I'm still trying to catch my breath after a busy December and holiday season. No sooner had we gotten home when six days later we were invited to go to the Army Navy game that was played in Washington D.C. for the first time. It was freezing, but we enjoyed ourselves because we were with friends we hadn't seen in a long time.   Army_navy_photo


Now I'm in full musical swing; I'm working hard to get ready for the wonderful projects we have planned for 2012. I'm excited about singing at Mariposa Restaurant. I'm looking forward to our
three night engagement during Valentine's weekend. Mariposa is a hidden gem on the third floor of Neiman-Marcus in the Village of Merrick Park in Coral Gables, Florida. The food is delicious and the service is sensational.

Happy Valentine's Day! This is one of my favorite holidays, being the "hopeful" romantic that I am. I love celebrating Love and would love for you to join me.

After all this traveling, and as much as we have enjoyed it, I am so glad to be home!  I have been longing for my little piece of paradise here on Key Biscayne.  It is such a comforting feeling to be in my own apartment among all my personal things and to see all our friends.  I am also happy to bring with me wonderful memories from our recent trip.  I will never forget our dear friends coming to visit us in Kauai, snorkeling in the cold water at Hanauma Bay, singing at the St. Regis Hotel in Princeville and the Kahala Hotel in Oahu. 

Memories aside, I am now ready to be “hands-on” with all my projects.  Sonríe has been receiving positive reviews from here in the United States as well as worldwide.  It also continues to be added to traditional radio stations and internet radio stations.  One such station is WERU in Main where Sonrie started off in their Top Ten New World Charts and is now  in the Top Ten Jazz Chart.  If you listen to music on Jango, you’ll hear me on stations that play Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall and even on stations that play Luis Miguel and Cristian Castro. 

We have three shows coming up in February for Valentine’s Weekend at the Mariposa Restaurant at Neiman Marcus.  If you haven’t been there, this is one great opportunity to try some fabulous food and enjoy my show featuring romantic favorites.  Michael, the manager, creates a delectable menu that leaves you wanting to come back for more.

In the meantime, I wish you all a very Happy Holiday season and a healthy and prosperous New Year.  May all your wishes come true.

I want to start off by telling you about our trip to the Far East. After a 13½-hour nonstop flight from L.A. we arrived in Shanghai. I was amazed to see such a beautiful modern city. Last time we visited China was about 28 years ago, all I saw was bicycles and a few buildings. Now you see lots of cars, soaring buildings and shopping centers filled with the latest fashions.

We then drove 2½ hours to West Lake which is located in the center of historic Hangzhou. They have many beautiful parks and lakes. We took a wonderful boat ride and saw an incredible sound and light show one evening. It also seems to be a place where couples go to have their wedding pictures taken. Next stop was Hong Kong where every night we saw a laser and light show at the harbor. This was a great place for shopping and wonderful food, particularly dim sum. I was thrilled to meet Keith Yip from Rock In Music while we were there.

Next we flew to Kota Kinabalu in the northwest coast of Borneo, Malaysia. The Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa was so awesome and romantic that the only time we left it was to see the orangutans. This was one of the most unique experiences of the trip because it’s very rare to see them in their natural habitat. I have to mention that every night was special because we were able to listen and dance to the best band I’ve heard in years!

Our last stop was Singapore. We stayed at the new Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I have never, in all my years of traveling, stayed in a hotel that was so breath-taking. It’s composed of three towers that are connected on the 57th floor by the longest infinity pool I have ever seen. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time swimming both in the afternoon and the evening. You have to understand that I rarely go into a swimming pool but I just had to enjoy this one. Other highlights included a visit to the Night Zoo (the only one in the world) and taking a ride on the biggest Ferris wheel in the world, the Singapore Flyer. For all of you who have asked me if I was performing on this trip, I can happily say, “Yes.” I did a very special performance here.

After a 15-hour nonstop flight from Singapore to L.A. and then another 5 hour flight to Miami, we were finally home but not for long. After three nights, we flew down to St. Thomas. Here I performed for the Rotary Club East’s Literacy for Life initiative to benefit the Early Learning Center at Antilles School. The Economics of Education states that each dollar invested in the pre-school education of three- and four-year-old children from low-income families will contribute to their success in school and, consequently, throughout life. Early childhood interventions of high quality have lasting effects on learning and motivation. I felt honored to be part of this extraordinary concept and event.

Since our return, I am back in the studio and hope to finish my vocals before I leave in July for our next adventure.
