The members of Lodges and Pronaos in the New York City area reported at 5:00 Pm for the meeting in the New York City Lodge. They completed their Convocation in their respective lodges and those that were driving to the New York Lodge rode together

At the meeting, the Envoy from San Jose, introduced her story in a completely different light. Paraphrasing the Envoy, “…San Jose has to choose between two places to create an AMORC cultural center: New York City and Miami Lodge. In the last analysis, San Jose decided to create their programs in New York City instead of Miami.”

Now, the members breathe a sign of relief for they now feel differently, proud to won a significant prize over Miami.

Two members of the Miami Lodge that happened to be traveling in the New York area “coincidentally” visited the New York City Lodge on 12/11 and were present in that meeting. Knowing the skillful manipulative techniques of AMORC, I believe these members were not there accidentally. Their presence was probably designed to foster the atmosphere of competition and incite members to accept AMORC’S decision to close their lodge and to create a cultural center. Strangely enough the strategy worked. New York City Lodge members thought that the two members from Miami were “spies” from the Miami Lodge and were there to get into the New York City Lodge’s business. In fact, the members now believed they were there to get more information about the “project” so that they could steal the “cultural center” back from New York. Subsequently, questions were asked, but the tones of the questions were more of an informational nature and were not designed to challenge the idea itself. As a matter of fact, members sounded grateful to the Grand Lodge for having chosen New York City Lodge over the Miami Lodge.

To seal the deal, the Envoy even went on to explain how AMORC will sign a contract to confirm the statement that the funds will not be taken from any lodge in the area and the funds will not be sent to San Jose. All accounts will be frozen and untouchable).

There is a big meeting in January to follow up on this last meeting. You will be appropriately updated.

INTRIGUE HAUNTS- AMORC New York City LODGE CLOSING

I am continuing to receive information from an interesting insider to recent Rosicrucian events in New York. The following comments, while containing his or her true accounts of these events, generally paraphrases the comments of other
participants, even though I am placing these comments in quotations.

On Sunday December 4, 2011 NYC Lodge has a convocation as usual. Following the convocation, an Envoy from San Jose made a surprising announcements.

1. AMORC will be creating a cultural center at the location where the NY City Lodge is located. That is, 32 Irving Place, New York, NY 1003 will no longer be the home of the New York City Lodge but will become the home of an AMORC Cultural Center. The center will start in March 2012

2. The Grand Counselor of AMORC will no longer be authorized to perform the Temple Degree initiation at the Lodge. Instead, from time to time an AMORC Envoy will come from San Jose CA and will perform the necessary Temple degree initiation.

Members were shocked and surprised by such big announcements because nobody had any idea that anything was “cooking” in San Jose. Some brave members (indeed, very brave) decided to ask questions. The Envoy from San Jose was somewhat taken off guard. The reason is usually members are very compliant (or are supposed to be complaint). This is, in fact, the ultimate purpose of AMORC training. Decisions made by the Grand Lodge are “cosmically inspired decisions” and therefore should be not be questioned in any way whatsoever.

Questions from Members and Answers from Envoy

Question 1. Why did our Imperator target the New York City Lodge instead of any other lodges for this project?

(During these times, members are compelled to use the phrase, ‘Our Imperator,’ when referring to Christian Bernard. The omission of the term, ‘Imperator,’ in even casual conversation, is a basis for severe punishment including a suspension from AMORC, which means the member is, for that time, excluded from the protective umbrella of AMORC’s Egregor.

Answer 1: We (AMORC) have a similar center in Philadelphia (comment: This is actually a lie and you will see that in the meeting follow-up on December 11th.

Question 2: Will the Grand Lodge of San Jose pay the monthly rent?

Answer 2: As a matter of fact, the New York City Lodge is not able to maintain the current monthly rent. The Grand Lodge of San Jose is stepping in to keep the New York City Lodge from being evicted from this place for non-payment of rent. As you can see, the Envoy is changing the “why.”

Question 3: What about the funds currently in the New York City Lodge Building Fund?

Answer 3: Nothing will happen to the fund. The fund will be frozen and be “untouchable” by the Grand Lodge of San Jose.

Question 4: Why are they taking away the power of initiation from the Grand Counselor?

Answer 5: The Chairman of the Board that was attending the meeting, was completely silent until this question was raised: “We are running quite late. This was supposed to be a quick informational meeting. Given the time constraints, we will ask the Envoy to attend out next business meeting schedule for Sunday, December 11th, after the Pronaos Convocation.

Conclusion: This is how the meeting ended.

This is a strategic decision aimed at giving more time to the Envoy of San Jose.

After leaving the formal meeting, the “die hard” members stay in the lobby of the Lodge and later on the sidewalk until 10:00 or 11:00 PM talking about the surprise announcements and what might be behind this kind of strange decision. Also, during that “spill over” discussion among members, they devise a strategy. It is decided that each member in his or her own circle will reach out to every possible member in the area so they will come in large numbers to the meeting on Sunday, December 11, hopefully to ask questions.

However, the members are about to receive a very big surprise on December 11, 2011. They didn’t know and could not have predicted that AMORC has anticipated their plan for December 11.

THE CORPORATE CULTURE OF AMORC

I have been alluding to reports from members of strange changes in the atmosphere of AMORC- between the Grand Lodges and local lodge, between local lodges themselves- and between members. I think this is partially economically based, but there may be more to it.

Again, rumors abound. One of them claims that certain chosen members scrupulously watch the others around them, focusing on their every word, observing even their body movements, trying to see if certain members’ body language or speech will betray them as dissenters. This has prompted members to be extremely cautious with their words and actions. One growing preventive measure is for members to abundantly promote the term, “Our Imperator Christian Bernard, " assuring their suspected Watchers of their fidelity.
The reality is that the culture of AMORC is akin to the culture of the Roman Empire. After all, Imperator means Emperor. And, in Rome, the Emperor was considered a god. So the Culture of AMORC is a dictatorship. But are we now seeing the decline of Rome- or just a bump in the road of an organization that has managed to retain its pedigree as an ancient Order for at least a hundred years.
What is the Rosicrucian Order anyway? And what is its true culture?
I would say that it is primarily an entertainment vehicle for people interested in the occult. If you went to Universal Studios and wanted a nice extraterrestrial adventure, you might go on the ET ride- but you would never, for a moment, think you were in anything but a kind of mobile electronic simulation of the movie- a great fantasy ride, to be sure.
Unfortunately, people like me get stuck in the amusement park, thinking that it was real- when they are actually trapped in a beautiful porcelain cage, replete with colored tiles and plated gold bars. Call it Universal Studios, call it Disneyland, call it the Matrix, but in reality it is one of the most successful public relations events in modern history, a work of genius sprung out of the mind of a great advertising executive.
H. Spencer Lewis was no doubt a profound public relations mogul, but has Christian Bernard inherited his promotional mantle and advertising genius sufficiently to bring this organization into the middle of the 21st century?

DISSENSION IN THE LOWER RANKS of AMORC

As I have mentioned, there appears to be some discord between the local lodges and the Grand lodges. Further, there has been a demand for more time commitments for the volunteer officers in the local lodges. And I have surmised, that there is some kind of economic pressure stepping hard on the shoulders of the Rosicrucian organization.

Perhaps this pressure and dissension is spreading to the members in the local lodges, where I am hearing reports of a growing rancid atmosphere between members. Gossip and hostile banter has crept into the lodge meetings, with many members happy to discourage targeted members from attending their meetings.
According to what I have heard, this hostility is never allowed to surface when someone from outside is visiting the lodge. But that’s not totally knew because there has always been cliques and banter like in any other organization.
Still, I hear, again, rumors that there are dramatic changes in the level of this hostility. One of the reasons may be that Christian Bernard, the imperator, has begun to resent standing in the shadows of H. Spencer Lewis and is beginning to assert his authority, a fact which grates on some members, who still resent the coup d’état that toppled Gary Stewart from power. Now, according to my contacts in AMORC, every day a member goes to an AMORC convocation, the leaders of the Lodge find multiple ways to refer to Bernard as "Our Imperator Christian Bernard." Is a loyal Bernard faction bringing the spirit of Orwellian dictatorship into the meetings?

FYI to all my readers. My next project on AMORC will be emerging at some point in 2012.

I found this book to be quite interesting. No matter what one's opinion of AMORC is (and it seems everyone commenting has a strong opinion on AMORC) Freeman's journey seems typical for someone who feels marginalized and believes they will gain self worth by joining some kind of group.

He was an immigrant with some education and couldn't understand how to move up the American ladder of success. Most of us have decent networking skills or just due to being raised in the American middle class culture we have been brought up to be good little corporate drones and groomed to play the part.

Immigrants and people raised in the lower classes don't have it so lucky, sure they may have gone to college and acquired "book smarts" but still don't have the skills to present a good resume or get past the initial interview with human resources. Maybe they are just socially awkward. Whatever the reason, the rungs of the success ladder are out of reach. These are the people most easily lured into pyramid "get rich quick" schemes as well as religious cults, not to mention the ones who keep "The Secret" a best seller.

Freeman was one of these people. Perhaps he saw an ad in a tabloid that promised he'd discover the meaning of life or that prosperity would be in his reach - he just needed to align his thoughts cosmically. He was sold on being part of a fraternity that would unlock secrets that the general public would never understand. Everyone, especially a lonely soul, wants to feel like they belong. Many of us want to feel exclusive hence country clubs, fraternal orders, street gangs, and religions that claim their way is superior and everyone else is on the fast track to hell.

So he sent away for the info, gave AMORC their $400 annual fees and for awhile felt like he was taking charge of his life. He followed every lesson, perhaps even went over board with the studies like any newbie zealot does. After awhile, he realized he was still in the same dead end job. Money that could have gone towards building a decent corporate wardrobe was being spent on esoteric books and more annual fees, time that could have been used on developing interpersonal skills useful for networking or interviewing was being wasted on meditation experiments. Instead of getting out and meeting people already in his career field of choice, he was only associating with AMORC members.

When he would try and break away, something bad would happen and he would attribute it to AMORC's powerful brotherhood jinxing him.

He could have easily joined anything else and I believe the results would have been the same, I don't necessarily think that AMORC is powerful enough to control someone's mind. It's more that people who have a disposition to join groups such as AMORC tend to feel powerless already and will blame all their short comings on external factors rather than own up to them.

Read this book more to get an idea of why someone would be desperate enough to join AMORC not to discover some evil AMORC conspiracy.

COMMENTARY:

Although I have to confess that this reader is largely right- about how poverty and desperation propelled me towards AMORC. But I think he underestimates the power of Mind Control in forwarding the process and eventually tragically disrupting the functioning of the rational mind.
He says, “He could have easily joined anything else and I believe the results would have been the same, I don't necessarily think that AMORC is powerful enough to control someone's mind.”
That statement is a profound misunderstanding of how a cult works and the way the human personality can be totally submerged in the web of hypnotic conditioning by a cult. Yes, to some degree, I was a victim of my own self. I admit it. But I can assure the reviewer that most AMORC members I have met in the States are not driven by poverty and are not deprived of work like I was. And, yet, it is my belief, they are every bit as programmed as I was- if, indeed, they rigorously practiced what they were told to practice (admittedly, many do not).

IS AMORC’S CULTURE IN DECLINE?

Please help me with all this!
According to what I have heard, there is a disturbance in the local lodges- in their meetings and even between lodges.
Part of the problem appears to involve the economics of the Grand Lodge.

In my discussion with informed sources, the Grand Lodge is now forcing members to go to large regional events such as regional conventions by forbidding local lodges from hosting events that coincide with theirs. Since events like these keep the lodges flush enough so that they don’t have to pester members for donations, lodges have become desperate for as many of these events as they can manage. It has never been very cool for this large organization with a “distinguished” occult pedigree to act like a hungry evangelical church flashing its 800 number over a TV screen. Having events is the preferred way.
There are rumors that some of these local lodges use their special connections to the Grand Lodge in San Jose to obtain permission to secretly schedule events that do coincide with the Grand Lodge’s. By the time the Grand Lodge finds out, the event has already been promoted and the Grand Lodge would look foolish to stop the event.
According to my sources, this covert activity has actually created some unpleasant and even destructive interaction between the lodges. The rumor is that certain lodges are tattling on those who are getting away with this secret scheduling.

New Pressures On Members Of AMORC

Although I have some valuable contacts, I am always looking for more information about the contemporary culture of AMORC. My current contacts tell me that many members now refuse to accept positions as officers.

In my last blog, I chronicled that the increasingly busy schedule of lodges is forcing the need to recruit more free manpower.
It used to be widely disseminated that AMORC had only one monthly meeting and that lasted only an hour. Is that myth still being propagated? Now, lodges have meetings throughout the week from Monday to Sunday with a so-called mystical weekend every month.
Nowadays, all Roscicrucian members are "encouraged" (is “coerced” a better word?) in multiple ways to participate in Lodges meeting. Faithful members will have events that can total from 20 to 30 hours. My contacts report also that recurring requests for the building fund, reminders regarding membership fees and AMRA and to additionally help for the lodges with special events are creating financial fatigue for many members. AMRA is the fund that enables members to give back to the Cosmic 10% of the financial blessings they have received, a fund administered by the parent organization itself. The idea is that since the “tithing” by members should be unselfish, why not give it to AMORC to administrate, which is, of course, as an organization, at the pinnacle of unselfishness(is AMORC and his CEO Christian Bernard really unselfish??).
Members are lectured again and again on the Importance of sharing their cosmic blessing with their lodges. The frustration members told me is that "AMORC is what is really keeping them from receiving any cosmic blessing." If you haven’t checked out my book, The Prisoner of San Jose, do so immediately- especially if you are curious as to what it is to be homeless in New York and Miami with all these cosmic blessings showering all over you. To me, it looks like AMORC is having major economic issues.

Like any large organization, in fact, like any corporation, AMORC has a specific culture.
When I was a member of AMORC, I would say that it was largely based on an attempt to drape AMORC proceedings in an aura of mystery and power.

There were weekly meetings that sometimes featured out-of-town speakers who projected themselves as seasoned mystics, adepts who had grown psychically and spiritually and commanded the respect of those who are in attendance.

But is something happening in the new culture of AMORC? Based on the information I have received from many old friends attending the lodges in the South Florida area, the Rosicrucian order is getting desperate to maintain its fiscal as well as spiritual presence.

Of course, AMORC does not wish to behave like an evangelistic church organization because then it would turn off its members, many of which have repudiated organized religion and the continuous money pitches of the evangelicals.

So they have adapted another approach- to hold prolonged and varied meetings, working their volunteer members as much as 30 to 40 hours a week as they accept greatly expanded tasks as officers of the lodge. With long hours and no pay, this puts a great strain on these volunteers, whose real responsibilities are caring for their family or going to school or even have the chance to relax a bit after work and enjoy their time off. I know all about this type of strain because as described in The Prisoner of San Jose and AMORC Unmasked, I worked for the Lodge in Miami when I was critically penniless.

It is no wonder my friends depict some of their Rosicrucian brethren as dead men walking.

Title: Can this be true? Out-of-body experience..., By BookAddict

Whether we call it `out-of-body experience' or `psychic projection' or `astral projection/travel' or any other name (remote viewing), no matter the level of its complexity or simplicity, as long as it fails to share common denominator with the original and most recognized standard, the vision according to Christian culture, I will see it as another way of promoting falsehood.

Though as he runs his commentary on section 53 in the book Freeman says he cannot personally tell what to belief about visions but he still lays bare the AMORC-psychic projection, which is a very critical and dreadful step for many other members of this order. Being a member once and for a long time--over 2 decades--he has understood virtually everything about his former cult. Hence I suppose he, Freeman, still battles with the remains of what he suffered as a cult member, under several ambiguous exercises and suggestive hypnotism, which is the principal reason for his confusion.

Freeman wouldn't be so confused if he understood the Bible and Christian teaching on vision, although this has variants too, most of which are heretic. It is the most pleasant gift that God can ever give to a man--an exceptional ability to see and or experience an event or be in a place outside one's current location. It's one of God's characteristics that prove His divine nature and authorship of everything that exists.

AMORC Unmasked is good but, as it appears, it will be more relevant to and appreciated by esoteric researchers or anti-AMORC organizations or those who wish to abrogate their link with AMORC. The book is just too deep! A person who has no special interest as I mentioned above would rarely want to read it. In addition, AMORC at large can use it as a basis for correction towards becoming a more acceptable organization. It can be used to correct the monographs, truly they are far from being perfect, and strip every symbol of a cult there in--every single thing that is unverifiable by the simple mind.

Yes, this book is a bit ‘deeper’ than the Prisoner of San Jose- because I really wanted to explain the details of Mind Control and to suggest what the underlying teachings of a true esoteric order might actually be. Still, I think many people involved in AMORC or thinking of joining might appreciate the exact way that hypnotic conditioning twists the human mind- and that can’t be done without specifically going into the monographs and to the nature of hypnotic programming.
The reviewer has his own protocol for understanding vision and astral projection. I understand, for various reasons, why he raises an alarm here. My only comment is that when astral projection or out-of-body experiences are part of an ‘occult’ package, it can add to the experiential ‘evidence’ of the member, who does not realize the potential illusionary aspect of the experience.

I can't say whether the author's experience is typical or not. I'm sure that susceptibility counts, and his marginalization economically and culturally clearly contributed to his susceptibility. However, in my very short experience of AMORC, I found that the information was very light- weight esoterically, as well as oriented to self-aggrandizement. Also, when I publicly questioned the quality of the material I was encountering, I was subject to an instant, cult-like exclusion.

My conclusion: AMORC may be more benign than some other groups that hook people in with promises of psychological and spiritual power, but you aren't going to get much for your money if you really want esoteric training. AMORC, despite its claims, is not in the Rosicrucian tradition in any real sense, for true Rosicrucianism is a spiritual world conception. The goal of understanding the relationships within and between macrocosm and microcosm is much bigger than personal power. The goal is self-knowledge and the resultant ability to serve the spiritual beings you wish to serve in full conscious understanding of the implications.

AMORC appears to me to be primarily a business - just another of the many groups or charismatic personalities that build a lucrative schtick catering to people's desires for fraternity, personal power, invincibility, and comforting spiritual rituals. If that rings your chimes, and you've got bucks to burn, go for it.

COMMENTARY:

I believe that this reader has a good grasp of what AMORC is and what Rosicrucianism, if it exists as a real phenomenon, should be. AMORC has taken whatever Truth might exist in such teachings and warped them to feed the lower mind, the human ego. I think the reader is right in saying it is “primarily a business,” a business that does not mind earning its keep by brainwashing its members and thereby depriving them of an honest quest for a real life and real answers to their most primal questions. I am now trying to catch up by attempting, again, to answer mine- while I help tear down the artifice that blocked me from finding out my own real answers for over two decades.
