Offset nearly came to blows with a driver in Monaco after witnessing what multiple people described as aggressive behavior toward women.

The Atlanta rapper appeared heated as he confronted the driver, who was allegedly grabbing women by the neck while attempting to remove them from a vehicle. According to witnesses at the scene, the driver was “manhandling women aggressively, pulling their hair, and trying to get them out of his car.”

Footage caught by TMZ shows Set confronting the man outside of a black van in front of a crowd. During the heated exchange, the former Migos rapper didn’t hold back.

“You touching women, you putting your hands on women? You a b*tch.”

The Set It Off rapper then issued a warning, making it clear he wasn’t going to tolerate that kind of behavior, “He’s grabbing the girls by their neck… If he grab one more girl like that, I’mma beat him the f*ck up.”

It’s unclear whether law enforcement was ever called to the scene, but Offset was clearly standing on business when it came to defending the women involved.

Outside of the incident, the rapper has largely stayed out the way of drama while recovering from a gunshot wound back in April. Since then, he has returned to performing, recently making stops in Dubai, France, and Spain as part of his overseas run.

Offset’s mother previously spoke about her son’s resilience after the shooting, praising his determination to get back to work.

“I don’t typically address things about my son on social media. I learned a long time ago that facts rarely survive the internet, and I refuse to feed that machine… But today, I have to speak. Six days ago, my son was shot. Four days later, he was released from the hospital. Last night he was on stage doing what he loves to do. He is a miracle walking.”

J.R. Writer is taking legal action against Universal Music Group, alleging the company has failed to pay him master and publishing royalties.

Born Juan Rusty Brito, the Harlem rapper and songwriter is seeking compensation for his work on records by Dipset members Cam’ron and Juelz Santana. Writer claims he has not received his share of royalties tied to Cam’s “Shake” and Juelz Santana’s “Squalie,” despite being credited on both records.

A longtime affiliate of Dipset, Writer played a key role in the collective’s rise during the early 2000s. “Shake” appeared on Killa’s classic Purple Haze album, while “Squalie” was featured on Satana’s debut project, From Me to U.

According to the lawsuit, Writer is credited as both a featured artist and co-writer on the songs. However, he alleges that Universal Music Group has not paid him any master or publishing royalties connected to the records. The company reportedly told Writer that approval from either the artist or the label was required before payments could be issued.

Writer disputes that position, arguing that his existing songwriting and performance credits should be sufficient proof of ownership and entitlement to compensation.

Notably, the songwriter says he has already received royalty payments for both songs through ASCAP and SoundExchange, further supporting his claim that he is owed additional compensation.

Drake’s latest album, ICEMAN, continues to dominate the charts, securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week.

Love it or hate it, ICEMAN has lived up to the hype. According to Billboard, the OVO rapper’s latest project earned an additional 171,000 album-equivalent units in its third week, helping it remain atop the chart.

The achievement puts Drizzy one week away from having ICEMAN become the longest-running No. 1 album of 2026. With three consecutive weeks at the top, the project is currently tied with Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide and BTS’ ARIRANG for the longest chart-topping run of the year.

The milestone also allows Drake to tie Adele with 40 total weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving him the ninth-most weeks atop the chart in the publications history.

ICEMAN is not the only release from Drake’s recent trilogy making noise. His R&B-focused project, HABIBTI, is project to land at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 this week after moving 41,000 album-equivalent units in its third week. Meanwhile, the trilogy’s third installment, MAID OF HONOUR, has struggled to gain similar traction and is currently not charting, according to Billboard.

The success of ICEMAN has been fueled by fan-favorite records such as “Cheetah Print” featuring Sexyy Red, “Outside Tweaking,” which Drake’s first collaboration with Stunna Sandy. and “Stuck.”

With ICEMAN continuing to post strong numbers and HABIBTI remaining in the Top 10, Drake’s latest run proves he still has the industry on lock.

After four years of legal back-and-forth, DaBaby has reached a settlement in the lawsuit stemming from his bowling alley squabble in 2022.

The Charlotte rapper has been facing an ongoing lawsuit filed by Brandon Bill$, the brother of his ex-girlfriend, Dani Leigh. Bill$ accused Baby of assault and battery following a confrontation at a Los Angeles bowling alley.

During a night out with his entourage, the Suge rapper and Bill$ crossed paths, leading to a heated exchange that quickly turned physical. Video from the incident appeared to show DaBaby throwing the first punch before members of his crew joined the altercation and began attacking Bills.

The fight led to a lawsuit, with Bills seeking damages from injuries he allegedly sustained during the incident. Filing indicates the case is expected to be thrown away within 45 days.

During a deposition last month, it was revealed that Baby allegedly told Bill$ he wanted to “slap” him before the confrontation went left.

“I just want to slap you up a bit. I just want to slap you around a little bit.”

Bill$’ sister, Dani Leigh, shares a daughter with DaBaby. Following the bowling alley incident, the singer publicly criticized the rapper in a Instagram Story.

Jamaica suffered an islandwide electrical blackout at the start of last weekend, knocking out power to all customers for more than two hours. Officials there are criticizing the blackout after power was restored as the weekend rolled on.

As reported by the Jamaica Gleaner, the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS), which powers the entire island, says that all utility customers lost power last Friday (June 5) at around 9 PM local time.

According to statements from JPS, a system failure caused the blackout, and those systems were still recovering from damage sustained during Hurricane Melissa last October.

Hugh Grant, CEO of the JPS, spoke with journalists in the scramble to restore power in a phased restoration project.

“The thing that we have to learn from right now is what transpired that caused this cascading effect whereby as a result of lightning strikes in one area of the grid, we have a cascading effect of generating outages across the grid,” Grant said at a press conference.

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz is demanding more answers from the JPS to prevent such a thing from happening in the future.

“Something that started in Kingston ended up making its way all the way through to [the] western end of the island. The system should have been in a position where if one area went down, it should not have caused the entire system to go down,” Vaz said at a press conference.

JPS supplies power to over 700,000 customers, and the island houses a population of nearly 2.8 million.

Anthony J. Moore works as both a truck driver and preacher, and it appears a bit of divine timing helped save a young woman from a harrowing situation. According to a report, Anthony J. Moore happened to be driving his truck down a South Carolina roadway and seemingly headed off an alleged attempted kidnapping in the process.

As reported by the Associated Press, Anthony J. Moore, 53, was driving along a road last week (June 5) in Aiken County when he happened across a young Black woman in handcuffs running in his path while another car waited on the side. The entire ordeal was caught on Moore’s dashboard camera.

Moore was told by the woman that the man was trying to kidnap her and asked him to help her get free. The gentleman in the other vehicle reportedly flashed a badge, but according to Moore, he appeared angry and drove off to the town of New Ellenton.

I just see it as a divine assignment from God, because had not I been there with the dashcam … they probably wouldn’t have caught the footage that needed to be catched,” Moore told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “It was another assignment from God, a special assignment from God. That a life needed to be saved

Moore added in an interview with the Associated Press that had he been on that road just a minute earlier, he wouldn’t have seen the young woman.

According to a report from Augusta, Georgia news outlets WRDW/WAGT, authorities arrested Jonathan Willard, 39, of New Ellenton. He is currently being held without bond at the Aiken County Detention Center on one count each of kidnapping and impersonation of a law enforcement officer.

Anthony J. Moore is the pastor of Amazing Grace Ministries in Denmark, South Carolina. The outlet added that Moore is also a 27-year Army veteran, and officiates the church with his wife, Betty, who serves as an associate pastor.

Nichelle Nichols, known to many Star Trek fans as Lt. Nyota Uhura, passed away at the age of 89 in 2022 in New Mexico. Nichelle Nichols’ family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a medical center, with the jury awarding them $13 million in the process.

As reported by local news outlet KOAT, the family of Nichelle Nichols filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Gila Medical Center in Silver City, New Mexico, in 2025. The suit alleges that the center was negligent in their treatment of Nichols’ heart condition, writing in the suit that the center “fostered an environment which prevented Ms. Nichols from being diagnosed and treated properly.”

Lisa Curtis, an attorney for the family, wrote in a statement, “Nichelle Nichols had a new heart condition, and the great people that were taking care of her sent her to the emergency room to be diagnosed. They did a terrible job of that.”

Curtis added that the center had an opportunity to assist Nichols, but instead didn’t take proper measures to ensure her the care she needed regarding her heart condition.

“So, she needed to see somebody that could diagnose her and treat her. They didn’t transfer her to Las Cruces. It’s just a trip down I-25. It should have been an easy call, but the problem is a hospital [with] very poor policies for that,” Curtis said.

Nichols was born Grace Dell Nichols on Dec. 28, 1932 in the Chicago suburb of Robbins, Illinois. She began her career in entertainment as a teenager and was a touring singer with Duke Ellington.

According to reports, lawyers for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have directed employees to remove President Donald Trump’s name from signs and other materials bearing his title to comply with a judge’s order. The deadline for everything to be done is June 12 – two days before Trump’s birthday.

The memo from the center’s legal counsel, which was issued June 4, asked employees to change email signatures to reflect “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,” or “Kennedy Center.”

The initial opinion was made by U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper on May 29, directing that Trump’s name be removed, stating that it was added illegally. He also stated that Trump’s board of trustees’ vote last December to rename the institution the “Trump-Kennedy Center” violated the 1964 federal law, which created the center, arguing that “the Kennedy Center must be named for, and is meant to honor, President Kennedy alone.”

Judge Cooper also overturned Trump’s planned two-year closure of the Kennedy Center in July to begin major renovations. Counsel for the Kennedy Center said that the ruling wasn’t declaring the closure illegal, it felt the vote to close “inappropriate and that any subsequent vote must take more information into account.”

In a statement, the Kennedy Center’s Vice President of Public Relations, Roma Daravi, said, “We are complying with the court’s order while evaluating all legal options to preserve this revitalization and recognize President Trump’s leadership.” 

Trump lashed out at Cooper after the ruling on social media, claiming that it was “impossible for me to be treated fairly,” tying the judge to other rulings blocking Trump’s executive moves, such as the Supreme Court’s rejection of his broad tariffs.

It’s the latest setback for Trump, with the news coming in the wake of several artists named to perform at a “Freedom 250” concert, including Young MC and Morris Day and the Time, disavowing any involvement.

Early on Friday morning (June 5), the Senate passed legislation that will provide $70 billion in funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol for the remainder of President Donald Trump’s second term in office.

The vote was 52-47, with Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska being the lone Republican to join the Democrats in opposing it, save for Michael Bennett of Colorado, who missed the vote. The bill is expected to go before the House of Representatives, who are expected to pass it. Funding is to last through 2028.

The bill had been held up by Democrats who fought to have more restrictions placed on ICE and Border Patrol agents, especially after the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis earlier this year. They blocked the funding for months, even with the government entering a partial shutdown.

On the surface, it seems like a victory for Trump, but the battle to get the funding bill passed exposed some fractures within the current body of congressional Republicans. The conflict was centered on the proposed $1,776 billion “anti-weaponization” fund from the Department of Justice. 

The fund was seen as money promised to allies of Trump who were involved in the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, and some Republicans were opposed, including Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, who had introduced an amendment to the immigration bill dictating that the money go to law enforcement officials affected by the attack on the Capitol. That was shot down before the final vote.

“This would have been done several hours ago if we weren’t having to deal with some of the issues around the fund,” said Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota. Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has labeled the fund a liability for the GOP in a year where midterm elections are key, despite acting Attorney General Todd Blanche saying the fund was largely inoperative.

Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 concert series is a wrap after damn near all of the artists bowed out, but don’t worry, MAGA faithful, he has a backup plan, himself, and an 83-year-old country singer.

Trump announced on Truth Social Thursday that he is pivoting to a campaign-style rally event he claims will be “Rally to End All Rallies,” taking place on June 24 in Washington, D.C., one day before the struggle Great American State Fair concert series was supposed to begin.

The announcement of the “Greatest Rally Ever” comes after Freedom 250 fell apart, after most of the headliners dropped out after they claimed they had no idea the event had political ties to Trump.

Milli Vanilli singer Fab Morvan was the latest act to drop out, joining the Commodores, Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Young MC, and Morris Day and The Time.

A quick check of the festival’s website shows that no performers are listed.

After the artists began dropping out, an incensed Trump woke from one of his many naps to vent on Truth Social, writing,

“I understand Artists are getting ‘the yips’ having to do with their performance,” Orange Mussoliini added that he was thinking of replacing “these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists'” with himself, “the man who some say is the Greatest President in History.”

“We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY, for 250, instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain,” he continued in his post he shared last weekend.

Donald Trump Is Turning To an Old Friend As A Replacement

It appears he went through with that plan, but he won’t be alone; joining him will be Country singer Lee Greenwood, best known for Trump’s favorite rally anthem “God Bless the U.S.A.,” a song he has been performing at Trump rallies since 2016, and one of the few songs that Trump isn’t banned from using.

Lee also doesn’t have any other hits besides different variations of that same song.

Also performing classical selections is tenor Christopher Macchio, whom Trump had the audcaity to compare to the late Luciano Pavarotti.

Even though the website lists zero acts on the bill, Flo Rida, Vanilla Ice, and Freedom Williams of C+C Music Factory have yet to withdraw from Freedom 250.

There’s still time.

It’s looking like America’s big birthday is going to be a colossal flop, and it’s all thanks to Donald Trump.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio was caught lying about Donald Trump sleeping in his presence during his ass-kissing sessions, oops, we mean cabinet meetings.

During a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing where Rubio was testifying on the FY2027 State Department budget request, a tense exchange between Rep. Ted Lieu and the Secretary of State broke out over President Donald Trump’s health.

Rep. Ted Lieu Came With Receipts In The Form of Multiple Videos

Lieu got the ball rolling when he announced that he was going to play a video of Donald Trump appearing to be asleep while Marco Rubio is talking, getting a loud “Oh My God” from the Secretary of State.

Rep. Lieu followed up on the video by asking Rubio whether he had ever seen Trump sleeping during meetings.

“That’s false. That’s false. I’ve never seen him fall asleep,” Rubio told Lieu, while squeezing in the nugget that Donald Trump doesn’t sleep, and sometimes calls him, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Well, Lieu then tells Rubio that he just “lied to Congress” and then played another video from a meeting that was held in May with Donald Trump sitting next to him, resting his eyes, aka sleeping.

“You are literally talking about issues of war and peace, and Donald Trump is sleeping right next to you,” Lieu said to Rubio.

“No, he’s not,” Rubio barked back.

You think Lieu was done? Nope, he had more receipts. He then played a video of a French news broadcast reporting on Trump at the May 25 Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, seemingly dozing off while Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was bloviating.

“You’re lying consistently to Congress,” Lieu said to Rubio.

Rubio responded, claiming Trump “works inhumane hours,” admitting that Orange Mussolini doesn’t sleep on overseas flights and wanders around looking for someone to talk to. “I assure you, this is not a president that sleeps or is cognitively impaired in any way, shape, or form,” Rubio said.

If you’re trying to make a case for someone who is perfectly healthy, admitting they are behaving like a geriatric person in decline isn’t going to help your argument.

The full statement revealed that Pelley saw his firing as part of a larger fall from grace for CBS as Paramount CBS owner David Ellison is “apparently trying to curry a moment of favor with the Trump administration.” Ellison is awaiting federal approval for his $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Pelley also dropped shocking allegations. “New management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story,” he wrote. “I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified. To date, in every case, I have managed to ignore these instructions or refuse them.”

The veteran anchor also claimed that one episode barely made it on air after mismanagement, and that politicians appearing on 60 Minutes could choose who’d conduct their interviews – a practice that violates basic journalism ethical standards.

Bilton announced the firing “with cause” in a statement, claiming that Pelley put on a “performative display of hostility” toward him. According to reporting from Deadline, Pelley reportedly called out Bilton and the absent Weiss at their first meeting with other 60 Minutes staff in-person and remotely.

“She has no qualifications for her job; you have slender qualifications for this job,” Pelley said to Bilton. “The changes that she’s made at the Evening News have been catastrophic, so why should we expect that any of this is going to be any better?”

Pelley closed his statement, writing that he hoped “for a day when sanity, competence, and courage return.” He is
reportedly seeking advice from attorney Bryan Freedman. Freedman was a key figure in obtaining hefty compensation for Megyn Kelly, Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon and Tucker Carlson from their respective legacy media outlets.

Blogger Milagro “Gramz” Cooper’s mouth and fingers were clearly writing checks she can’t afford to cash based on her reaction after a judge reinstated Megan Thee Stallion’s $75,000 jury verdict against her.

TMZ exclusively reports that Cooper quickly told a judge to hold up, claiming that “forcing her” to pay it would impose a major financial burden, so she asked the judge to pause the payments while she battles the charges in a higher court.

According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, Milagro wants to delay payment while she appeals the ruling from the lower court. She argues there are still major issues with the case that should be reviewed.

Milagro tells the court she’s a self-employed media commentator and content creator whose income can fluctuate month to month. She says she does not have substantial liquid assets and lacks the financial resources needed to immediately satisfy the judgment or post a full supersedeas bond.

The celebrity gossip site reports that Gramz argues she supports her household, which includes two minor children, and notes that if she has to pay Megan Thee Stallion immediately, it could put a financial strain on her family.

She is pleading with the judge to pause any payment to the Houston rapper until the appeal is decided.

As expected, Megan and her legal team are completely against this request after successfully convincing a jury to side with Thee Stallion in her lawsuit against Gramz after she shared some posts related to Tory Lanez following the aftermath of the shooting.

Well, she should have thought about that before she got to typing and basically defaming the rapper, making her one of the many cases that these celebs are not playing when you drop baseless claims about them on the internet.

Cassie Ventura is currently still embroiled in a legal matter connected to her ex Sean “Diddy” Combs, and it’s been reported that she has left the country. After receiving a $20 million payout from Combs, Cassie said in a court declaration filed this month that she has no intentions of moving back to the United States.

As reported by TMZ, Cassie communicated in a court declaration filed on May 1 that she and her husband, Alex Fine, and their children are residing in an undisclosed location.

“I reside outside of the United States. I do not intend to move back to the United States,” read a portion of the court document. She added, “I am a citizen of the United States. I am not a resident of the State of California.”

The declaration is in connection with Ventura’s ongoing lawsuit against male escort Clayton Howard, who claimed that he got the singer pregnant and that she had an abortion, among other claims.

In a new response, Ventura shared that Howard sent her husband a message of support connected to her coming forward against Combs.

“A lot of what I saw really bothered me and because homie was f*cked up. But I knew she was in love and wouldn’t leave despite being beaten up and punch in the chest in hotel rooms, choked and forced into shit I don’t wanna embarrass anyone with, I’m dam happy you saved her,” read a part of the alleged text from Howard to Fine.

Tyler, The Creator and DJ Drama linked up for the DJ’s Gangsta Grillz Podcast debut episode, discussing a wide variety of topics including T’s rise as a rapper in the Odd Future camp, his success as a soloist, his creative endeavors, and more.

The pair bumped into a conversation about JAŸ-Z regarding the Brooklyn billionaire’s interest in Odd Future, which had the entire music world ablaze from the mid-2000s all the way up through 2023.

Tyler told Drama that Hov invited the gang to one of his Los Angeles properties to discuss the potential of being signed over a meal of tacos.

That n*gga invited us to one of his L.A. homes, and we just ate tacos. I honestly don’t remember much,” Tyler said. “He wanted to sign us. I was like, ‘Man, you’re cool,’ I was like, ‘No, I just want creative control and to do everything.'”

Tyler also mentioned that Sean “Diddy” Combs was also interested in signing Odd Future, despite all the controversy the collective garnered for their over-the-top lyrics and videos.

In the mystery song, she raps, “All that wifey s*** is dead/ Put that s*** to bed.” She continues, “I’mma make ’em beg/ When I want some head.”

The song is more than likely a part of the upcoming project, Thee House of Tina: Act III, in which she also shared her feature wishlist, comprising Jay-Z, Hayley Williams, Monaleo, Cardi B, Doechii, Don Toliver, Tink, and a posthumous pairing with Pimp C.

The ongoing conflict in Iran has apparently strained the relationship between President Donald Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with evidence of that strain being present in a phone call between the two leaders that was filled with tension and expletives.

According to reports, which cited two American officials and a third source close to the conversation, Trump ripped Netanyahu in what one official termed was one of the worst calls between the two since Trump’s return to office.
The other official described Netanyahu as being “steamrolled” during the call.

“You’re f——g crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your a—. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,” Trump reportedly yelled at Netanyahu, referring to his public support of the prime minister during his trial for corruption.

Another of the American officials noted that Trump was “pissed” and yelled at Netanyahu, “What the f— are you doing?” Trump has been irate as Iran walked away from negotiations on Monday (June 1) to end the fighting, citing Israel’s announced plans for further attacks in Lebanon against the Hezbollah terror organization.

Israel has been expanding its military operations in southern Lebanon since the U.S. initiated strikes against Iran, and had threatened direct strikes on the capital of Beirut. Trump expressed dismay over the mounting civilian casualties inflicted by the Israeli military and objected to one strike that leveled a building just to take out one Hezbollah commander.

Netanyahu would promise in a statement after the call that operations in southern Lebanon would continue, but that Israel wouldn’t attack Beirut unless Hezbollah struck Israel again. “Our position remains the same,” the prime minister wrote. In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that talks with Iran were “continuing, at a rapid pace.”

Iran has demanded that Israel cease attacking Lebanon entirely as one of its conditions to stop fighting with Israel and the U.S. The United Nations Security Council has called on both nations to end the fighting, which began Feb. 28.

Incarcerated rapper Tory Lanez is asking a federal judge for a restraining order against a prison guard he claims is trying to move him to a dangerous section of the prison where he is currently incarcerated.

TMZ exclusively reports Canadian Yosemite Sam, aka Tory Lanez, who is currently being held at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, is “dealing with ongoing threats, intimidation, and harassment … causing him to fear for his life.”

According to the court documents obtained by the celebrity gossip site, Lanez’s team claims the guard wants to ship him to a “dangerous housing unit,” and that the guard mentioned last year’s near-fatal stabbing incident involving the “Say It” crafter in a “threatening manner.”

In the incident, Lanez was stabbed 14 times and suffered two collapsed lungs. Lanez sued the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the warden, as well as correction officers for $100 million. In the lawsuit, Lanez claimed his cellmate, who stabbed him, had a “violent history” and never should have been housed with him.

Per TMZ:

In his new filings, Tory asks the court to approve the restraining order to prevent him from being harmed any further. Tory says he nearly lost his life in the stabbing, which not only left him with physical injuries but also emotional ones.

On Saturday night (May 30), a mandatory curfew up to a half-mile around the federal detention center outside of Newark, New Jersey known as Delaney Hall was enacted by the city’s mayor, Ras Baraka. It was in response to heightened conflict between federal law enforcement and protesters outside the facilty.

Newark Police Department officers and Essex County Sheriff’s deputies began to clear protesters away from Delaney Hall, with most leaving by midnight. In a statement, the mayor’s office stated that the curfew “will remain in effect nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice,” with vehicle access allowed only for those on official business.

Protesters have gathered outside Delaney Hall in increasing numbers within the past few weeks after detainees began a hunger strike over living conditions and mistreatment by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel. 

Late Saturday night marked a flashpoint as a few protesters turned over barricades outside of Delaney Hall and threw projectiles while scuffling with law enforcement, resulting in at least six arrests. Officers were seen, in turn, tackling protesters and spraying them with chemical irritants and in one case beating a fleeing protester with batons.

Governor Mikie Sherrill addressed the situation and curfew in a press conference on Sunday (May 31), pleading for calm. “It has grown unsafe, and that’s completely unacceptable,” the Democratic governor said. “We need to take this opportunity to lower the temperature,” adding that “I refuse to give ICE an excuse to surge into our communities,” singling out those arrested and stating that they were distracting from the goal of gaining better conditions for those in Delaney Hall.

Mayor Baraka also defended his decision to install the curfew in a statement, saying that criticisms have “mischaracterized” the intent behind the move. “In Newark, it will always be our job to restore order, disrupt violence, and protect the people of our city and we must do so whether we agree with their actions or not,” he said. 

Baraka has been one of the Democrat lawmakers who previously was targeted by the Department of Homeland Security after seeking to visit Delaney Hall, resulting in being charged with trespassing last year. Those charges would
be thrown out by a judge last May.

Netflix’s A Different World sequel series has a release date and a new teaser trailer.

The streaming service announced that its sequel series to the iconic comedy sitcom A Different World launches on September 24, 2026.

The date is significant because it marks 39 years since the original show aired. A Different World was also a direct spin-off of The Cosby Show.

The single-camera series, which will have 10 episodes, will not only feature a new cast of characters but also OGs from the original show.

Netflix shared a teaser featuring the series star, Maleah Joi Moon; Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Hillman College royalty; Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy); and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison). The dead giveaway that she is the seed of Whitley and Dwayne is the signature flip-up glasses that her dad was best known for wearing.

In the freestyle, Jay-Z also took aim at Nicki Minaj, who has been consistently insulting the Hip-Hop icon and his wife, R&B superstar Beyonce: “That lady back on that stuff, she sounds like she’s in love with ’em. Her Ken can’t even… pick they kid… enough of them. A rapper can’t be my opp, I got MAGA Republicans.”
