Few celebrities are as up front and passionate about life, work and the things they believe in as Tom Cruise. If you don't think you know Tom Cruise very well, give yourself a little more credit. Cruise characters are usually very energetic and reflect a lot about the real guy-- which isn't true for all actors.

Short of meeting with the man in person, perhaps the best way to get to know Tom Cruise, and what makes him happy, is to watch his appearance on Inside the Actors Studio.

Cruise loves life and cares about people. Watch this interview and decide for yourself. Also, you might ask yourself why people write "unauthorized" biographies. We already know a lot more about Tom Cruise than we know about his critics...

Film: Ayurveda - The Art of Being

I recently saw this film documentary about Ayurveda, a 3000 year old healing practice from India.

This practice embraces many Eastern derived practices and may even contain the fundamentals of homeopathic medicine. In the documentary it is mentioned that the Ayurvedic healers were nearly wiped out by the British conquest. Some practitioners had their hands cut off by the Brits so that they couldn't practice. Nothing like Western civilizing influences...

Fortunately, Ayurveda is making a comeback. I even noticed that a certain Ayurvedic Massage technique shown in the documentary resemble a Scientology practice known as a "NERVE ASSIST", which is implemented to relieve stress and physical conditions.

Ayurvedic 'Oil Pulling' Therapy for Dental Health

"Oil Pulling" involves swishing a tablespoon of sunflower oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes each morning, then spitting it out, rinsing real well and brushing/flossing your teeth as you normally do.

Oil Pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice from India. The therapy is claimed to eliminate plaque, alleviate gingivitis, whiten teeth and even kill bacteria throughout your body.

I just started doing this and haven't yet experienced anything, although my oral and general health is pretty good already.

It's very interesting that Oil Pulling doesn't require any special product and you don't need to register or buy into some multi-level marketing program. There is no money line at all. You can simply try Oil Pulling, and if it works- it works. If not, no big deal and no harm done. Olive and safflower oils can also be used, but my web research most often indicates sunflower oil. You can purchase these at any local supermarket.

If Oil Pulling works for you, it's probably a safer and less expensive alternative than the conventional over-the-counter oral rinse products or the ones dentists prescribe.

High Definition Happiness TV?

"I don't own a high-def TV yet, but the HDTV commercials are simply the most vivid stuff on my regular TV screen.

So how many people run out and buy a Hi-Def TV after watching the commercial on their regular set?

What do they actually see? And, if a commercial tells you- "...You don't know what you're missing." - how does that fit into this equation?

A question for HD owners:

Do Hi-Def commercials on an HDTV hurt or something? Do they mess up your hair? Can you step in and back out of the screen-- just during the commercial?

Maybe the industry installs safety buffer filtering to protect Hi-Def owners from advertisement related injuries or extra-dimensional "travel" incidents. Yeah, that must be it.

Jerry Seinfeld's Secrets for Happiness

In a recent Parade interview Jerry Seinfeld actually credits a Scientology communication course, he did 30 years ago, with enabling him to kick off his stand-up career.

Excerpt:

"They have a lot of very good technology. That’s what really appealed to me about it. It’s not faith-based. It’s all technology. And I’m obsessed with technology."

Seinfeld is pretty much a household name, since his career as a writer and stand-up performer led to one of the most successful sit-coms in television history.

His latest project, the animated "Bee Movie" was written by Seinfeld-- and Jerry was very involved in the entire Dreamworks production along with Jeffrey Katzenberg. Most of us know from the trailers that Jerry's voice is used for the primary character.
