply at The Preserve at Mirror Lake by de-cluttering your home!

Reserve a cleaning weekend. De-cluttering takes time in order for it to work. The more you rush to find places for your things, the more the process just becomes moving one pile of stuff to another location. Actually find places for things. If you can’t find anywhere to put something, that usually means it needs to be trashed or donated.

Visualize a room. Have an idea of how you would like it to look after you are done. This will help motivate you!

Load up your car with things to donate for charity. If you haven’t worn an article of clothing in 6 months, get rid of it! Same goes for those knick knacks and home decor items you hardly use, if ever.

Use that old dresser for a bookshelf at The Preserve at Mirror Lake!

Crafts are great for a rainy day, but why not create useful items from old furniture to ring in the New Year with pizazz? Many people’s New Year’s Resolutions here in Villa Rica, around The Preserve at Mirror Lake Apartments will be to reinvent themselves, de-clutter, and switch things up a bit. Instead of throwing out an old dresser or other chest of drawers, why not make something new out of it, like a bookshelf?

Remove the drawers from your old armoire or dresser, and find a way to stack them against a free wall to create a unique bookshelf. Head to any craft or home supply store and find pretty pattered drawer liners for the base of the drawers. You’ll also need to collect the following

wood putty, screwdriver, sand paper, brush or handvac, paint, primer, scissors or craft knife, ruler, decoupage glue, drywall screws and drill

The link to the project goes into depth on how to construct this beautiful take on a traditional bookshelf. Decorate it with brightly colored paints or choose to refinish the wood for a rustic cabin feel. However you decide, it’s sure to be a unique representation of you!
