This is a simple yet flavorful breakfast sausage recipe. Best of all it's fresh and free of additives or chemicals. Try it alone or thrown into your morning omelette I also like to eat it crumpled over a nice wild field salad . Enjoy!

Who says we have to make granola bars just for the kids? So I made these grain free granola bars, all grown up! Now, don't get too excited, they're not soaked in whisky or anything. They do however, pack a bit of punch with just enough curry powder to leave a little tingle on your tongue. The truth is, your kids just might love these too. Mine ate them up about as fast as I could pull them <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/PYMLS2eDk7Q" height="1" width="1"/>

Apple, Butternut Squash & Bacon (or Pecan) Breakfast Hash (Gaps/Paleo/Vegan options)

I LOVE breakfast hash. It's so hearty, savory and now it's even subtly sweet. At least this one is. I've taken my old 'hash recipe' and revamped it. With the addition of GAPS friendly [pastured, unsmoked bacon] or [salt cured, unsmoked] prosciutto and apples, this hash is an even more satisfying breakfast than the first one. Find out how to make your own unsmoked, honey sweetened bacon...

That can't be right!!!" you say. But indeed it is; it's true! ALL grains contain gluten.

There is much confusion surrounding the enigma that we call 'Gluten'. This is largely because almost all of the data that the majority of the medical community is going on has not been revisited or updated in as much as 60 YEARS. Now that's some old information! And from the looks of it there are no <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/g4vZv-aqoXs" height="1" width="1"/>

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://urbanposer.blogspot.com/2012/01/what-theres-no-such-thing-as-gluten_02.html" title="What! Welcome to what might be your very first 'Virtual Progressive Dinner'. The wonderful and talented bloggers from Paleo Parents and Multiply Delicious, were gracious enough to ask me to join them in planning a New Years Eve Menu! I'm starting off with the main course (because I'm backwards that way). Then we'll move on to the scrumptious appetizer by Heather from Multiply Delicious and <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/iE5A-hWeq2E" height="1" width="1"/>

White wine & Pecan Cashew Cheese Ball (GAPS, Paleo, Vegan)

Ok, here it is the mighty CHESSE BALL! A cashew cheese ball that is... and it IS awesome. It's dairy free and completely vegan. I have seasoned this one with crispy shallots, garlic and my personal favorite...dry white wine. (You could easily replace the wine with water if you prefer. White wine is GAPS friendly and some Paleo people have it in moderation)

This is one of our family FAVORITES. It's as though, when I make this I can do no wrong! The nest are actually quite fun to make too. Don't be daunted by what seems like lengthy instructions. They are pretty easy to make and worth the effort for a special occasion breakfast. Which apparently means, everyday is a 'special occasion' in my house. We make these at least once a week.

'Baby it's cold outside', and even if it's not (like here in Texas) you can still enjoy a nice warm cup of hot cocoa with a big huge marshmallow on top.

I remember my mother making different homemade hot cocoa mixes when I was younger. She would keep the mixes in tins, readily avaiable to warm our freezing little bodies after a long day of snow ball fights and igloo building! I must admit, I made these cookies look as much like a 'French Macaron' as possible. As my kids would say...'French Macarons are my only weakness'. Sadly they are not on my prescribed diet at this time.

These little heavenly morsels however, will suit me just fine. Made with organic, fair trade Dagoba cocoa, these cookies are SUPER chocolaty and filled with a rich creamy, <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/NtPATqg74fk" height="1" width="1"/>

Perfect Dairy Free Almond Flour Pancakes (Grain/Dairy Free)

Oh MY! Fluffy pancakes are the best, and can I just add...I have been through the ringer (and 15lbs of almond flour) to get some! There are a lot of recipes out there. Some of them by amazing cooks too. But none of them were turning out the way I had hoped. They were either too soggy or too clumpy and worst of all, would stick to the pan. Finally after much tinkering I think I have it!

I am over joyed to share this with you because it is a huge testimony to my current state of health. At the beginning of the year I didn't think I would be able to cook, do yoga or sing ever again. Being a 'northern' girl, I have an affinity for nubby sweaters, backwoods hiking(minus the the ticks thank you), the smell of wood smoke, icy hands warmed by mugs filled with hot cocoa, and I can not leave out my great love for the crisp, pine smell of a real Christmas tree.

For the past few years, a real Christmas tree has not been an option for me. Candied citrus peel is one of my favorite, extravagant treats. It's sweet, chewy and full of citrusy goodness. In this recipe the citrus peel is first boiled in purified water. This makes it soft and ready to soak in the sweet honey syrup. After boiling, the peel is then simmered in a water/honey mixture, till the syrup becomes a wonderful gooey mess. Then the peels are coated in powdered<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/eoSkEjYqOgQ" height="1" width="1"/>

Cardamon & Candied Orange Peel Almond Flour Cupcakes W/Toasted Marshmallow Topping (Grain/Dairy Free)

I think that year thirty-eight deserves it's very own cup cake! Yes, I'm celebrating thirty-eight years of life and my first year of gluten/grain/dairy/refined sugar free. WOW, that is a lot of freedom! I know to some that may seem like a lot of 'restriction', but for me....it is my freedom. Freedom to walk, read, play, hug and dream. I can honestly say that this past year has been the <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheUrbanPoser/~4/mGkKWKVWGVY" height="1" width="1"/>

Pass the Santosha Please!

Often times at Thanksgiving, our heads are racing with thoughts and are full of distraction...

We feel hungry(cause it's 2:00 and we are still waiting on those darn relatives...

The room is too hot or too cold....

The kids are too loud (or even worse, too quiet)..
What we really want is turkey not tofurkey...
And, could everyone please stop yelling at the T.V.
