MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - Famous French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "Valor is a gift. Those having it never know for sure whether they have it till the test comes."

In a ceremony at Lance Cpl. Torrey L. Gray Field Thursday, a Marine who was tested in the heat of battle received the highest award for valor given by the Department of the Navy, the Navy Cross Medal, and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of corporal.

Cpl. Richard S. Weinmaster, a Squad Automatic Weapon gunner with 3rd Platoon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, received the award for his actions as a private first class in Afghanistan's Helmand Province on July 8, 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Former President Bush Visits Namesake Aircraft Carrier

The USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) namesake -- former President George H.W. Bush -- and the ship's sponsor visited the Navy's newest aircraft carrier May 26-27 to observe flight operations during the ship's underway period in the Atlantic Ocean.

"It is the greatest honor of my life to be the [ship's] sponsor, so thank you for letting me have that opportunity," said Doro Bush Koch, the former president's daughter and ship's sponsor.

"This is the greatest ship in our Navy and I am proud to be associated with it."

This was the first time President Bush has embarked the ship that bears his name while underway. The carrier is completing flight deck certification off the coast of Virginia which included the first aircraft to be catapulted from the ship's flight deck and the first arrested landing aboard.

"It is a great thrill for Doro and me to be out here on this beautiful day at sea. I'm so impressed, not just with the machinery or with the pilots, but with the men and women of this crew," said President Bush or "41" as the crew affectionately refers to the 41st president of the United States.

"It's just wonderful seeing the spirit on this ship. We are grateful for your service to our great country."

In addition to observing catapult launches and arrested landings on the flight deck, the former president - a decorated World War II naval aviator - and his daughter met with the Sailors on board.

"I was so happy I got to shake his hand, I've always wanted to do that," said Seaman Derrick Chaves. "It makes me feel special because no other ships get to have their namesake on board. It brought my morale up."

The aircraft carrier was commissioned Jan. 10.

After his first 100 days in office, an ominous issue haunts Barack Obama: Is he in charge of his own presidency?
If not, who is?
In his campaign, Obama made a raft of promises of what he’d do if elected that he has not kept. Prominently included were making government more transparent, changing to more-bipartisan governance, vetoing earmark pork spending, and winning cooperation from allies through multilateral diplomacy.
Not only has he failed to keep those promises, he has also worked assiduously to violate them — all to the applause of his leftist political base.

King Obama wants to go after Bush officials

But, they will not tell you that the info obtained helped stop another terrorist attack on the US!! I guess we will just stand by and see how the king reacts when he has to handle a real crisis. I hope the teleproprompter is charged up..

President Barack Obama’s press conference this week demonstrated how out of touch he is with most Americans.
As a result of the financial turmoil and plunging stock market, most Americans have learned how pernicious debt can be and how important it is to cut costs and save.
Not Barack Obama.
At his press conference, the president defended adding another $9.3 trillion to the national debt, doubling the amount in six years and nearly tripling the debt in 10 years, according to figures from the Congressional Budget Office. As Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., has said, “The practical implications of this is bankruptcy for the United States.”
Most Americans abhor making excuses and pointing the finger of blame at others.
Not Barack Obama.
At the press conference, Chip Reid of CBS referred to Obama’s statement during the campaign that he wasn’t running for president to pass on problems to the next generation. Citing the $9.3 trillion increase in debt proposed by Obama over the next 10 years, Reid said, “Isn’t that kind of debt exactly what you were talking about when you said ‘passing on our problems to the next generation’?”
Obama began by saying, as he often does, that he inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit from the Republicans. When Ed Henry of CNN asked whether he worries about passing an even bigger fiscal mess on to his daughters, he again referred to what he inherited.
Yet when Obama took office, the deficit was $569 billion. He wants to add another $1.276 trillion to the deficit this year alone. Moreover, the deficit Obama inherited was a result of budgets passed by a Congress that was controlled during the last two years of the Bush administration by Democrats.
Most Americans have learned that this is a time to sit tight and not plan any vast new spending.
Not Barack Obama.

In one of his last moves before leaving office March 13, then-Navy Secretary Donald Winter quietly awarded 19-term Democratic congressman John Murtha (Pa.) with the service's highest civilian honor.
Citing Murtha's "courageous leadership, vision, and loyalty to the men and women of the Department of the Navy," Winter presented the influential chairman of the House Appropriations Committee's defense panel with the Navy's Distinguished Public Service Award, an honor bestowed in "those extraordinary cases where individuals have demonstrated exceptionally outstanding service of substantial and long term benefit to the Navy, Marine Corps, or the Department of the Navy as a whole," a Murtha release stated.
The award generated little publicity when it was given to Murtha in early March, but as news of the honor trickled out, some veterans groups ignited a firestorm of protest.
