Green Orchid Events is giving away our 3rd annual Wedding Day Coordination package to a lucky couple getting married in 2010 or 2011! We’re a little late in the game with 2010 but if you’re getting married at the end of 2010, you’re still eligible! See below for details.

How to enter:
Send an email to angelica{@}greenorchidevents.com with the subject line “Wedding Day Coordination Contest” with the following information (no attachments please besides the photo):

Bride’s Name and Groom’s Name
Contact Information (phone and email)
Wedding Ceremony and Reception Location (s)
Wedding Date
Wedding Website (if applicable)
Additional wedding information such as your vendors, theme, color scheme, etc.

Please tell us your story about how you fell in love, your engagement, details of your wedding, how you are unique as a couple, and why you should be chosen as the winner. Be sure to include a photo!

Rules:

Entries must include the above information along with a photo of the couple.
Winner selected must have all vendors booked by the time Green Orchid Events steps in to work with you. If not all vendors are currently booked, use of our list of preferred vendors is highly recommended however no planning hours will be included.

Wedding must take place in 2010 or 2011 and is subject to our availability
Entries must be received by 11:59 PST on September 30th. A winner will be selected by October 15th.

Using Wedding Magazine Photos To Design Your Wedding

For years and years, brides have used clippings from wedding magazines as inspiration for their own weddings. Now, it’s even easier with the variety of wedding blogs out there.

Be careful and flexible or this can lead to disappointment.

Some photos in wedding blogs and wedding magazines are from photo shoots and not actual weddings so they will not carry out in a real wedding reception. Keep that in mind.

Oh and that beautiful rare flower you see in that photo? It won’t be available in May in Las Vegas.

Be flexible with your ideas, trust the professionals you’ve hired, and you’ll have a beautiful wedding whether you get the flowers in that lemon shade or banana shade. I promise, you may not even notice.

Bars, Service Tables, DJ Booths, and other tables you probably didn’t think about

Brides (and grooms) spend so much time planning out the details of their wedding reception from the guest table linens to the centerpieces to the place cards. However, one element I noticed couples overlooking are bars, DJ booths, and buffet/station tables. While it may blend in if you don’t do anything to them and just use the venue’s house linens, it DOES make a statement when you put a little effort into dressing up these important areas.

Even by coordinating some specialty linens for your buffet tables or action stations to match the rest of the room can transform your entire event. But there are so many other ways you can incorporate different components into your overall design utilizing floral, lighting, ice, or whatever your heart desires! Your wedding planner can help you design a look for all of these specialty tables that will definitely be the talk of the evening!

The wedding cake can be one of the many great focal points at a wedding. I have been to many weddings where guests “ohhh” and “ahhh” over the wedding cake and take photos of the work of art, including myself! Thanks to a company called RAISE THE CAKE you can add even more wow factors to your wedding cake. This cake stand consists of three tiers filled with Swarovski Crystals. The cake stand is only available to rent and can be rented out with all three tiers or rented individually. It is shipped to you in a sturdy box and comes with a pre paid label for return shipping. The pricing for all three pieces will be $450 to $500. I am in love with this cake stand and feel it is very diverse. It doesn’t only have to be for weddings. Why not have some sparkle at your bridal shower, bachelorette party, baby shower, etc?

This Weekend’s Bridal Spectacular Bridal Show Reminder

The summer Bridal Spectacular show will be held this coming weekend on Friday, August 20th and Saturday, August 21st at Cashman Convention Center. The show opens Friday night from 6pm to 10pm and this is Groom’s Night, where the groom gets in Free! The show will then open again on Saturday from 11am to 5pm.

Tickets are available online at BridalSpectacular.com for $10.00 in advance or at the door for $15.00.
