The Pulse is on the scene at Nashville Yards to cover the Dinkville Celebrity Pickleball Tournament. This was the 1st Annual Event, featuring Former NFL players, musicians, and local celebrities, benefiting music education through the CMA Foundation.

The event took place on June 3rd at Nashville Yards on the Dinkville Pickleball courts under Broadway.

We spoke with Landon Hallam, the founder of Dinkville Pickleball about this event and how to find out more about the events they are hosting.

This event drew celebrities like musicians Kid Rock, Ashley Walls, Becca Bowen, and Lil Man J. There were several former NFL players like Terrell Owens, Mac Hereford, Eric Decker, Mark Mariani, Golden Tate, and many more.

Local Celebs attended and played too including Shawn Booth, Melanie Collins, and Evan Slaughter.

We loved chatting with Evan and love his story and how inspirational he is. In 2011, he deployed to Afghanistan, where he was injured in combat and awarded a Purple Heart. In 2014, Evan left the Army and shortly after, he battled opiate addiction for several years but ultimately overcame it after attending a three-month in-patient rehab center.

In rehab, Evan discovered Pickleball and instantly fell in love with the game. After completing rehab, he began pursuing his true passion: comedy. Evan started creating comedy videos on TikTok and Instagram, quickly gaining popularity by making people laugh and sharing his story. This success led to his current career as a social media influencer.

The energy at the event was electric! We can’t wait for next year!

We had the opportunity to speak with Jason and Natalie about MIRC, LLC, which has built a reputation for scale, trust, and professionalism in the secondary and refurbished guitar market.

We were lucky to be invited to attend a live painting event in Lieper’s Fork at The Southern Underground Gallery with the one and only John Carter Cash.

John is an accomplished and award-winning record producer, film producer, writer, and director, a singer-songwriter and author, and now he is adding Visual Artist to his resume.

He unveiled his first visual art exhibition, “Dark Hallways,” at the event and painted for a live audience.

The live painting then became available for bidding with a portion of the proceeds benefiting SOS Children’s Villages International in support of their humanitarian relief efforts in Jamaica.

We had a chance to speak to John about his inspiration and passion for art!

Working primarily in oil, he uses forced perspective, compressed interiors, and repeated structural motifs: hallways, doors, windows, and corridors to explore memory, isolation, and transition.

His paintings are rooted in psychological architecture and emotional space rather than literal place. They are stunning!

This was an unforgettable evening celebrating this year’s honorees with a Pre-Reception, Awards Show, and Afterparty featuring Almost Famous Entertainment.

It was an honor to talk with some of our favorite actors and actresses on this big night!

Honorees:

Mark Hamill

The Gregory Peck Award: FOR Cinematic Excellence
Mark Hamill is a BAFTA and Emmy-winning actor best known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the original STAR WARS movies and reprised his role in both the sequels as well as the second season of “The Mandalorian” and season one of “The Book of Boba Fett.”

On the small screen, Hamill appeared in Netflix’s “Sandman” as well as “Dark Crystal,” F/X’s “What We Do In the Shadows,” and Mike Flanagan’s “House of Usher” for Netflix.

He will be seen soon in Paramount’s upcoming THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SEARCH FOR SQUAREPANTS.

Marlee Matlin: The Visionary Impact Award:

Marlee Matlin made history with her film debut in Children of a Lesser God, earning the Academy Award for Best Actress at age 21—the youngest ever and one of only a few to win for a debut role. She also received a Golden Globe for the performance. In 2022, she and her castmates from CODA won the SAG Award for Best Ensemble; the film went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. She was previously nominated for an Oscar in 2021 as Executive Producer of the short film Feeling Through.

Matlin has earned four Emmy nominations for standout television roles in The West Wing, Seinfeld, The L Word, and Switched at Birth. In 2023, she became the first Deaf director in the Directors Guild of America for FOX’s Accused, and in 2024, she won her first Emmy for hosting PBS’s Media Access Awards.

In 2025, her life and advocacy were chronicled in the PBS American Masters documentary Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore, which premiered at Sundance.

A bestselling author, advocate, and Tony-nominated Broadway actress, Matlin has a First Look production deal with AppleTV, and is currently serving her second term as a Governor of the Academy. In 2025, she accepted a special Oscar honoring pioneers of closed captioning.

John Magaro: The Virtuoso Award:

John Magaro has cultivated a rich and versatile career across film, television, and theatre. Most recently, he starred as jazz legend Keith Jarrett in KÖLN 75, which premiered at the 2025 Berlinale. He also led Cole Webley’s OMAHA, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The film follows a father taking his children on a cross-country road trip after their home is foreclosed.

Magaro also co-starred in Tim Fehlbaum’s SEPTEMBER 5, a historical thriller about the 1972 Munich massacre, which earned a Golden Globe nomination. On television, he appears in the Paramount+ espionage series THE AGENCY, produced by George Clooney and starring Michael Fassbender.

Upcoming, he’ll be seen in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s THE BRIDE!, and he recently wrapped THE MASTERMIND, his third collaboration with Kelly Reichardt. Magaro earned acclaim for his role in PAST LIVES, a 2023 Oscar-nominated drama, and produced/starred in LAROY, TEXAS.

Other recent credits include BIG GEORGE FOREMAN and DAY OF THE FIGHT. He gained recognition in Reichardt’s FIRST COW and starred in THE BIG SHORT, OVERLORD, and THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK.

On stage, he’s appeared on Broadway and off-Broadway, solidifying his reputation as a dynamic and dedicated performer.

Joe Manganiello: The Spotlight Award

Joe Manganiello is an actor, director, producer, writer, and host with a BFA in acting from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. He rose to fame as Alcide on HBO’s True Blood and starred in major franchises including Magic Mike, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Rampage, Sabotage, Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, and as Deathstroke in Justice League.

Currently, Manganiello stars in the Emmy-nominated Netflix film Nonnas, alongside Vince Vaughn, based on the true story of an Italian restaurant run by grandmothers. He also joins Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece as fan-favorite villain Crocodile, with the series recently renewed for a third season. He hosts and executive produces NBC’s primetime hit Deal or No Deal Island, now streaming its second season on Peacock.

Additional acting credits include The Kill Room with Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson, Love, Death & Robots, Mythic Quest, Shoplifters of the World, and Archenemy, the latter two produced by his company, 3:59.

Off-screen, Manganiello serves on the boards of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Children of Armenia Fund. He’s also an advisory board member for Liquid Death and Colossal Biosciences, reflecting his diverse interests beyond entertainment.

We talk to Actress and Producer Michelle Romano and Actor & Producer Andrew Keegan on the Red Carpet at the Night of the Stars Tribute!

They are in town to promote a new dramatic series, they are producing and directing called “Chatam” now filming on Cape Cod. While many details of the project still remain under wraps, the series showcases Michelle’s dedication to regional storytelling and her commitment to developing bold, character-driven narratives.

We also get the story on how they started working together on this project!

Michelle Romano is an award-winning actress, producer, CEO of Roman Media Productions, and philanthropist whose work bridges powerful storytelling with a passion for impact.

She has produced and starred in a wide range of independent films and television projects, earning recognition at film festivals across the country. Her work highlights her versatility as both a dynamic performer and a creative force behind the camera.

Andrew Keegan made his film debut as Zack Dell in the 90’s Disney teen classic film Camp Nowhere. As the “bad boy” he was able to bring a level of charisma and depth to his character that won him the hearts of an adoring audience in one of the more memorable films of the early 90’s era.

That stand out performance led to him landing guest roles on such beloved ‘90s TV series as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Full House, Step by Step, and Boy Meets World, Moesha and eventually, a recurring role on the breakout hit Party of Five.

He went on to play Wilson West, Jessica Biel’s love interest, on 7th Heaven, the longest-running hit series in the history of the WB network, where he appeared in 24 episodes over the course of 4 seasons.

In addition to his work as an actor, Andrew has also begun leveraging his talents and relationships as a producer, with projects in various stages of development–including Chatam.

Valentina Marianetti – DJ Valentina – DJ to the Stars DJ Valentina is a Celebrity DJ and an Event producer!

We talk with her about setting the tone for opening night at the Festival and what projects we can look forward to seeing that she is working on.

Montel began his professional career in the United States Marine Corps, becoming the first black Marine selected to the Naval Academy Prep School to then go on to graduate from the United States Naval Academy and become a commissioned officer.

Williams earned a degree in general engineering and a minor in international security affairs and served in the military for nearly 22 years.

He is best known as the Emmy Award-winning host of The Montel Williams Show, which aired nationally for seventeen years.

Along with being a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Montel is a passionate advocate for veterans, education and health.

He serves on the board of directors for the Fisher House Foundation, The Research & Recognition Project and the Anne Romney Center for Neurological Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. We love supporting the Think Red Project and Red Dress Party, and today we sit down with some of the board members and one of their beneficiaries to talk about the event and the impact they are making in our community!

Red Dress Party San Diego – like other red dress parties in other cities – has a mission to raise funds and awareness for organizations that serve the local HIV community.

The event is a night of music and dancing mixed with charity and fun, where all attendees – and we mean everyone – are required to wear a red dress or dress-like garment.

This serves as a powerful sign of solidarity and compassion for those of us affected by HIV and a way to unite the crowd in one radiant theme. Red Dress Party San Diego is a unique celebration that invites everyone to be brave, let loose, and celebrate impact.

They have raised over 410,000 so far for the organization and want to raise $70,000 this year to help their beneficiaries.

Venue, Theme, and other Details
VENUE: The Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier. Guests will enter directly into the Pavilion, a 15,000 square foot, open-air mega-space that’s all on one level, with room for over 1,000 attendees.

This Pavilion features 40-foot tall ceilings and massive windows that give views to the San Diego Bay.

Within the Pavilion is the 360 photo booth, dancefloor, and VIP Lounge. On the back end of the Pavilion are oversized roll-up doors that open to the View Court – a large outdoor space right on the water – which hosts a large, four-sided bar and other event elements.

We had a blast last year and went VIP tickets all the way!

This years’s Theme: theme for 2025 is AMPLIFY This high-concept theme has two meanings: we are asking everyone to amplify their voices, their community, their stories, their donations, and their impact. The second meaning: amplify an element of your costume – make your hair bigger, shoulders broader, heels higher (safety first though).

For the 11th year of RDPSD, take something from your outfit and dial it up to 11.

They even have a pinterest board for inspiration so people can look at ideas on what to wear!

Magic: The Gathering and Marvel’s Spider-Man Swing into Comic-Con with a New York Twist

Magic: The Gathering is teaming up with everyone’s favorite web-slinger to bring a little NYC magic to San Diego Comic-Con. The Legends Ballroom at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego was reimagined and inspired by Spider-Man’s neighborhood—complete with comic book nods, immersive experiences, and brand-new cards.

Whether you’ve never held a Magic: The Gathering card or you’ve been dueling for years, there was something for everyone. First-timers could learn to play inside a friendly neighborhood game store, while seasoned players could play with some of the newest cards from the collection.

OH AND KING DMC was there for a special performance.
