The origin of Marty and Doc’s friendship in “Back to the Future” finally explained

According to producer and co-writer, Bob Gale —

For years, Marty was told that Doc Brown was dangerous, a crackpot, a lunatic. So, being a red-blooded American teenage boy, age 13 or 14, he decided to find out just why this guy was so dangerous. Marty snuck into Doc’s lab, and was fascinated by all the cool stuff that was there. When Doc found him there, he was delighted to find that Marty thought he was cool and accepted him for what he was. Both of them were the black sheep in their respective environments. Doc gave Marty a part-time job to help with experiments, tend to the lab, tend to the dog, etc.

Bruce Willis now confirmed for GI Joe 2

Previously there were only rumours that Willis was negotiating to play the part of the very first Joe, General Joe Colton. But this weekend, (Dwayne) Johnson, who’s playing Roadblock in the movie, Tweeted, “Welcome brother Bruce Willis to the cast of GI Joe! What an honor.”

‘Locke & Key’ Trailer

AMC Renews ‘Breaking Bad’ for 16-Episode Final Season

The precise end date of the series has yet to be determined, but will be in either 2012 or 2013. The network is still considering whether to air the 16 episodes as one longer-than-usual season (most of the previous seasons have been 13 episodes) or as two shorter-than-usual seasons.

This week in movie trailers – Volume 24

A couple of these (The Dark Knight Rises, Happy Feet Two, In Time) I’ve posted previously but now the HD versions are available. Tucker and Dale vs Evil starring Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine looks hilarious, my only concern is that all the good bits might be in the trailer. Red Tails (war drama with planes), The Darkest Hour (sci-fi triller with invisible aliens) and The Ides of March (political drama directed by, and starring George Clooney) all look good for their particular genres.

Supernatural season 7 extended by an episode

The CW has extended its episode orders for a number of shows in the 2011/12 season, including Supernatural which will now have a seventh season of 23 episodes instead of 22.

No complaints here, more Supernatural is always good.

Russell Crowe as Superman’s Kryptonian father Jor-El, Julia Ormond as his Kryptonian mother Lara Lor-Van, Antje Traue as “Zod’s evil partner” Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

Agent Coulson bridges Marvel gaps in one-shot short “The Consultant”

The below clip is part of the Marvel One-Shot: The Consultant short film that can be found on the Thor Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D release (out Sept. 13), which takes place “sometime after the plots of Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, but before Marvel’s The Avengers.” It includes references to General Ross and Emil Blonsky a/k/a Abomination (William Hurt and Tim Roth in The Incredible Hulk if your memory fails), and an individual you can only guess is none other than Tony Stark.

“Spider-Man” sequel will swing into theaters in May 2014

The first one isn’t due out for almost a year, but the sequel’s already been given a date.

Sony has set a May 2, 2014 release date of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, echoing the “first weekend in May” releases of Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man (May 3, 2002) and Spider Man 3” (May 4, 2007).
