Battersea Arts Centre Xmas Market 2011

The Tartelettes will be at the Battersea Arts Centre every Saturday this December from 10am to 6pm , for an amazing Christmas Market. Come and pick out your Christmas tree and warm up with a steaming cup of cider, mulled wine and some freshly roasted chestnuts. There will be live entertainment, carol singers, craft workshops and many stalls to pick up some Christmas presents. And of course, stop by The Tartelettes stall for some yummy cakes, macaroons and other delicious treats. Free entry - Lavender Hill, Battersea, SW11 5TN.

Last Sunday it was the 10th Anniversary of Dulwich Farmers' Market. Were you there? The Tartelettes did the birthday cake, a moist 3 layer Victoria sponge filled with strawberry jam, whipped cream and fresh fruit. Check it out!

Red Velvet Chocolate Cake

A Red Velvet Chocolate Cake for a customer order this weekend. Inside there were layers of cream cheese frosting and fresh berries. A coating of dyed red coconut and topped with more delicious fresh fruit. A 10" cake just like this one, will feed between 14 to 16 people and it is priced at £45.

I have been meaning for a while to post the picture that The Transmitter - a South East local magazine - used on their main photo shoot and now here it is. This was a Chocolate and Raspberry layer cake filled with a Strawberry Swiss Meringue Frosting and topped with fresh raspberries. The butterflies were made of white chocolate and the cherries on the top were sprayed with edible gold spray.

The Transmitter, a local magazine covering the South East of London has done a spread on The Tartelettes. The October issue was all about food and luckily with all the wonderful gastronomic influences we have locally we were rather spoiled for choice.

The Tartelettes were featured in their cakes section alongside two other local companies. Our mini fruit tartelette even made the front cover.

In the main spread we had a layered chocolate & raspberry sponge cake with a strawberry Swiss meringue frosting; mini fruit tartelettes with strawberry Swiss meringue cream; and glorified muffins (afternoon teacakes) with summer berries and dark chocolate with orange zest. Yum yum...

Going Apple crazy

Here at The Tartelettes HQ we are lucky enough to have quite a few apple and pear trees in the garden so we are rather spoiled for choice at this time of the year.

Apple crumble, apple pie, apple upside-down, tart tatin, apple cobbler, spiced apple cake and the list goes on and on and on... Below are just some examples of how we have used apples and pears this year to make and decorate some of our cakes. Enjoy.

On Saturday, 16th of July 2011 The Tartelettes will be at the Bandstand event in Battersea Park, South West London. This year's event takes inspiration from all things vintage. There will live music, DJ sets, dance spectacles, vintage stalls, dance lessons and creative workshops.

Market Day at West Norwood Feast, 3rd July 2011

The though of another market day is something that we eagerly await with great expectations. Preparations begin well before the big day. Searching for new cake ideas, tweaking existing ones, ordering ingredients, visualising how the stall will look and then the baking the night before are just some of the many other things we do.

On the actual day of the market there is the loading and unloading of the car ( and believe me we have loads of props), setting up and spending hours on the stall and so on. But no matter how physically and mentally exhausting the all processing is, nothing beats the feeling you get from seeing and hearing a satisfied customer commenting on how good this or that cake was. It makes it all worth it.

This month the West Norwood Feast Market was again a great success. The weather was beautiful and the atmosphere even more beautiful. Thanks once again to all our beloved customers and their support. See you all again next month.

The Tartelettes at the South Norwood Arts Festival

South Norwood Arts Festival is a community-led project run but the People of Portland Road in South Norwood. All of this week -13th to 19th June 2011, there will be events and activities to excite your senses and dazzle your mind. From theatre to visual art, to film, photography, poetry and music there is something for everyone, as well as plenty of opportunity to get your hands on and have a try. For more information about this event check out their programme here.

The Tartelettes will be setting up stall on Saturday, 18th of June 2011 in Station Road, South Norwood from 12pm to 5pm. There will be arts and crafts, fresh foods, gifts and local information stands. This will be also a perfect opportunity to pick up that last minute Father's Day presents too! So come and support this amazing event and try some of our new additions to our repertoire, such as the Pina Colada Cake and others. See you there.

Another smashing day at the West Norwood Market yesterday. Despite the weather our spirits were high and once again this market proved to be a success. By 2pm we sold out. Thanks to all the people that came out and braved the rain. For the lovely comments and support, it just encourages and motivates us to do more and better. West Norwood Food Fair - 1st May 2011

We had a fantastic time yesterday at the West Norwood Food Fair. By 2pm we had sold out all our cakes. The atmosphere was great, and our stall got lots of attention and positive feedback. Rockmount Primary School Spring and Craft Fair

We will be back in the kitchen soon, concocting something delicious for the Rockmount Primary School Spring and Craft Fair next weekend, Saturday 2nd of April. The Fair will be held in the Main Hall, accessible through the playground. Entry is through the Rockmount Road gate and there is plenty of free street parking. Doors open to the public at 12pm and the fair will last until 3pm.

Welcome to The Tartelettes, the "spiritual home" of homemade cakes. We love everything that has to do with food, especially cakes and delicious baked goodies! We bake with love and it shows. Our creations are homemade, all from scratch and individually created for you!

From cakes, cupcakes to homemade treats they all unique and special. With emphasis on fine and fresh ingredients, we hope to replicate well known and traditional cakes to the "not so ordinary". They will however have one thing in common: they will all be made from scratch, handcrafted, eye-catching and lip-smacking.

This site is not just about cakes, it's also about two women and mums that are following their dreams! This site will document our journey in the amazing world of food.
