Swedish gothic/doom band Draconian are searching for a new female singer following the departure of Lisa Johansson in November of 2011. The band posted the following on its official Facebook Page:

"Since Lisa left the band we are as you know searching for a new brilliant singer to take her place. If you think you're woman enough to fill her shoes or if you know someone who could, please contact us. As we live and rehearse in Säffle in Sweden it's necessary that you either live close by or don't have a problem with traveling. ; ) This is a serious question so please, only serious suggestions. Hails!"

The band's latest LP "A Rose for the Apocalypse" was released in June 2011 through Napalm Records

INCANTATION BASSIST JOE LOMBARD COMMITS SUICIDE

TheSutras exclusive information indicates that Joey ”Fingers” Lombard, bassist for Pennsylvania-based death metal act Incantation, has committed suicide. Sources have made no indication how or why Lombard took his own life, but do confirm a funeral is to take place on Sunday.

Incantation has issued no official statement yet regarding this sad news.

Wormrot New Album "Dirge" Available For Free

Singapore grindcore band Wormrot have released their new album, Dirge, as a free download after it leaked on the internet recently.

The album will be released on physical formats on May 23rd in Europe, but due to the leak Earache and Wormrot decided to make the album available officially. The download is a 40MB ZIP file, containing all 25 tracks in 320kbps MP3 format. All tracks are DRM free.

Wormrot made the following statement:
"We realised that all you grinders were so excited for more 'Abuse' with DIRGE that it's leaked, so we said 'what the fuck, here it is' - for you free in MP3 format to download right now. Get a t-shirt while you're at it you fucking cheapskates! Nabey cheebai!"

Legendary Rock Guitarist Gary Moore Dead At 58

Former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore was found dead in a hotel room in Spain yesterday (06.02.11).
Guitarist Gary Moore has died at the age of 58.

The former Thin Lizzy rocker was found dead in his hotel room in the early hours of yesterday morning (06.02.11) by his girlfriend and it is thought he died after chocking on his own vomit after knocking back champagne and brandy while holidaying in the Costa del Sol.

An ambulance source told The Sun newspaper: "We believe the deceased had been drinking heavily."

Thin Lizzy's management said of the sad news: "Our thoughts go out to Gary's family at this time. Our memories of Gary and his contribution to Thin Lizzy and music in general will live on forever."

As well as starring in the band famous for such hits as 'The Boys Are Back In Town' and 'Whiskey In The Jar', he also had an illustrious solo career.

The Northern Irish-born star first started out at the age of 16 when he joined group Skid Row, which featured Phil Lynott as lead vocalist.

He then joined Thin Lizzy with Phil before moving on to pursue a successful solo career as a blues artist, releasing the hit albums 'Grinding Stone' and 'Lynott'.

Eric Bell, who Gary replaced in Thin Lizzy said he was "in shock" over his death.

He added: "I still can't believe it. He was so robust, he wasn't a rock casualty, he was a healthy guy. He was a superb player and a dedicated musician."

Scott Gorham - who is in the band's current line-up - said: "Playing with Gary during the Black Rose era was a great experience, he was a great player and a great guy. I will miss him."

Throughout his career he performed on stage with a range of major artists and in the late 1970s made a brief return to Thin Lizzy.

He leaves behind two sons and a daughter.

The low, grinding sound of some nightmarish creature comprised entirely of serrated blades, ripping buzzsaws, and oozing atmosphere soaked and dripping with depression and sorrow that is progressively getting louder and more undeniable? Hello, that is ULCERATE‘s THE DESTROYERS OF ALL.

THE DESTROYERS OF ALL is an extension of the matured sound ULCERATE developed on their second album EVERYTHING IS FIRE. And honestly, Ulcerate has honed this sound down to a “T”; at this point the band could almost certainly guarantee putting out a superior album every time. These kiwis have created another release of pure aggression, insane drumming, and depressive emotion. Still channeling a weird mix of riffing in the vein of IMMOLATION and GORGUTS in a firefight and transposed across CROWPATH‘s varied and layered drumming, ULCERATE is more concerned here with fine-tuning their excellent death metal arsenal. The song structures are more restrained, song lengths are perfected, and ULCERATE spends more time making the atmosphere on this album bleed battery-acid jazz. All the elements here are applied with precise tact and judgment, crafting an album that is meticulous yet brutal, emotional yet horrific.

ULCERATE is probably going to turn into a band like IMMOLATION or BOLT THROWER: you will know what’s going to be on each subsequent album and can expect the small change here or there, but the success of the albums will be in the band’s ability to keep the music fresh, varied, and absolutely necessary. And this is absolutely necessary. Easily an early contender for best album of 2011, THE DESTROYERS OF ALL is helping to craft ULCERATE‘s place amongst metal’s greatest.

The Most Metal Christmas Light Shows

Ever since the amazing display of Christmas lights set to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizards In Winter" that was so popular it was even used for a beer commercial, setting your lights to music has becomes more popular despite the need for technical know-how to pull it off. One might think that these displays are largely dominated by Trans-Siberian Orchestra songs - and they'd be right - but there are some people that are metal enough to have the balls to set them to heavier songs, making putting together this list worth the effort and sharing. So here is our top metal Christmas lights list, pulled from the Interwebs:

11. Metallica - "Enter Sandman"
Good song choice, but the light show could use a little more work. Don't worry, we're just getting warmed up here...

10. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Boughs of Holly"

Nice song, simple light show. It's pretty bright and I sure wouldn't want to be their neighbors though.

9. Metallica - "Of Wolf And Man"
Lights display is pretty simple, working with the driving beat of Metallica's "Of Wolf And Man." It's not the most inviting song for Christmas dinner, that's for sure.

8. Heavy Metal Christmas?
A decent light show to a song I can't quite place. A little help?

7. Metallica - "For Whom The Bell Tolls"
You really could not pick a better song for a distinct beat and guitar parts for such a light display. Still, the actual display could use some work to make it more interesting, but it's a solid #7.

6. Twisted Sister - "Let it Snow"
Great rockin' song on it's own, but it makes for a bit of a chaotic light show.

5. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Christmas Eve in Sarajevo"
"Christmas Eve in Sarajevo" is a nice song, but not all that metal. Both of the houses below feature a decent light show set to this song, however, so let's call it a tie.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Christmas Eve in Sarajevo" (another, this one from 2007)

4. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Nutcracker"
Now we're getting to the better light displays. Paired with an excellent TSO song, this is some top notch work.

3. Jeff Scott Soto - "We Wish You a Merry Xmas"
With an alternate chorus of "We wish you a metal Christmas," this modest setup is quite effective right up through the chaotic ending.

2. Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Wizards In Winter"
TSO's "Wizards in Winter" is likely the light show that really blew up this fad, if not started it all, and this video goes down as a classic.

1. Slayer - "Reign In Blood"
You just can't beat Slayer, and with the nice touch of the wall of red "raining blood," these folks have hands down created the most metal Christmas lights display by far!

The first of the two tracks, ‘Minnie The Moocher’, which we mostly remember as being that song out of The Blues Brothers. Dream Theater 'Bursting at the Seams' to Reveal New Drummer

Despite former drummer/founder Mike Portnoy's wishes that his departure would only be a hiatus, prog metal giants Dream Theater have selected a new drummer.

"I know that the big question is, 'Who is the new Dream Theater drummer?' I also realize that some people are getting frustrated waiting for the news," guitarist John Petrucci said in statement, holding back any hints about the new Dream Theater drummer's identity.

He continued, "Well, auditions went great and we do have someone but we are spending some time getting everything in order before making an official announcement. Let me just say that we are all incredibly excited about our choice and just bursting at the seams to let the world know!"

With a new drummer in tow, Dream Theater are slated to begin recording their follow-up to 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings' in January.

Original Saint Vitus Drummer Armando Acosta Dies At Age 58

Former TROUBLE drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson has issued the following statement about the passing of original Saint Vitus drummer Armando Acosta:

"Sadly, it has been confirmed that the original drummer for Saint Vitus, Armando Acosta, passed on Thanksgiving Day (November 25) at the age of 58. I had scheduled an interview with Henry Vasquez (current Saint Vitus drummer) for this Monday's show before anyone had known of the passing. Therefore, this Monday's (December 6th) edition will be a memorial for the late Armando Acosta. The interview with Vasquez will be re-scheduled for a later date."

"Armando was one of my dear friends from Saint Vitus. The last time I saw Armando was when he ate dinner at my house after a Saint Vitus show in Chicago. He had a very kind heart and was funny. I'm saddened by this news. He will be very missed by so many. May he rest in peace."
