“Let’s Hang On”: Live at Bartlett Performing Arts in Memphis

Recent shows like The Grammy’s or Music Honors programs always have us reminiscing back down memory lane of all the music and icons we listened to during our time. If you’ve been around during the 50s and 6os (or at least heard about it fro, your parents), you can enjoy great remakes on stage at the upcoming theater show, “Let’s Hang On”!

Ask anyone about music in the 50s/60s and the names Frankie Valli, and like acts, will definitely come to mind. “Let’s Hang On” pays tribute to Mr. Valli and The Four Seasons–another famous group of Doo-Wop performers. Young or old, these acts can be expected to put on a full fledged performance, with crisp choreography, group harmonies and a live band to back it all up. Do you remember songs like “These Boots Were Made For Walkin” & “Locomotion”..?

Mix those key ingredients, with the storyline of 4 guys & 2 girls dancing and singing through some of the most memorable songs, and you’ll have “Let’s Hang On” scheduled to hit the stage at Bartlett Performing Arts & Conference Center.

As the country is focusing on the big Super Bowl coming up, it is also important to look ahead at some other sports coming up this year. For example, The Memphis Tigers are about to start an exciting basketball season, so if you follow college sports this is a series of games not to be missed. If you have lost track of the team, I’d like to provide you with the schedule for the 2012 season in the upcoming month of February:

Super Bowl BLT Dip for Residents of The Summit

Ditch the sandwich and make it into a dip for your Super Bowl party!

Regardless of what the main menu items will be at your Super Bowl party, I’m guessing you’ll have chips on hand for guests to munch on before the main event. If so, chances are they’re going to want something to dip them in; right? In just a few steps and 6 minutes of cooking time, you can have a delicious dip just like the BLT dip I found a recipe for. If you are interested in whipping some up for the party to serve with pita bread, chips or toast points, click above for the cooking instructions. Below you will find a list of ingredients you’ll need to get started:

Ingredients:
-4 slices bacon
-3 green onions, thinly sliced
-1/4 cup each: mayonnaise, low-fat Greek yogurt
-1/4 cup arugula, chopped
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-Freshly ground pepper
-1 pint grape tomatoes, quartered

Ask anyone what their New Year’s resolution is and most will probably have cutting back or spending less in their response. In an effort to help our fellow residents live up to their promises for the year.

If you’re cutting back, the good thing is, Memphis is full of fun FREE things to do around town! You can mark “Entertainment” off your list of expenses as long as you have these:

Ghost River Brewery Tour–On Saturdays, patrons are in free at 1PM! Taste Ghost River Beer and others on the tour. Because it’s free, expect to RSVP in advance.
Rock’n’Soul Museum Free Music Showcase–Located at 191 Beale St. & Hwy 61 (next to the FedExForum). They have R&B, Jazz & Blues from local artists and many cover musicians. It’s free for Shelby County residents on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
