Tom Cruise's Les Grossman movie still on the cards, R-rating targeted

We can’t be the only ones who assumed that the plans for a Les Grossman spin-off movie had been quietly dropped. Grossman was, of course, the character that Tom Cruise played under layers of disguise in Tropic Thunder. And even though we thought it was Robert Downey Jr that stole most of that film, rather than Cruise, it was the Grossman character that grabbed most of the attention.

Around the time, then, plans were confirmed to do a spin-off movie entirely devoted to Grossman, which Cruise expressed an interest in. Since then, the success of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol has reignited his star power somewhat, and he’s already shot Rock Of Ages and Jack Reacher movie One Shot.

With We Mortals Are, for director Doug Liman, already lined up too, the challenge appears to be finding a gap in Cruise’s schedule to make the Grossman movie.

Yet work is pressing ahead on the script. Collider nattered to Michael Bacall, the screenwriter on the project, and revealed that “Paramount has the draft and I gather that they’re pretty happy with it”, before confirming that “I think Tom Cruise probably has a lot of stuff on his plate right now”.

But if the schedule problems can be overcome, there may be room for optimism here. Bacall told Collider that “I wrote it for R because we had precedent with Tropic Thunder. It’s actually a pretty heartfelt story. I had a lot of meetings with Mr Cruise and Mr Stiller and it was crazy, it was a blast. I think we came up with some really fun stuff to give you an insight into who the guy is, so I’m hopeful that that’ll get up and running soon”.

We wouldn’t expect to see the film in cinemas before 2014 the rate things are going. But before then, Bacall has two films he’s contributed to the script to appearing in cinemas in the next month: Project X and 21 Jump Street. At least one of those is going to be very, very worth seeing.

Tom Cruise’s Porsche from ‘Risky Business’ fetches $49k

Washington: The Porsche 928 which Tom Cruise drove in ‘Risky Business’ has been sold for 49,000 dollars by a Beverly Hills car dealer. The car was being offered by the Volo Auto Museum outside Chicago in order to make room for a couple of new additions to its collection.

The 1979 coupe was used in several scenes in the 1983 film that launched Cruise’s career as a Hollywood A-lister and was reportedly the very car that the actor first learned to drive a manual transmission in, Fox News reported. According to NADA Guides, the average street price for a 1979 ‘928’ is just 7,800 dollars. The platinum metallic coupe has over 100,000 miles on the odometer.

Tom Cruise Film Lifts Imax to Six-Month High: Toronto Mover

the maker of giant- screen movie-projection systems, rose to a six-month high today after saying box-office revenue increased 45 percent this year through Feb. 12 from the same period in 2011.

Imax shares surged 8.5 percent to C$23.93 as of 11:54 a.m. in Toronto after the Mississauga, Ontario-based company said worldwide receipts at Imax cinemas totaled $55 million. About half of the sales came from the Tom Cruise movie “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol,” which has grossed $70 million at Imax theaters since its release in December.

Revenue “is well ahead of our expectations, given that we are forecasting $90 million in box office for the quarter,” Aravinda Galappatthige, an analyst at Canaccord Financial Corp., wrote in a note to clients. “Imax has a very busy film slate in March comprising of ‘The Lorax,’ ‘John Carter’ and the much- awaited ‘Hunger Games.’ Given this, we now believe IMAX may even reach $110 million.”

Imax tumbled 33 percent last year as it missed analysts’ average earnings estimates for the first three quarters amid concern 3-D movies may be losing popularity. The shares have rebounded 28 percent this year. Imax rose earlier to $24, the highest intraday price since July 26.

Tom Cruise's son rants about Patriots loss

Todd Krim, who had helped Cruise book DJ gigs, tweeted after Monday's game, "Sorry @TheConnorCruise maybe next year!!!" - unleashing the wrath of the aspiring DJ. According to an email forwarded by Mr Krim, the 17-year-old texted back, "That was a gay a** f***ing tweet ... U don't say s*** like that about my team the second they lose. Low".

Mr Krim claims he wrote back, "Umm ok ... Dude I was f***ing joking," to which Cruise responded, "That was f***ed". Cruise and Mr Krim were both in Indianapolis last weekend, where Cruise DJ'd DirecTV's Saturday night party. Mr Krim says the Twitter tantrum ended their professional relations, while sources close to Cruise say they'd parted ways weeks ago.

On Tuesday, Mr Krim e-mailed colleagues with a screen grab of Cruise's texts, saying, "I am no longer working with Connor Cruise. In fact, I am no longer speaking with (him) ... I refuse to be professionally (or even personally) associated with someone that engages in this sort of behaviour ... I just thought you should know who and what you're dealing with".

He called Cruise's comments, "highly offensive and what I consider homophobic ... after I jokingly tweeted about the Patriots losing". Mr Krim told the New York Post, "I did a lot for (Connor), and he was less than respectful and appreciative ... I made a joke, and let's just say his reaction was not what I expected. It's disappointing when you think someone is one way and they turn out to be another."

Cruise told the Post through his rep, "What I texted was unacceptable. It is not a reflection of who I am and what I feel, and it certainly won't happen again".

Tom Cruise film producers sued

Kevin Messick has accused Don Granger and Gary Levinsohn of breach of contract, after they "began excluding" him from meetings about the film. Mr Messick launched legal proceedings at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, asking for compensation.

Mr Levinsohn and Mr Granger have declined to comment. Mr Messick is asking for unspecified damages, his producer's fees and the right to participate in any upcoming sequels. According to court documents, he became involved in the project, which is based on a best-selling novel, in 2005.

He said he helped to develop the film, renew Paramount's options for the rights to the book, and participated in the search for a screenwriter. But, "beginning in July 2010, Granger and Levinsohn began excluding Messick from meetings with the screenwriter and the studio and withheld certain drafts of the screenplay for the picture," the complaint claims.

"If defendants had honoured the Joint Venture Agreement, Messick is informed and believes and therein alleges that Paramount Pictures would have hired Messick to be a producer of the Picture as well as any sequels, remakes, or derivative works based on the picture," it continues. Cruise has signed up to play Jack Reacher, the army-major-turned drifter who stars in a series of thrillers by the British author Lee Child.

Producers on Tom Cruise film sued for breach of contract

Kevin Messick, a producer on "Batman Forever" and "The Other Guys," alleges that Don Granger and Gary Levinsohn of Mutual Film Company edged him out of the film adaptation of Lee Child's best-selling novel.

Messick is asking for unspecified damages, his producer's fees and the rights to participate in any upcoming sequels. The franchise rights are important because Jack Reacher, the army-major-turned drifter that Cruise will play, is featured in multiple Child novels.

"If defendants had honored the Joint Venture Agreement, Messick is informed and believes and therein alleges that Paramount Pictures would have hired Messick to be a producer of the Picture as well as any sequels, remakes, or derivative works based on the picture," the suit reads.

Levinsohn and Granger declined to comment. Messick said that he first joined the project in 2005 and helped to develop the picture, renew Paramount's options for the film rights, and search for a screenwriter.

However, he claims that beginning in July 2010, Granger and Levinsohn began excluding him from meetings with the production team, but continued to assure him that he would remain involved in the project.

Messick claims that he eventually grew so frustrated at being shunted aside that he wrote an email to Granger in June 2011, stating, "I'm getting the message loud and clear that you have no intention of involving me with (the Picture) am I wrong?"

The next month, the studio announced that Cruise would star in the green-lit picture. Following that announcement, Granger claimed that he would work to get Messick credit, but said that he and his partner were not getting "our deal" on the film. He claimed that their failure to secure that deal nullified their oral agreement with Messick, according to the suit. Among other causes of action, the suit alleges breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and fraud.

Cruise was nominated for his lead performances in “Born on the Fourth of July” and “Jerry Maguire.” He also was nominated for his supporting role in “Magnolia.” Cruise was recently seen in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and will be seen next in “Rock of Ages.” His other film credits include “Tropic Thunder,” “War of the Worlds,” “Collateral,” “Minority Report,” “A Few Good Men,” “Rain Man,” “The Color of Money” and “Top Gun.”

Berry won an Oscar® in 2001 for her lead performance in “Monster’s Ball.” She was recently seen in “New Year’s Eve” and will be seen next opposite Tom Hanks and Hugh Grant in “Cloud Atlas.” Berry’s other film credits include “Frankie & Alice,” “Things We Lost in the Fire,” “Die Another Day,” “Swordfish,” and the first three “X-Men” films.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's daughter Isabella set to marry

The pair are reportedly set to announce their engagement, UK newspaper the Daily Mirror reports. According to the paper Frencher, 23, has already spoken to Isabella's father Tom Cruise about proposing.

A source told the paper: "Tom and Nicole think Eddie is a great kid, and couldn’t be happier. The fact that he is a Scientologist is obviously a boon, too – they’ll be Scientology royalty. "Eddie and Bella have been dating for some time but have deliberately kept their romance under wraps. The couple decided to go public at (her brother) Connor’s birthday party recently because Eddie and Bella have discussed marriage."

The source added: "They won’t be getting married anytime soon but they are getting pretty serious very quickly."The daughter of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman has also tweeted a snap of what appears to be an engagement ring, perhaps hoping that Frencher will be paying close attention.

She tweeted: "I adore this! #yesplease." The post was later removed. Isabella, 19, stepped out with her beau at her brother's birthday party in Los Angeles two weeks ago. Frencher is a member of the indie music group, ae (pronounced ‘ay’) with band mate Adam Cude.

According to his "About Myself" section on OurSites.org, Frencher writes: "My dad introduced me to Scientology. He has been a Scientologist since before I was born, so I have been a Scientologist all my life."

Connor and Isabella have lived with father Tom since his high-profile divorce from their mother Nicole Kidman in 2001. Throughout their childhood, they were home-schooled and following the controversial religion Scientology, just like their father. In an interview two years ago, Kidman revealed her sadness that their children had chosen to live with their father instead of her.

Kidman now splits her time between Australia, LA and Nashville, Tennessee with husband Keith Urban and their two daughters Sunday and Faith. She said: "They live with Tom, which was their choice. I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?

Was Tom Cruise's Assistant a Spy for the Church of Scientology?

The Village Voice posted a very interesting article last week about how the Church of Scientology’s leader had Tom Cruise’s assistant (another Scientologist) provide him with daily reports on the actor's life.

The spying started once Tom began seeing Nicole Kidman and he began to slowly cut ties with the church at the persistence of his soon-to-be bride and her parents. Unhappy to let a big star (and obvious obsession) pull away, the church's leader planted a spy to ensure that their aggressive plan to coax him back was tailored according to whatever weaknesses or problems Cruise had been facing.

So basically they spied on him, manipulated him, and then brainwashed him. Fun times!

The Church's defected second-highest ranking executive participated in these daily briefing calls and alleges Tom's assistant would tell him what was "happening with Nic [Nicole Kidman], what was happening in the household, and what was happening between Tom and Steven Spielberg." The reporting began in the early 1990s.

See, this is what happens when you roll with the Scientologists. You get your phone bugged, you are consistently followed around town by a non-descript white moving van, and someone goes through your trash. You can’t even trust your assistant.

Is this a church you would want to call you own?

Maybe I am just old school. I prefer a church where I only have to show up on Sundays or maybe even just major holidays. No one asks questions, they are just happy you are there and hopeful you will drop a large chuck of change in the offertory basket. I prefer a relationship with my Priest that is distant and cordial. They don’t need to know that I watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians while running on my treadmill or that sometimes I watch Jersey Shore while my daughter plays with her blocks beside me. I like them to think I pray regularly and spend all my free time giving back to others. Why bother them with the reality that I usually reserve praying for finding parking spots and sometimes when faced with attending an 8:00 am service or sleeping in my pillow usually wins?

Tom Cruise wants mansion in Malta like Becks

Tom Cruise is following in the footsteps of his Beverly Hills neighbour David Beckham by buying a mansion on the island of Malta. However, the 49-year-old actor has set his estate agents a daunting task, as he wants a living room that measures 2,000sq ft.

The ‘Mission Impossible’ star has hired Milan property firm Allessandro Proto Consulting, which had helped him find homes in London and Italy, to find a “suitable residence” on the Mediterranean island.

“Tom always wants to buy a new property to his exact specifications, even if that entails knocking down a few walls,” a leading daily has quoted a source as saying. Apparently, Cruise fell in love with the island last year when he visited Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who were renting Guarena Palace, an 18th-century fortress-like villa in Qrendi, while Pitt was filming ‘World War Z’. The source also revealed that Malta could turn out to be the location for two sci-fi thrillers Cruise is planning to shoot this year, including ‘We Mortals Are’.

“Tom likes the idea of having both a vacation home for his family and a permanent working residence in a region noted for its great location backdrops and natural light,” the source said. “He almost certainly wants the living area so it can also be used as a meeting and entertaining room,” the source added. His wife Katie Holmes, 33, and their daughter Suri, six, are also said to have fallen in love with Malta.
