Pagaruyung Palace is a royal palace, or also called istana of the former Pagaruyung Kingdom. The palace is located in Tanjung Emassub district near Batusangkar town, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia.

Do you indulge in alcoholic beverages during important events? Did you realize that drinking alcohol has harmful effects?

Alcohol - is an intoxicating substance produced by fermentation of grains and fruits. It is a depressant that slows down body functions such as movement, speech, reaction, time, and thinking ability.

When someone drinks alcohol, it enters the bloodstream. From there it travels to the brain, and because it's a depressant, it slows down the functions of your body.

Ethyl alcohol is the only kind of alcohol used in beverages. The type of alcoholic beverage depends on the type of fruit or grain used in fermentation and the amount of alcohol present. The most common alcoholic beverages are beer and wine.

Why do people like to drink alcohol?

Here are some of the reasons for drinking alcohol:

1. Peer Pressure. People try alcohol when they are in social settings where everyone else is drinking.

2. Stress-relief. Alcohol provides the temporary illusion that problems have disappeared when in fact they have just been temporarily put on hold.

3. To lose one’s inhibitions. Alcohol provides the courage to take on difficult task.

4. Curiosity. People are curious to find out what it feels to consume alcohol

5. Socialization. Alcohol is often served during social gatherings.

6. Psychoactive effects. Alcohol provides a sense of relief and detachment from reality.

7. Modeled by others. Alcohol drinking is sometimes influenced by parents and older people.

What are the reasons for drinking and not drinking alcohol?

Not all people like alcohol. Some have aversions to drinking.

Here are some of the reasons why people do not drink alcohol:

Then the alcohol moves into the bloodstream affecting every cell in the body. The liver can only metabolize one ounce of liquor in an hour. If a person consumes more than the said amount in an hour, the excess alcohol builds the bloodstream, causing effects to the body.

The development of Resistance Skills can help an individual resist temptations or pressure.

Resistance Skills are skills that are used to say "NO" to an action or leave a situation. Here are suggestive ways for effectively refusing negative peer pressure:

1. Say "NO" assertively.

2. Give reasons for saying "NO."

3. Repeat saying "NO" several times.

4. Use nonverbal behavior to match verbal behavior.

5. Avoid situations where you will be pressured into making wrong decisions.

6. Avoid people who make wrong decisions.

7. Resist pressure to engage in illegal activities, such as drug pushing and snatching.

Aside from developing Resistance Skills, there are healthful alternatives to cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking.

Do you know that cigarettes can harm to your body? Do you know that it will leads to death if you use it for a longer period of time? Do you know someone who had vulnerable situation because of addiction of cigarette smoking?

A cigarette is a cylindrical rolled paper containing dried and shredded tobacco leaves. Its main component is nicotine, a stimulant that is highly addictive.

In addition, there are about 600 additional ingredients in a cigarette. It emits smoke that comprises 7,000 compounds in total, 69 of which are carcinogenic or cancer-causing substances.

Why people smoke?

Peer pressure. People who have friends who smoke may feel pressured into doing the same to be accepted.

Parental influence. Those who have parents or guardian who smoke are more likely to start smoking.

Advertising and media. Advertisements of cigarettes portray smoking as exciting, glamorous.

Stress relief. Some people smoke to manage tension and relieve stress from family or from work.

Dance refers to creative movements or isolated movements. It is derived from man's activities either by mimicking or by creative choreography. This is usually set to a music and pattern of beats. Dance movements may tell story or interpret a song. These dances are called Theatrical Dance. These are usually performed by dancers on a stage with spectators. On the other hand, there are dance movements that are intended for social interaction or exercise. These dances are called participatory. Ballroom and folk dances are examples of participatory dance.

How important is dancing?

Some of you may not be fond of dancing or may be probably be shy to dance because you think you are not good in dancing. But you should know that dancing is not only for its aesthetic value or for entertainment. There are other benefits or importance of dancing. These includes the following;

1. Dancing is a form of exercise.

2. Dancing is a means of expressing oneself.

3. Dancing can be a form of mental or physical relaxation.

4. Dancing can develop a sense of unity because dancers are required to move in unison with other dancers.

What are the classification of dance?

The following are the classifications of dance:

1. Ballroom Dance - a partner dance and also competitive dance performed socially.

Competitive Ballroom - Dancesports

2. Social Dance - a dance for socializing with other people like community dance.

3. Folk Dance - a dance that portrays the nature and culture of a community or activities of a certain group of people.

The haka is a ceremonial dance or challenge in Māori culture.

MUSIC - performs South Asia and Middle East music with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style.

ART - creates artworks showing the skills/craftsmanship of South Asia-India.

DEADLINE: MARCH 10, 2022

Performance Task: Choose only 1 activity

A. Sing the song " Hymn to Shiva"

B. Clapping the chosen Tala with created combination of Swara in a Raga.

C. Traditional drawing of art forms of South Asia.

Procedure:

A. Sing the song " Hymn to Shiva"

Memorize the lyrics, sing the song with correct tonality and expression. Take a video while singing the song.

B. Clapping the chosen Tala with created combination of Swara in RAGA. Take a video while clapping the tala while singing the notes (SARGAM).

C. Traditional drawing of art forms of South Asia.

Select any Art forms in India such as Madhubani art (Godna style, Kachnni style, Bharni Style, Kohbar style) Mehndi, Rangoli, Attire and Architecture as the subject of your drawing / painting.
Use short size paper with [margin/borders- 1inch by 1inch]
Draw / paint the selected art form
Use any available coloring materials like crayons, oil pastels, coloring pen/pencils.
It has to incorporate designs, forms, patterns and motif of Indian culture.
Have a documentation [video-time lapse 1-2mins or 5pictures in the making)

Note: Write a title of your drawing/painting/ illustration and give at least 2 -3 sentences about it.

SPORTS and FAMILY - Volleyball

Performance Standard:

The learner . . . designs a physical activity program for the family to achieve fitness.

Performance Task:

- do the basic drills in Volleyball

- create a poster with the theme " Volleyball aids to fitness"

Materials:

Volleyball Drills:

- Volleyball Ball

- Area (concrete wall)

Poster Making:

Oil pastel or any coloring materials
⅛ illustration board
pencil , eraser, sharpener
pentel

Procedures:

Choose 1 activity you would like to perform or do.

For Volleyball Drills:

Do practice basic drills in “Volleyball” to improve ball control.

Follow the video drills as a guide.

Take a video in doing the drills.

Minimum of 2 mins and a maximum of 3 minute video.
Video must contain the start taking the first trial until time of progress or improvement of your performance.

For poster making (traditional drawing) :

Poster - is a large printed picture used for decoration. These are designed to be both eye - catching and informative.

Create a poster with the theme “Volleyball aids in attaining fitness”.

Take a time lapse while doing/creating the poster

Take a Picture of the finish product.

Indicate your Family Name & section in your output.

Write 2 - 3 sentences about your design and output.
