I get to play with my Lighta! comrades on their home turf for the first time.
2. DJG is one of my favorite artists at the moment...and I hear he is an absolute badman on the set.
3. Open studios is where I was first introduced to dubstep about 6 years ago, & its the best venue in Vancouver for this sort of thing.
4. Vancouver is my other home town...and I can't wait to see all the peoples that I've been missing since I was last there...

Along with myself and DJG, repping the Lighta! Crew will be: Taal Mala + Max Ulis (tag team set), Phowa, Calamalka (live P.A. set), & Daega Sound.

Its only 20 bucks at the door...and goes till it ends..brap!

Facebook Event

Check this tune of DJG's below...it a bit older, but a classic none the less...I picked it up in Barcelona last year...can't wait to hear all the new heat Dean and the rest of the boys will be throwing down!

Mat the Alien @ Northern Lights

This Wednesday we welcome one of our best mates/one of the best djs in the world to our new residency Northern Lights at the Hifi Club.
Mat the Alien kills it every time he steps pon the decks...and we love any chance we get to play with the man like MTA cause he is pretty much the best dude ever!

Facebook Event

Get there early to insure entry...or message TheRinseOut
Check this wan.. first chune he drops is madness for all you bass heads!

Where did the name “The Motherfucking Gaslamp Killer” come from?

"I got my start deejaying in the gaslamp district of san diego. its where all the pretty people like to go to look at each other and get drunk in there button up silk shirts and high heel shoes. they dont go out to listen to music, the music is simply in the backround & “that outfit” or “thats my team” are whats important. So for the first 6 or 7 years of my musical life, i was being ignored / hated on by these fucking good looking jock morons & they're cheerleader girlfriends."

"I remember one of the first gigs i had in the gaslamp district, when the hottest girl in the whole club approached me and told me that i was ruining her night. whats new. reminds me of high school, minus the tiny paycheck i got at the end. i think force feeding the people is how i got my name. i made them all suffer for years & killed them softly i guess. now everything is the same & no one has to worry about their atmosphere being disturbed."

Asked of FaltyDL:

How did you get into making music?

"I was tired of playing bass in a jazz band…it was all very ‘jazz band’ and I needed a little more control. Now I have almost too much control. Theres no regiment anymore. Its nice."

What’s your production set up like? When did you start producing and what was your set up like then compared to now?

"Its been the same since I started pretty much. The center piece being a 6 year old Mac G5 pillared by two massive JBL 4328ps. That’s it really. I mean two Technic 1200’s and a microKontrol help also… But theres lots of vinyl… lots of vinyl…"

Coming from New York, which has its own rich garage history - all be it a very different sound to the UK 2-step garage - how did you become infatuated with the UK sound?

"Infatuated? Not sure if that’s the right word. Obsessed with? Maybe that’s better. Simply, my true love besides my girl friend… is Jungle. Jungle. Jungle. There’s shuffle in Jungle too. I don’t think a lot of kids know that. Maybe they do. But that’s the dark beauty I think about. Remarc is a bigger influence then the Artful Dodger though… haha! Although ‘Rewind’ is a good tune. Actually check Butler Kiev’s remix on Planet-Mu. Amazing… Speak and Spell action."

Happy, but a little "dubstepped out". Kode 9 was up and instead of going with the theme of the night, he laid down an old school jungle set.

Now for all of those who know me, they will know that although the camo jacket might be in storage, I am still a proud member of the Junglist Massive.

You can imagine how my inbox just blew up when Fact magazine released their Kode 9 mix for download, and knowing my love for a dirty old school amen, I had to share. It's only up for three weeks so grab it while it's hot!

dl- Kode 9 - Fact Mix 156

XI vs Ultragamma vs Modern Math

<img style="cursor: pointer; Breakage down to our weekly Friday night social...aka Modern Math...both shows were top notch, of course.

This Friday we complete what we have coined the "holy trinity" of guests to our humble stage when we welcome none other than Headhunter aka Addison Groove to the Lord Nelson.

Before I get into Headhunter and this show on Friday...I just want to clarify what we mean by "Holy Trinity"...basically when we started this night...we talked about future guests we hoped to host - these 3 artists topped the list...and when looking back on the sound the night has come to be known for...no 3 artists have had a bigger impact than RSD, Breakage, & Headhunter on our weekly playlists...basically they are our favorite dubstep artists on the planet...and it has/will be our utmost pleasure to have hosted all three this spring/summer 2010.

Headhunter slays...we all know this...every genre he touches whether its traditional dubstep, techno, or more recently juke turns to gold...his production value is right up there with some of the greats...and have landed him remix/collab jobs with some of our other heroes Modeselektor/Moderat amongst others.

This Friday marks Tony's first visit to Calgary...come and show him why Calgary has quickly become a global hotspot for touring bass djs...
Tickets are $15 in advance at Giant 45/Grassroots...more at the door.
Facebook Event.

Here is a tune of his that came out in 2007...I put it on the first dubstep mix I ever did...and its one of those tunes that never gets old for me...

dl - Headhunter - Drop The Waste

Breakage Photos...

Here are some choice shots by our girl Donna Dada from the long weekend massive this past Sunday which featured none other than the man like Breakage.
This was hands down our best show ever!
Special thanks are in order to everyone that came out and helped to make the vibe to be as electric as it possibly could be...we definitely showed James how Calgary does tings up!
Our next show His unique live shows are now all but infamous within the tightly knit Basstown crew. Their all night parties fuel Boston's underground music culture with Shuttle's insatiable sounds and the thrill of no tomorrow at the forefront of every show.

The Basstown crew are not the only notables for which Shuttle has shared a stage, recent luminaries include: Devlin (Spank Rock), Yelle, Crystal Castles, Diplo, and Caspa. His remix credits are equally as credible and diverse including commissioned remixes of Phoenix, Micachu, and rockers The Death Set.

While still at school Shuttle honed his production skills devouring anything remotely considered listenable.
