Plugged In celebrates a month of inclusive arts events and access initiatives by Western Sydney arts centres thoughout October 2010.

Accessible Arts has been working with arts centres in Western Sydney to increase cultural activities, access and opportunities for people with disabilities living in the region. Plugged In highlights some of the achievements, providing opportunities for people with disability to engage in arts activities such as drumming, clowning, paper sculpture and tile making.

Plugged In is encouraging the disability sector to connect with their local arts centre by participating in a workshop, attending an exhibition, or taking a guided tour.

Percussion workshop with Claudia Chambers. Guaranteed to get hearts, hands and bodies beating! Suitable for young adults aged 15-24 with mobility & moderate intellectual disabilities, vision impairment & mental illness.

The Gallery is inviting people with disability to come along to our art making studios and leave their mark in two different ways.

• Tile making – use your hands and simple tools to leave your mark in a clay tile.
• Shadow drawing – work together to draw each others silhouettes on the studio wall.

Participants will have the opportunity to do both activities.

Performance in the Gallery
A series of weekly drama workshops. Performance in the Gallery is booked out for 2010. Bookings for 2011 are now open. Contact: 02 4560 4441.

Learn about clowning and comedy. Tutor Naree Shields has worked alongside clowns from Cirqu de Soleil & with the Humour Foundation as a Clown Doctor. Suitable for participants 16yrs + with mild to moderate intellectual and physical needs.

Culminating in a performance for International Day of People with a Disability on Friday 3 December.

Free Art Making Workshops

Visual arts workshops for people with a disability on Fridays between 2-4pm. Bookings are now open for 2011. Contact: 02 9609 3993.

A free day for artists who work with people with disability in the performing arts to come together to exchange ideas and exercises in a practical way.

Open Program workshops

The Q Theatre runs workshops in performance for people with disability that operate during school terms. Bookings for 2011 are now open.

This October bring your lunch, sit in the leafy surrounds and take part in a tour of the Casula Powerhouse.

Free guided tours are available throughout the week. Bookings advised.

Pinchpot

Participants learn about clay and the skills needed to model small objects from bowls and plates to decorative novelties. Suitable for people with disability of all ages.
