Last week we put our new study plan into practice and felt like we made some better progress. We still feel like there is so much to learn about this language but we do feel like we are now making progress. Please keep praying for us as we continue to look for the best way to learn and put our learning to practice.

May Baguio? (There is a Typhoon?)
Typhoon is not an exact translation, they use the word Baguio for any strong storm. In the next little bit we are supposed to have a Tropical storm hit us. So far it has been pretty unimpressive. It is still graded as a tropical storm so not even a category 1 hurricane. Basically for us it just means the temperature is down and it will be windy tonight. For many in the Philippines who do not live in concrete homes even a tropical storm can be quite devastating. Please be praying for those who live here who are in peril and also have not heard the truth about salvation. Please keep praying for God to send more laborers to tell Filipinos about the truth. Specifically some to work with us.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Update from Starbucks.
Well here it is Wednesday again, no drive day. Even though we can't drive I still like to take some time alone at Starbucks to read my Bible reflect and plan. Heather and I call it my cave time. Today I rode my bike to the gym and got a workout before my cave time. Then, when I got ready to head home it started raining so I decided to stay a little longer and write this update while waiting for the rain to stop.

This past week wasn't too exciting we mostly worked on figuring out our new language study material and things like that. This week we are continuing to study at home and participate in other activities that will stretch our Tagalog. Heather went to the market with some ladies in the church this week and gleaned several phrases that will be helpful to learn and put into practice.

Please keep praying for our language learning and our need of team members.

We picked up the new curriculum, got the paperwork for the car taken care of and made a plan as to how we are going to use our school time for study. Our at home vacation was nice and we did get some rest. Other than that there is not much to report this week. Here is a link to some new pictures of Sam and also a short video clip.
http://s722.photobucket.com/albums/ww229/Samuel_Stutzman/New%20as%20of%20June8th/

Please keep praying for new team members.

This past weekend was a little rough. Heather and I both had a flu bug that made us both pretty sick for about 24 hours. Heather is still feeling some of the effects but I am feeling fine. Praise God Sam never got it.

This week is our self appointed vacation at home week. After all the mess with our paperwork and then trouble with school we decided to take a week to rest, and regroup before jumping into our plans for language study now. We didn’t really want to try to drag Sam and all his stuff on a go somewhere vacation so we just decided to have a stay at home vacation. Of course stay at home vacations are never really complete vacations since we still spent one day getting groceries, and we will spend another day working on paperwork for our car, not to mention we are both writing updates today. But we really are spending a lot of time just relaxing and resting. We are going to be doing some specific planning for how exactly we are going to be spending our language study time.

Please keep praying for our self discipline in language work as well as our need for team members.

Thank you all for your extra prayers last week. Getting Sam added to our visa turned out to be a longer process than anticipated but God was good and we did not have to pay any penalties. Praise God for that.

We have made a choice about our Language training. We decided that we should take some time off from regular classes and put to use what we have already learned so this week is our last week of formal classes for a while. We are planning a variety of activities to help us learn vocabulary and also reinforce the grammar that we have already learned. Please keep praying for our language learning this new phase should be more fun but it will still take a good bit of self motivation to stick with it.

The last thought for the week is please keep praying for God to send us team members. We still do not have any confirmed team members. Jesus himself mourned the lack of laborers and gave His disciples a direct command to pray for God to send forth laborers. Please pray with us about laborers for the Philippine harvest.
