Today is my first day back in Canada and I think I’m still pretty much on London time, hence the post at 5am- probably the earliest you’ll ever see me post on here again!

I think there’s a post brewing in my head for this blog here talking about how entrepreneurs -particularly Internet entrepreneurs- need to get outside the four walls of their office and interact with their industries. We’ve been a bit guilty of that at Bet Smart. Going to these conferences were amazing in both the relationships we now have with so many decision makers in the industry, and the number of opportunities we now can pursue as a business.

More on that later though when I’m not so jetlagged! I think we’ll be posting on the Bet Smart blog about what the conferences meant for the company. In the meantime, check out this cool video I compiled of our trip below. Mind the gap!

2010 is marked on my calendar as the year where I made some resolutions and really stuck to them. Before that, I have been a fair-weather resolutioner. Rarely did my commitments for change last to Valentine’s day. Needless to say, it’s been quite empowering to stick to the resolutions I made for 2010 and the act of doing so has built up my confidence and reinforced the fact for me that change is indeed very possible.

I came across an AWESOME slideshow yesterday put together by Stanford’s Persuasive Tech Lab called the Top 10 Mistakes in Behaviour Change (and how to fix them). I thought it quite appropriate to have a look through them as most resolutions concentrate on changing a behaviour of some sort (at least mine do). Whether that change in behaviour is to dial down a negative behaviour, or dial up a positive one- lasting behaviour change is a great skill to master!

I think some factors for success in sticking to my 2010 resolutions were because I intuitively followed a couple of suggestions in this deck. Now that I have the complete set of 10 I’m looking forward to seeing how much I can whoosh 2011!

Hello, hello! It’s me, Grant. I’d like to welcome myself back to my blog. I’d also like to send out a sincere thanks to “Twitter” for keeping the blog alive with the “Weekly Update” segment. Judging by my current traffic count (zero), I can tell that all of you out there on the Interwebz found the Weekly Update of my sporadic Tweets to be an indispensable addition to your daily rotation of reading!

Twitter widget will be moving on now, and all of us here at TheStorry.com would like to thank it for it’s year of valued service. We truly do wish it all the best in it’s future endeavors.

It’s early in 2011 and I’ve made the decision to write (and blog) more often this year. While I must acknowledge that this very “resolution” has come up before, THIS year I mean it! A barrier for me in years past has been my misguided goal of always trying to come up with something profound for a blog piece. I’d be very busy with work and life, and when I’d sit down to hammer out a post, I didn’t have any inspiration left. That led to me doing a whole lot of anything except writing posts. It finally hit me the other day that not every blog post needs to be profound. In fact, lately, I’ve been trying to get a lot more out of the journey rather than putting all my eggs in the destination. That’s where the new tagline in search of the profound comes from.

So now I start blogging again. This year will be a new year (they always are at the start, anyway). I have a new tagline and a renewed commitment to my resolution of writing and blogging more.

While I’ll be blogging about my journey towards the profound, I do hope a post or two along the way will be profound and that you’ll get some value from them, dear reader. For my other goals with this site are one, to create more value for my audience; and two, to really work on my “writing voice” as I think my attempts in the past have been a bit too “stuffy”.
