Salma Hayek bares all in a transparent dress at pre-Oscar bash

While stars such as Cameron Diaz and Sandra Bullock emerged from the CAA pre-Oscar party looking ready for bed on last night, Salma Hayek was a sight for sore eyes. The actress appeared from a private house in Beverly Hills in an outfit that is sure to go down well with admirers. Despite being 45 years of age, Hayek bared all by wearing a frock featuring numerous see-through panels.

The cleavage-baring design showed off her voluptuous figure as she headed out of the bash held in advance of Sunday’s Academy Awards. The star – who scooped the Best Actress gong for her role in 2002’s Frida – wore the sexy tiered style with black and gold heels featuring chain T-bars across the front. Trying to manoeuvre across the lawn in her footwear, she firmly held on to the arm of a mystery man while her French businessman husband François-Henri Pinault was nowhere to be seen at the showbiz party.

She donned the ensemble with two-tone coloured curls in her hair, all together creating a much more daring look than her recent appearance. The bilingual film director and producer appeared much more demure earlier this week when her ‘got milk’ campaign was unveiled in the US. She poses in the promotional advert with a young actress around, the same age as her four-year-old daughter, in an effort to encourage families to include more of the white stuff in their breakfast meals.

By contrast her good friend Penelope Cruz opted to attend last night's event in more business-like attire. She looked sleek in a grey suit worn with a silky blue top underneath and has her locks freshly blown out. American audiences can tune in live to the Oscars on Sunday February 26 at 7pm Eastern and 4pm Pacific time.

Salma Hayek to turn Gibran’s `Prophet’ into animated film

Mexican actress and producer Salma Hayek plans to make an animated film based on Lebanese author Khalil Gibran’s novel “The Prophet”, The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.\

The book, written in 1923, consists of 26 chapters devoted to topics such as love, marriage, childhood, joy, freedom, death and faith. Hayek, whose father hails from Lebanon, has teamed up with the Doha Film Institute and Participant Media to bring Gibran’s classic to the screen.

Each of the chapters is to be directed by a different director under the coordination of Roger Allers, Oscar-nominated director of “The Lion King”. Directors who have already signed on to the project include Oscar nominees Marjane Satrapi (“Persepolis”), Tomm Moore (“The Secret of Kells”), Joan Gratz (“Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase”) and Bill Plympton (“Guard Dog” and “Your Face”).

“‘The Prophet’ has been an incredible source of wisdom and inspiration for millions of people all over the world,” Hayek said. “Being of Lebanese descent, I’m particularly proud to be part of a project that will present this masterpiece to new generations, in a way never seen before.”

Salma Hayek and Doha Film Institute to Adapt Khalil Gibran’s 'The Prophet' into Animated Movie

LONDON -- Salma Hayek has teamed up with the Doha Film Institute and Participant Media to adapt Khalil Gibran’s classic novel The Prophet into an animated feature for the big screen. The book of 26 poetic essays written in English by the Lebanese artist, philosopher and writer is divided into chapters dealing with the human themes of love, marriage, children, joy and sorrow, crime and punishment, freedom, friendship, good and evil, prayer, religion and death - amongst others.

Each of the 89-year old classic’s chapters will be directed by a different award-winning filmmaker, with Oscar-nominated Lion King director Roger Allers co-ordinating the process. Pre-production will begin later this month with Salma Hayek producing, along with Clark Peterson and Ron Senkowski. The Doha Film Insititute (DFI) is co-financing along with Participant Media, MyGroup Lebanon, FFA Private Bank, JRW Entertainment and Code Red Productions.

"The Prophet has been an incredible source of wisdom and inspiration for millions of people all over the world,” said Hayek. “Being of Lebanese descent, I’m particularly proud to be part of a project that will present this masterpiece to new generations, in a way never seen before.”Among the directors already committed to the project are Oscar nominees Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis);

“Salma Has No Amor For Sofia,” reads a headline from the National Enquirer, which goes on to write, “Salma Hayek has a message for rival bombshell Sofia Vergara: Stay out of my way!”

According to one of the tabloid’s made-up sources, Hayek is “fuming that she’s been dethroned as Hollywood’s hottest Latina actress — and she’s fed up that Sofia’s ‘stealing’ all her acting roles.”

In a wholly fabricated quote, the mag’s so-called “source” says, “Salma hates Sofia’s thick, put-on gimmick of a Spanish accent and broken English… She says it’s not only getting old, but it’s demeaning and disrespectful to the Latin community.”

The Enquirer says with magazines, TV ads, and films, there’s a “Sofia overload — and it’s driving Salma crazy.”Actually, what should be driving Hayek crazy are false reports like this one. A rep for the Frida star says the Enquirer piece is “100% false,” and no one from the magazine even bothered to fact-check the story.

But that’s not all. Hayek herself tells Gossip Cop exclusively, “I’ve know Sofia for a long time, and I’ve always believed in her gift as an actress. She is a true star and continues to raise awareness of the talent in the Latin community. I am very proud of her.”

Sometimes heels can be difficult to strut in, but for Salma Hayek it was a metal grid that almost made her topple over in London. As the "Frida" actress was leaving the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter London Fashion Show, she got her black pumps stuck in the grated flooring which nearly led to a spill.

The appearance at the show was Miss Hayek's first time at a London Fashion Week catwalk event, as she took in McQueen's latest looks from a front row perch. The Old Sorting Office Building was transformed into a forest-like scenery for the fashion show, with a carpet of brown autumn leaves covering the catwalk and a hut in the middle of the "forest" featuring blaring techno music as a supermodel in an ivory ballgown handed out drinks.

But Sofia’s got her on height, and I believe Sofia’s probably in better shape, and stronger overall. So… I’d put my money on Sofia. Colombia for the win, y’all. I bring up this potentially hot and spicy catfight because The Enquirer claims it’s on. Their sources say Salma Hayek is seriously pissed off that Sofia Vergara has dethroned her as Hollywood’s go-to Latina bombshell. Hahaha.

Salma views herself as queen bee of Latina actresses, I think, and I could see her having an opinion of Sofia’s accent. However, Salma is married to a man with more money than God, and she has her pick of all of the designer clothes she wants, and she’s still a working actress. And Salma’s still stacked like a brick sh-thouse too, so it’s not like Sofia could even claim, “I have the better body!” They both are ridiculously beautiful women.

"I really wanted to be part of 'As Luck Would Have It.' It says something that is very important for me," Salma Hayek said Wednesday in Berlin, where she is promoting the latest film by Alex de la Iglesia ("The Last Circus"), screening as a Berlinale Special Gala. A social satire, "Luck's" screenplay was written in English by U.S. screenwriter-producer Randy Feldman. As adapted for Spain, it turns on an out-of-work publicist, once an ad agency star, whose head is accidentally impailed on a metal bar in a Roman amphitheater in Cartagena, Spain. Unable to move, he attempts to sell an exclusive primetime TV interview to save his family, led by his loving wife (Hayek) from financial ruin.

Popular Spanish TV comedian Jose Mota plays the husband. Six Sales is selling worldwide outside Spain and France. "Luck" talks about subjects that concern everybody Hayek said, listing unemployment, a family's struggle to cope, people's obsession with the press, and the press obsession with events and celebrities. But it's the character Hayek plays that moves her most. "What I loved most about acting in it was to represent those heroines that nobody talks about: housewives. Throughout history, grandmothers, mothers, wives have beared the pain of injustice, put on a good face," said Hayek. "I wanted to do the film as a tribute to housewives." "Luck" was developed by former DC Comics prexy Jenette Kahn and ex-Motion Picture Corp. exec Adam Richman, exec producers on "Gran Torino," via New York-based Double Nickel. But that picture never got made.

Spanish producer Andres Vicente Gomez brought in Mota, then De la Iglesia, who cast Hayek. "Luck" was set up as a Spanish-language Euro co-production between Valencia's Trivision, Al Fresco, a group of Spanish private investors and De la Iglesia's regular French co-producers, Franck Ribiere and Verane Frediani. "As far as I know, this is the world's first 'pre-make,' " joked Gomez. De la Iglesia described the film as "a grotesque tragedy, the story of a man trapped in an impossible situation who's really losing his soul. There's a moment in the film when it seems that he has to lose his dignity to survive, but the question the film asks is: Is it really worth it?"
