It’s always a good thing when you can find some really cool things to do in town that won’t cost a fortune. Fortunately, living in Kansas City you get the benefit of having options that cost you next to nothing.

For residents and travelers on a shoestring budget, you can check out this list of fun activities to take part in for free! Some activities accept donations, but for the most part they are free of charge.

Johnson County Museum of History. See what has lured people to the suburbs for the past 175 years.
Kaleidoscope. From the minds behind Hallmark, a free creative workshop for kids aged 5 to 12.
Kauffman Memorial Garden. Showcases sculptures, fountains and colorful beds of exotic plants.
Kansas City Zoo. Free admission for KCMO residents in October and November with proof of residency.
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. With the famous contemporary pieces it houses, this museum is a city gem.

It’s the final weekend of this fantastic event, an exhibition of the finest culinary experience you can imagine. Join all of metropolitan Kansas City’s top chefs and restaurants as they offer their delicious fare to the public.

Details of Restaurant Week are below:

Restaurant Week features an array of restaurant participants so that diners can visit old favorites and also try the many new restaurants that have opened recently in the Kansas City metro area. KC Restaurant Week diners order from special prix-fixe menus at participating restaurants. Multi-course lunches are $15 and dinners are $30.

So it’s always a good thing when you can find some really cool things to do in town that won’t cost a fortune. Fortunately, living in Kansas City you get the benefit of having options that cost you next to nothing.

Children’s Peace Pavilion. Hands-on museum focusing on world peace.
City Market. Saturday and Sunday mornings bring one of the largest farmers markets in the Midwest.
Crown Center. There’s always something going on at this entertainment center. Check out the free outdoor movies and concerts during the summer months.
Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. A great place to see and feed an array of barnyard friends and other animals native to the area.
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Money Museum. Learn about the nation’s financial system through interactive exhibits.

Hudson is a pit bull mix of some kind, probably about 3 or 4 years old.
He does well with most other dogs. A proper introduction is important for Hudson, but he loves to goof around with other dogs.
He is a “grinner” when he runs. So cute!
He’s got a very mellow energy most of the time, and is going to be a great pet.
He’s kennel trained and house trained.Hudson does alright with cats, but if they swat at him – he doesn’t back down. So he would most likely do best in a home without any felines.Here is what Hudson’s foster family has to say: “Hudson is a wonderful guy! Hudson can SMILE. When he is excited, he greets you by trotting towards you with his lips curled up in a smile and then licks your face when he gets to it. Hudson would be such a wonderful best friend for someone.
He is so loyal and he is an absolutely fantastic cuddler. In fact, that’s probably his favorite activity! He will sleep curled up in your bed pressed against you all night. When you aren’t in bed, he will sleep in a ball next to you on the couch all day if you let him. If not on the couch, he is on the floor with his head resting on your feet.
He has been on a road trip and was wonderful on a four-hour drive just sitting in the backseat. Hudson adapts quickly and is at home anywhere as long as he has someone from his pack with him. He has made huge strides in the month that we’ve had him with new people and visitors.
We have had many friends over that he had never met before and he was relaxed and sweet, just a little reserved.
Hudson doesn’t chew, and is house trained and kennel trained. Hudson is very mellow, but will also play with our lab whenever prompted.
He is great on a leash and makes a great running partner. Adopt Hudson and you will be gaining a new best friend! He is absolutely wonderful!”
