Pastor Henry and Mary Ssevviiri – Uganda, Africa

Pastor Henry Ssevviiri and his wife Mary serve at Life Giving Stream Tabernacle Church. Henry was the associate pastor under Pastor Zachariah Sserwadda of Evangel Church in Lugazi 2, until 1998 when he and Mary felt led of the Lord to plant “Life Giving Stream Tabernacle Church” in Njeru, Uganda close to the Nile River.

Both Henry and Mary were brought up in Uganda in very poor conditions. Today they give all the glory to God for being so gracious to them. God is using their upbringing to change the lives of so many! Not only does Henry pastor a local church but he also has a heart to see pas-tors from the villages get Bible training as most will never receive any formal training in the Word of God.

Pastor Henry was assigned to Rev. Ken Galyean of “Call to Africa” as the primary interpreter for a leadership conference and crusade in 1995. Later, when Henry made his first visit to the US, he formed a partnership with Rev. Ken Galyean. That partnership now works to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to train the indigenous leaders of Uganda. Since this partnership began they have seen the Lord do amazing things in Africa! Teams from the US began coming and resources were being sent regularly to the remote villages of Uganda, Kenya, Su-dan, Rwanda and the border of Congo.

As this ministry grew both Mary and Ken’s wife, Renate, began to get involved with the intention of placing their focus on the women, widows and orphans of Uganda. Mary has partnered with Beth Green of God is Grace Ministries, and Renate started the Sarah and Joseph Foundation, which focuses on empowering women with vocational training, piggery, and other business opportunities. They are working towards community transformation as the Lord reveals credible leaders to work with.

Along the way they were blessed with three daughters. Terry is a graduate of the College of Biblical Studies and Western Seminary. Christina is the only child of Hungarian parents who fled their home country due to revolution in 1956. Terry is web developer and also teaches Bible and theology at various churches, Bible institutes and colleges in the Houston area. Christina already speaks the extremely difficult Hungarian language. In 2009, during a vision trip to Hungary, God called them give up life as they knew it and serve the Hungarian people in gospel ministry. They plan to return in 2011 as long-term missionaries partnering with WorldVenture, The Sanctuary, and other churches and individuals.

Innovative Missions

Innovative was founded in 1998 by Jerry Squyres. From 1995 to 1998 Jerry led teams to open countries where the people had some Christian influence in their culture. They understood to some degree the truth about Jesus. They could understand a Gospel presentation and make a response to it.

In 1998, after several trips to closed countries it became clear that a new approach had to be taken. It became clear that each country was different, that needs of the people were different and that responding to those needs created open doors for evangelism. The new approach gave birth to Innovative Mission Opportunities.

Innovative:

partner with missionaries and national pastors/evangelists, discover specific needs/strategies, and mobilize teams for those needs/strategies. In every country, every ethnic group, and every village, the needs are different and changing. While the truth of the Gospel never changes, the strategies and methods must change.

Mission:

there is only one mission…”to seek and save the lost…” Every strategy and every method must have a strong focus on this mission as given by Jesus in Luke 19:10.

Opportunities:

they are as numerous as the countries, the ethnic groups, the villages, the people who have not yet heard the name of Jesus.

Innovative Mission Opportunities is a 501c3 non-profit organization and receives no state or federal funding. It is solely through tax-deductible gifts from individual contributors, corporations, foundations, churches and various other community organizations, as well as fund raising events and product sales that Innovative Mission Opportunities is able to reach the unreached so “that all may hear.”

The Sanctuary has a rich history of connection with Texas border towns in need of gospel transformation. For the past two years, groups from our church have participated in various work projects, conducted VBS, and delivered clothes and food in a little border town called Penitas. Our hearts have become attached to these amazing and beautiful people and that has led us to commit to devoting time, energy, and resources toward community transformation. We understand that this transformation will happen on multiple levels, with the most important one being people transformed and sanded by Jesus. However, we cannot ignore that their physical needs are constantly pressing against the community.

As a part of our effort to touch this community on a physical level, we have decided to participate in an initiative to provide food to the children of the Penitas colonia. Through an initiative called “Nourish the Children/ VitaMeal”, we are working to alleviate the malnutrition that plagues Penitas. For $22, a bag of VitaMeal can be purchased that contains thirty meals for one child. As a church, we want to provide as much VitaMeal as we can so that these children do not have to go without and will begin to know the God who provides for them!

Easter is almost here! At The Sanctuary Fellowship, our desire is to honor God in all that we do, and this is especially true when it comes to the celebration of Easter. Because of this, we have made our best effort to provide resources to help families worship together and draw near to the Lord. In the days leading up to Easter, we have a daily devotional including family activities that will help us to humble our hearts before the Lord. We encourage everyone, whether you are a single person, or part of a large immediate family, to take the daily devotions and use them to remember the cross. Be reminded of how terribly offensive our sins are to the Lord and that the only way that they could be dealt with was by His intercession and action. Our hope is that your hearts would be moved towards deep worship of God and a sincere gratefulness for His mercy.

We also hope that you will join us for our Easter service on Sunday April 8th at 10:15AM at Sartartia Middle School!
